A logarithmic Sobolev trace inequality is derived. Bounds on the best constant for this inequality from above and below are investigated using the sharp Sobolev inequality and the sharp logarithmic Sobolev inequality.

We begin by studying certain semigroup estimates which are more singular than those implied by a Sobolev embedding theorem but which are equivalent to certain logarithmic Sobolev inequalities. We then give a method for proving that such log-Sobolev inequalities hold for Euclidean regions which satisfy a particular Hardy-type inequality. Our main application is to show that domains which have exterior exponential cusps, and hence have no Sobolev embedding theorem, satisfy such heat kernel bounds provided the cusps are not too sharp. Finally, we consider a rotationally invariant domain with an exponentially sharp cusp and prove that ultracontractivity breaks down when the cusp becomes too sharp.  相似文献

Sharp asymptotic information is determined for the Gagliardo–Nirenberg embedding constants in high dimension. This analysis is motivated by the earlier observation that the logarithmic Sobolev inequality controls the Nash inequality. Moreover, one sees here that Hardy's inequality can be interpreted as the asymptotic limit of the logarithmic Sobolev inequality.  相似文献

We present a general criteria to prove that a probability measure satisfies a logarithmic Sobolev inequality, knowing that some of its marginals and associated conditional laws satisfy a logarithmic Sobolev inequality. This is a generalization of a result by N. Grunewald et al. [N. Grunewald, F. Otto, C. Villani, M.G. Westdickenberg, A two-scale approach to logarithmic Sobolev inequalities and the hydrodynamic limit, Ann. Inst. H. Poincaré Probab. Statist., in press].  相似文献

Following the equivalence between logarithmic Sobolev inequality, hypercontractivity of the heat semigroup showed by Gross and hypercontractivity of Hamilton-Jacobi equations, we prove, like the Varopoulos theorem, the equivalence between Euclidean-type Sobolev inequality and an ultracontractive control of the Hamilton-Jacobi equations. We obtain also ultracontractive estimations under general Sobolev inequality which imply in the particular case of a probability measure, transportation inequalities.  相似文献

A general Sobolev type inequality is introduced and studied for general symmetric forms by defining a new type of Cheeger's isoperimetric constant. Finally, concentration of measure for the Lp type logarithmic Sobolev inequality is presented.  相似文献

We provide a sufficient condition for a measure on the real line to satisfy a modified logarithmic Sobolev inequality, thus extending the criterion of Bobkov and Götze. Under mild assumptions the condition is also necessary. Concentration inequalities are derived. This completes the picture given in recent contributions by Gentil, Guillin and Miclo.  相似文献

We find a new sharp trace Gagliardo–Nirenberg–Sobolev inequality on convex cones, as well as a sharp weighted trace Sobolev inequality on epigraphs of convex functions. This is done by using a generalized Borell–Brascamp–Lieb inequality, coming from the Brunn–Minkowski theory.  相似文献

In this paper we introduce and study a weakened form of logarithmic Sobolev inequalities in connection with various others functional inequalities (weak Poincaré inequalities, general Beckner inequalities, etc.). We also discuss the quantitative behaviour of relative entropy along a symmetric diffusion semi-group. In particular, we exhibit an example where Poincaré inequality can not be used for deriving entropic convergence whence weak logarithmic Sobolev inequality ensures the result.   相似文献

We determine the sharp constant in the Hardy inequality for fractional Sobolev spaces. To do so, we develop a non-linear and non-local version of the ground state representation, which even yields a remainder term. From the sharp Hardy inequality we deduce the sharp constant in a Sobolev embedding which is optimal in the Lorentz scale. In the appendix, we characterize the cases of equality in the rearrangement inequality in fractional Sobolev spaces.  相似文献

Sobolev type inequalities for general symmetric forms   总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5

A general version of the Sobolev type inequality, including both the classical Sobolev inequality and the logarithmic Sobolev one, is studied for general symmetric forms by using isoperimetric constants. Some necessary and sufficient conditions are presented as results. The main results are illustrated by two examples of birth-death processes.

Some estimates of logarithmic Sobolev constant for general symmetric forms are obtained in terms of new Cheeger’s constants. The estimates can be sharp in some sense.  相似文献

This paper is devoted to various considerations on a family of sharp interpolation inequalities on the sphere, which in dimension greater than 1 interpolate between Poincaré, logarithmic Sobolev and critical Sobolev (Onofri in dimension two) inequalities. The connection between optimal constants and spectral properties of the Laplace-Beltrami operator on the sphere is emphasized. The authors address a series of related observations and give proofs based on symmetrization and the ultraspherical setting.  相似文献

We use here a particle system to prove both a convergence result (with convergence rate) and a deviation inequality for solutions of granular media equation when the confinement potential and the interaction potential are no more uniformly convex. The proof of convergence is simpler than the one in Carrillo–McCann–Villani (Rev. Mat. Iberoamericana 19:971–1018, 2003; Arch. Rat. Mech. Anal. 179:217–263, 2006). All the results complete former results of Malrieu (Ann. Appl. Probab. 13:540–560, 2003) in the uniformly convex case. The main tool is an uniform propagation of chaos property and a direct control in Wasserstein distance of solutions starting with different initial measures. The deviation inequality is obtained via a T 1 transportation cost inequality replacing the logarithmic Sobolev inequality which is no more clearly dimension free.   相似文献

This paper studies Brownian motion and heat kernel measure on a class of infinite dimensional Lie groups. We prove a Cameron-Martin type quasi-invariance theorem for the heat kernel measure and give estimates on the Lp norms of the Radon-Nikodym derivatives. We also prove that a logarithmic Sobolev inequality holds in this setting.  相似文献

This paper is devoted to results on the Moser-Trudinger-Onofri inequality, or the Onofri inequality for brevity. In dimension two this inequality plays a role similar to that of the Sobolev inequality in higher dimensions. After justifying this statement by recovering the Onofri inequality through various limiting procedures and after reviewing some known results, the authors state several elementary remarks. Various new results are also proved in this paper. A proof of the inequality is given by using mass transportation methods (in the radial case), consistently with similar results for Sobolev inequalities. The authors investigate how duality can be used to improve the Onofri inequality, in connection with the logarithmic Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality. In the framework of fast diffusion equations, it is established that the inequality is an entropy-entropy production inequality, which provides an integral remainder term. Finally, a proof of the inequality based on rigidity methods is given and a related nonlinear flow is introduced.  相似文献

In this paper we consider the Hodge Laplacian on differential k-forms over smooth open manifolds MN, not necessarily compact. We find sufficient conditions under which the existence of a family of logarithmic Sobolev inequalities for the Hodge Laplacian is equivalent to the ultracontractivity of its heat operator. We will also show how to obtain a logarithmic Sobolev inequality for the Hodge Laplacian when there exists one for the Laplacian on functions. In the particular case of Ricci curvature bounded below, we use the Gaussian type bound for the heat kernel of the Laplacian on functions in order to obtain a similar Gaussian type bound for the heat kernel of the Hodge Laplacian. This is done via logarithmic Sobolev inequalities and under the additional assumption that the volume of balls of radius one is uniformly bounded below.  相似文献

Sufficient conditions for the existence of extremal functions in the trace Sobolev inequality and the trace Sobolev-Poincaré inequality are established. It is shown that some of these conditions are sharp.  相似文献
