Let μ be a measure on ℝn that satisfies the estimate μ(B r(x))≤cr α for allx ∈n and allr ≤ 1 (B r(x) denotes the ball of radius r centered atx. Let ϕ j,k (ɛ) (x)=2 nj2ϕ(ɛ)(2 j x-k) be a wavelet basis forj ∈ ℤ, κ ∈ ℤn, and ∈ ∈E, a finite set, and letP j (T)=Σɛ,k <T j,k (ɛ) j,k (ɛ) denote the associated projection operators at levelj (T is a suitable measure or distribution). IffLs p(dμ) for 1 ≤p ≤ ∞, we show thatP j(f dμ) ∈ Lp(dx) and ||P j (fdμ)||L p(dx)c2 j((n-α)/p′))||f||L p(dμ) for allj ≥ 0. We also obtain estimates for the limsup and liminf of ||P j (fdμ)||L p(dx) under more restrictive hypotheses. Communicated by Guido Weiss  相似文献

The Gelfand widths of the unit ball of H2(ν) (the weighted Hardy space) with respect to the metric of the space L(Tr) are considered (here Tr is the circle of radius r centered at the origin), as well as the Bernstein widths of the unit ball of H with respect to the metric of the space L2(Tr, μ). Asymptotic formulas for the widths in question are established for arbitrary measures ν, μ. Bibliography: 5 titles. Translated fromZapiski Nauchnykh Seminarov POMI, Vol. 232, 1996, pp. 134–140. LetX be a locally compact space, andT, a quasi-compact positive operator onC 0(X), with positive spectral radius,r. Then the peripheral spectrum ofT is a finite set of poles containingr, and the residue of the resolvent ofT at each peripheral pole is of finite rank. Using the concept of closed absorbing set, we develop an iterative process that gives the order,p, ofr, some special bases of the algebraic eigenspaces ker(T-r) p and ker(T *-r) p , and finally the dimension of the algebraic eigenspace associated to each peripheral pole.  相似文献

This paper deals with two possible definitions of recurrence in measure preserving systems. A set of integersR is said to be a set of (Poincaré) recurrence if, for all measure preserving systems (X, B, μ, T) and any measurable setA of positive measure, there is anr εR such thatμ(T r AA)>0.R is said to be a set of strong recurrence if, for all measure preserving systems (X, B, μ, T) and any measurable setA of positive measure, there is ane>0 and an infinite number of elementsr ofR such thatμ(T r AA)≥e (see Bergelson’s 1985 paper). This paper constructs a set of recurrenceR, an example of a measure preserving system (X, B, μ, T) and a measurable setA of measure 1/2, such that lim r→∞:rε (AT r A)=0. In particularR is a set of recurrence but not a set of strong recurrence, giving a negative answer to a question of Bergelson posed in 1985. Further, it also constructs a set of recurrence which does not force the continuity of positive measures and so reproves a result of Bourgain published in 1987. This paper forms a part of the author’s Ph.D. Thesis at the Ohio State University. The author wishes to thank his advisor, Professor Bergelson, for suggesting the problem of this paper and for his guidance.  相似文献

LetE be a bounded Borel subset of ℝn,n≥2, of positive Lebesgue measure andP E the corresponding ‘Pompeiu transform”. We prove thatP E is injective onL p(ℝn) if 1≤p≤2n/(n-1). We explore the connection between this problem and a Wiener-Tauberian type theorem for theM(n) action onL q(ℝn) for various values ofq. We also take up the question of whenP E is injective in caseE is of finite, positive measure, but is not necessarily a bounded set. Finally, we briefly look at these questions in the contexts of symmetric spaces of compact and non-compact type.  相似文献

Let Γ=(X,E) denote a bipartite distance-regular graph with diameter D≥4, and fix a vertex x of Γ. The Terwilliger algebra T=T(x) is the subalgebra of Mat X(C) generated by A, E * 0, E * 1,…,E * D, where A denotes the adjacency matrix for Γ and E * i denotes the projection onto the i TH subconstituent of Γ with respect to x. An irreducible T-module W is said to be thin whenever dimE * i W≤1 for 0≤iDi. The endpoint of W is min{i|E * i W≠0}. We determine the structure of the (unique) irreducible T-module of endpoint 0 in terms of the intersection numbers of Γ. We show that up to isomorphism there is a unique irreducible T-module of endpoint 1 and it is thin. We determine its structure in terms of the intersection numbers of Γ. We determine the structure of each thin irreducible T-module W of endpoint 2 in terms of the intersection numbers of Γ and an additional real parameter ψ=ψ(W), which we refer to as the type of W. We now assume each irreducible T-module of endpoint 2 is thin and obtain the following two-fold result. First, we show that the intersection numbers of Γ are determined by the diameter D of Γ and the set of ordered pairs
where Φ2 denotes the set of distinct types of irreducible T-modules with endpoint 2, and where mult(ψ) denotes the multiplicity with which the module of type ψ appears in the standard module. Secondly, we show that the set of ordered pairs {(ψ,mult(ψ)) |ψ∈Φ2} is determined by the intersection numbers k, b 2, b 3 of Γ and the spectrum of the graph , where
and where ∂ denotes the distance function in Γ. Combining the above two results, we conclude that if every irreducible T-module of endpoint 2 is thin, then the intersection numbers of Γ are determined by the diameter D of Γ, the intersection numbers k, b 2, b 3 of Γ, and the spectrum of Γ2 2. Consider (X,F, μ,T) a Lebesgue probability space and measure preserving invertible map. We call this a dynamical system. For a subsetAF. byT A:AA we mean the induced map,T A(x)=TrA(x)(x) wherer A(x)=min{i〉0:T i(x) ∈A}. Such induced maps can be topologized by the natural metricD(A, A’) = μ(AΔA’) onF mod sets of measure zero. We discuss here ergodic properties ofT A which are residual in this metric. The first theorem is due to Conze.Theorem 1 (Conze):For T ergodic, T A is weakly mixing for a residual set of A.Theorem 2:For T ergodic, 0-entropy and loosely Bernoulli, T A is rank-1, and rigid for a residual set of A.Theorem 3:For T ergodic, positive entropy and loosely Bernoulli, T A is Bernoulli for a residual set of A.Theorem 4:For T ergodic of positive entropy, T A is a K-automorphism for a residual set of A. A strengthening of Theorem 1 asserts thatA can be chosen to lie inside a given factor algebra ofT. We also discuss even Kakutani equivalence analogues of Theorems 1–4.  相似文献

We study minimal topological realizations of families of ergodic measure preserving automorphisms (e.m.p.a.'s). Our main result is the following theorem. Theorem: Let {Tp:p∈I} be an arbitrary finite or countable collection of e.m.p.a.'s on nonatomic Lebesgue probability spaces (Y p v p ). Let S be a Cantor minimal system such that the cardinality of the set ε S of all ergodic S-invariant Borel probability measures is at least the cardinality of I. Then for any collection {μ p :pεI} of distinct measures from ε S there is a Cantor minimal system S′ in the topological orbit equivalence class of S such that, as a measure preserving system, (S 1 p ) is isomorphic to Tp for every p∈I. Moreover, S′ can be chosen strongly orbit equivalent to S if and only if all finite topological factors of S are measure-theoretic factors of Tp for all p∈I. This result shows, in particular, that there are no restrictions at all for the topological realizations of countable families of e.m.p.a.'s in Cantor minimal systems. Namely, for any finite or countable collection {T 1,T2,…} of e.m.p.a.'s of nonatomic Lebesgue probability spaces, there is a Cantor minimal systemS, whose collection {μ1,μ2…} of ergodic Borel probability measures is in one-to-one correspondence with {T 1,T2,…}, and such that (S i ) is isomorphic toT i for alli. Furthermore, since realizations are taking place within orbit equivalence classes of a given Cantor minimal system, our results generalize the strong orbit realization theorem and the orbit realization theorem of [18]. Those theorems are now special cases of our result where the collections {T p}, {T p }{μ p } consist of just one element each. Research of I.K. was supported by NSF grant DMS 0140068.  相似文献

We prove that ifE is a Banach lattice andS, T ∈ ℒ (E) are such that 0≦sT,r(s)=r(T) andr(T) is a Riesz point ofσ(T) thenr(S) is a Riesz point ofσ(S). We prove also some results on compact positive perturbations of positive irreducible operators and lattice homomorphisms.  相似文献

We consider a group Γ of isometries acting on a proper (not necessarily geodesic) δ -hyperbolic space X. For any continuous α-quasiconformal measure ν on ∂X assigning full measure to Λ r , the radial limit set of Γ, we produce a (nontrivial) measure μ on Γ for which ν is stationary. This means that the limit set together with ν forms a μ-boundary and ν is harmonic with respect to the random walk induced by μ. As a basic example, take and Γ to be any geometrically finite Kleinian group with ν a Patterson-Sullivan measure for Γ. In the case when X is a CAT(−1) space and Γ is discrete with quasiconvex action, we show that (Λ r , ν) is the Poisson boundary for μ. In the course of the proofs, we establish sufficient conditions for a set of continuous functions to form a positive basis, either in the L 1 or L norm, for the space of uniformly positive lower-semicontinuous functions on a general metric measure space. Space-time means and solutions to a class of nonlinear parabolic equations   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
Cauchy problem and initial boundary value problem for nonlinear parabolic equation inCB([0,T):L p ) orL q (0,T; L p ) type space are considered. Similar to wave equation and dispersive wave equation, the space-time means for linear parabolic equation are shown and a series of nonlinear estimates for some nonlinear functions are obtained by space-time means. By Banach fixed point principle and usual iterative technique a local mild solution of Cauchy problem or IBV problem is constructed for a class of nonlinear parabolic equations inCB([0,T);L p orL q (0,T; L p ) with ϕ(x)∈L r . In critical nonlinear case it is also proved thatT can be taken as infinity provided that ||ϕ(x)||r is sufficiently small, where (p,q,r) is an admissible triple. In this paper, we calculate the space Ext GL(n 1 )(L n (λ), L n (μ)), where GL(n) is the general linear group of degree n over an algebraically closed field of positive characteristic, L n (λ) and L n (μ) are rational irreducible GL(n)-modules with highest weights λ and μ, respectively, the restriction of L n (λ) to any Levi subgroup of GL(n) is semisimple, λ is a p-restricted weight, and μ does not strictly dominate λ. __________ Translated from Fundamentalnaya i Prikladnaya Matematika, Vol. 11, No. 2, pp. 219–226, 2005.  相似文献

Let V be a finite dimensional p-adic vector space and let τ be an operator in GL(V). A probability measure μ on V is called τ-decomposable or m ? [(L)\tilde]0(t)\mu\in {\tilde L}_0(\tau) if μ = τ(μ)* ρ for some probability measure ρ on V. Moreover, when τ is contracting, if ρ is infinitely divisible, so is μ, and if ρ is embeddable, so is μ. These two subclasses of [(L)\tilde]0(t){\tilde L}_0(\tau) are denoted by L 0(τ) and L 0 #(τ) respectively. When μ is infinitely divisible τ-decomposable for a contracting τ and has no idempotent factors, then it is τ-semi-selfdecomposable or operator semi-selfdecomposable. In this paper, sequences of decreasing subclasses of the above mentioned three classes, [(L)\tilde]m(t) é Lm(t) é L#m(t), 1 £ m £ ¥{\tilde L}_m(\tau)\supset L_m(\tau) \supset L^\#_m(\tau), 1\le m\le \infty , are introduced and several properties and characterizations are studied. The results obtained here are p-adic vector space versions of those given for probability measures on Euclidean spaces.  相似文献

The two-dimensional classical Hardy space Hp(T×T) on the bidisc are introduced, and it is shown that the maximal operator of the (C,α,β) means of a distribution is bounded from the space Hp(T×T) to Lp(T2) (1/(α+1), 1/(β+1)<p≤∞), and is of weak type (H 1 # (T×T), L1(T2)), where the Hardy space H 1 # (T×T) is defined by the hybrid maximal function. As a consequence we obtain that the (C, α, β) means of a function f∈H 1 # (T×T)⊃LlogL(T 2) convergs a. e. to the function in question. Moreover, we prove that the (C, α, β) means are uniformly bounded on the spaces Hp(T×T) whenever 1/(α+1), 1(β+1)<p<∞. Thus, in case f∈Hp(T×T), the (C, α, β) means convergs to f in Hp(T×T) norm whenever (1/(α+1), 1/(β+1)<p<∞). The same results are proved for the conjugate (C, α, β) means, too. Let T and S be invertible measure preserving transformations of a probability measure space (X, ℬ, μ). We prove that if the group generated by T and S is nilpotent, then exists in L 2-norm for any u, vL (X, ℬ, μ). We also show that for A∈ℬ with μ(A)>0 one has . By the way of contrast, we bring examples showing that if measure preserving transformations T, S generate a solvable group, then (i) the above limits do not have to exist; (ii) the double recurrence property fails, that is, for some A∈ℬ, μ(A)>0, one may have μ(AT -n AS - n A)=0 for all n∈ℕ. Finally, we show that when T and S generate a nilpotent group of class ≤c, in L 2(X) for all u, vL (X) if and only if T×S is ergodic on X×X and the group generated by T -1 S, T -2 S 2,..., T -c S c acts ergodically on X. A sufficient condition is given when a subspaceLL 1(μ,X) of the space of Bochner integrable function, defined on a finite and positive measure space (S, Φ, μ) with values in a Banach spaceX, is locally uniformly convex renormable in terms of the integrable evaluations {∫ A fdμ;f∈L}. This shows the lifting property thatL 1(μ,X) is renormable if and only ifX is, and indicates a large class of renormable subspaces even ifX does not admit and equivalent locally uniformly convex norm.  相似文献

LetT be a complete theory of linear order; the language ofT may contain a finite or a countable set of unary predicates. We prove the following results. (i) The number of nonisomorphic countable models ofT is either finite or 2ω. (ii) If the language ofT is finite then the number of nonisomorphic countable models ofT is either 1 or 2ω. (iii) IfS 1(T) is countable then so isS n(T) for everyn. (iv) In caseS 1(T) is countable we find a relation between the Cantor Bendixon rank ofS 1(T) and the Cantor Bendixon rank ofS n(T). (v) We define a class of modelsL, and show thatS 1(T) is finite iff the models ofT belong toL. We conclude that ifS 1(T) is finite thenT is finitely axiomatizable. (vi) We prove some theorems concerning the existence and the structure of saturated models. Most of the results in this paper appeared in the author’s Master of Science thesis which was prepared at the Hebrew University under the supervision of Professor H. Gaifman.  相似文献

For 1 ≤p ≤ ∞ we show that there are no denting points in the unit ball of ℓ(lp). This extends a result recently proved by Grząślewicz and Scherwentke whenp = 2 [GS1]. We also show that for any Banach spaceX and for any measure space (Ω, A, μ), the unit ball of ℓ(L 1 (μ), X) has denting points iffL 1(μ) is finite dimensional and the unit ball ofX has a denting point. We also exhibit other classes of Banach spacesX andY for which the unit ball of ℓ(X, Y) has no denting points. When X* has the extreme point intersection property, we show that all ‘nice’ operators in the unit ball of ℓ(X, Y) are strongly extreme points.  相似文献
