If (X, p) and (Y, q) are two asymmetric normed spaces, the set LC(X, Y) of all continuous linear mappings from (X, p) to (Y, q) is not necessarily a linear space, it is a cone. If X and Y are two Banach lattices and p and q are, respectively, their associated asymmetric norms (p(x) = ‖+‖, q(y) = ‖y +‖), we prove that the positive operators from X to Y are elements of the cone LC(X, Y). We also study the dual space of an asymmetric normed space and finally we give open mapping and closed graph type theorems in the framework of asymmetric normed spaces. The classical results for normed spaces follow as particular cases. We consider the problem of embedding a certain finite metric space to the Euclidean space, trying to keep the bi-Lipschitz constant as small as possible. We introduce the notationc 2(X, d) for the least distortion with which the metric space (X, d) may be embedded in a Euclidean space. It is known that if (X, d) is a metric space withn points, thenc 2(X, d)≤0(logn) and the bound is tight. LetT be a tree withn vertices, andd be the metric induced by it. We show thatc 2(T, d)≤0(log logn), that is we provide an embeddingf of its vertices to the Euclidean space, such thatd(x, y)≤‖f(x)−f(y) ‖≤c log lognd(x, y) for some constantc. Let X be a topological space and (Y,d) be a metric space. If f: XY is a function then there is a function a f : X → [0, ∞] such that f is almost continuous at x if and only if a f (x) = 0. Some properties of this function are investigated. Supported by grant VEGA 2/6087/26 and APVT-51-006904.  相似文献

LetC(X,Y) be the space of continuous functions from a metric space (X,d) to a metric space (Y, e).C(X, Y) can be thought as subset of the hyperspaceCL(X×Y) of closed and nonempty subsets ofX×Y by identifying each element ofC(X,Y) with its graph. We considerC(X,Y) with the topology inherited from the Wijsman topology induced onCL(X×Y) by the box metric ofd ande. We study the relationships between the Wijsman topology and the compact-open topology onC(X,Y) and also conditions under which the Wijsman topology coincide with the Fell topology. Sufficient conditions under which the compactopen topology onC(X,Y) is weaker than the Wijsman topology are given (IfY is totally bounded, then for every metric spaceX the compactopen topology onC(X,Y) is weaker than the Wijsman topology and the same is true forX locally connected andY rim-totally bounded). We prove that a metric spaceX is boundedly compact iff the Wijsman topology onC(X, ℝ) is weaker than the compact-open topology. We show that ifX is a σ-compact complete metric space andY a compact metric space, then the Wijsman topology onC(X,Y) is Polish.  相似文献

In this paper, the linear isometry of the sequence space l(pv) into itself is specified as the automorphism of l(pv) onto itself, when (pv) satisfies the conditions, (i) 0 < pv? 1, (ii) 1 +d ? pv ? p < ∞,q < qv < 1+d/d,d > o When (pv) satisfies condition (ii),l (pv) andl (qv) are proved to be perfect spaces in the sense of Kothe and Toeplitz. A similar result connecting linear isometry and automorphism has been noted in the case of a non-normable complete linear metric space whose conjugate space is also determined.  相似文献

Let Y be a topological space and X a subspace of Y. We assume that X is the union of an increasing sequence of subspaces KS such that every quasi-compact subset of X is contained in some KS and the singular homology groups of all KS are finitely generated. The object of this paper is to give a purely algebraic characterisation of the following subgroup of Hq (X,Z): it consists of all those elements in Hq (X,Z) whose image in each of the Hq (KS,Z) lies in the image of the induced homomorphism Hq (Y,Z)Hq (KS,Z), These subgroups are encountered in Runge approximation theory. Partial results were obtained in an earlier common paper with K. Stein, [1].

The following result is proved: For everyε>0 there is aC(ε)>0 such that every finite metric space (X, d) contains a subsetY such that |Y|≧C(ε)log|X| and (Y, d Y) embeds (1 +ε)-isomorphically into the Hilbert spacel 2. LetL(X, Y) be the Banach space of all continuous linear operators fromX toY, and letK(X, Y) be the subspace of compact operators. Some versions of the classical Pitt theorem (ifp>q, thenK(l p, lq)=L(lp, lq)) for subspaces of Lorentz and Orlicz sequence spaces are established. Let T be a continuous map on a compact metric space (X, d). A pair of distinct points x, yX is asymptotic if lim n→∞ d(T n x, T n y) = 0. We prove the following four conditions to be equivalent: 1. h top(T) = 0; 2. (X, T) has a (topological) extension (Y,S) which has no asymptotic pairs; 3. (X, T) has a topological extension (Y ′, S′) via a factor map that collapses all asymptotic pairs; 4. (X, T) has a symbolic extension (i.e., with (Y ′, S′) being a subshift) via a map that collapses asymptotic pairs. The maximal factors (of a given system (X, T)) corresponding to the above properties do not need to coincide.  相似文献

A (p, q)-sigraph S is an ordered pair (G, s) where G = (V, E) is a (p, q)-graph and s is a function which assigns to each edge of G a positive or a negative sign. Let the sets E + and E consist of m positive and n negative edges of G, respectively, where m + n = q. Given positive integers k and d, S is said to be (k, d)-graceful if the vertices of G can be labeled with distinct integers from the set {0, 1, ..., k + (q – 1)d such that when each edge uv of G is assigned the product of its sign and the absolute difference of the integers assigned to u and v the edges in E + and E are labeled k, k + d, k + 2d, ..., k + (m – 1)d and –k, – (k + d), – (k + 2d), ..., – (k + (n – 1)d), respectively.In this paper, we report results of our preliminary investigation on the above new notion, which indeed generalises the well-known concept of (k, d)-graceful graphs due to B. D. Acharya and S. M. Hegde.  相似文献

Abstract

Let d be a positive integer, and F be a field of characteristic zero. Suppose that for each positive integer n, I n, is a GL n,(F)- invariant of forms of degree d in x1, …, x n, over F. We call {I n} an additive family of invariants if I p+q (fg) = I p(f).I q(g) whenever f; g are forms of degree d over F in x l, …, x p; …, x q respectively, and where (fg)(x l, …, x p+q) = f(x 1, …, x p,) + g (x p+1, …, x p+q). It is well-known that the family of discriminants of the quadratic forms is additive. We prove that in odd degree d each invariant in an additive family must be a constant. We also give an example in each even degree d of a nontrivial family of invariants of the forms of degree d. The proofs depend on the symbolic method for representing invariants of a form, which we review.  相似文献

Given an extremal process X: [0,∞)→[0,∞)d with lower curve C and associated point process N={(tk, Xk):k≥0}, tk distinct and Xk independent, given a sequence ζ n =(τ n , ξ n ), n≥1, of time-space changes (max-automorphisms of [0,∞)d+1), we study the limit behavior of the sequence of extremal processes Yn(t)=ξ n -1 ○ X ○ τn(t)=Cn(t) V max {ξ n -1 ○ Xk: tk ≤ τn(t){ ⇒ Y under a regularity condition on the norming sequence ζn and asymptotic negligibility of the max-increments of Yn. The limit class consists of self-similar (with respect to a group ηα=(σα, Lα), α>0, of time-space changes) extremal processes. By self-similarity here we mean the property Lα ○ Y(t) = d Y ○ αα(t) for all α>0. The univariate marginals of Y are max-self-decomposable. If additionally the initial extremal process X is assumed to have homogeneous max-increments, then the limit process is max-stable with homogeneous max-increments. All the diversities for [n,k,d]q codes with k3, d−2 (mod q) such that Ai=0 for all i0,−1,−2 (mod q) are found and characterized with their spectra geometrically, which yields that such codes are extendable for all odd q5. Double extendability is also investigated.  相似文献

A (p, q)-graph G is said to be (k, d)-arithmetic if its vertices can be assigned distinct nonnegative integers so that the values of the edges, obtained as the sums of the numbers assigned to their end vertices, can be arranged in the arithmetic progression k, k + d, k + 2d, …, k + (q - 1)d. In this paper we initiate a study on the structures of finite (k, d)-arithmetic graphs.  相似文献

We study boundedness and compactness properties for the Weyl quantization with symbols in Lq (?2d ) acting on Lp (?d ). This is shown to be equivalent, in suitable Banach space setting, to that of the Wigner transform. We give a short proof by interpolation of Lieb's sufficient conditions for the boundedness of the Wigner transform, proving furthermore that these conditions are also necessary. This yields a complete characterization of boundedness for Weyl operators in Lp setting; compactness follows by approximation. We extend these results defining two scales of spaces, namely L*q (?2d ) and L?q (R2d ), respectively smaller and larger than the Lq (?2d ),and showing that the Weyl correspondence is bounded on L*q (R2d ) (and yields compact operators), whereas it is not on L?q (R2d ). We conclude with a remark on weak‐type Lp boundedness (© 2009 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

We call an element of a finite general linear group GL(d, q) fat if it leaves invariant and acts irreducibly on a subspace of dimension greater than d/2. Fatness of an element can be decided efficiently in practice by testing whether its characteristic polynomial has an irreducible factor of degree greater than d/2. We show that for groups G with SL(d, q) ≤ G ≤ GL(d, q) most pairs of fat elements from G generate irreducible subgroups, namely we prove that the proportion of pairs of fat elements generating a reducible subgroup, in the set of all pairs in G × G, is less than q d+1. We also prove that the conditional probability to obtain a pair (g 1, g 2) in G × G which generates a reducible subgroup, given that g 1, g 2 are fat elements, is less than 2q d+1. Further, we show that any reducible subgroup generated by a pair of fat elements acts irreducibly on a subspace of dimension greater than d/2, and in the induced action the generating pair corresponds to a pair of fat elements.  相似文献

We study the maximal function Mf(x) = sup |f(x + y, t)| when Ω is a region in the (y,t) Ω upper half space R and f(x, t) is the harmonic extension to R+N+1 of a distribution in the Besov space Bαp,q(RN) or in the Triebel-Lizorkin space Fαp,q(RN). In particular, we prove that when Ω= {|y|N/ (N-αp) < t < 1} the operator M is bounded from F (RN) into Lp (RN). The admissible regions for the spaces B (RN) with p < q are more complicated.  相似文献
