This paper deals with the problem ? Δ p u + α(x)|u| p?2 u = β(x)f(|u|) in Ω, subjected to the zero Neumann boundary condition, where p > 1, Ω ? ? N is bounded with smooth boundary, α, β ? L (Ω), essinfΩβ > 0, and f:[0,+ ∞) → ? is a not necessarily continuous nonlinearity that oscillates either at the origin or at the infinity. By using nonsmooth variational methods, we establish in both cases the existence of infinitely many distinct non-negative solutions of the Neumann problem. In our framework, α:Ω → ? may be a sign-changing or even a nonpositive potential, which is not permitted usually in earlier works.  相似文献

We consider solutions u(t) to the 3d NLS equation i? t u + Δu + |u|2 u = 0 such that ‖xu(t)‖ L 2  = ∞ and u(t) is nonradial. Denoting by M[u] and E[u], the mass and energy, respectively, of a solution u, and by Q(x) the ground state solution to ?Q + ΔQ + |Q|2 Q = 0, we prove the following: if M[u]E[u] < M[Q]E[Q] and ‖u 0 L 2 ‖?u 0 L 2  > ‖Q L 2 ‖?Q L 2 , then either u(t) blows-up in finite positive time or u(t) exists globally for all positive time and there exists a sequence of times t n  → + ∞ such that ‖?u(t n )‖ L 2  → ∞. Similar statements hold for negative time.  相似文献

We prove that the averaged scattering solutions to the Schrödinger equation with short-range electromagnetic potentials (V, A) where V(x) = O(|x|), A(x) = O(|x|), |x| → ∞, ρ > 1, are dense in the set of all solutions to the Schrödinger equation that are in L 2(K) where K is any connected bounded open set in ? n ,n ≥ 2, with smooth boundary. We use this result to prove that if two short-range electromagnetic potentials (V 1, A 1) and (V 2, A 2) in ? n , n ≥ 3, have the same scattering matrix at a fixed positive energy and if the electric potentials V j and the magnetic fields F j : = curl A j , j = 1, 2, coincide outside of some ball they necessarily coincide everywhere. In a previous paper of Weder and Yafaev the case of electric potentials and magnetic fields that are asymptotic sums of homogeneous terms at infinity was studied. It was proven that all these terms can be uniquely reconstructed from the singularities in the forward direction of the scattering amplitude at a fixed positive energy. The combination of the new uniqueness result of this paper and the result of Weder and Yafaev implies that the scattering matrix at a fixed positive energy uniquely determines electric potentials and magnetic fields that are a finite sum of homogeneous terms at infinity, or more generally, that are asymptotic sums of homogeneous terms that actually converge, respectively, to the electric potential and to the magnetic field.  相似文献

We show that if A is a representation-finite selfinjective Artin algebra, then every P ? ? K b(𝒫 A ) with Hom K(Mod?A)(P ?,P ?[i]) = 0 for i ≠ 0 and add(P ?) = add(νP ?) is a direct summand of a tilting complex, and that if A, B are derived equivalent representation-finite selfinjective Artin algebras, then there exists a sequence of selfinjective Artin algebras A = B 0, B 1,…, B m  = B such that, for any 0 ≤ i < m, B i+1 is the endomorphism algebra of a tilting complex for B i of length ≤ 1.  相似文献

We consider an inverse boundary value problem for the heat equation ? t u = div (γ? x u) in (0, T) × Ω, u = f on (0, T) × ?Ω, u| t=0 = u 0, in a bounded domain Ω ? ? n , n ≥ 2, where the heat conductivity γ(t, x) is piecewise constant and the surface of discontinuity depends on time: γ(t, x) = k 2 (x ∈ D(t)), γ(t, x) = 1 (x ∈ Ω?D(t)). Fix a direction e* ∈ 𝕊 n?1 arbitrarily. Assuming that ?D(t) is strictly convex for 0 ≤ t ≤ T, we show that k and sup {ex; x ∈ D(t)} (0 ≤ t ≤ T), in particular D(t) itself, are determined from the Dirichlet-to-Neumann map : f → ?ν u(t, x)|(0, T)×?Ω. The knowledge of the initial data u 0 is not used in the proof. If we know min0≤tT (sup xD(t) x·e*), we have the same conclusion from the local Dirichlet-to-Neumann map. Numerical examples of stationary and moving circles inside the unit disk are shown. The results have applications to nondestructive testing. Consider a physical body consisting of homogeneous material with constant heat conductivity except for a moving inclusion with different conductivity. Then the location and shape of the inclusion can be monitored from temperature and heat flux measurements performed at the boundary of the body. Such a situation appears for example in blast furnaces used in ironmaking.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the study of the large-time behavior of the solutions u of a class of one-dimensional reaction–diffusion equations with monostable reaction terms f, including in particular the classical Fisher-KPP nonlinearities. The nonnegative initial data u 0(x) are chiefly assumed to be exponentially bounded as x tends to + ∞ and separated away from the unstable steady state 0 as x tends to ? ∞. On the one hand, we give some conditions on u 0 which guarantee that, for some λ > 0, the quantity c λ = λ +f′(0)/λ is the asymptotic spreading speed, in the sense that lim  t→+∞ u(t, ct) = 1 (the stable steady state) if c < c λ and lim  t→+∞ u(t, ct) = 0 if c > c λ. These conditions are fulfilled in particular when u 0(xe λx is asymptotically periodic as x → + ∞. On the other hand, we also construct examples where the spreading speed is not uniquely determined. Namely, we show the existence of classes of initial conditions u 0 for which the ω-limit set of u(t, ct + x) as t tends to + ∞ is equal to the whole interval [0, 1] for all x ∈ ? and for all speeds c belonging to a given interval (γ1, γ2) with large enough γ1 < γ2 ≤ + ∞.  相似文献

We establish sufficient conditions for the persistence and the contractivity of solutions and the global asymptotic stability for the positive equilibrium N*=1/(a+∑i=0mbi) of the following differential equation with piecewise constant arguments:
where r(t) is a nonnegative continuous function on [0,+∞), r(t)0, ∑i=0mbi>0, bi0, i=0,1,2,…,m, and a+∑i=0mbi>0. These new conditions depend on a,b0 and ∑i=1mbi, and hence these are other type conditions than those given by So and Yu (Hokkaido Math. J. 24 (1995) 269–286) and others. In particular, in the case m=0 and r(t)≡r>0, we offer necessary and sufficient conditions for the persistence and contractivity of solutions. We also investigate the following differential equation with nonlinear delay terms:
where r(t) is a nonnegative continuous function on [0,+∞), r(t)0, 1−axg(x,x,…,x)=0 has a unique solution x*>0 and g(x0,x1,…,xm)C1[(0,+∞)×(0,+∞)××(0,+∞)].  相似文献

We show that the Miura map L 2(𝕋) → H ?1(𝕋), r?r x  + r 2 is a global fold and then apply our results on global well-posedness of KdV in H ?1(𝕋) to show that mKdV is globally well-posed in L 2(𝕋).  相似文献

In this article, we consider the best multivalued polynomial approximation operator, defined in an Orlicz Space LΦ(B), and its extension to Lφ(B), where φ is the derivative of Φ which is not an N-function. Thus, the extension of the best polynomial approximation operator from L1(B) to L0(B) arises as a particular case of this work, taking Φ(x) = x.  相似文献

Let Γ denote a smooth simple curve in ? N , N ≥ 2, possibly with boundary. Let Ω R be the open normal tubular neighborhood of radius 1 of the expanded curve RΓ: = {Rx | x ∈ Γ??Γ}. Consider the superlinear problem ? Δu + λu = f(u) on the domains Ω R , as R → ∞, with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary condition. We prove the existence of multibump solutions with bumps lined up along RΓ with alternating signs. The function f is superlinear at 0 and at ∞, but it is not assumed to be odd. If the boundary of the curve is nonempty our results give examples of contractible domains in which the problem has multiple sign changing solutions.  相似文献

A weak Cayley table isomorphism is a bijection φ: G → H of groups such that φ(xy) ~ φ(x)φ(y) for all x, y ∈ G. Here ~denotes conjugacy. When G = H the set of all weak Cayley table isomorphisms φ: G → G forms a group 𝒲(G) that contains the automorphism group Aut(G) and the inverse map I: G → G, x → x ?1. Let 𝒲0(G) = ?Aut(G), I? ≤ 𝒲(G) and say that G has trivial weak Cayley table group if 𝒲(G) = 𝒲0(G). We show that all finite irreducible Coxeter groups (except possibly E 8) have trivial weak Cayley table group, as well as most alternating groups. We also consider some sporadic simple groups.  相似文献

This paper studies the behavior under iteration of the maps T ab (x,y) = (F ab (x) ? y, x) of the plane ?2, in which F ab (x) = ax if x ≥ 0 and bx if x < 0. These maps are area-preserving homeomorphisms of ?2 that map rays from the origin to rays from the origin. Orbits of the map correspond to solutions of the nonlinear difference equation x n+2 = 1/2(a ? b)|x n+1|+1/2(a+b)x n+1 ? x n . This difference equation can be rewritten in an eigenvalue form for a nonlinear difference operator of Schrödinger type ? x n+2+2x n+1 ? x n +V μ(x n+1)x n+1 = Ex n+1, in which μ = (1/2)(a ? b) is fixed, and V μ(x) = μ(sgn(x)) is an antisymmetric step function potential, and the energy E = 2 ? 1/2(a+b). We study the set Ω SB of parameter values where the map T ab has at least one bounded orbit, which correspond to l -eigenfunctions of this difference operator. The paper shows that for transcendental μ the set Spec[μ] of energy values E having a bounded solution is a Cantor set. Numerical simulations suggest the possibility that these Cantor sets have positive (one-dimensional) measure for all real values of μ.  相似文献

In this article, a kind of nonregular constraint and a principle for seeking critical point under the constraint are presented, where no Lagrange multiplier is involved. Let E, F be two Banach spaces, g: E → F a c 1 map defined on an open set U in E, and the constraint S = the preimage g ?1(y 0), y 0 ∈ F. A main deference between the nonregular constraint and regular constraint is that g′(x) at any x ∈ S is not surjective. Recently, the critical point theory under the nonregular constraint is a concerned focus in optimization theory. The principle also suits the case of regular constraint. Coordinately, the generalized regular constraint is introduced and the critical point principle on generalized regular constraint is established. Let f: U → ? be a nonlinear functional. While the Lagrange multiplier L in classical critical point principle is considered, its expression is given by using generalized inverse g+(x) of g′(x) as follows: if x ∈ S is a critical point of f| S , then L = f′(x) ○ g+(x) ∈ F*. Moreover, it is proved that if S is a regular constraint, then the Lagrange multiplier L is unique; otherwise, L is ill-posed. Hence, in case of the nonregular constraint, it is very difficult to solve Euler equations; however, it is often the case in optimization theory. So the principle here seems to be new and applicable. By the way, the following theorem is proved: if A ∈ B(E, F) is double split, then the set of all generalized inverses of A, GI(A) is smooth diffeomorphic to certain Banach space. This is a new and interesting result in generalized inverse analysis.  相似文献

Convergence theorems and asymptotic estimates (as ϵ→0) are proved for eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of a mixed boundary value problem for the Laplace operator in a junction Ωϵ of a domain Ω0 and a large number N2 of ϵ‐periodically situated thin cylinders with thickness of order ϵ=O(N−1). We construct an extension operator that is only asymptotically bounded in ϵ on the eigenfunctions in the Sobolev space H1. An approach based on the asymptotic theory of elliptic problem in singularly perturbed domains is used. Copyright © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The expected number of real zeros of polynomials a 0 + a 1 x + a 2 x 2 +…+a n?1 x n?1 with random coefficients is well studied. For n large and for the normal zero mean independent coefficients, irrespective of the distribution of coefficients, this expected number is known to be asymptotic to (2/π)log n. For the dependent cases studied so far it is shown that this asymptotic value remains O(log n). In this article, we show that when cov(a i , a j ) = 1 ? |i ? j|/n, for i = 0,…, n ? 1 and j = 0,…, n ? 1, the above expected number of real zeros reduces significantly to O(log n)1/2.  相似文献

Let Q be a m × m real matrix and f j  : ? → ?, j = 1, …, m, be some given functions. If x and f(x) are column vectors whose j-coordinates are x j and f j (x j ), respectively, then we apply the finite dimensional version of the mountain pass theorem to provide conditions for the existence of solutions of the semilinear system Qx = f(x) for Q symmetric and positive semi-definite. The arguments we use are a simple adaptation of the ones used by Neuberger. An application of the above concerns partial difference equations on a finite, connected simple graph. A derivation of a graph 𝒢 is just any linear operator D:C 0(𝒢) → C 0(𝒢), where C 0(𝒢) is the real vector space of real maps defined on the vertex set V of the graph. Given a derivation D and a function F:V × ? → ?, one has associated a partial difference equation  = F(v,μ), and one searches for solutions μ ∈ C 0(𝒢). Sufficient conditions in order to have non-trivial solutions of partial difference equations on any finite, connected simple graph for D symmetric and positive semi-definite derivation are provided. A metric (or weighted) graph is a pair (𝒢, d), where 𝒢 is a connected finite degree simple graph and d is a positive function on the set of edges of the graph. The metric d permits to consider some classical derivations, such as the Laplacian operator ?2. In (Neuberger, Elliptic partial difference equations on graphs, Experiment. Math. 15 (2006), pp. 91–107) was considered the nonlinear elliptic partial difference equations ?2 u = F(u), for the metric d = 1.  相似文献

Consider the Navier-Stokes equations in Ω×(0,T), where Ω is a domain in R3. We show that there is an absolute constant ε0 such that ever, y weak solution u with the property that Suptε(a,b)|u(t)|L(D)≤ε0 is necessarily of class C in the space-time variables on any compact suhset of D × (a,b) , where D?? and 0 a<b<T. As an application. we prove that if the weak solution u behaves around (xo, to) εΩ×(o,T) 1ike u(x, t) = o(|x - xo|-1) as xx 0 uniforlnly in t in some neighbourliood of to, then (xo,to) is actually a removable singularity of u.  相似文献
