Under fairly weak assumptions, the solutions of the system of Volterra equations x(t) = ∝0ta(t, s) x(s) ds + f(t), t > 0, can be written in the form x(t) = f(t) + ∝0tr(t, s) f(s) ds, t > 0, where r is the resolvent of a, i.e., the solution of the equation r(t, s) = a(t, s) + ∝0ta(t, v) r(v, s)dv, 0 < s < t. Conditions on a are given which imply that the resolvent operator f0tr(t, s) f(s) ds maps a weighted L1 space continuously into another weighted L1 space, and a weighted L space into another weighted L space. Our main theorem is used to study the asymptotic behavior of two differential delay equations.  相似文献

In this paper we use a theorem of Crandall and Pazy to provide the product integral representation of the nonlinear evolution operator associated with solutions to the semilinear Volterra equation: x(?)(t) = W(t, τ) ?(0) + ∝τtW(t, s)F(s, xs(?)) ds.Here the kernel W(t, s) is a linear evolution operator on a Banach space X; I is an interval of the form [?r, 0] or (?∞, 0] and F is a nonlinear mapping of R × C(I, X) into X. We study the inverse problem of the reconstruction of the coefficient ?(x, t) = ?0(x, t) + r(x) multiplying ut in a nonstationary parabolic equation. Here ?0(x, t) ≥ ?0 > 0 is a given function, and r(x) ≥ 0 is an unknown function of the class L(Ω). In addition to the initial and boundary conditions (the data of the direct problem), we pose the problem of nonlocal observation in the form ∫0Tu(x, t) (t) = χ(x) with a known measure (t) and a function χ(x). We separately consider the case (t) = ω(t)dt of integral observation with a smooth function ω(t). We obtain sufficient conditions for the existence and uniqueness of the solution of the inverse problem, which have the form of ready-to-verify inequalities. We suggest an iterative procedure for finding the solution and prove its convergence. Examples of particular inverse problems for which the assumptions of our theorems hold are presented.  相似文献

In the space of variables (x, t) ∈ ? n+1, we consider a linear second-order hyperbolic equation with coefficients depending only on x. Given a domain D ? ? n+1 whose projection to the x-space is a compact domain Ω, we consider the question of construction of a stability estimate for a solution to the Cauchy problem with data on the lateral boundary S of D. The well-known method for obtaining such estimates bases on the Carleman estimates with an exponential-type weight function exp(2τ?(x, t)) whose construction faces certain difficulties in case of hyperbolic equations with variable coefficients. We demonstrate that if D is symmetric with respect to the plane t = 0 then we can take ?(x, t) to be the function ?(x, t) = s 2(x, x 0) ? pt 2, where s(x, x 0) is the distance between points x and x 0 in the Riemannian metric induced by the differential equation, p is some positive number less than 1, and the fixed point x 0 can either belong to the domain Ω or lie beyond it. As for the metric, we suppose that the sectional curvature of the corresponding Riemannian space is bounded above by some number k 0 ≥ 0. In case of space of nonpositive curvature the parameter p can be taken arbitrarily close to 1; in this case as p → 1 the stability estimates lead to a uniqueness theorem which describes exactly the domain of the solution continuation through S. It turns out that, in case of space of bounded positive curvature, construction of a Carleman estimate is possible only if the product of k 0 and sup x∈Ω s 2(x, x 0) satisfies some smallness condition.  相似文献

Let K(s, t) be a continuous function on [0, 1] × [0, 1], and let K be the linear integral operator induced by the kernel K(s, t) on the space L2[0, 1]. This note is concerned with moment-discretization of the problem of minimizing 6Kx?y6 in the L2-norm, where y is a given continuous function. This is contrasted with the problem of least-squares solutions of the moment-discretized equation: ∝01K(si, t) x(t) dt = y(si), i = 1, 2,h., n. A simple commutativity result between the operations of “moment-discretization” and “least-squares” is established. This suggests a procedure for approximating K2y (where K2 is the generalized inverse of K), without recourse to the normal equation K1Kx = K1y, that may be used in conjunction with simple numerical quadrature formulas plus collocation, or related numerical and regularization methods for least-squares solutions of linear integral equations of the first kind.  相似文献

A simple result concerning integral inequalities enables us to give an alternative proof of Waltman's theorem: limt → ∞t0a(s) ds = ∞ implies oscillation of the second order nonlinear equation y″(t) + a(t) f(y(t)) = 0; to prove an analog of Wintner's theorem that relates the nonoscillation of the second order nonlinear equations to the existence of solutions of some integral equations, assuming that limt → ∞t0a(s) ds exists; and to give an alternative proof and to extend a result of Butler. Parabolic partial differential equations with overspecified data play a crucial role in applied mathematics and engineering, as they appear in various engineering models. In this work, the radial basis functions method is used for finding an unknown parameter p(t) in the inverse linear parabolic partial differential equation ut = uxx + p(t)u + φ, in [0,1] × (0,T], where u is unknown while the initial condition and boundary conditions are given. Also an additional condition ∫01k(x)u(x,t)dx = E(t), 0 ≤ tT, for known functions E(t), k(x), is given as the integral overspecification over the spatial domain. The main approach is using the radial basis functions method. In this technique the exact solution is found without any mesh generation on the domain of the problem. We also discuss on the case that the overspecified condition is in the form ∫0s(t) u(x,t)dx = E(t), 0 < tT, 0 < s(t) < 1, where s and E are known functions. We are concerned with the following Dirichlet problem: −Δu(x) = f(x, u), x∈Ω, uH 1 0(Ω), (P) where f(x, t) ∈C (×ℝ), f(x, t)/t is nondecreasing in t∈ℝ and tends to an L -function q(x) uniformly in x∈Ω as t→ + ∞ (i.e., f(x, t) is asymptotically linear in t at infinity). In this case, an Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz-type condition, that is, for some θ > 2, M > 0, 0 > θF(x, s) ≤f(x, s)s, for all |s|≥M and x∈Ω, (AR) is no longer true, where F(x, s) = ∫ s 0 f(x, t)dt. As is well known, (AR) is an important technical condition in applying Mountain Pass Theorem. In this paper, without assuming (AR) we prove, by using a variant version of Mountain Pass Theorem, that problem (P) has a positive solution under suitable conditions on f(x, t) and q(x). If one looks for an optimal (by criterion of minimal variance) linear estimate of s′(t) from the observation of u(t) = s(t) + n(t), where n(t) is noise and s(t) is useful signal, then one can derive an integral equation for the weight function of optimal estimate. This integral equation is often difficult to solve and, even if one can solve it, it is difficult to construct the corresponding filter. In this paper an optimal estimate of s′ on a subset of all linear estimates in sought and it is shown that this quasioptimal estimate is easy to calculate, the corresponding filter is easy to construct, and the error of this estimate differs little from the error of optimal estimates. It is also shown that among all estimates (linear and nonlinear) of s′ for ∥n∥ ? δ and ∥s″∥ ? M the best estimate is given by Δhu = (2h)?1 [u(t + h) ? u(t ? h)] with h = (M)12.  相似文献
