LetM be a Kaehler manifold of real dimension 2n with holomorphic sectional curvatureK H≥4λ and antiholomorphic Ricci curvatureρ A≥(2n−2)λ, andP is a complex hypersurface. We give a bound for the quotient (volume ofP)/(volume ofM) and prove that this bound is attained if and only ifP=C P n−1(λ) andM=C P n(λ). Moreover, we give some results on the volume of of tubes aboutP inM. Work partially supported by a DGICYT Grant No. PS87-0115-CO3-01.  相似文献

LetK be an algebraically closed field of characteristic,p>0 and letD λ be the simple modules of the symmetric groupS r overK where λ is a p-regular partition ofr. The dimensions ofD λ for λ with at mostn parts are the same as the multiplicities of direct summands ofD r whereE is the natural module for the groupGL n (K). Whenn=2 we determine generating functions for these multiplicities and hence for the dimensions ofD λ for all partitions λ with two parts. These can be expressed as rational functions of Chebyshev polynomials; and we obtain explicit formulae for the coefficients.  相似文献

We study the approximation of functions f(z) that are analytic in a neighborhood of zero by finite sums of the form H n (z) = H n (h, f, {λ k }; z) = Σ k=1 n λ k h(λ k z), where h is a fixed function that is analytic in the unit disk |z| < 1 and the numbers λ k (which depend on h, f, and n) are calculated by a certain algorithm. An exact value of the radius of the convergence H n (z) → f(z), n, and an order-sharp estimate for the rate of this convergence are obtained; an application to numerical analysis is given.  相似文献

The paper considers a boundary value problem with the help of the smallest closed extensionL :H kH k 0×B h 1×...×B h N of a linear operatorL :C (0) (R + n ) →L(R + n L(R n−1)×...×L(R n−1). Here the spacesH k (the spaces ℬ h ) are appropriate subspaces ofD′(R + n ) (ofD′(R n−1), resp.),L(R + n ) andC (0) (R + n )) denotes the linear space of smooth functionsR n C, which are restrictions onR + n of a function from the Schwartz classL (fromC 0 , resp.),L(R n−1) is the Schwartz class of functionsR n−1C andL is constructed by pseudo-differential operators. Criteria for the closedness of the rangeR(L ) and for the uniqueness of solutionsL U=F are expressed. In addition, ana priori estimate for the corresponding boundary value problem is established.  相似文献

Here proposed are certain asympotic expansion formulas for L n (∞-1) (λz) and C n (∞) (λz) in which 0<w=0(λ) and Cn/(w)(λz), z being a complex number. Also presented are certain estimates for the remainders (error bounds) of the asymptotic expansions within the regions D1(-∞<Rez<=1/2(ω/λ) and D2(1/2(ω/λ)<=Rez<∞), respectively. For an analytic function f on the hyperbolic domain Ω inC, the following conclusions are obtained: (i) f∈B(Ω)=BMO A(Ω,m) if and only ifRef∈Bh(Ω)=BMOH(Ω,m). (ii) QBh(Ω)=Bh(Ω)(BMOH n(Ω,m)=BMOH(Ω,m)) if and only ifC(Ω)=inf{λΩ(z)·δΩ(z):z∈Ω}>0. Also, some applications to automorphic functions are considered. LetM(z)=z n +…,N(z)=z n +… be analytic in the unit disc Δ and let λ(z)=N(z)/zN′(z). The classical result of Sakaguchi-Libera shows that Re(M′(z)/N′(z))<0 implies Re(M(z)/N(z))>0 in Δ whenever Re(λ(z))>0 in Δ. This can be expressed in terms of differential subordination as follows: for anyp analytic in Δ, withp(0)=1,p(z)+λ(z)zp′(z)<1+z/1−z impliesp(z)<1+z/1−z, for Reλ(z)>0,z∈Δ. In this paper we determine different type of general conditions on λ(z),h(z) and ϕ(z) for which one hasp(z)+λ(z)zp′(z)<h(z) impliesp(z)<ϕ(z)<h(z) z∈Δ. Then we apply the above implication to obtain new theorems for some classes of normalized analytic funotions. In particular we give a sufficient condition for an analytic function to be starlike in Δ.  相似文献

To every symmetric matrixA with entries ±1, we associate a graph G(A), and ask (for two different definitions of distance) for the distance ofG(A) to the nearest complete bipartite graph (cbg). Letλ 1(A),λ 1 (A) be respectively the algebraically largest and least eigenvalues ofA. The Frobenius distance (see Section 4) to the nearest cbg is bounded above and below by functions ofnλ 1 (A), wheren=ord A. The ordinary distance (see Section 1) to the nearest cbg is shown to be bounded above and below by functions ofλ 1 (A). A curious corollary is: there exists a functionf (independent ofn, and given by (1.1)), such that |λ i (A) | ≦f(λ 1(A), whereλ i (A) is any eigenvalue ofA other thanλ i (A). We consider the notion ofp, λ, δ-absolute continuity for Banach space valued mappings introduced in [2] for real valued functions and for λ=1. We investigate the validity of some basic properties that are shared byn, λ-absolutely continuous functions in the sense of Maly and hencl. We introduce the class δ-BV λ,locp and we give a characterization of the functions belonging to this class.  相似文献

For given analytic functions ϕ(z) = z + Σ n=2 λ n z n , Ψ(z) = z + Σ n=2 μ with λ n ≥ 0, μ n ≥ 0, and λ n ≥ μ n and for α, β (0≤α<1, 0<β≤1), let E(φ,ψ; α, β) be of analytic functions ƒ(z) = z + Σ n=2 a n z n in U such that f(z)*ψ(z)≠0 and
for z∈U; here, * denotes the Hadamard product. Let T be the class of functions ƒ(z) = z - Σ n=2|a n | that are analytic and univalent in U, and let E T (φ,ψ;α,β)=E(φ,ψ;α,β)∩T. Coefficient estimates, extreme points, distortion properties, etc. are determined for the class E T (φ,ψ;α,β) in the case where the second coefficient is fixed. The results thus obtained, for particular choices of φ(z) and ψ(z), not only generalize various known results but also give rise to several new results. University of Bahrain, Isa Town, Bahrain. Let Γ be a regular curve and Lp(Γ),1<p<+∞, be the class of all complex-valued functions f defined on Γ which are such that |f|p is integrable in sense of Lebesgue. In this work, we define the kth p-Faber polynomial Fk.p(z), the kth p-Faber principle part ≈Fk.p(1/z) for Γ, and defined the nth p-Faber-Laurent rational function Rn,p(f, z) and p-generalized modulus of continuity Ωp of a function f of Lp(Γ). We investigate some properties of Fk.p(z) and ≈Fk.p(1/z). And then we prove a direct theorem characterizing the degree of approximation with respect to Ωp in the mean of functions of Lp(Γ) by the rational functions Rn.p(.,z).  相似文献

We discuss families of meromorphic functions f h obtained from single functions f by the re-scaling process f h (z) = h −α f (h + h −β z), generalising Yosida’s process f h (z) = f (h + z). The main objective is to obtain information about the value distribution of the generating functions f themselves. Among the most prominent (generalised) Yosida functions are the elliptic functions and also some first, second and fourth Painlevé transcendents. The Yosida class A 0 contains all limit functions of generalised Yosida functions-the Yosida class is universal.  相似文献

We explore connections between Krein's spectral shift function ζ(λ,H 0, H) associated with the pair of self-adjoint operators (H 0, H),H=H 0+V, in a Hilbert spaceH and the recently introduced concept of a spectral shift operator Ξ(J+K *(H 0−λ−i0)−1 K) associated with the operator-valued Herglotz functionJ+K *(H 0−z)−1 K, Im(z)>0 inH, whereV=KJK * andJ=sgn(V). Our principal results include a new representation for ζ(λ,H 0,H) in terms of an averaged index for the Fredholm pair of self-adjoint spectral projections (E J+A(λ)+tB(λ)(−∞, 0)),E J((−∞, 0))), ℝ, whereA(λ)=Re(K *(H 0−λ−i0−1 K),B(λ)=Im(K *(H 0−λ-i0)−1 K) a.e. Moreover, introducing the new concept of a trindex for a pair of operators (A, P) inH, whereA is bounded andP is an orthogonal projection, we prove that ζ(λ,H 0, H) coincides with the trindex associated with the pair (Ξ(J+K *(H 0−λ−i0)K), Ξ(J)). In addition, we discuss a variant of the Birman-Krein formula relating the trindex of a pair of Ξ operators and the Fredholm determinant of the abstract scattering matrix. We also provide a generalization of the classical Birman—Schwinger principle, replacing the traditional eigenvalue counting functions by appropriate spectral shift functions.  相似文献

This is a continuation of our previous work. We classify all the simple ℋq(D n )-modules via an automorphismh defined on the set { λ | Dλ ≠ 0}. Whenf n(q) ≠ 0, this yields a classification of all the simple ℋ q (D n)- modules for arbitrary n. In general ( i. e., q arbitrary), if λ(1) = λ(2),wegivea necessary and sufficient condition ( in terms of some polynomials ) to ensure that the irreducible ℋq,1(B n )- module Dλ remains irreducible on restriction to ℋq(D n ).  相似文献

LetB be the unit ball ofC n , I give necessary conditions on sequenceS of points inB to beH (B) interpolating in term of aC n valued holomorphic function zero onS (a substitute for the interpolating Blaschke product). These conditions are sufficient to prove that the sequenceS is interpolating for ∩ p>1 (B) and is also interpolating forH p (B) for 1≤p<∞.  相似文献

We calculate the asymptotics of combinatorial sums ∑ α f(α)( α n ) β , whereα = (α 1, …,α h ) withα i =α j for certaini, j. Hereh is fixed and theα i ’s are natural numbers. This implies the asymptotics of the correspondingS n -character degrees ∑λ f(λ)d λ β . For certain sequences ofS n characters which involve Young’s rule, the latter asymptotics were obtained earlier [1] by a different method. Equating the two asymptotics, we obtain equations between multi-integrals which involve Gaussian measures. Special cases here give certain extensions of the Mehta integral [5], [6]. LetH be the algebra of bounded analytic functions in the unit diskD. LetI=I(f 1,...,f N) be the ideal generated byf 1,...,f NH andJ=J(f 1,...,f N) the ideal of the functionsf∈H for which there exists a constantC=C(f) such that |f(z)|≤C(|f 1 (z)|+...;+|f N (z)|),zD. It is clear that , but an example due to J. Bourgain shows thatJ is not, in general, in the norm closure ofI. Our first result asserts thatJ is included in the norm closure ofI ifI contains a Carleson-Newman Blaschke product, or equivalently, if there existss>0 such that
Our second result says that there is no analogue of Bourgain's example in any Hardy spaceH p, 1≤p<∞. More concretely, ifg∈H p and the nontangential maximal function of belongs toL p (T), theng is in theH p-closure of the idealI. Abstract  In this paper, we deal with some global existence results for the large data smooth solutions of the Cauchy Problem associated with the semilinear weakly hyperbolic equations
Here u=u(x,t), and for λ≥ 0, aλ≥ 0 is a continuous function that behaves as |tt0|λ close to some t0>0. We conjecture the existence of a critical exponent pc(λ1,λ2,n) such that for ppc(λ1,λ2,n) a global existence theorem holds. For suitable λ1,λ2,n, we recall some known results and add new ones. Let ϕ(r) = (ϕ1(r1), …, ϕn(rn)) be a vector-valued function on R + n . A necessary and sufficient condition is obtained under which any function f ∈, H (D n ), f(z) ≠ 0, z ∈, D n , is cyclic in the corresponding weighted space Lp(ϕ), where D n is the unit polydisk in C n. Denote byS * (⌕), (0≤⌕<1), the family consisting of functionsf(z)=z+a 2z2+...+anzn+... that are analytic and starlike of order ⌕, in the unit disc ⋎z⋎<1. In the present article among other things, with very simple conditions on μ, ⌕ andh(z) we prove the f’(z) (f(z)/z)μ−1<h(z) implies f∈S*(⌕). Our results in this direction then admit new applications in the study of univalent functions. In many cases these results considerably extend the earlier works of Miller and Mocanu [6] and others.  相似文献
