A hierarchy machine: Learning to optimize from nature and humans

This article proposes a competent hierarchical optimization method called the hierarchical Bayesian optimization algorithm (hBOA). hBOA extends the Bayesian optimization algorithm (BOA) by incorporating three important features for robust and scalable optimization of hierarchical problems: proper decomposition, chunking, and preservation of alternative solutions. Additionally, the article proposes a class of difficult hierarchical problems called hierarchical traps. hBOA is shown to provide a scalable solution to the class of hierarchically decomposable problems and anything easier. Specifically, hBOA can solve hierarchical traps and other nearly decomposable problems in approximately O(n^1.55 log n) to O(n²) function evaluations, where n is the number of decision variables in the problem. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.     

可靠度的E-Bayes估计、性质及应用

对二项分布的可靠度,提出了一种新的参数估计方法——E-Bayes估计法.在不同先验分布下,给出可靠度的E-Bayes估计和多层Bayes估计,并给出可靠度的E-Bayes估计的性质——E-Bayes估计和多层Bayes估计的关系.最后,给出了模拟算例,结果表明本文提出的方法可行且便于应用.     

无失效数据情形可靠性参数的估计和调整

本文在无失效取样情形下,提出了产品可靠性参数的一种估计和调整的方法———加权多层Bayes估计法.在无失效数据情形下失效率的多层Bayes估计和引进失效信息后失效率的多层Bayes估计的基础上,对可靠性参数进行了估计和调整———给出了失效率和可靠度的加权多层Bayes估计.最后,结合发动机的实际问题进行了计算,结果表明本文提出的方法可行且便于应用.     

E-Bayesian estimation of the reliability derived from Binomial distribution

This paper introduces a new parameter estimation method, named E-Bayesian estimation method, to estimate reliability derived from Binomial distribution. The definition of E-Bayesian estimation of the reliability is proposed, the formulas of E-Bayesian estimation and hierarchical Bayesian estimation of the reliability are also provided. Finally, it is shown, through a numerical example, that the new method is much simpler than hierarchical Bayesian estimation in practice.

本文讨论了协调集上双层规划问题解的性质,所得结论表明上层将所得利益全部让给下层,或下层将所得利益全部让给上层.当决策者不满足此种有效化方式时,必须寻找体现递阶结构的有效化方法.本文给出了一种保持递阶结构的递阶交互决策有效化方法.该方法适用于下层有多个平行子问题的双层线性规划.     

Hierarchical Elements,Local Mappings and the $h$-$p$ Version of the Finite Element Method (Ⅰ)

This is the first half of an article which develops a theory the hierarchical elements for the $h$-$p$ version of the finite element method in the two-dimensional case. The approximation properties of the hierarchical elements are discussed. The second part will address the convergence rate when geometric meshes are used.     

Estimating Frailty Models via Poisson Hierarchical Generalized Linear Models

Frailty models extend proportional hazards models to multivariate survival data. Hierarchical-likelihood provides a simple unified framework for various random effect models such as hierarchical generalized linear models, frailty models, and mixed linear models with censoring. Wereview the hierarchical-likelihood estimation methods for frailty models. Hierarchical-likelihood for frailty models can be expressed as that for Poisson hierarchical generalized linear models. Frailty models can thus be fitted using Poisson hierarchical generalized linear models. Properties of the new methodology are demonstrated by simulation. The new method reduces the bias of maximum likelihood and penalized likelihood estimates.     

The hierarchical basis multigrid method

Summary We derive and analyze the hierarchical basis-multigrid method for solving discretizations of self-adjoint, elliptic boundary value problems using piecewise linear triangular finite elements. The method is analyzed as a block symmetric Gauß-Seidel iteration with inner iterations, but it is strongly related to 2-level methods, to the standard multigridV-cycle, and to earlier Jacobi-like hierarchical basis methods. The method is very robust, and has a nearly optimal convergence rate and work estimate. It is especially well suited to difficult problems with rough solutions, discretized using highly nonuniform, adaptively refined meshes.     

竞争风险下纵列持续数据随机效应模型的估计与模拟研究

本文论证竞争风险下纵列持续数据随机效应模型属于广义线性模型的范畴,推导出用于模型估计的等级似然函数,将等级似然估计的运用由单风险扩展到竞争风险,并进行了模拟研究。模拟结果表明,对于竞争风险下的随机效应模型,等级似然估计能够给出协变量系数相当精确的估计,克服了忽略异质性影响所导致的偏差;模拟研究还表明,本文提出的估计方法同样适用于区间观测数据。
