Supplier-managed inventory (SMI) is a partnering agreement between a supplier and his customers. Under this SMI agreement, inventory monitoring and ordering responsibilities are entirely transferred to the supplier. Subsequently, the supplier decides both the quantity and timing of his customer deliveries. The inventory routing problem is an underlying optimization model for SMI partnerships to cost-effectively coordinate and manage customer inventories and related replenishments logistics. This paper discusses the case where customer demand rates and travel times are stochastic but stationary, and proposes a version of the inventory routing optimization model that generates optimal robust distribution plans. The approach proposed to obtain and deploy these robust plans combines optimization and Monte Carlo simulation. Optimization is used to determine the robust distribution plan and simulation is used to fine-tune the plan's critical parameters such as replenishment cycle times and safety stock levels. Results of a simplified real-life case implementing the proposed optimization-simulation approach are shown and discussed in detail.  相似文献

We consider a manufacturer’s stochastic production/inventory problem under periodic review and present methods for safety stock determination to cope with uncertainties that are caused by stochastic demand and different types of yield randomness. Following well-proven inventory control concepts for this problem type, we focus on a critical stock policy with a linear order release rule. A central parameter of this type of policy is given by the safety stock value. When non-zero manufacturing lead times are taken into account in the random yield context, it turns out that safety stocks have to be determined that vary from period to period. We present a simple approach for calculating these dynamic safety stocks for different yield models. Additionally, we suggest approaches for determining appropriate static safety stocks that are easier to apply in practice. In a simulation study we investigate the performance of the proposed safety stock variants.  相似文献

In this paper, we treat the problem of determining safety stocks in multi-stage inventory systems with normally distributed demands. The system follows a periodic review base-stock control policy. Assuming that every stockpoint satisfies a service level constraint and that no internal delays occur, we formulate the optimization problem for a general inventory system and derive properties of the optimal policy, which depend on the structure of the multi-stage system and the service measure used. Considering stockout occurrence related service levels, we find that the safety stock coverage times can only obtain values resulting from the extreme points of the solution set. Service levels representing size and duration of stockouts need less protection and are connected with problem reduction properties. The analysis of the reduced problems leads to similar extreme point properties as for stockout occurrence related service.  相似文献

We consider the infinite horizon inventory routing problem in a three-level distribution system with a vendor, a warehouse and multiple geographically dispersed retailers. In this problem, each retailer faces a demand at a deterministic, retailer-specific rate for a single product. The demand of each retailer is replenished either from the vendor through the warehouse or directly from the vendor. Inventories are kept at both the retailers and the warehouse. The objective is to determine a combined transportation (routing) and inventory strategy minimizing a long-run average system-wide cost while meeting the demand of each retailer without shortage. We present a decomposition solution approach based on a fixed partition policy where the retailers are partitioned into disjoint and collectively exhaustive sets and each set of retailers is served on a separate route. Given a fixed partition, the original problem is decomposed into three sub-problems. Efficient algorithms are developed for the sub-problems by exploring important properties of their optimal solutions. A genetic algorithm is proposed to find a near-optimal fixed partition for the problem. Computational results show the performance of the solution approach.  相似文献

In order to reduce large online measurement and correction expenses, the a priori informations on the random variations of the model parameters of a robot and its working environment are taken into account already at the planning stage. Thus, instead of solving a deterministic path planning problem with a fixed nominal parameter vector, here, the optimal velocity profile along a given trajectory in work space is determined by using a stochastic optimization approach. Especially, the standard polygon of constrained motion-depending on the nominal parameter vector-is replaced by a more general set of admissible motion determined by chance constraints or more general risk constraints. Robust values (with respect to stochastic parameter variations) of the maximum, minimum velocity, acceleration, deceleration, resp., can be obtained then by solving a univariate stochastic optimization problem Considering the fields of extremal trajectories, the minimum-time path planning problem under stochastic uncertainty can be solved now by standard optimal deterministic path planning methods  相似文献

This paper presents stylized models for conducting performance analysis of the manufacturing supply chain network (SCN) in a stochastic setting for batch ordering. We use queueing models to capture the behavior of SCN. The analysis is clubbed with an inventory optimization model, which can be used for designing inventory policies . In the first case, we model one manufacturer with one warehouse, which supplies to various retailers. We determine the optimal inventory level at the warehouse that minimizes total expected cost of carrying inventory, back order cost associated with serving orders in the backlog queue, and ordering cost. In the second model we impose service level constraint in terms of fill rate (probability an order is filled from stock at warehouse), assuming that customers do not balk from the system. We present several numerical examples to illustrate the model and to illustrate its various features. In the third case, we extend the model to a three-echelon inventory model which explicitly considers the logistics process.  相似文献

In this paper we determine optimal reduction in the procurement lead time duration for some stochastic inventory models, jointly with the optimal ordering decisions. The models are developed with complete and partial information about the lead time demand distribution. The stochastic models analyzed in this paper are the classical continuous and periodic review models with a mixture of backorders and lost sales and the base stock model. For each of these models, we provide sufficient conditions for the uniqueness of the optimal operating policy. We also develop algorithms for solving these models and provide illustrative numerical examples.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a two-stage stochastic model to address the design of an integrated location and two-echelon inventory network under uncertainty. The central issue in this problem is to design and operate an effective and efficient multi-echelon supply chain distribution network and to minimize the expected system-wide cost of warehouse location, the allocation of warehouses to retailers, transportation, and two-echelon inventory over an infinite planning horizon. We structure this problem as a two-stage nonlinear discrete optimization problem. The first stage decides the warehouses to open and the second decides the warehouse-retailer assignments and two-echelon inventory replenishment strategies. Our modeling strategy incorporates various probable scenarios in the integrated multi-echelon supply chain distribution network design to identify solutions that minimize the first stage costs plus the expected second stage costs. The two-echelon inventory cost considerations result in a nonlinear objective which we linearize with an exponential number of variables. We solve the problem using column generation. Our computational study indicates that our approach can solve practical problems of moderate-size with up to twenty warehouse candidate locations, eighty retailers, and ten scenarios efficiently.  相似文献

Previous research has analyzed deterministic and stochastic models of lateral transhipments between different retailers in a supply chain. In these models the analysis assumes given fixed transhipment costs and determines under which situations (magnitudes of excess supply and demand at various retailers) the transhipment is profitable. However, in reality, these depend on aspects like the distance between retailers or the transportation mode chosen. In many situations, combining the transhipments may save transportation costs. For instance, one or more vehicle routes may be used to redistribute the inventory of the potential pickup and delivery stations. This can be done in any sequence as long as the vehicle capacity is not violated and there is enough load on the vehicle to satisfy demand. The corresponding problem is an extension of the one-commodity pickup and delivery traveling salesman and the pickup and delivery vehicle routing problem. When ignoring the routing aspect and assuming given fixed costs, transhipment is only profitable if the quantities are higher than a certain threshold. In contrast to that, the selection of visited retailers is dependent on the transportation costs of the tour and therefore the selected retailers are interrelated. Hence the problem also has aspects of a (team) orienteering problem. The main contribution is the discussion of the tour planning aspects for lateral transhipments which may be valuable for in-house planning but also for price negotiations with external contractors. A mixed integer linear program for the single route and single commodity version is presented and an improved LNS framework to heuristically solve the problem is introduced. Furthermore, the effect of very small load capacity on the structure of optimal solutions is discussed.  相似文献

Generally, in the portfolio selection problem the Decision Maker (DM) considers simultaneously conflicting objectives such as rate of return, liquidity and risk. Multi-objective programming techniques such as goal programming (GP) and compromise programming (CP) are used to choose the portfolio best satisfying the DM’s aspirations and preferences. In this article, we assume that the parameters associated with the objectives are random and normally distributed. We propose a chance constrained compromise programming model (CCCP) as a deterministic transformation to multi-objective stochastic programming portfolio model. CCCP is based on CP and chance constrained programming (CCP) models. The proposed program is illustrated by means of a portfolio selection problem from the Tunisian stock exchange market.  相似文献

Perishable inventory theory: a review.   总被引:26,自引:0,他引:26
This paper reviews the relevant literature on the problem of determining suitable ordering policies for both fixed life perishable inventory, and inventory subject to continuous exponential decay. We consider both deterministic and stochastic demand for single and multiple products. Both optimal and suboptimal order policies are discussed. In addition, a brief review of the application of these models to blood bank management is included. The review concludes with a discussion of some of the interesting open research questions in the area.  相似文献

In this paper we consider a single item, stochastic demand production/inventory problem where the maximum amount that can be produced (or ordered) in any given period is assumed to be uncertain. Inventory levels are reviewed periodically. The system operates under a stationary modified base stock policy. The intent of our paper is to present a procedure for computing the optimal base stocl level of this policy under expected average cost per period criterion. This procedure would provide guidance as to the appropriate amount of capacity to store in the form of inventory in the face of stochastic demand and uncertain capacity. In achieving this goal, our main contribution is to establish the analogy between the class of base stock production/inventory policies that operate under demand/capacity uncertainty, and the G/G/1 queues and their associated random walks. We also present example derivations for some important capacity distributions.  相似文献

The main objective of this work is to put forward chance constrained mixed-integer nonlinear stochastic and fuzzy programming models for refinery short-term crude oil scheduling problem under demands uncertainty of distillation units. The scheduling problem studied has characteristics of discrete events and continuous events coexistence, multistage, multiproduct, nonlinear, uncertainty and large scale. At first, the two models are transformed into their equivalent stochastic and fuzzy mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) models by using the method of Quesada and Grossmann [I. Quesada, I E. Grossmann, Global optimization of bilinear process networks with multicomponent flows, Comput. Chem. Eng. 19 (12) (1995) 1219–1242], respectively. After that, the stochastic equivalent model is converted into its deterministic MILP model through probabilistic theory. The fuzzy equivalent model is transformed into its crisp MILP model relies on the fuzzy theory presented by Liu and Iwamura [B.D. Liu, K. Iwamura, Chance constrained programming with fuzzy parameters, Fuzzy Sets Syst. 94 (2) (1998) 227–237] for the first time in this area. Finally, the two crisp MILP models are solved in LINGO 8.0 based on scheduling time discretization. A case study which has 267 continuous variables, 68 binary variables and 320 constraints is effectively solved with the solution approaches proposed.  相似文献

Stochastic chance constrained mixed-integer nonlinear programming (SCC-MINLP) models are developed in this paper to solve the refinery short-term crude oil scheduling problem which concerns crude oil unloading, mixing, transferring and multilevel inventory control under demands uncertainty of distillation units. The objective of these models is the minimum expected value of total operation cost. It is the first time that the uncertain demands of Crude oil Distillation Units (CDUs) in these problems are set as random variables which have discrete and continuous joint probability distributions. This situation is close to the real world industry use. To reduce the computation complexity, these SCC-MINLP models are transformed into their equivalent stochastic chance constrained mixed-integer linear programming models (SCC-MILP). Stochastic simulation and stochastic sampling technologies are introduced in detail to solve these complex SCC-MILP models. Finally, case studies are effectively solved with the proposed approaches.  相似文献

We consider a one-warehouse-multiple-retailer inventory system where the retailers face stochastic customer demand, modelled as compound Poisson processes. Deliveries from the central warehouse to groups of retailers are consolidated using a time based shipment consolidation policy. This means that replenishment orders have to wait until a vehicle departures, which increases the lead time for the retailers and therefore also the safety stock. Thus, a trade-off exists between expected shipment costs and holding costs. Our aim is to determine the shipment intervals and the required amount of safety stock for each retailer and the warehouse to minimize total cost, both for backorder costs and fill rate constraints. Previous work has focused on exact solutions which are computationally demanding and not applicable for larger real world problems. The focus of our present work is on the development of computationally attractive heuristics that can be applied in practice. A numerical study shows that the proposed heuristics perform well compared to the exact cost minimizing solutions. We also illustrate that the approaches are appropriate for solving real world problems using data from a large European company.  相似文献

We consider a time-based inventory control policy for a two-level supply chain with one warehouse and multiple retailers in this paper. Let the warehouse order in a fixed base replenishment interval. The retailers are required to order in intervals that are integer-ratio multiples of the base replenishment interval at the warehouse. The warehouse and the retailers each adopt an order-up-to policy, i.e. order the needed stock at a review point to raise the inventory position to a fixed order-up-to level. It is assumed that the retailers face independent Poisson demand processes and no transshipments between them are allowed. The contribution of the study is threefold. First, we assume that when facing a shortage the warehouse allocates the remaining stock to the retailers optimally to minimize system cost in the last minute before delivery and provide an approach to evaluate the exact system cost. Second, we characterize the structural properties and develop an exact optimal solution for the inventory control system. Finally, we demonstrate that the last minute optimal warehouse stock allocation rule we adopt dominates the virtual allocation rule in which warehouse stock is allocated to meet retailer demand on a first-come first-served basis with significant cost benefits. Moreover, the proposed time-based inventory control policy can perform equally well or better than the commonly used stock-based batch-ordering policy for distribution systems with multiple retailers.  相似文献

This research considers a supply chain financing system consisting of a capital‐constrained retailer, a supplier and a risk‐averse bank. The retailer may be subject to credit limit because of the bank's downside risk control, and hence, credit insurance should be needed to enhance his financing ability. This paper develops a mathematical optimization model by incorporating insurance policy into the well‐known newsvendor financing model. The optimal inventory and insurance decisions under different scenarios, that is, no insurance, insurance with symmetric information and insurance with asymmetric information, are derived. This work also discusses how the retailer's capital level, the bank's risk aversion, and the insurer's loading factor affect the optimal inventory and insurance decisions. The results show that the retailer will use credit insurance if he is sufficiently capital‐constrained or the insurer's risk loading factor is low enough. Moreover, credit insurance can bring Pareto improvement to the supply chain financing system, which verifies the prevalence of credit insurance in practice. Several numerical experiments are presented to examine the sensitivities of key parameters. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

This paper considers a class of stochastic vehicle routing problems (SVRPs) with random demands, in which the number of potential failures per route is restricted either by the data or the problem constraints. These are realistic cases as it makes little sense to plan vehicle routes that systematically fail a large number of times. First, a chance constrained version of the problem is considered which can be solved to optimality by algorithms similar to those developed for the deterministic vehicle routing problem (VRP). Three classes of SVRP with recourse are then analyzed. In all cases, route failures can only occur at one of the lastk customers of the planned route. Since in general, SVRPs are considerably more intractable than the deterministic VRPs, it is interesting to note that these realistic stochastic problems can be solved as a sequence of deterministic traveling salesman problems (TSPs). In particular, whenk=1 the SVRP with recourse reduces to a single TSP.  相似文献
