We give a generalization of the Atiyah-Bott-Berline-Vergne localization theorem for the equivariant cohomology of a torus action. We replace the manifold having a torus action by an equivariant map of manifolds having a compact connected Lie group action. This provides a systematic method for calculating the Gysin homomorphism in ordinary cohomology of an equivariant map. As an example, we recover a formula of Akyildiz-Carrell for the Gysin homomorphism of flag manifolds.  相似文献

In 2006 Masuda and Suh asked if two compact non-singular toric varieties having isomorphic cohomology rings are homeomorphic. In the first part of this paper we discuss this question for topological generalizations of toric varieties, so-called torus manifolds. For example we show that there are homotopy equivalent torus manifolds which are not homeomorphic. Moreover, we characterize those groups which appear as the fundamental groups of locally standard torus manifolds. In the second part we give a classification of quasitoric manifolds and certain six-dimensional torus manifolds up to equivariant diffeomorphism. In the third part we enumerate the number of conjugacy classes of tori in the diffeomorphism group of torus manifolds. For torus manifolds of dimension greater than six there are always infinitely many conjugacy classes. We give examples which show that this does not hold for six-dimensional torus manifolds.  相似文献

A necessary and sufficient condition is presented for a set to be a Pompeiu subset of any compact homogeneous space with a finite invariant measure. The condition, which is expressed in terms of the intertwining operators of each primary summand of the quasi-regular representation, is then interpreted in the case of the compact Heisenberg manifolds. Examples are presented demonstrating that the condition to be Pompeiu in these manifolds is quite different from the corresponding condition for a torus of the same dimension. This provides a contrast with the existing comparison between the Heisenberg group itself and Euclidean space in terms of Pompeiu sets. In addition, the closed linear span of all translates of any square integrable function on any compact homogeneous space is determined.  相似文献

Some results related to the causality of compact Lorentzian manifolds are proven: (1) any compact Lorentzian manifold which admits a timelike conformal vector field is totally vicious, and (2) a compact Lorentzian manifold covered regularly by a globally hyperbolic spacetime admits a timelike closed geodesic, if some natural topological assumptions (fulfilled, for example, if one of the conjugacy classes of deck transformations containing a closed timelike curve is finite) hold. As a consequence, any compact Lorentzian manifold conformal to a static spacetime is geodesically connected by causal geodesics, and admits a timelike closed geodesic.  相似文献

The paper is devoted to applications of functional equations to well-known problems of compact torus actions on oriented smooth manifolds. These include the problem of Hirzebruch genera of complex cobordism classes that are determined by complex, almost complex, and stably complex structures on a fixed manifold. We consider actions with connected stabilizer subgroups. For each such action with isolated fixed points, we introduce rigidity functional equations. This is based on the localization theorem for equivariant Hirzebruch genera. We consider actions of maximal tori on homogeneous spaces of compact Lie groups and torus actions on toric and quasitoric manifolds. The arising class of equations contains both classical and new functional equations that play an important role in modern mathematical physics.  相似文献

The largest class of Riemannian almost product manifolds, which is closed with respect to the group of the conformal transformations of the Riemannian metric, is the class of the conformal Riemannian P-manifolds. This class is an analogue of the class of the conformal Kähler manifolds in almost Hermitian geometry. The main aim of this work is to obtain properties of manifolds of this class with connections, whose curvature tensors have similar properties as the Kähler tensors in Hermitian geometry.  相似文献

We consider simply connected compact Kähler manifolds which have a holomorphic action of a torus group. We use the existing equivariant models for rational homotopy to show that these spaces satisfy an equivariant formality condition over the complex numbers.  相似文献

This note contains considerations on the existence and non-existence problem of conformal scalar curvature equations on some complete manifolds. We impose two general types of conditions on complete manifolds. The first type is in terms of bounds on curvature and injectivity radius. The second type is in terms of some particular structures on ends of manifolds, for examples, manifolds with cones or cusps and conformally compact manifolds. We obtain non-existence results on both types of conditions. Then we study in more details the existence problem on manifolds with cones, manifolds with cusps and conformally flat manifolds of bounded positive scalar curvature.  相似文献

In this paper we construct compact manifolds with fixed boundary geometry which admit Riemannian metrics of unit volume with arbitrarily large Steklov spectral gap. We also study the effect of localized conformal deformations that fix the boundary geometry. For instance, we prove that it is possible to make the spectral gap arbitrarily large using conformal deformations which are localized on domains of small measure, as long as the support of the deformations contains and connects each component of the boundary.  相似文献

The main result of this paper is the conformal flatness of real-analytic compact Lorentz manifolds of dimension at least three admitting a conformal essential action of a Lie group locally isomorphic to \({{\mathrm{PSL}}}(2,\mathbf {R})\). It is established by using a general result on local isometries of real-analytic rigid geometric structures. As corollary, we deduce the same conclusion for conformal essential actions of connected semi-simple Lie groups on real-analytic compact Lorentz manifolds. This work is a contribution to the understanding of the Lorentzian version of a question asked by A. Lichnerowicz.  相似文献

We survey recent developments which led to the proof of the Benson-Gordon conjecture on Kähler quotients of solvable Lie groups. In addition, we prove that the Albanese morphism of a Kähler manifold which is a homotopy torus is a biholomorphic map. We give a classification of toric anti-self-dual conformal structures on compact 4-orbifolds with positive Euler characteristic. Our proof is twistor theoretic: the interaction between the complex torus orbits in the twistor space and the twistor lines induces meromorphic data, which we use to recover the conformal structure. A compact anti-self-dual orbifold can also be constructed by adding a point at infinity to an asymptotically locally Euclidean (ALE) scalar-flat K?hler orbifold. We use this observation to classify ALE scalar-flat K?hler 4-orbifolds whose isometry group contain a 2-torus.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the topology of a class of non-Kähler compact complex manifolds generalizing that of Hopf and Calabi-Eckmann manifolds. These manifolds are diffeomorphic to special systems of real quadrics C n which are invariant with respect to the natural action of the real torus (S 1) n onto C n . The quotient space is a simple convex polytope. The problem reduces thus to the study of the topology of certain real algebraic sets and can be handled using combinatorial results on convex polytopes. We prove that the homology groups of these compact complex manifolds can have arbitrary amount of torsion so that their topology is extremely rich. We also resolve an associated wall-crossing problem by introducing holomorphic equivariant elementary surgeries related to some transformations of the simple convex polytope. Finally, as a nice consequence, we obtain that affine non-Kähler compact complex manifolds can have arbitrary amount of torsion in their homology groups, contrasting with the Kähler situation.  相似文献

Summary In this paper, we are investigating curvature properties of complex two-dimensional Hermitian manifolds, particularly in the compact case. To do this, we start with the remark that the fundamental form of such a manifold is integrable, and we use the analogy with the locally conformal KÄhler manifolds, which follows from this remark. Among the obtained results, we have the following: a compact Hermitian surface for which either the Riemannian curvature tensor satisfies the KÄhler symmetries or the Hermitian curvature tensor satisfies the Riemannian Bianchi identity is KÄhler; a compact Hermitian surface of constant sectional curvature is a flat KÄhler surface; a compact Hermitian surface M with nonnegative nonidentical zero holomorphie Hermitian bisectional curvature has vanishing plurigenera, c1(M) 0, and no exceptional curves; a compact Hermitian surface with distinguished metric, and positive integral Riemannian scalar curvature has vanishing plurigenera, etc.  相似文献

We study local automorphisms of holomorphic Cartan geometries. This leads to classification results for compact complex manifolds admitting holomorphic Cartan geometries. We prove that a compact Kähler Calabi–Yau manifold bearing a holomorphic Cartan geometry of algebraic type admits a finite unramified cover which is a complex torus.  相似文献

This work deals with positively curved compact Riemannian manifolds which are acted on by a closed Lie group of isometries whose principal orbits have codimension one and are isotropy irreducible homogeneous spaces. For such manifolds we can show that their universal covering manifold may be isometrically immersed as a hypersurface of revolution in an euclidean space.  相似文献

We investigate holomorphic maps between compact generalized Hopf manifolds (i.e., locally conformal Kähler manifolds with parallel Lee form). We show that they preserve the canonical foliations. Moreover, we study compact complex submanifolds of g.H. manifolds and holomorphic submersions from compact g.H. manifolds.  相似文献

Let X be a Hadamard manifold and Γ⊂Isom(X) a discrete group of isometries which contains an axial isometry without invariant flat half plane. We study the behavior of conformal densities on the limit set of Γ in order to derive a new asymptotic estimate for the growth rate of closed geodesics in not necessarily compact or finite volume manifolds. We show that ifM is the total space of a holomorphic bundle with base space a simply connected homogeneous projective variety and fibre and structure group a compact complex torus, then the identity component of the automorphism group ofM acts trivially on the Dolbeault cohomology ofM. We consider a class of compact complex homogeneous spacesW, which we call generalized Hopf manifolds, which are diffeomorphic to S1 ×K/L whereK is a compact connected simple Lie group andL is the semisimple part of the centralizer of a one dimensional torus inK. We compute the Dolbeault cohomology ofW. We compute the Picard group of any generalized Hopf manifold and show that every line bundle over a generalized Hopf manifold arises from a representation of its fundamental group.  相似文献

A very important class of homogeneous Riemannian manifolds are the so-called normal homogeneous spaces, which have associated a canonical connection. In this study, we obtain geometrically the (connected component of the) group of affine transformations with respect to the canonical connection for a normal homogeneous space. The naturally reductive case is also treated. This completes the geometric calculation of the isometry group of naturally reductive spaces. In addition, we prove that for normal homogeneous spaces the set of fixed points of the full isotropy is a torus. As an application of our results it follows that the holonomy group of a homogeneous fibration is contained in the group of (canonically) affine transformations of the fibers; in particular, this holonomy group is a Lie group (this is a result of Guijarro and Walschap).  相似文献
