Our main result states that a bornological locally convex space having a suitable Boolean algebra of projections is ultrabornological. This general theorem, whose proof is a variation of the sliding-hump techniques used in [Díaz et al., Arch. Math. (Basel)60 (1993), 73-78; Díaz et al., Resultate Math.23 (1993), 242-250; Drewnowski el al., Proc. Amer. Math. Sec.114 (1992), 687-694; Drewnowski et al., Atti. Sem. Mat. Fis. Univ. Modena41 (1993), 317-329], is applied to prove that some non-complete normed spaces such as the spaces of Dunford, Pettis, or McShane integrable functions, as well as other interesting spaces of weakly or strongly measurable functions, are ultrabornological. We also give applications to vector-valued sequence spaces; in particular, we prove that ℓp{X} (1 ≤ p < ∞) is an ultrabornological DF-space when X is.  相似文献

The cyclic projections algorithm is an important method for determining a point in the intersection of a finite number of closed convex sets in a Hilbert space. That is, for determining a solution to the “convex feasibility” problem. This is the third paper in a series on a study of the rate of convergence for the cyclic projections algorithm. In the first of these papers, we showed that the rate could be described in terms of the “angles” between the convex sets involved. In the second, we showed that these angles often had a more tractable formulation in terms of the “norm” of the product of the (nonlinear) metric projections onto related convex sets.In this paper, we show that the rate of convergence of the cyclic projections algorithm is also intimately related to the “linear regularity property” of Bauschke and Borwein, the “normal property” of Jameson (as well as Bakan, Deutsch, and Li’s generalization of Jameson’s normal property), the “strong conical hull intersection property” of Deutsch, Li, and Ward, and the rate of convergence of iterated parallel projections. Such properties have already been shown to be important in various other contexts as well.  相似文献

Recently, assuming that the metric projection onto a closed convex set is easily calculated, Liu et al. (Numer. Func. Anal. Opt. 35:1459–1466, 2014) presented a successive projection algorithm for solving the multiple-sets split feasibility problem (MSFP). However, in some cases it is impossible or needs too much work to exactly compute the metric projection. The aim of this remark is to give a modification to the successive projection algorithm. That is, we propose a relaxed successive projection algorithm, in which the metric projections onto closed convex sets are replaced by the metric projections onto halfspaces. Clearly, the metric projection onto a halfspace may be directly calculated. So, the relaxed successive projection algorithm is easy to implement. Its theoretical convergence results are also given.  相似文献

The multiple-sets split feasibility problem (MSFP) is to find a point belongs to the intersection of a family of closed convex sets in one space, such that its image under a linear transformation belongs to the intersection of another family of closed convex sets in the image space. Many iterative methods can be employed to solve the MSFP. Jinling Zhao et al. proposed a modification for the CQ algorithm and a relaxation scheme for this modification to solve the MSFP. The strong convergence of these algorithms are guaranteed in finite-dimensional Hilbert spaces. Recently López et al. proposed a relaxed CQ algorithm for solving split feasibility problem, this algorithm can be implemented easily since it computes projections onto half-spaces and has no need to know a priori the norm of the bounded linear operator. However, this algorithm has only weak convergence in the setting of infinite-dimensional Hilbert spaces. In this paper, we introduce a new relaxed self-adaptive CQ algorithm for solving the MSFP where closed convex sets are level sets of some convex functions such that the strong convergence is guaranteed in the framework of infinite-dimensional Hilbert spaces. Our result extends and improves the corresponding results.  相似文献

Projections onto sets are used in a wide variety of methods in optimization theory but not every method that uses projections really belongs to the class of projection methods as we mean it here. Here, projection methods are iterative algorithms that use projections onto sets while relying on the general principle that when a family of (usually closed and convex) sets is present, then projections (or approximate projections) onto the given individual sets are easier to perform than projections onto other sets (intersections, image sets under some transformation, etc.) that are derived from the given family of individual sets. Projection methods employ projections (or approximate projections) onto convex sets in various ways. They may use different kinds of projections and, sometimes, even use different projections within the same algorithm. They serve to solve a variety of problems which are either of the feasibility or the optimization types. They have different algorithmic structures, of which some are particularly suitable for parallel computing, and they demonstrate nice convergence properties and/or good initial behavioural patterns. This class of algorithms has witnessed great progress in recent years and its member algorithms have been applied with success to many scientific, technological and mathematical problems. This annotated bibliography includes books and review papers on, or related to, projection methods that we know about, use and like. We show a modified version of Georgiev's parametric smooth variational principle, and we use it to derive new support properties of convex functions and sets. For example, our results imply that, for any proper l.s.c. convex nonaffine function h on a Banach space Y, D(∂h) is pathwise connected and R(∂h) has cardinality at least continuum. If, in addition, Y is Fréchet-smooth renormable, then R(∂h) is pathwise connected and locally pathwise connected. Analogous properties for support points and normalized support functionals of closed convex sets are proved; they extend and strengthen recent results proved by C. De Bernardi and the author for bounded closed convex sets.  相似文献

In this paper it is shown that every generalized Kuhn-Tucker point of a vector optimization problem involving locally Lipschitz functions is a weakly efficient point if and only if this problem is KT- pseudoinvex in a suitable sense. Under a closedness assumption (in particular, under a regularity condition of the constraint functions) it is pointed out that in this result the notion of generalized Kuhn–Tucker point can be replaced by the usual notion of Kuhn–Tucker point. Problems in signal detection and image recovery can sometimes be formulated as a convex feasibility problem (CFP) of finding a vector in the intersection of a finite family of closed convex sets. Algorithms for this purpose typically employ orthogonal or generalized projections onto the individual convex sets. The simultaneous multiprojection algorithm of Censor and Elfving for solving the CFP, in which different generalized projections may be used at the same time, has been shown to converge for the case of nonempty intersection; still open is the question of its convergence when the intersection of the closed convex sets is empty.Motivated by the geometric alternating minimization approach of Csiszár and Tusnády and the product space formulation of Pierra, we derive a new simultaneous multiprojection algorithm that employs generalized projections of Bregman to solve the convex feasibility problem or, in the inconsistent case, to minimize a proximity function that measures the average distance from a point to all convex sets. We assume that the Bregman distances involved are jointly convex, so that the proximity function itself is convex. When the intersection of the convex sets is empty, but the closure of the proximity function has a unique global minimizer, the sequence of iterates converges to this unique minimizer. Special cases of this algorithm include the Expectation Maximization Maximum Likelihood (EMML) method in emission tomography and a new convergence result for an algorithm that solves the split feasibility problem.  相似文献

In 2004, Lee et al. [C.C. Lee, M.S. Hwang, W.P. Yang, A new blind signature based on the discrete logarithm problem for untraceability, Appl. Math. Comput., in press] proposed a new untraceable blind signature based on DLP in order to overcome the “security limits” of Carmenisch et al.’s scheme. However, we show there are two mistakes in [C.C. Lee, M.S. Hwang, W.P. Yang, A new blind signature based on the discrete logarithm problem for untraceability, Appl. Math. Comput., in press]: 1. The Carmenisch et al.’s scheme does meet the requirement of untraceability and the cryptanalysis proposed by Lee et al. is not correct; 2. Though Lee et al.’s scheme is untraceable, the proof of its untraceability in [C.C. Lee, M.S. Hwang, W.P. Yang, A new blind signature based on the discrete logarithm problem for untraceability, Appl. Math. Comput., in press] is wrong (in this paper we also give the correct proof of its untraceability). So Lee et al.’s scheme does not have any advantage and it is unpractical since the cost of the scheme is higher compared with Carmenisch et al.’s scheme.  相似文献

The convex feasibility problem asks to find a point in the intersection of finitely many closed convex sets in Euclidean space. This problem is of fundamental importance in the mathematical and physical sciences, and it can be solved algorithmically by the classical method of cyclic projections.In this paper, the case where one of the constraints is an obtuse cone is considered. Because the nonnegative orthant as well as the set of positive-semidefinite symmetric matrices form obtuse cones, we cover a large and substantial class of feasibility problems. Motivated by numerical experiments, the method of reflection-projection is proposed: it modifies the method of cyclic projections in that it replaces the projection onto the obtuse cone by the corresponding reflection.This new method is not covered by the standard frameworks of projection algorithms because of the reflection. The main result states that the method does converge to a solution whenever the underlying convex feasibility problem is consistent. As prototypical applications, we discuss in detail the implementation of two-set feasibility problems aiming to find a nonnegative [resp. positive semidefinite] solution to linear constraints in n [resp. in , the space of symmetric n×n matrices] and we report on numerical experiments. The behavior of the method for two inconsistent constraints is analyzed as well.  相似文献

Generalized distances give rise to generalized projections into convex sets. An important question is whether or not one can use within the same projection algorithm different types of such generalized projections. This question has practical consequences in the area of signal detection and image recovery in situations that can be formulated mathematically as a convex feasibility problem. Using an extension of Pierra's product space formalism, we show here that a multiprojection algorithm converges. Our algorithm is fully simultaneous, i.e., it uses in each iterative stepall sets of the convex feasibility problem. Different multiprojection algorithms can be derived from our algorithmic scheme by a judicious choice of the Bregman functions which govern the process. As a by-product of our investigation we also obtain blockiterative schemes for certain kinds of linearly constraned optimization problems.  相似文献

For finite sets of probability measures, sufficiency is characterized by means of certain positively homogeneous convex functions. The essential tool is a discussion of equality in Jensen's inequality for conditional expectations. In particular, it is shown that characterizations of sufficiency by Csiszár's f-divergence (1963, Publ. Math. Inst. Hung. Acad. Sci. Ser. A, 8, 85–107) and by optimal solutions of a Bayesian decision problem used by Morse and Sacksteder (1966, Ann. Math. Statist., 37, 203–214) can be proved by the same method.  相似文献

In this paper, we present two Douglas–Rachford inspired iteration schemes which can be applied directly to N-set convex feasibility problems in Hilbert space. Our main results are weak convergence of the methods to a point whose nearest point projections onto each of the N sets coincide. For affine subspaces, convergence is in norm. Initial results from numerical experiments, comparing our methods to the classical (product-space) Douglas–Rachford scheme, are promising.  相似文献

This paper presents a signal and image recovery scheme by the method of alternating projections onto convex sets in optimum fractional Fourier domains. It is shown that the fractional Fourier domain order with minimum bandwidth is the optimum fractional Fourier domain for the method employing alternating projections in signal recovery problems. Following the estimation of optimum fractional Fourier transform orders, incomplete signal is projected onto different convex sets consecutively to restore the missing part. Using a priori information in optimum fractional Fourier domains, superior results are obtained compared to the conventional Fourier domain restoration. The algorithm is tested on 1-D linear frequency modulated signals, real biological data and 2-D signals presenting chirp-type characteristics. Better results are obtained in the matched fractional Fourier domain, compared to not only the conventional Fourier domain restoration, but also other fractional Fourier domains.  相似文献

We establish some new quantitative results on Steiner/Schwarz-type symmetrizations, continuing the line of results from [Bourgain et al. (Lecture Notes in Math. 1376 (1988), 44–66)] on Steiner symmetrizations. We show that if we symmetrize high-dimensional sections of convex bodies, then very few steps are required to bring such a body close to a Euclidean ball.  相似文献

We present a modification of Dykstra's algorithm which allows us to avoid projections onto general convex sets. Instead, we calculate projections onto either a half-space or onto the intersection of two half-spaces. Convergence of the algorithm is established and special choices of the half-spaces are proposed.The option to project onto half-spaces instead of general convex sets makes the algorithm more practical. The fact that the half-spaces are quite general enables us to apply the algorithm in a variety of cases and to generalize a number of known projection algorithms.The problem of projecting a point onto the intersection of closed convex sets receives considerable attention in many areas of mathematics and physics as well as in other fields of science and engineering such as image reconstruction from projections.In this work we propose a new class of algorithms which allow projection onto certain super half-spaces, i.e., half-spaces which contain the convex sets. Each one of the algorithms that we present gives the user freedom to choose the specific super half-space from a family of such half-spaces. Since projecting a point onto a half-space is an easy task to perform, the new algorithms may be more useful in practical situations in which the construction of the super half-spaces themselves is not too difficult.  相似文献

Basic properties of finite subsets of the integer lattice ℤn are investigated from the point of view of geometric tomography. Results obtained concern the Minkowski addition of convex lattice sets and polyominoes, discrete X-rays and the discrete and continuous covariogram, the determination of symmetric convex lattice sets from the cardinality of their projections on hyperplanes, and a discrete version of Meyer’s inequality on sections of convex bodies by coordinate hyperplanes.  相似文献

In this paper, we construct an iterative scheme and prove strong convergence theorem of the sequence generated to an approximate solution to a multiple sets split feasibility problem in a p-uniformly convex and uniformly smooth real Banach space. Some numerical experiments are given to study the efficiency and implementation of our iteration method. Our result complements the results of F. Wang (A new algorithm for solving the multiple-sets split feasibility problem in Banach spaces, Numerical Functional Anal. Optim. 35 (2014), 99–110), F. Scho¨pfer et al. (An iterative regularization method for the solution of the split feasibility problem in Banach spaces, Inverse Problems 24 (2008), 055008) and many important recent results in this direction.  相似文献
