We consider quadratic functions f that satisfy the additional equation y2 f(x) =  x2 f(y) for the pairs \({ (x,y) \in \mathbb{R}^2}\) that fulfill the condition P(x, y) =  0 for some fixed polynomial P of two variables. If P(x, y) =  axbyc with \({ a , b , c \in \mathbb{R}}\) and \({(a^2 + b^2)c \neq 0}\) or P(x,y) =  x n ? y with a natural number \({n \geq 2}\), we prove that f(x) =  f(1) x2 for all \({x \in \mathbb{R}}\). Let R be a 6-torsion-free prime ring and let \({D : R \rightarrow R}\) be an additive mapping satisfying the relation 2D(x 4) = D(x 3)x + x 3 D(x) + D(x)x 3 + xD(x 3) for all \({x \in R}\) . The purpose of this paper is to show that D is a derivation. This result is related to a classical result of Herstein, which states that any Jordan derivation on a 2-torsion-free prime ring is a derivation.  相似文献

Let R k,s(n) denote the number of solutions of the equation \({n= x^2 + y_1^k + y_2^k + \cdots + y_s^k}\) in natural numbers x, y 1, . . . , y s . By a straightforward application of the circle method, an asymptotic formula for R k,s(n) is obtained when k ≥ 3 and s ≥ 2k–1 + 2. When k ≥ 6, work of Heath-Brown and Boklan is applied to establish the asymptotic formula under the milder constraint s ≥ 7 · 2k–4 + 3. Although the principal conclusions provided by Heath-Brown and Boklan are not available for smaller values of k, some of the underlying ideas are still applicable for k = 5, and the main objective of this article is to establish an asymptotic formula for R 5,17(n) by this strategy.  相似文献

Let \({f(x)=(x-a_1)\cdots (x-a_m)}\), where a 1, . . . , a m are distinct rational integers. In 1908 Schur raised the question whether f(x) ± 1 is irreducible over the rationals. One year later he asked whether \({(f(x))^{2^k}+1}\) is irreducible for every k ≥ 1. In 1919 Pólya proved that if \({P(x)\in\mathbb{Z}[x]}\) is of degree m and there are m rational integer values a for which 0 < |P(a)| < 2?N N! where \({N=\lceil m/2\rceil}\), then P(x) is irreducible. A great number of authors have published results of Schur-type or Pólya-type afterwards. Our paper contains various extensions, generalizations and improvements of results from the literature. To indicate some of them, in Theorem 3.1 a Pólya-type result is established when the ground ring is the ring of integers of an arbitrary imaginary quadratic number field. In Theorem 4.1 we describe the form of the factors of polynomials of the shape h(x) f(x) + c, where h(x) is a polynomial and c is a constant such that |c| is small with respect to the degree of h(x) f(x). We obtain irreducibility results for polynomials of the form g(f(x)) where g(x) is a monic irreducible polynomial of degree ≤ 3 or of CM-type. Besides elementary arguments we apply methods and results from algebraic number theory, interpolation theory and diophantine approximation.  相似文献

Rf) + Qf and, as a particular case, operators generated by expressions of the form l[f] = ?(P0f')' + i((Q0f)' + Q0f') + P'1f, where everywhere the derivatives are understood in the sense of distributions and P0, Q0, and P1 are Hermitianmatrix functions of order n with Lebesgue measurable elements such that P0?1 exists and ∥P0∥, ∥P0?1∥, ∥P0?1∥∥P12, ∥P0?1∥∥Q02Lloc1(R+). Themain goal in this paper is to study of the deficiency index of the minimal operator L0 generated by expression l[f] in Ln2(R+) in terms of the matrix functions P, Q, and R (P0, Q0, and P1). The obtained results are applied to differential operators generated by expressions of the form \(l[f] = - f'' + \sum\limits_{k = 1}^{ + \infty } {{H_k}} \delta \left( {x - {x_k}} \right)f\), where xk, k = 1, 2,..., is an increasing sequence of positive numbers, with limk→+∞xk = +∞, Hk is a number Hermitian matrix of order n, and δ(x) is the Dirac δ-function.  相似文献

Let G be a graph with vertex set V(G). For any integer k ≥ 1, a signed total k-dominating function is a function f: V(G) → {?1, 1} satisfying ∑xN(v)f(x) ≥ k for every vV(G), where N(v) is the neighborhood of v. The minimum of the values ∑vV(G)f(v), taken over all signed total k-dominating functions f, is called the signed total k-domination number. In this note we present some new sharp lower bounds on the signed total k-domination number of a graph. Some of our results improve known bounds.  相似文献

Mahler functions are power series f(x) with complex coefficients for which there exist a natural number n and an integer ? ≥ 2 such that f(x), f(x?),..., \(f({x^{{\ell ^{n - 1}}}}),f({x^{{\ell ^n}}})\) are linearly dependent over ?(x). The study of the transcendence of their values at algebraic points was initiated by Mahler around the’ 30s and then developed by many authors. This paper is concerned with some arithmetic aspects of these functions. In particular, if f(x) satisfies f(x) = p(x)f(x?) with p(x) a polynomial with integer coefficients, we show how the behaviour of f(x) mirrors on the polynomial p(x). We also prove some general results on Mahler functions in analogy with G-functions and E-functions.  相似文献

The recent articles of Arutyunov and Greshnov extend the Banach and Hadler Fixed-Point Theorems and the Arutyunov Coincidence-Point Theorem to the mappings of (q1, q2)-quasimetric spaces. This article addresses similar questions for f-quasimetric spaces.Given a function f: R +2 → R+ with f(r1, r2) → 0 as (r1, r2) → (0, 0), an f-quasimetric space is a nonempty set X with a possibly asymmetric distance function ρ: X2 → R+ satisfying the f-triangle inequality: ρ(x, z) ≤ f(ρ(x, y), ρ(y, z)) for x, y, zX. We extend the Banach Contraction Mapping Principle, as well as Krasnoselskii’s and Browder’s Theorems on generalized contractions, to mappings of f-quasimetric spaces.  相似文献

We study 2-primary parts ⅢX(E~((n))/Q)[2~∞] of Shafarevich-Tate groups of congruent elliptic curves E~((n)): y~2= x~3-n~2x, n ∈Q~×/Q~(×2). Previous results focused on finding sufficient conditions for ⅢX(E~((n))/Q)[2~∞]trivial or isomorphic to(Z/2Z)~2. Our first result gives necessary and sufficient conditions such that the 2-primary part of the Shafarevich-Tate group of E~((n))is isomorphic to(Z/2Z)~2 and the Mordell-Weil rank of E~((n)) is zero,provided that all prime divisors of n are congruent to 1 modulo 4. Our second result provides sufficient conditions for ⅢX(E~((n))/Q)[2~∞]■(Z/2Z)~(2k), where k≥2.  相似文献

Under some inequality conditions on f as |(xyz)| small or large enough, the existence results of positive solution are obtained. These inequality conditions allow that f(txyz) may be superlinear, sublinear or asymptotically linear on x, y and z as \(|(x,y,z)|\rightarrow 0\) and \(|(x,y,z)|\rightarrow \infty \). For the superlinear case as \(|(x,y,z)|\rightarrow \infty \), a Nagumo-type growth condition is presented to restrict the growth of f on y and z. Our discussion is based on the fixed point index theory in cones.
