On the order of summability of the Fourier inversion formula

In this article we show that the order of the point value, in the sense of Łojasiewicz, of a tempered distribution and the order of summability of the pointwise Fourier inversion formula are closely related. Assuming that the order of the point values and certain order of growth at infinity are given for a tempered distribution, we estimate the order of summability of the Fourier inversion formula. For Fourier series, and in other cases, it is shown that if the distribution has a distributional point value of order k, then its Fourier series is e.v. Cesàro summable to the distributional point value of order k+1. Conversely, we also show that if the pointwise Fourier inversion formula is e.v. Cesàro summable of order k, then the distribution is the (k+1)-th derivative of a locally integrable function, and the distribution has a distributional point value of order k+2. We also establish connections between orders of summability and local behavior for other Fourier inversion problems.

Application of the absolute Euler method to some series related to Fourier series and its conjugate series

We study the absolute Euler summability problem of some series associated with Fourier series and its conjugate series generalizing some known results in the literature. Also, it is shown that absolute Euler summability of rth derived Fourier series and rth derived conjugate series can be ensured under local conditions.     

NUMERICAL RECONSTRUCTION OF SMALL PERTURBATIONS IN THE ELECTROMAGNETIC COEFFICIENTS OF A DIELECTRIC MATERIAL

The aim of this paper is to solve numerically the inverse problem of reconstructing small amplitude perturbations in the magnetic permeability of a dielectric material from partial or total dynamic boundary measurements. Our numerical algorithm is based on the resolution of the time-dependent Maxwell equations, an exact controllability method and Fourier inversion for localizing the perturbations. Two-dimensional numerical experiments illustrate the performance of the reconstruction method for different configurations even in the case of limited-view data.     

Multipliers for the absolute euler summability of fourier series

In this paper, the author has investigated necessary and sufficient conditions for the absolute Euler summability of the Fourier series with miltipliers. These conditions are weaker than those obtained earlier by some workers. It is further shown that the multipliers are best possible in certain sense.     

On application of matrix summability to Fourier series

Bor has recently obtained a main theorem dealing with absolute weighted mean summability of Fourier series. In this paper, we generalized that theorem for summability method. Also, some new and known results are obtained dealing with some basic summability methods.     

Cesaro Summability and Marchaud Inequality

For Fourier expansions it will be shown that sharp Marchaud-type inequalities follow from the positivity of the Cesaro summability of some order. Some results of sharp Marchaud-type will be derived using this method when other known methods cannot be used.     

Local properties of factored Fourier series

By using a convex sequence Bor [H. Bor, A study on local properties of factored Fourier series, Nonlinear Anal. 57 (2004) 191-197] has obtained a result dealing with local properties of factored Fourier series for summability. In this paper, we have generalized that result for summability. Some new results have also been obtained.     

A summability for Meyer wavelets

The Gibbs’ phenomenon in the classical Fourier series is well-known. It is closely related with the kernel of the partial sum of the series. In fact, the Dirichlet kernel of the Fourier series is not positive. The poisson kernel of Cesaro summability is positive. As the consequence of the positiveness, the partial sum of Cesaro summability does not exhibit the Gibbs’ phenomenon. Most kernels associated with wavelet expansions are not positive. So wavelet series is not free from the Gibbs’ phenomenon. Because of the excessive oscillation of wavelets, we can not follow the techniques of the Fourier series to get rid of the unwanted quirk. Here we make a positive kernel for Meyer wavelets and as the result the associated summability method does not exhibit Gibbs’ phenomenon for the corresponding series.

On the local properties of factored Fourier series

Quite recently, Bor [H. Bor, On the local properties of factored of Fourier series, Bull. Math. Anal. Appl. 1 (2009) 15-21] proved a theorem on the local property of summability of factored Fourier series. The purpose of this paper is to extend to more general cases by taking normal matrices in place of weighted mean matrices.     

ON LACUNARY STATISTICAL CONVERGENCE OF ORDER α

In this article, we introduce the concept of lacunary statistical convergence of order α of real number sequences and give some inclusion relations between the sets of lacunary statistical convergence of order α and strong Nαθ(p)-summability. Furthermore, some relations between the spaces Nαθ(p) and Sαθare examined.

On absolute summability factors of infinite series

In this paper using δ-quasi-monotone sequences a theorem on summability factors of infinite series, which generalizes a theorem of Bor [4] on summability factors of infinite series, is proved. Also, in the special case this theorem includes a result of Mazhar [8] on |C, 1|_k summability factors.     

Factors for ¦N,pn;δ¦k summability of Fourier series

In this paper two theorems on | N,p_n;δ|_k summability factors, which generalize the results of Bor [4] on | N,p_n|k summability factors, have been proved.

Summability of Fourier orthogonal series for Jacobi weight on a ball in

Fourier orthogonal series with respect to the weight function
on the unit ball in are studied. Compact formulae for the sum of the product of orthonormal polynomials in several variables and for the reproducing kernel are derived and used to study the summability of the Fourier orthogonal series. The main result states that the expansion of a continuous function in the Fourier orthogonal series with respect to is uniformly summable on the ball if and only if .

     

On the absolute matrix summability of Fourier series and some associated series

The object of the paper is to study the absolute matrix summability problem of Fourier series, conjugate series and some associated series under a new set of conditions on matrix methods, generalising many known results in the literature.
