We consider an inverse quadratic programming (QP) problem in which the parameters in the objective function of a given QP problem are adjusted as little as possible so that a known feasible solution becomes the optimal one. We formulate this problem as a minimization problem with a positive semidefinite cone constraint and its dual is a linearly constrained semismoothly differentiable (SC1) convex programming problem with fewer variables than the original one. We demonstrate the global convergence of the augmented Lagrangian method for the dual problem and prove that the convergence rate of primal iterates, generated by the augmented Lagrange method, is proportional to 1/r, and the rate of multiplier iterates is proportional to  $1/\sqrt{r}$ , where r is the penalty parameter in the augmented Lagrangian. As the objective function of the dual problem is a SC1 function involving the projection operator onto the cone of symmetrically semi-definite matrices, the analysis requires extensive tools such as the singular value decomposition of matrices, an implicit function theorem for semismooth functions, and properties of the projection operator in the symmetric-matrix space. Furthermore, the semismooth Newton method with Armijo line search is applied to solve the subproblems in the augmented Lagrange approach, which is proven to have global convergence and local quadratic rate. Finally numerical results, implemented by the augmented Lagrangian method, are reported.  相似文献

The focus of this paper is on studying an inverse second-order cone quadratic programming problem, in which the parameters in the objective function need to be adjusted as little as possible so that a known feasible solution becomes the optimal one. We formulate this problem as a minimization problem with cone constraints, and its dual, which has fewer variables than the original one, is a semismoothly differentiable (SC 1) convex programming problem with both a linear inequality constraint and a linear second-order cone constraint. We demonstrate the global convergence of the augmented Lagrangian method with an exact solution to the subproblem and prove that the convergence rate of primal iterates, generated by the augmented Lagrangian method, is proportional to 1/r, and the rate of multiplier iterates is proportional to $1/\sqrt{r}$ , where r is the penalty parameter in the augmented Lagrangian. Furthermore, a semismooth Newton method with Armijo line search is constructed to solve the subproblems in the augmented Lagrangian approach. Finally, numerical results are reported to show the effectiveness of the augmented Lagrangian method with both an exact solution and an inexact solution to the subproblem for solving the inverse second-order cone quadratic programming problem.

We propose a modified alternating direction method for solving convex quadratically constrained quadratic semidefinite optimization problems. The method is a first-order method, therefore requires much less computational effort per iteration than the second-order approaches such as the interior point methods or the smoothing Newton methods. In fact, only a single inexact metric projection onto the positive semidefinite cone is required at each iteration. We prove global convergence and provide numerical evidence to show the effectiveness of this method.  相似文献

We consider an inverse problem arising from the semi-definite quadratic programming (SDQP) problem. We represent this problem as a cone-constrained minimization problem and its dual (denoted ISDQD) is a semismoothly differentiable (SC1SC1) convex programming problem with fewer variables than the original one. The Karush–Kuhn–Tucker conditions of the dual problem (ISDQD) can be formulated as a system of semismooth equations which involves the projection onto the cone of positive semi-definite matrices. A smoothing Newton method is given for getting a Karush–Kuhn–Tucker point of ISDQD. The proposed method needs to compute the directional derivative of the smoothing projector at the corresponding point and to solve one linear system per iteration. The quadratic convergence of the smoothing Newton method is proved under a suitable condition. Numerical experiments are reported to show that the smoothing Newton method is very effective for solving this type of inverse quadratic programming problems.  相似文献

This paper deals with symmetric cone programming (SCP), which includes the linear programming (LP), the second-order cone programming (SOCP), the semidefinite programming (SDP) as special cases. Based on the Chen?CMangasarian smoothing function of the projection operator onto symmetric cones, we establish a smoothing Newton method for SCP. Global and quadratic convergence of the proposed algorithm is established under the primal and dual constraint nondegeneracies, but without the strict complementarity. Moreover, we show the equivalence at a Karush?CKuhn?CTucker (KKT) point among the primal and dual constraint nondegeneracies, the nonsingularity of the B-subdifferential of the smoothing counterpart of the KKT system, and the nonsingularity of the corresponding Clarke??s generalized Jacobian.  相似文献

The mixed complementarity problem can be reformulated as a nonsmooth equation by using the median operator. In this paper, we first study some useful properties of this reformulation and then derive the Chen-Harker-Kanzow-Smale smoothing function for the mixed complementarity problem. On the basis of this smoothing function, we present a smoothing Newton method for solving the mixed complementarity problem. Under suitable conditions, the method exhibits global and quadratic convergence properties. We also present a smoothing Broyden-like method based on the same smoothing function. Under appropriate conditions, the method converges globally and superlinearly.  相似文献

An algorithm for solving nearly-separable quadratic optimization problems (QPs) is presented. The approach is based on applying a semismooth Newton method to solve the implicit complementarity problem arising as the first-order stationarity conditions of such a QP. An important feature of the approach is that, as in dual decomposition methods, separability of the dual function of the QP can be exploited in the search direction computation. Global convergence of the method is promoted by enforcing decrease in component(s) of a Fischer–Burmeister formulation of the complementarity conditions, either via a merit function or through a filter mechanism. The results of numerical experiments when solving convex and nonconvex instances are provided to illustrate the efficacy of the method.  相似文献

Inexact Interior-Point Method   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
In this paper, we introduce an inexact interior-point algorithm for a constrained system of equations. The formulation of the problem is quite general and includes nonlinear complementarity problems of various kinds. In our convergence theory, we interpret the inexact interior-point method as an inexact Newton method. This enables us to establish a global convergence theory for the proposed algorithm. Under the additional assumption of the invertibility of the Jacobian at the solution, the superlinear convergence of the iteration sequence is proved.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the second-order cone complementarity problem with P 0-property. By introducing a smoothing parameter into the Fischer-Burmeister function, we present a smoothing Newton method for the second-order cone complementarity problem. The proposed algorithm solves only a linear system of equations and performs only one line search at each iteration. At the same time, the algorithm does not have restrictions on its starting point and has global convergence. Under the assumption of nonsingularity, we establish the locally quadratic convergence of the algorithm without strict complementarity condition. Preliminary numerical results show that the algorithm is promising.  相似文献

In this paper, the global and superlinear convergence of smoothing Newton method for solving nonsmooth operator equations in Banach spaces are shown. The feature of smoothing Newton method is to use a smooth function to approximate the nonsmooth mapping. Under suitable assumptions, we prove that the smoothing Newton method is superlinearly convergent. As an application, we use the smoothing Newton method to solve a constrained optimal control problem.  相似文献

We first propose a new class of smoothing functions for the nonlinear complementarity function which contains the well-known Chen-Harker-Kanzow-Smale smoothing function and Huang-Han-Chen smoothing function as special cases, and then present a smoothing inexact Newton algorithm for the P 0 nonlinear complementarity problem. The global convergence and local superlinear convergence are established. Preliminary numerical results indicate the feasibility and efficiency of the algorithm.  相似文献

1. IntroductionThe quadratic programming (QP) problem is the most simple one in nonlinear pro-gramming and plays a very important role in optimization theory and applications. It is well known that matriX splitting teChniques are widely used for solving large-scalelinear system of equations very successfully. These algorithms generate an infinite sequence,in contrast to the direct algorithms which terminate in a finite number of steps. However, iterative algorithms are considerable simpler tha…  相似文献

We propose and analyze a perturbed version of the classical Josephy–Newton method for solving generalized equations. This perturbed framework is convenient to treat in a unified way standard sequential quadratic programming, its stabilized version, sequential quadratically constrained quadratic programming, and linearly constrained Lagrangian methods. For the linearly constrained Lagrangian methods, in particular, we obtain superlinear convergence under the second-order sufficient optimality condition and the strict Mangasarian–Fromovitz constraint qualification, while previous results in the literature assume (in addition to second-order sufficiency) the stronger linear independence constraint qualification as well as the strict complementarity condition. For the sequential quadratically constrained quadratic programming methods, we prove primal-dual superlinear/quadratic convergence under the same assumptions as above, which also gives a new result.  相似文献

The circular cone programming (CCP) problem is to minimize or maximize a linear function over the intersection of an affine space with the Cartesian product of circular cones. In this paper, we study nondegeneracy and strict complementarity for the CCP, and present a nonmonotone smoothing Newton method for solving the CCP. We reformulate the CCP as a second-order cone programming (SOCP) problem using the algebraic relation between the circular cone and the second-order cone. Then based on a one parametric class of smoothing functions for the SOCP, a smoothing Newton method is developed for the CCP by adopting a new nonmonotone line search scheme. Without restrictions regarding its starting point, our algorithm solves one linear system of equations approximately and performs one line search at each iteration. Under mild assumptions, our algorithm is shown to possess global and local quadratic convergence properties. Some preliminary numerical results illustrate that our nonmonotone smoothing Newton method is promising for solving the CCP.  相似文献

We present a modified damped Newton method for solving large sparse linear complementarity problems, which adopts a new strategy for determining the stepsize at each Newton iteration. The global convergence of the new method is proved when the system matrix is a nondegenerate matrix. We then apply the matrix splitting technique to this new method, deriving an inexact splitting method for the linear complementarity problems. The global convergence of the resulting inexact splitting method is proved, too. Numerical results show that the new methods are feasible and effective for solving the large sparse linear complementarity problems.  相似文献

This paper is dedicated to solving a nonsmooth second-order cone complementarity problem, in which the mapping is assumed to be locally Lipschitz continuous, but not necessarily to be continuously differentiable everywhere. With the help of the vector-valued Fischer-Burmeister function associated with second-order cones, the nonsmooth second-order cone complementarity problem can be equivalently transformed into a system of nonsmooth equations. To deal with this reformulated nonsmooth system, we present an approximation function by smoothing the inner mapping and the outer Fischer-Burmeister function simultaneously. Different from traditional smoothing methods, the smoothing parameter introduced is treated as an independent variable. We give some conditions under which the Jacobian of the smoothing approximation function is guaranteed to be nonsingular. Based on these results, we propose a smoothing Newton method for solving the nonsmooth second-order cone complementarity problem and show that the proposed method achieves globally superlinear or quadratic convergence under suitable assumptions. Finally, we apply the smoothing Newton method to a network Nash-Cournot game in oligopolistic electric power markets and report some numerical results to demonstrate its effectiveness.

This paper studies convergence properties of regularized Newton methods for minimizing a convex function whose Hessian matrix may be singular everywhere. We show that if the objective function is LC2, then the methods possess local quadratic convergence under a local error bound condition without the requirement of isolated nonsingular solutions. By using a backtracking line search, we globalize an inexact regularized Newton method. We show that the unit stepsize is accepted eventually. Limited numerical experiments are presented, which show the practical advantage of the method.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the properties of the penalized Fischer-Burmeister (FB) second-order cone (SOC) complementarity function. We show that the function possesses similar desirable properties of the FB SOC complementarity function for local convergence; for example, with the function the second-order cone complementarity problem (SOCCP) can be reformulated as a (strongly) semismooth system of equations, and the corresponding nonsmooth Newton method has local quadratic convergence without strict complementarity of solutions. In addition, the penalized FB merit function has bounded level sets under a rather weak condition which can be satisfied by strictly feasible monotone SOCCPs or SOCCPs with the Cartesian R 01-property, although it is not continuously differentiable. Numerical results are included to illustrate the theoretical considerations.  相似文献
