Positive Hermitian curvature flow on nilpotent and almost-abelian complex Lie groups

We study the positive Hermitian curvature flow on the space of left-invariant metrics on complex Lie groups. We show that in the nilpotent case, the flow exists for all positive times and subconverges in the Cheeger–Gromov sense to a soliton. We also show convergence to a soliton when the complex Lie group is almost abelian. That is, when its Lie algebra admits a (complex) co-dimension one abelian ideal. Finally, we study solitons in the almost-abelian setting. We prove uniqueness and completely classify all left-invariant, almost-abelian solitons, giving a method to construct examples in arbitrary dimensions, many of which admit co-compact lattices.

     

Prime and semiprime lattice ordered lie algebras

The concepts of prime Lie algebras and semiprime Lie algebras are important in the study of Lie algebras. The purpose of this paper is to investigate generalizations of these concepts to lattice ordered Lie algebras over partially ordered fields. Some results concerning the properties of l-prime and l-semiprime lattice ordered Lie algebras are obtained. A necessary and sufficient condition for a lattice ordered Lie algebra to be an l-prime Lie l-algebra is presented.     

Generalised Chain Conditions,Prime Ideals,and Classes of Locally Finite Lie Algebras

A Noetherian (Artinian) Lie algebra satisfies the maximal (minimal) condition for ideals.Generalisations include quasi-Noetherian and quasi-Artinian Lie algebras.We study conditions on prime ideals relating these properties.We prove that the radicalof any ideal of a quasi-Artinian Lie algebra is the intersection of finitely many prime ideals,and an ideally finite Lie algebra is quasi-Noetherian if and only if it is qussi-Artinian.Both properties are equivalent to soluble-by-finite.We also prove a structure theorem for serially finite Artinian Lie algebras.     

The socle of a nondegenerate Lie algebra

We define the socle of a nondegenerate Lie algebra as the sum of all its minimal inner ideals. The socle turns out to be an ideal which is a direct sum of simple ideals, and satisfies the descending chain condition on principal inner ideals. Every classical finite dimensional Lie algebra coincides with its socle, while relevant examples of infinite dimensional Lie algebras with nonzero socle are the simple finitary Lie algebras and the classical Banach Lie algebras of compact operators on an infinite dimensional Hilbert space. This notion of socle for Lie algebras is compatible with the previous ones for associative algebras and Jordan systems. We conclude with a structure theorem for simple nondegenerate Lie algebras containing abelian minimal inner ideals, and as a consequence we obtain that a simple Lie algebra over an algebraically closed field of characteristic 0 is finitary if and only if it is nondegenerate and contains a rank-one element.     

The Lattices of Kernel Ideals in Pseudocomplemented De Morgan Algebras

In a pseudocomplemented de Morgan algebra, it is shown that the set of kernel ideals is a complete Heyting lattice, and a necessary and sufficient condition that the set of kernel ideals is boolean (resp. Stone) is derived. In particular, a characterization of a de Morgan Heyting algebra whose congruence lattice is boolean (resp. Stone) is given.     

Two explicit realizations of a Lie algebra

We introduce a Lie algebra whose some properties are discussed, including its proper ideals, derivations and so on. Then, we again give rise to its two explicit realizations by adopting subalgebra of the Lie algebra A₂ and a column-vector Lie algebra, respectively. Under the frame of zero curvature equations, we may use the realizations to generate the same Lax integrable hierarchies of evolution equations and their Hamiltonian structure.     

THE UNIQUENESS OF THE DECOMPOSITION OF QUADRATIC LIE ALGEBRAS

In this paper, we consider the decomposition of a quadratic Lie algebra and the main result is that the decomposition of a quadratic Lie algebra into irreducible nondegenerate ideals is unique up to an isometry (Theorem 3.1). As a corollary, we obtain the uniqueness of the decomposition of an arbitrary Lie algebra into indecomposable ideals up to an isomorphism (Corollary 3.5.4).

The vertex ideal of a lattice

We introduce a monomial ideal whose standard monomials encode the vertices of all fibers of a lattice. We study the minimal generators, the radical, the associated primes and the primary decomposition of this ideal, as well as its relation to initial ideals of lattice ideals.

Two remarks on varieties of Lie algebras

Invariant Subspaces of Operator Lie Algebras and the Theory of K-Algebras

It is proved that if a Lie algebra of compact operators contains a nonzero ideal consisting of quasinilpotent operators then this Lie algebra has a nontrivial invariant subspace. Some applications of this result to lattices of invariant subspaces for families of compact operators and to structures of ideals of Banach Lie algebras with compact adjoint action are given.     

The Liouville integrability of integrable couplings of Volterra lattice equation

A hierarchy of integrable couplings of Volterra lattice equations with three potentials is proposed, which is derived from a new discrete six-by-six matrix spectral problem. Moreover, by means of the discrete variational identity on semi-direct sums of Lie algebra, the two Hamiltonian forms are deduced for each lattice equation in the resulting hierarchy. A strong symmetry operator of the resulting hierarchy is given. Finally, we prove that the hierarchy of the resulting Hamiltonian equations are all Liouville integrable discrete Hamiltonian systems.

Prehomogeneous spaces for Borel subgroups of general linear groups

Let k be an algebraically closed field. Let B be the Borel subgroup of GL_n(k) consisting of nonsingular upper triangular matrices. Let b = Lie B be the Lie algebra of upper triangular n × n matrices and u the Lie subalgebra of b consisting of strictly upper triangular matrices. We classify all Lie ideals n of b, satisfying u' ⫅ n ⫅ u, such that B acts (by conjugation) on n with a dense orbit. Further, in case B does not act with a dense orbit, we give the minimal codimension of a B-orbit in n. This can be viewed as a first step towards the difficult open problem of classifying of all ideals n ⫅ u such that B acts on n with a dense orbit. The proofs of our main results require a translation into the representation theory of a certain quasi-hereditary algebra A_t,1. In this setting we find the minimal dimension of Ext¹A_t,1(M,M) for a δ-good A_t,1-module of certain fixed δ-dimension vectors.     

Engel Subalgebras of n-Lie Algebras

Engel subalgebras of finite-dimensional n-Lie algebras are shown to have similar properties to those of Lie algebras. Using these, it is shown that an n-Lie algebra, all of whose maximal subalgebras are ideals, is nilpotent. A primitive 2-soluble n-Lie algebra is shown to split over its minimal ideal, and all the complements to its minimal ideal are conjugate. A subalgebra is shown to be a Cartan subalgebra if and only if it is minimal Engel, provided that the field has sufficiently many elements. Cartan subalgebras are shown to have a property analogous to intravariance.     

A property of polarization

Let G be a real Lie group with the Lie algebra g, and let f be a real linear functional on g. It is established that if Ker f does not contain nonzero ideals of the algebra g, then the existence of a total positive complex polarization for f implies that the Lie algebra of the stationary subgroup of the functional f in g is reductive.Translated from Matematicheskie Zametki, Vol. 21, No. 4, pp. 453–457, April, 1977.     

Systems of Quotients of Lie Triple Systems

In this article, we introduce the notion of system of quotients of Lie triple systems and investigate some properties which can be lifted from a Lie triple system to its systems of quotients. We relate the notion of Lie triple system of Martindale-like quotients with respect to a filter of ideals and the notion of system of quotients, and prove that the system of quotients of a Lie triple system is equivalent to the algebra of quotients of a Lie algebra in some sense, and these allow us to construct the maximal system of quotients for nondegenerate Lie triple systems.
