We prove that the theorem on the incompleteness of polynomials in the space C 0 w established by de Branges in 1959 is not true for the space L p (ℝ, dμ) if the support of the measure μ is sufficiently dense.  相似文献

For fixed 1≦p<∞ theL p-semi-norms onR n are identified with positive linear functionals on the closed linear subspace ofC(R n ) spanned by the functions |<ξ, ·>| p , ξ∈R n . For every positive linear functional σ, on that space, the function Φσ:R n R given by Φσ is anL p-semi-norm and the mapping σ→Φσ is 1-1 and onto. The closed linear span of |<ξ, ·>| p , ξ∈R n is the space of all even continuous functions that are homogeneous of degreep, ifp is not an even integer and is the space of all homogeneous polynomials of degreep whenp is an even integer. This representation is used to prove that there is no finite list of norm inequalities that characterizes linear isometric embeddability, in anyL p unlessp=2. Let V be a finite dimensional p-adic vector space and let τ be an operator in GL(V). A probability measure μ on V is called τ-decomposable or if μ = τ(μ)* ρ for some probability measure ρ on V. Moreover, when τ is contracting, if ρ is infinitely divisible, so is μ, and if ρ is embeddable, so is μ. These two subclasses of are denoted by L 0(τ) and L 0 #(τ) respectively. When μ is infinitely divisible τ-decomposable for a contracting τ and has no idempotent factors, then it is τ-semi-selfdecomposable or operator semi-selfdecomposable. In this paper, sequences of decreasing subclasses of the above mentioned three classes, , are introduced and several properties and characterizations are studied. The results obtained here are p-adic vector space versions of those given for probability measures on Euclidean spaces.  相似文献

Let Γ be a regular curve and Lp(Γ),1<p<+∞, be the class of all complex-valued functions f defined on Γ which are such that |f|p is integrable in sense of Lebesgue. In this work, we define the kth p-Faber polynomial Fk.p(z), the kth p-Faber principle part ≈Fk.p(1/z) for Γ, and defined the nth p-Faber-Laurent rational function Rn,p(f, z) and p-generalized modulus of continuity Ωp of a function f of Lp(Γ). We investigate some properties of Fk.p(z) and ≈Fk.p(1/z). And then we prove a direct theorem characterizing the degree of approximation with respect to Ωp in the mean of functions of Lp(Γ) by the rational functions Rn.p(.,z).  相似文献

A sufficient condition is given when a subspaceLL 1(μ,X) of the space of Bochner integrable function, defined on a finite and positive measure space (S, Φ, μ) with values in a Banach spaceX, is locally uniformly convex renormable in terms of the integrable evaluations {∫ A fdμ;f∈L}. This shows the lifting property thatL 1(μ,X) is renormable if and only ifX is, and indicates a large class of renormable subspaces even ifX does not admit and equivalent locally uniformly convex norm.  相似文献

We point out that if the Hardy–Littlewood maximal operator is bounded on the space L p(t)(ℝ), 1 < ap(t) ≤ b < ∞, t ∈ ℝ, then the well-known characterization of the spaces L p (ℝ), 1 < p < ∞, by the Littlewood–Paley theory extends to the space L p(t)(ℝ). We show that, for n > 1 , the Littlewood–Paley operator is bounded on L p(t) (ℝ n ), 1 < ap(t) ≤ b < ∞, t ∈ ℝ n , if and only if p(t) = const. Let V be a finite dimensional p-adic vector space and let τ be an operator in GL(V). A probability measure μ on V is called τ-decomposable or m ? [(L)\tilde]0(t)\mu\in {\tilde L}_0(\tau) if μ = τ(μ)* ρ for some probability measure ρ on V. Moreover, when τ is contracting, if ρ is infinitely divisible, so is μ, and if ρ is embeddable, so is μ. When μ is infinitely divisible τ-decomposable for a contracting τ and has no idempotent factors, then it is τ-semi-selfdecomposable or operator semi-selfdecomposable. Given a complete separable σ-finite measure space (X,Σ, μ) and nested partitions of X, we construct unbalanced Haar-like wavelets on X that form an unconditional basis for Lp (X,Σ, μ) where1<p<∞. Our construction and proofs build upon ideas of Burkholder and Mitrea. We show that if(X,Σ, μ) is not purely atomic, then the unconditional basis constant of our basis is (max(p, q) −1). We derive a fast algorithm to compute the coefficients.  相似文献

Let (X, Σ, μ) be a σ-finite measure space,T a compact irreducible (positive, linear) operator onL p (μ) (1≦p<+∞). It is shown that the spectral radiusr ofT is characterized by the minimax property {fx196-1} where ∑0 denotes the ring of sets of finite measure and whereQ denotes the set of all, almost everywhere positive functions inL p. Moreover, ifr>0 then equality on either side is assumed ifff is the (essentially unique) positive eigenfunction ofT. Various refinements are given in terms of corresponding relations for irreducible finite rank operators approximatingT. Dedicated to H. G. Tillmann on his 60th birthday  相似文献

The singular integral operator J Ω,α, and the Marcinkiewicz integral operator (~μ)Ω,α are studied. The kernels of the operators behave like |y|-n-α(α>0) near the origin, and contain an oscillating factor ei|y|-β(β>0) and a distribution Ω on the unit sphere Sn-1 It is proved that, if Ω is in the Hardy space Hr (Sn-1) with 0<r= (n-1)/(n-1 )(>0), and satisfies certain cancellation condition,then J Ω,α and uΩ,α extend the bounded operator from Sobolev space Lpγ to Lebesgue space Lp for some p. The result improves and extends some known results.  相似文献

The principal result of this paper is that the convex combination of two positive, invertible, commuting isometries ofL p(X,F, μ) 1<p<+∞, one of which is periodic, admits a dominated estimate with constantp/p−1. In establishing this, the following analogue of Linderholm’s theorem is obtained: Let σ and ε be two commuting non-singular point transformations of a Lebesgue Space with τ periodic. Then given ε>O, there exists a periodic non-singular point transformation σ′ such that σ′ commutes with τ and μ(x:σ′x≠σx}<ε. Byan approximation argument, the principal result is applied to the convex combination of two isometries ofL p (0, 1) induced by point transformations of the form τx=x k,k>0 to show that such convex combinations admit a dominated estimate with constantp/p−1. LetG be an infinite compact abelian group,μ a Borel measure onG with spectrumE, and 0<p<1. We show that ifμ is not absolutely continuous with respect to Haar measure, thenL E P (G), the closure inL p (G) of theE-trigonometric polynomials, does not have enough continuous linear functionals to separate points. Ifμ is actually singular, thenL E p (G) does not have any nontrivial continuous linear functionals at all. Our methods recover the classical F. and M. Riesz theorem, and a related several variable result of Bochner; they reveal the existence of small sets of characters that spanL P (T), where T is the unit circle; and they show that theH p spaces of the “big disc algebra” have one-dimensional dual.  相似文献

Let X represent either the space C[-1,1] L p (α,β) (w), 1 ≦ p < ∞ on [-1, 1]. Then Xare Banach spaces under the sup or the p norms, respectively. We prove that there exists a normalized Banach subspace X 1 αβ of Xsuch that every f ∈ X 1 αβ can be represented by a linear combination of Jacobi polynomials to any degree of accuracy. Our method to prove such an approximation problem is Fourier–Jacobi analysis based on the convergence of Fourier–Jacobi expansions. This revised version was published online in June 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

Let μ be a compactly supported positive measure on the real line, with associated Christoffel functions λ n (d μ,⋅). Let g be a measurable function that is bounded above and below on supp[μ] by positive constants. We show that λ n (gd μ,⋅)/λ n (d μ,⋅)→g in measure in {x:μ′(x)>0} and consequently in all L p norms, p<∞. The novelty is that there are no local or global restrictions on μ. The main idea is a new maximal function estimate for the “tail” in Nevai’s operators.  相似文献

A general summability method, the so-called θ-summability is considered for multi-dimensional Fourier transforms. Under some conditions on θ, it is proved that the maximal operator of the θ-means defined in a cone is bounded from the amalgam Hardy space W(hp, e∞) to W(Lp,e∞). This implies the almost everywhere convergence of the θ-means in a cone for all f ∈ W(L1, e∞) velong to L1.  相似文献

Let μ be a measure on ℝn that satisfies the estimate μ(B r(x))≤cr α for allx ∈n and allr ≤ 1 (B r(x) denotes the ball of radius r centered atx. Let ϕ j,k (ɛ) (x)=2 nj2ϕ(ɛ)(2 j x-k) be a wavelet basis forj ∈ ℤ, κ ∈ ℤn, and ∈ ∈E, a finite set, and letP j (T)=Σɛ,k <T j,k (ɛ) j,k (ɛ) denote the associated projection operators at levelj (T is a suitable measure or distribution). IffLs p(dμ) for 1 ≤p ≤ ∞, we show thatP j(f dμ) ∈ Lp(dx) and ||P j (fdμ)||L p(dx)c2 j((n-α)/p′))||f||L p(dμ) for allj ≥ 0. We also obtain estimates for the limsup and liminf of ||P j (fdμ)||L p(dx) under more restrictive hypotheses. Communicated by Guido Weiss  相似文献

We consider an operator ϕ = Lϕ−: <CDU(x), Dϕ> in a Hilbert space H, where L is an Ornstein–Uhlenbeck operator, UW 1,4(H, μ) and μ is the invariant measure associated with L. We show that is essentially self-adjoint in the space L 2(H, ν) where ν is the “Gibbs” measure ν(dx) = Z −:1 e −:2U(x) dx. An application to Stochastic quantization is given. Marcinkiewicz Integrals with Non-Doubling Measures   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
Let μ be a positive Radon measure on which may be non doubling. The only condition that μ must satisfy is μ(B(x, r)) ≤ Cr n for all , r > 0 and some fixed constants C > 0 and n ∈ (0, d]. In this paper, we introduce the Marcinkiewicz integral related to a such measure with kernel satisfying some H?rmander-type condition, and assume that it is bounded on L 2(μ). We then establish its boundedness, respectively, from the Lebesgue space L 1(μ) to the weak Lebesgue space L 1,∞(μ), from the Hardy space H 1(μ) to L 1(μ) and from the Lebesgue space L (μ) to the space RBLO(μ). As a corollary, we obtain the boundedness of the Marcinkiewicz integral in the Lebesgue space L p (μ) with p ∈ (1,∞). Moreover, we establish the boundedness of the commutator generated by the RBMO(μ) function and the Marcinkiewicz integral with kernel satisfying certain slightly stronger H?rmander-type condition, respectively, from L p (μ) with p ∈ (1,∞) to itself, from the space L log L(μ) to L 1,∞(μ) and from H 1(μ) to L 1,∞(μ). Some of the results are also new even for the classical Marcinkiewicz integral. In [5], it is proved that a bounded linear operator u, from a Banach space Y into an Lp(S, ν) factors through Lp1 (S, ν) for some p1 > 1, if Y* is of finite cotype; (S, ν) is a probability space for p = 0, and any measure space for 0 < p < 1. In this paper, we generalize this result to uv, where u : YLp(S, ν) and v : XY are linear operators such that v* is of finite Ka?in cotype. This result gives also a new proof of Grothendieck's theorem. (© 2004 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

Let μ be a measure from a σ-algebra of subsets of a set T into a sequentially complete Hausdorff topological vector space X. Assume that μ is convexly bounded, i.e., the convex hull of its range is bounded in X, and denote by L 1(μ) the space of scalar valued functions on T which are integrable with respect to the vector measure μ. We study the inheritance of some properties from X to L 1(μ). We show that the bounded multiplier property passes from X to L 1(μ). Answering a 1972 problem of Erik Thomas, we show that for a rather large class of F-spaces X the non-containment of c 0 passes from X to L 1(μ).  相似文献
