Let R be a prime ring of characteristic different from 2, U the Utumi quotient ring of R, C = Z(U) the extended centroid of R, L a non-central Lie ideal of R, F a non-zero generalized derivation of R. Suppose that [F(u), u]F(u) = 0 for all u ε L, then one of the following holds:
  1. there exists α ε C such that F(x) = α x for all x ε R
  2. R satisfies the standard identity s 4 and there exist a ε U and α ε C such that F(x) = ax + xa + αx for all x ε R.
We also extend the result to the one-sided case. Finally, as an application we obtain some range inclusion results of continuous or spectrally bounded generalized derivations on Banach algebras.  相似文献

Let R be a noncommutative prime ring of characteristic different from 2, U the Utumi quotient ring of R, C the extended centroid of R, and L a noncentral Lie ideal of R. If F and G are generalized derivations of R and k ≥1 a fixed integer such that [F(x), x] k x ? x[G(x), x] k = 0 for any xL, then one of the following holds:
  1. either there exists an aU and an αC such that F(x) = xa and G(x) = (a + α)x for all xR
  2. or R satisfies the standard identity s 4(x 1, …, x 4) and one of the following conclusions occurs
  1. there exist a, b, c, qU, such that a ?b + c ?qC and F(x) = ax + xb, G(x) = cx + xq for all xR
  2. there exist a, b, cU and a derivation d of U such that F(x) = ax+d(x) andG(x) = bx+xc?d(x) for all xR, with a + b ? cC.

Let R be a prime ring of char R≠2, d a non-zero derivation of R and ρ a non-zero right ideal of R such that [[d(x),d(y)]n [y,x]m] = 0 for all x,y ∈ ρ or [[d(x),d(y)]n d[y,x]m] = 0 for all x,y ∈ ρ, n, m ≥ 0 are fixed integers. If [ρ,ρ]ρ ≠ 0, then d(ρ)ρ = 0.  相似文献

Given a lattice Λ ? Rn and a bounded function g(x), xRn, vanishing outside of a bounded set, the functions ?(x)g?(x)?maxu∈Λg(u +x), ?(x)?Σu∈Λ g(u +x), and ?+(x)?Σu∈Λ maxv∈Λ min {g(v + x); g(u + v + x)} are defined and periodic mod Λ on Rn. In the paper we prove that ?(x) + ?+(x) ? 2?(x) ≥ ?(x) + h?+(x) ? 2?(x) holds for all xRn, where h(x) is any “truncation” of g by a constant c ≥ 0, i.e., any function of the form h(x)?g(x) if g(x) ≤ c and h(x)?c if g(x) > c. This inequality easily implies some known estimations in the geometry of numbers due to Rado [1] and Cassels [2]. Moreover, some sharper and more general results are also derived from it. In the paper another inequality of a similar type is also proved.  相似文献

Let R be a prime ring with char R ≠ 2, L a non-central Lie ideal of R, d, g non-zero derivations of R, n ≥ 1 a fixed integer. We prove that if (d(x)x − xg(x)) n = 0 for all xL, then either d = g = 0 or R satisfies the standard identity s 4 and d, g are inner derivations, induced respectively by the elements a and b such that a + bZ(R).  相似文献

Let R be a prime ring with characteristic different from 2, let U be a nonzero Lie ideal of R, and let f be a generalized derivation associated with d. We prove the following results: (i) If aR and [a, f(U)] = 0 then aZ or d(a) = 0 or U ? Z; (ii) If f 2(U) = 0 then U ? Z; (iii) If u 2U for all uU and f acts as a homomorphism or antihomomorphism on U then either d = 0 or U ? Z.  相似文献

We apply elementary matrix computations and the theory of differential identities to prove the following: let R be a prime ring with extended centroid C and L a noncommutative Lie ideal of R. Suppose that f?:?L?→?R is a map and g is a generalized derivation of R such that [f(x),?g(y)]?=?[x,?y] for all x,?y?∈?L. Then there exist a nonzero α?∈?C and a map μ?:?L?→?C such that g(x)?=?αx for all x?∈?R and f(x)?=?α?1 x?+?μ(x) for all x?∈?L, except when R???M 2(F), the 2?×?2 matrix ring over a field F.  相似文献

We consider the quasilinear Schrödinger equations of the form ?ε2Δu + V(x)u ? ε2Δ(u2)u = g(u), x∈ RN, where ε > 0 is a small parameter, the nonlinearity g(u) ∈ C1(R) is an odd function with subcritical growth and V(x) is a positive Hölder continuous function which is bounded from below, away from zero, and infΛV(x) < inf?ΛV(x) for some open bounded subset Λ of RN. We prove that there is an ε0 > 0 such that for all ε ∈ (0, ε0], the above mentioned problem possesses a sign-changing solution uε which exhibits concentration profile around the local minimum point of V(x) as ε → 0+.  相似文献

The linear equation Δ2u = 1 for the infinitesimal buckling under uniform unit load of a thin elastic plate over ?2 has the particularly interesting nonlinear generalization Δg2u = 1, where Δg = e?2u Δ is the Laplace‐Beltrami operator for the metric g = e2ug0, with g0 the standard Euclidean metric on ?2. This conformal elliptic PDE of fourth order is equivalent to the nonlinear system of elliptic PDEs of second order Δu(x)+Kg(x) exp(2u(x)) = 0 and Δ Kg(x) + exp(2u(x)) = 0, with x ∈ ?2, describing a conformally flat surface with a Gauss curvature function Kg that is generated self‐consistently through the metric's conformal factor. We study this conformal plate buckling equation under the hypotheses of finite integral curvature ∫ Kg exp(2u)dx = κ, finite area ∫ exp(2u)dx = α, and the mild compactness condition K+L1(B1(y)), uniformly w.r.t. y ∈ ?2. We show that asymptotically for |x|→∞ all solutions behave like u(x) = ?(κ/2π)ln |x| + C + o(1) and K(x) = ?(α/2π) ln|x| + C + o(1), with κ ∈ (2π, 4π) and . We also show that for each κ ∈ (2π, 4π) there exists a K* and a radially symmetric solution pair u, K, satisfying K(u) = κ and maxK = K*, which is unique modulo translation of the origin, and scaling of x coupled with a translation of u. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Let n≥1 be a fixed integer, R a prime ring with its right Martindale quotient ring Q, C the extended centroid, and L a non-central Lie ideal of R. If F is a generalized skew derivation of R such that (F(x)F(y)?yx)n = 0 for all x,yL, then char(R) = 2 and R?M2(C), the ring of 2×2 matrices over C.  相似文献

We consider a convolution-type integral equation u = k ? g(u) on the half line (???; a), a ?? ?, with kernel k(x) = x ???1, 0 < ??, and function g(u), continuous and nondecreasing, such that g(0) = 0 and 0 < g(u) for 0 < u. In [2, Theorem 3], Bell and Kappe proved that if d is a derivation of a prime ring R which acts as a homomorphism or an anti-homomorphism on a nonzero right ideal I of R, then d = 0 on R. In the present paper our objective is to extend this result to Lie ideals. The following result is proved: Let R be a 2-torsion free prime ring and U a nonzero Lie ideal of R such that u 2U, for all uU. If d is a derivation of R which acts as a homomorphism or an anti-homomorphism on U, then either d=0 or U ?Z(R).  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to prove the existence of a solution for a nonlinear parabolic equation in the form ut - div(a(t, x, u, Du)) = H(t, x, u, Du) - div(g(t, x)) in QT =]0,T[×Ω, Ω ⊂ RN, with an initial condition u(0) = u0, where u0 is not bounded, |H(t,x, u, ξ)⩽ β|ξ|p + f(t,x) + βeλ1|u|f, |g|p/(p-1) ∈ Lr(QT) for some r = r{N) ⩾ 1, and - div(a(t,x,u, Du)) is the usual Leray-Lions operator.  相似文献

Let R be an integral domain with quotient field K and f(x) a polynomial of positive degree in K[x]. In this paper we develop a method for studying almost principal uppers to zero ideals. More precisely, we prove that uppers to zero divisorial ideals of the form I = f(x)K[x] ∩ R[x] are almost principal in the following two cases:
  • J, the ideal generated by the leading coefficients of I, satisfies J ?1 = R.
  • I ?1 as the R[x]-submodule of K(x) is of finite type.
Furthermore we prove that for I = f(x)K[x] ∩ R[x] we have:
  • I ?1K[x] = (I: K(x) I).
  • If there exists p/qI ?1 ? K[x], then (q, f) ≠ 1 in K[x]. If in addition q is irreducible and I is almost principal, then I′ = q(x)K[x] ∩ R[x] is an almost principal upper to zero.
Finally we show that a Schreier domain R is a greatest common divisor domain if and only if every upper to zero in R[x] contains a primitive polynomial.  相似文献

We consider weak solutions to the nonlinear boundary value problem (r, (x, u(x)) u′(x))′ = (Fu)′(x) with r(0, u(0)) u′(0) = ku(0), r(L, u(L)) u′(L) = hu(L) and k, h are suitable elements of [0, ∞]. In addition to studying some new boundary conditions, we also relax the constraints on r(x, u) and (Fu)(x). r(x, u) > 0 may have a countable set of jump discontinuities in u and r(x, u)?1?Lq((0, L) × (0, p)). F is an operator from a suitable set of functions to a subset of Lp(0, L) which have nonnegative values. F includes, among others, examples of the form (Fu)(x) = (1 ? H(x ? x0)) u(x0), (Fu)(x) = ∫xLf(y, u(y)) dy where f(y, u) may have a countable set of jump discontinuities in u or F may be chosen so that (Fu)′(x) = ? g(x, u(x)) u′(x) ? q(x) u(x) ? f(x, u(x)) where q is a distributional derivative of an L2(0, L) function.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce a new notion of generalized (Jordan) left derivation on rings as follows: let R be a ring, an additive mapping F : RR is called a generalized (resp. Jordan) left derivation if there exists an element wR such that F(xy) = xF(y) + yF(x) + yxw (resp. F(x 2) = 2xF(x) + x 2 w) for all x, yR. Then, some related properties and results on generalized (Jordan) left derivation of square closed Lie ideals are obtained.  相似文献

Let G be a bounded subset of Rn with a smooth boundary and Q = G × (0, T]. We consider a control problem governed by the Sobolev initial-value problem Myt(u) + Ly(u) = u in L2(Q), y(·, 0; u) = 0 in L2(G), where M = M(x) and L = L(x) are symmetric uniformly strongly elliptic operators of orders 2m and 2l, respectively. The problem is to find the control u0 of L2(Q)-norm at most b that steers to within a prescribed tolerance ? of a given function Z in L2(G) and that minimizes a certain energy functional. Our main results establish regularity properties of u0. We also give results concerning the existence and uniqueness of the optimal control, the controllability of Sobolev initial-value problems, and properties of the Lagrange multipliers associated with the problem constraints.  相似文献

Let R be a noncommutative prime ring and I a nonzero left ideal of R. Let g be a generalized derivation of R such that [g(r k ), r k ] n  = 0 for all r ∈ I, where k, n are fixed positive integers. Then there exists c ∈ U, the left Utumi quotient ring of R, such that g(x) = xc and I(c ? α) = 0 for a suitable α ∈ C. In particular we have that g(x) = α x, for all x ∈ I.  相似文献

We prove sufficient conditions for the convergence of the integrals conjugate to the double Fourier integral of a complex-valued function fL 1 (?2) with bounded support at a given point (x 0, g 0) ∈ ?2. It turns out that this convergence essentially depends on the convergence of the integral conjugate to the single Fourier integral of the marginal functions f(x, y 0), x ∈ ?, and f(x 0, y), y ∈ ?, at x:= x 0 and y:= y 0, respectively. Our theorems apply to functions in the multiplicative Lipschitz and Zygmund classes introduced in this paper.  相似文献
