An infinite family of cubic edge- but not vertex-transitive graphs is constructed. The graphs are obtained as regular -covers of K3,3 where n=p1e1p2e2pkek where pi are distinct primes congruent to 1 modulo 3, and ei1. Moreover, it is proved that the Gray graph (of order 54) is the smallest cubic edge- but not vertex-transitive graph.  相似文献

We form squares from the product of integers in a short interval [n, n + tn], where we include n in the product. If p is prime, p|n, and (2p) > n, we prove that p is the minimum tn. If no such prime exists, we prove tn √5n when n> 32. If n = p(2p − 1) and both p and 2p − 1 are primes, then tn = 3p> 3 √n/2. For n(n + u) a square > n2, we conjecture that a and b exist where n < a < b < n + u and nab is a square (except n = 8 and N = 392). Let g2(n) be minimal such that a square can be formed as the product of distinct integers from [n, g2(n)] so that no pair of consecutive integers is omitted. We prove that g2(n) 3n − 3, and list or conjecture the values of g2(n) for all n. We describe the generalization to kth powers and conjecture the values for large n.  相似文献

A face F of a polyhedral graph G(V,E,F) is an a1,a2,…,al-face if is an l-gon and the degrees d(xi) of the vertices xiV incident with in the cyclic order are ai,i=1,2,…,l. The lexicographic minimum b1,b2,…,bl such that is a b1,b2,…,bl-face is the type of . All polyhedral graphs having only one type of faces are listed. A construction is given for a (p2a(p+1),p2,p2a+1(p+1),p2a+1,p2a(p+1)) (p a prime) divisible difference set in the group H×Z2pa+1 where H is any abelian group of order p+1. This can be used to generate a symmetric semi-regular divisible design; this is a new set of parameters for λ1≠0, and those are fairly rare. We also give a construction for a (pa−1+pa−2+…+p+2,pa+2, pa(pa+pa−1+…+p+1), pa(pa−1+…+p+1), pa−1(pa+…+p2+2)) divisible difference set in the group H×Zp2×Zap. This is another new set of parameters, and it corresponds to a symmetric regular divisible design. For p=2, these parameters have λ12, and this corresponds to the parameters for the ordinary Menon difference sets.  相似文献

Let Z3 be the cyclic group of order 3. Define σ(Z3, m, n) to be the minimum integer k such that every bigraphic pair S=(a1,...,am; b1,...,bn) with am, bn ≥ 2 and σ(S)=a1 +... + amk has a Z3-connected realization. Let {pk}k≥3 be a sequence of nonnegative integers which satisfies 8 + Σk≥3 (k-4) pk = 0 and p4p3. Then there is a convex 4-valent polytope P in E3 such that P has exactly pk k-gons as faces. The inequality p4p3 is the best possible in the sense that for c < 1 there exist sequences that are not 4-realizable that satisfy both 8 + Σk ≥3 (k - 4) pk = 0 and p4 > cp3. An up–down permutation P=(p1,p2,…,pn) is a permutation of the integers 1 to n which satisfies constraints specified by a sequence C=(c1,c2,…,cn−1) of U's and D's of length n−1. If ci is U then pi<pi+1 otherwise pi−1>pi. A loopless algorithm is developed for generating all the up–down permutations satisfying any sequence C. The subset A ⊂ ${{\mathbb{Z}_N}}$ is considered as a pseudorandom subset of degree k if Pk(A, N) is “small” in terms of N. We establish a link between the Gowers norm and our pseudorandom measure, and show that “good” pseudorandom subsets must have “small” Gowers norm. We give an example to suggest that subsets with “small” Gowers norm may have large pseudorandom measure. Finally, we prove that the pseudorandom subset of degree L(k) contains an arithmetic progression of length k, where L(k) = 2·lcm(2, 4, . . . , 2|$\frac{k}{2}$|), for k ≥ 4, and lcm(a1, a2, . . . , al) denotes the least common multiple of a1, a2, . . . , al.  相似文献

In this paper we investigate the behaviour of the solutions of equations ΣI=1n aixi = b, where Σi=1n, ai = 0 and b ≠ 0, with respect to colorings of the set N of positive integers. It turns out that for any b ≠ 0 there exists an 8-coloring of N, admitting no monochromatic solution of x3x2 = x2x1 + b. For this equation, for b odd and 2-colorings, only an odd-even coloring prevents a monochromatic solution. For b even and 2-colorings, always monochromatic solutions can be found, and bounds for the corresponding Rado numbers are given. If one imposes the ordering x1 < x2 < x3, then there exists already a 4-coloring of N, which prevents a monochromatic solution of x3x2 = x2x1 + b, where b ε N.  相似文献

The chromatic difference sequence cds(G) of a graph G with chromatic number n is defined by cds(G) = (a(1), a(2),…, a(n)) if the sum of a(1), a(2),…, a(t) is the maximum number of vertices in an induced t-colorable subgraph of G for t = 1, 2,…, n. The Cartesian product of two graphs G and H, denoted by GH, has the vertex set V(GH = V(G) x V(H) and its edge set is given by (x1, y1)(x2, y2) ε E(GH) if either x1 = x2 and y1 y2 ε E(H) or y1 = y2 and x1x2 ε E(G).

We obtained four main results: the cds of the product of bipartite graphs, the cds of the product of graphs with cds being nondrop flat and first-drop flat, the non-increasing theorem for powers of graphs and cds of powers of circulant graphs.  相似文献

We construct the polynomial pm,n* of degree m which interpolates a given real-valued function f L2[a, b] at pre-assigned n distinct nodes and is the best approximant to f in the L2-sense over all polynomials of degree m with the same interpolatory character. The bandwidth B(G) of a graph G is the minimum of the quantity max{|f(x)−f(y)| : xyE(G)} taken over all proper numberings f of G. The composition of two graphs G and H, written as G[H], is the graph with vertex set V(GV(H) and with (u1,v1) is adjacent to (u2,v2) if either u1 is adjacent to u2 in G or u1=u2 and v1 is adjacent to v2 in H. In this paper, we investigate the bandwidth of the composition of two graphs. Let G be a connected graph. We denote the diameter of G by D(G). For two distinct vertices x,yV(G), we define wG(x,y) as the maximum number of internally vertex-disjoint (x,y)-paths whose lengths are the distance between x and y. We define w(G) as the minimum of wG(x,y) over all pairs of vertices x,y of G with the distance between x and y is equal to D(G). Let G be a non-complete connected graph and let H be any graph. Among other results, we prove that if |V(G)|=B(G)D(G)−w(G)+2, then B(G[H])=(B(G)+1)|V(H)|−1. Moreover, we show that this result determines the bandwidth of the composition of some classes of graphs composed with any graph.  相似文献

Let Mbe a monoid. A ring Ris called M-π-Armendariz if whenever α = a1g1+ a2g2+ · · · + angn, β = b1h1+ b2h2+ · · · + bmhmR[M] satisfy αβ ∈ nil(R[M]), then aibj ∈ nil(R) for all i, j. A ring R is called weakly 2-primal if the set of nilpotent elements in R coincides with its Levitzki radical. In this paper, we consider some extensions of M-π-Armendariz rings and further investigate their properties under the condition that R is weakly 2-primal. We prove that if R is an M-π-Armendariz ring then nil(R[M]) = nil(R)[M]. Moreover, we study the relationship between the weak zip-property (resp., weak APP-property, nilpotent p.p.-property, weak associated prime property) of a ring R and that of the monoid ring R[M] in case R is M-π-Armendariz.  相似文献

A connected graph is doubly connected if its complement is also connected. The following Ramsey-type theorem is proved in this paper. There exists a function h(n), defined on the set of integers exceeding three, such that every doubly connected graph on at least h(n) vertices must contain, as an induced subgraph, a doubly connected graph, which is either one of the following graphs or the complement of one of the following graphs:
(1) Pn, a path on n vertices;
(2) K1,ns, the graph obtained from K1,n by subdividing an edge once;
(3) K2,ne, the graph obtained from K2,n by deleting an edge;
(4) K2,n+, the graph obtained from K2,n by adding an edge between the two degree-n vertices x1 and x2, and a pendent edge at each xi.

Two applications of this result are also discussed in the paper.  相似文献
