We study the convergence of the false discovery proportion (FDP) of the Benjamini-Hochberg procedure in the Gaussian equi-correlated model, when the correlation ρm converges to zero as the hypothesis number m grows to infinity. In this model, the FDP converges to the false discovery rate (FDR) at rate {min(m,1/ρm)}1/2, which is different from the standard convergence rate m1/2 holding under independence.  相似文献

Suppose that Y=(Yi) is a normal random vector with mean Xb and covariance σ2In, where b is a p-dimensional vector (bj),X=(Xij) is an n×p matrix. A-optimal designs X are chosen from the traditional set D of A-optimal designs for ρ=0 such that X is still A-optimal in D when the components Yi are dependent, i.e., for ii′, the covariance of Yi,Yi is ρ with ρ≠0. Such designs depend on the sign of ρ. The general results are applied to X=(Xij), where Xij∈{-1,1}; this corresponds to a factorial design with -1,1 representing low level or high level respectively, or corresponds to a weighing design with -1,1 representing an object j with weight bj being weighed on the left and right of a chemical balance respectively.  相似文献

For normally distributed data from the k populations with m×m covariance matrices Σ1,…,Σk, we test the hypothesis H:Σ1=?=Σk vs the alternative AH when the number of observations Ni, i=1,…,k from each population are less than or equal to the dimension m, Nim, i=1,…,k. Two tests are proposed and compared with two other tests proposed in the literature. These tests, however, do not require that Nim, and thus can be used in all situations, including when the likelihood ratio test is available. The asymptotic distributions of the test statistics are given, and the power compared by simulations with other test statistics proposed in the literature. The proposed tests perform well and better in several cases than the other two tests available in the literature.  相似文献

Summary This paper investigates some partially balanced fractional 2 m 1+m 2 factorial designs of resolution IV derived from partially balanced arrays, which permit estimation of the general mean, all main effects, all two-factor interactions within each set of them k factors (k=1, 2) and some linear combinations of the two-factor interactions between the sets of them k ones. In addition, optimal designs with respect to the generalized trace criterion defined by Shirakura (1976,Ann. Statist.,4, 723–735) are presented for each pair (m 1,m 2) with 2≦m 1m 2 andm 1+m 2≦6, and for values ofN (the number of observations) in a reasonable range. For independently distributed observables: XiN(θi,σ2),i=1,…,p, we consider estimating the vector θ=(θ1,…,θp) with loss ‖dθ2 under the constraint , with known τ1,…,τp,σ2,m. In comparing the risk performance of Bayesian estimators δα associated with uniform priors on spheres of radius α centered at (τ1,…,τp) with that of the maximum likelihood estimator , we make use of Stein’s unbiased estimate of risk technique, Karlin’s sign change arguments, and a conditional risk analysis to obtain for a fixed (m,p) necessary and sufficient conditions on α for δα to dominate . Large sample determinations of these conditions are provided. Both cases where all such δα’s and cases where no such δα’s dominate are elicited. We establish, as a particular case, that the boundary uniform Bayes estimator δm dominates if and only if mk(p) with , improving on the previously known sufficient condition of Marchand and Perron (2001) [3] for which . Finally, we improve upon a universal dominance condition due to Marchand and Perron, by establishing that all Bayesian estimators δπ with π spherically symmetric and supported on the parameter space dominate whenever mc1(p) with .  相似文献

Clear effects criterion is one of the important rules for selecting optimal fractional factorial designs, and it has become an active research issue in recent years. Tang et al. derived upper and lower bounds on the maximum number of clear two-factor interactions (2fi’s) in 2 n−(n−k) fractional factorial designs of resolutions III and IV by constructing a 2 n−(n−k) design for given k, which are only restricted for the symmetrical case. This paper proposes and studies the clear effects problem for the asymmetrical case. It improves the construction method of Tang et al. for 2 n−(n−k) designs with resolution III and derives the upper and lower bounds on the maximum number of clear two-factor interaction components (2fic’s) in 4 m 2 n designs with resolutions III and IV. The lower bounds are achieved by constructing specific designs. Comparisons show that the number of clear 2fic’s in the resulting design attains its maximum number in many cases, which reveals that the construction methods are satisfactory when they are used to construct 4 m 2 n designs under the clear effects criterion. Suppose that random factor models with k factors are assumed to hold for m, p-variate populations. A model for factorial invariance has been proposed wherein the covariance or correlation matrices can be written as Σi = LCiL′ + σi2I, where Ci is the covariance matrix of factor variables and L is a common factor loading matrix, i = 1,…, m. Also a goodness of fit statistic has been proposed for this model. The asymptotic distribution of this statistic is shown to be that of a quadratic form in normal variables. An approximation to this distribution is given and thus a test for goodness of fit is derived. The problem of dimension is considered and a numerical example is given to illustrate the results.  相似文献

The groups Gk,1 of Richard Thompson and Graham Higman can be generalized in a natural way to monoids, that we call Mk,1, and to inverse monoids, called ; this is done by simply generalizing bijections to partial functions or partial injective functions. The monoids Mk,1 have connections with circuit complexity (studied in other papers). Here we prove that Mk,1 and are congruence-simple for all k. Their Green relations J and D are characterized: Mk,1 and are J-0-simple, and they have k−1 non-zero D-classes. They are submonoids of the multiplicative part of the Cuntz algebra Ok. They are finitely generated, and their word problem over any finite generating set is in P. Their word problem is coNP-complete over certain infinite generating sets.  相似文献

We investigate the estimation problem of parameters in a two-sample semiparametric model. Specifically, let X1,…,Xn be a sample from a population with distribution function G and density function g. Independent of the Xi’s, let Z1,…,Zm be another random sample with distribution function H and density function h(x)=exp[α+r(x)β]g(x), where α and β are unknown parameters of interest and g is an unknown density. This model has wide applications in logistic discriminant analysis, case-control studies, and analysis of receiver operating characteristic curves. Furthermore, it can be considered as a biased sampling model with weight function depending on unknown parameters. In this paper, we construct minimum Hellinger distance estimators of α and β. The proposed estimators are chosen to minimize the Hellinger distance between a semiparametric model and a nonparametric density estimator. Theoretical properties such as the existence, strong consistency and asymptotic normality are investigated. Robustness of proposed estimators is also examined using a Monte Carlo study.  相似文献

We introduce a new statistic written as a sum of certain ratios of second-order increments of partial sums process of observations, which we call the increment ratio (IR) statistic. The IR statistic can be used for testing nonparametric hypotheses for d-integrated () behavior of time series Xt, including short memory (d=0), (stationary) long-memory and unit roots (d=1). If Sn behaves asymptotically as an (integrated) fractional Brownian motion with parameter , the IR statistic converges to a monotone function Λ(d) of as both the sample size N and the window parameter m increase so that N/m→∞. For Gaussian observations Xt, we obtain a rate of decay of the bias EIR-Λ(d) and a central limit theorem (N/m)1/2(IR-EIR)→N(0,σ2(d)), in the region . Graphs of the functions Λ(d) and σ(d) are included. A simulation study shows that the IR test for short memory (d=0) against stationary long-memory alternatives has good size and power properties and is robust against changes in mean, slowly varying trends and nonstationarities. We apply this statistic to sequences of squares of returns on financial assets and obtain a nuanced picture of the presence of long-memory in asset price volatility.  相似文献

Using ideas from shape theory we embed the coarse category of metric spaces into the category of direct sequences of simplicial complexes with bonding maps being simplicial. In the present paper we consider a class of unequally replicated designs having concurrence range 2 and spectrum of the form μ1(μ2)v−3μ3. Now, Jacroux’s [Some sufficient conditions for the type I optimality of block designs, J. Statist. Plann. Inference 11 (1985) 385-396] Proposition 2.4 says that a design with spectrum of the above form, if satisfies some further conditions, is type 1 optimal. Unfortunately, this proposition does not apply to our designs since they have a poor status regarding E-optimality. Yet we are able to prove the A-optimality (in the general class) of these designs using majorisation technique. A method of construction of an infinite series of our A-optimal designs has also been given.The first and only known infinite series of examples of designs satisfying Jacroux’s conditions appears to be the first one in Section 4.1 of Morgan and Srivastav [On the Type-1 optimality of nearly balanced incomplete block designs with small concurrence range, Statist. Sinica 10 (2000) 1091-1116] - hitherto referred to as [MS]. In this paper, we use majorisation technique to prove stronger optimality properties of the above mentioned designs of [MS] as well as to present simpler proof of another optimality result in [MS].  相似文献

We analyze k-stage formality and relate resonance with this type of formality properties. For instance, we show that, for a finitely generated nilpotent group that is k-stage formal, the resonance varieties are trivial up to degree k. We also show that the cohomology ring, truncated up to degree k+1, of a finitely generated nilpotent, k-stage formal group is generated in degree 1; this criterion is necessary and sufficient for a finitely generated, 2-step nilpotent group to be k-stage formal. We compute resonance varieties for Heisenberg-type groups and deduce the degree of partial formality for this class of groups.  相似文献
