Let f be a triangular automorphism of the affine N-space of degree d with Jacobian 1 over a \({\mathbb{Q}}\) -algebra R. We introduce a weighted nilpotency index ν(f) for f, and give a bound of deg(f n ) in terms of N, d and ν(f) for all \({n \in \mathbb{Z}}\) . When N = 2, our formula, combined with computation of the Hilbert series of certain graded algebras, yields the estimate deg(f n ) ≤ d 2 ? d + 1 for all \({n \in \mathbb{Z}}\) . If n varies through all integers, this estimate turns out to be sharp and is related, somewhat unexpectedly, to the Schubert calculus on the Grassmannian G(d ? 1, 2d ? 2). Numerical computation for small degrees suggests that this estimate restricted to the inverse degree (i.e. n = ?1) is also sharp if d ≥ 3.  相似文献

Let ${\Omega\subset\mathbb{R}^{n}}$ be a domain. We show that each homeomorphism f in the Sobolev space ${W^{1,1}_{\rm loc}(\Omega,\mathbb{R}^{n})}$ satisfies either J f  ≥ 0 a.e or J f  ≤ 0 a.e. if n = 2 or n = 3. For n > 3 we prove the same conclusion under the stronger assumption that ${f\in W^{1,s}_{\rm loc}(\Omega,\mathbb{R}^{n})}$ for some s > [n/2] (or in the setting of Lorentz spaces).  相似文献

We consider smooth finitely C 0- ${\mathcal{K}}$ -determined map germs ${f : (\mathbb{R}^n, 0) \to (\mathbb{R}^p, 0)}$ and we look at the classification under C 0- ${\mathcal{K}}$ -equivalence. The main tool is the homotopy type of the link, which is obtained by intersecting the image of f with a small enough sphere centered at the origin. When f ?1(0) = {0}, the link is a smooth map between spheres and f is C 0- ${\mathcal{K}}$ -equivalent to the cone of its link. When f ?1(0) ≠ {0}, we consider a link diagram, which contains some extra information, but again f is C 0- ${\mathcal{K}}$ -equivalent to the generalized cone. As a consequence, we deduce some known results due to Nishimura (for np) or the first named author (for np). We also prove some new results of the same nature.  相似文献

We characterize polynomials f with integer coefficients such that a ring with unity R is necessarily commutative if f(R) = 0, in the sense that f(x) = 0 for all ${x \in R}$ . Such a polynomial must be primitive, and for primitive polynomials the condition f(R) = 0 forces R to have nonzero characteristic. The task is then reduced to considering rings of prime power characteristic and the main step towards the full characterization is a characterization of polynomials f such that R is necessarily commutative if f(R) = 0 and R is a unital ring of characteristic some power of a fixed prime p.  相似文献

We determine nontrivial intervals \({I \subset(0,+\infty)}\) , numbers \({\alpha\in\mathbb R}\) and continuous bijections \({f \colon I \to I}\) such that f(x)f ?1(x) = x α for every \({x\in I}\) .  相似文献

Let ${\vartheta}$ be a measure on the polydisc ${\mathbb{D}^n}$ which is the product of n regular Borel probability measures so that ${\vartheta([r,1)^n\times\mathbb{T}^n) >0 }$ for all 0 < r < 1. The Bergman space ${A^2_{\vartheta}}$ consists of all holomorphic functions that are square integrable with respect to ${\vartheta}$ . In one dimension, it is well known that if f is continuous on the closed disc ${\overline{\mathbb{D}}}$ , then the Hankel operator H f is compact on ${A^2_\vartheta}$ . In this paper we show that for n ≥ 2 and f a continuous function on ${{\overline{\mathbb{D}}}^n}$ , H f is compact on ${A^2_\vartheta}$ if and only if there is a decomposition f = h + g, where h belongs to ${A^2_\vartheta}$ and ${\lim_{z\to\partial\mathbb{D}^n}g(z)=0}$ .  相似文献

For $n \in \mathbb{N}$ , the n-order of an analytic function f in the unit disc D is defined by $$\sigma _{{{M,n}}} (f) = {\mathop {\lim \sup }\limits_{r \to 1^{ - } } }\frac{{\log ^{ + }_{{n + 1}} M(r,f)}} {{ - \log (1 - r)}},$$ where log+ x  =  max{log x, 0}, log + 1 x  =  log + x, log + n+1 x  =  log + log + n x, and M(r, f) is the maximum modulus of f on the circle of radius r centered at the origin. It is shown, for example, that the solutions f of the complex linear differential equation $$f^{{(k)}} + a_{{k - 1}} (z)f^{{(k - 1)}} + \cdots + a_{1} (z)f^{\prime} + a_{0} (z)f = 0,\quad \quad \quad (\dag)$$ where the coefficients are analytic in D, satisfy σ M,n+1(f)  ≤  α if and only if σ M,n (a j )  ≤  α for all j  =  0, ..., k ? 1. Moreover, if q ∈{0, ..., k ? 1} is the largest index for which $\sigma _{M,n} ( a_{q}) = {\mathop {\max }\limits_{0 \leq j \leq k - 1} }{\left\{ {\sigma _{{M,n}} {\left( {a_{j} } \right)}} \right\}}$ , then there are at least k ? q linearly independent solutions f of ( $\dag$ ) such that σ M,n+1(f) = σ M,n (a q ). Some refinements of these results in terms of the n-type of an analytic function in D are also given.  相似文献

Let ${U \subset \mathbb{R}^{N}}$ be a neighbourhood of the origin and a function ${F:U\rightarrow U}$ be of class C r , r ≥ 2, F(0) = 0. Denote by F n the n-th iterate of F and let ${0<|s_1|\leq \cdots \leq|s_N| <1 }$ , where ${s_1, \ldots , s_N}$ are the eigenvalues of dF(0). Assume that the Schröder equation ${\varphi(F(x))=S\varphi(x)}$ , where S: = dF(0) has a C 2 solution φ such that dφ(0) = id. If ${\frac{log|s_1|}{log|s_N|} <2 }$ then the sequence {S ?n F n (x)} converges for every point x from the basin of attraction of F to a C 2 solution φ of (1). If ${2\leq\frac{log|s_1|}{log|s_N|} }$ then this sequence can be diverging. In this case we give some sufficient conditions for the convergence and divergence of the sequence {S ?n F n (x)}. Moreover, we show that if F is of class C r and ${r>\big[\frac{log|s_1|}{log|s_N|} \big ]:=p \geq 2}$ then every C r solution of the Schröder equation such that dφ(0) = id is given by the formula $$\begin{array}{ll}\varphi (x)={\lim\limits_{n \rightarrow \infty}} (S^{-n}F^n(x) + {\sum\limits _{k=2}^{p}} S^{-n}L_k (F^n(x))),\end{array}$$ where ${L_k:\mathbb{R}^{N} \rightarrow \mathbb{R}^{N}}$ are some homogeneous polynomials of degree k, which are determined by the differentials d (j) F(0) for 1 < j ≤  p.  相似文献

We study the Laplace equation in the half-space ${\mathbb{R}_{+}^{n}}$ with a nonlinear supercritical Robin boundary condition ${\frac{\partial u}{\partial\eta }+\lambda u=u\left\vert u\right\vert^{\rho-1}+f(x)}$ on ${\partial \mathbb{R}_{+}^{n}=\mathbb{R}^{n-1}}$ , where n ≥ 3 and λ ≥ 0. Existence of solutions ${u \in E_{pq}= \mathcal{D}^{1, p}(\mathbb{R}_{+}^{n}) \cap L^{q}(\mathbb{R}_{+}^{n})}$ is obtained by means of a fixed point argument for a small data $f \in {L^{d}(\mathbb{R}^{n-1})}$ . The indexes p, q are chosen for the norm ${\Vert\cdot\Vert_{E_{pq}}}$ to be invariant by scaling of the boundary problem. The solution u is positive whether f(x) > 0 a.e. ${x\in\mathbb{R}^{n-1}}$ . When f is radially symmetric, u is invariant under rotations around the axis {x n  = 0}. Moreover, in a certain L q -norm, we show that solutions depend continuously on the parameter λ ≥ 0.  相似文献

Two problems are posed that involve the star-invariant subspace ${K^{p}_{\theta}}$ (in the Hardy space H p ) associated with an inner function ${\theta}$ . One of these asks for a characterization of the extreme points of the unit ball in ${K^{\infty}_{\theta}}$ , while the other concerns the Fermat equation f n g n h n in ${K^{p}_{\theta}}$ .  相似文献

We asymptotically solve an open problem raised independently by Sterboul (Colloq Math Soc J Bolyai 3:1387–1404, 1973), Arocha et al. (J Graph Theory 16:319–326, 1992) and Voloshin (Australas J Combin 11:25–45, 1995). For integers nk ≥ 2, let f(n, k) denote the minimum cardinality of a family ${\mathcal H}$ of k-element sets over an n-element underlying set X such that every partition ${X_1\cup\cdots\cup X_k=X}$ into k nonempty classes completely partitions some ${H\in\mathcal H}$ ;  that is, ${|H\cap X_i|=1}$ holds for all 1 ≤ ik. This very natural function—whose defining property for k = 2 just means that ${\mathcal H}$ is a connected graph—turns out to be related to several extensively studied areas in combinatorics and graph theory. We prove general estimates from which ${ f(n,k) = (1+o(1))\, \tfrac{2}{n}\,{n\choose k}}$ follows for every fixed k, and also for all k = o(n 1/3), as n → ∞. Further, we disprove a conjecture of Arocha et al. (1992). The exact determination of f(n,k) for all n and k appears to be far beyond reach to our present knowledge, since e.g. the equality ${f(n,n-2)={n-2\choose 2}-{\rm ex}(n,\{C_3,C_4\})}$ holds, where the last term is the Turán number for graphs of girth 5.  相似文献

For an immersed hypersurface ${f : M^n \rightarrow R^{n+1}}$ without umbilical points, one can define the Möbius metric g on f which is invariant under the Möbius transformation group. The volume functional of g is a generalization of the well-known Willmore functional, whose critical points are called Willmore hypersurfaces. In this paper, we prove that if a n-dimensional Willmore hypersurfaces ${(n \geq 3)}$ has constant sectional curvature c with respect to g, then c = 0, n = 3, and this Willmore hypersurface is Möbius equivalent to the cone over the Clifford torus in ${S^{3} \subset R^{4}}$ . Moreover, we extend our previous classification of hypersurfaces with constant Möbius curvature of dimension ${n \ge 4}$ to n = 3, showing that they are cones over the homogeneous torus ${S^1(r) \times S^1(\sqrt{1 - r^2}) \subset S^3}$ , or cylinders, cones, rotational hypersurfaces over certain spirals in the space form R 2, S 2, H 2, respectively.  相似文献

This work deals with the solvability near the characteristic set Σ = {0} × S 1 of operators of the form \({L=\partial/\partial t + (x^na(x) + ix^mb(x))\partial/\partial x}\), \({b\not\equiv0}\) and a(0) ≠ 0, defined on \({\Omega_\epsilon=(-\epsilon,\epsilon)\times S^1}\), \({\epsilon >0 }\), where a and b are real-valued smooth functions in \({(-\epsilon,\epsilon)}\) and m ≥ 2n. It is shown that given f belonging to a subspace of finite codimension of \({C^\infty(\Omega_\epsilon)}\) there is a solution \({u\in L^\infty}\) of the equation Lu = f in a neighborhood of Σ; moreover, the L regularity is sharp.  相似文献

This paper relates the multiple point spaces in the source and target of a corank 1 map-germ ${(\mathbb {C}^n, 0)\to(\mathbb {C}^{n+1}, 0)}$ . Let f be such a map-germ, and, for 1 ≤ k ≤ multiplicity( f ), let D k ( f ) be its k’th multiple point scheme – the closure of the set of ordered k-tuples of pairwise distinct points sharing the same image. There are natural projections D k+1( f ) → D k ( f ), determined by forgetting one member of the (k + 1)-tuple. We prove that the matrix of a presentation of ${\mathcal {O}_{D^{k+1}(f)}}$ over ${\mathcal {O}_{D^k(f)}}$ appears as a certain submatrix of the matrix of a suitable presentation of ${\mathcal {O}_{\mathbb {C}^n,0}}$ over ${\mathcal {O}_{\mathbb {C}^{n+1},0}}$ . This does not happen for germs of corank > 1.  相似文献

In this note we find sufficient conditions for uniqueness of expansion of any two functionsf(z) and g(z) which are analytic in the circle ¦ z ¦ < R (0 < R <∞) in series $$f(z) = \sum\nolimits_{n = 0}^\infty {(a_n f_2 (z) + b_n g_n (z))}$$ and $$g_i (z) = \sum\nolimits_{n = 0}^\infty {a_n \lambda _n f_n (z)} + b_n \mu _n f_n (x)),$$ which are convergent in the compact topology, where (f n {z} n=0 and {g} n=0 are given sequences of functions which are analytic in the same circle while {λ n } n=0 and {μ n } n=0 are fixed sequences of complex numbers. The assertion obtained here complements a previously known result of M. G. Khaplanov and Kh. R. Rakhmatov.  相似文献

A sharp result on global small solutions to the Cauchy problem $$u_t = \Delta u + f\left( {u,Du,D^2 u,u_t } \right)\left( {t > 0} \right),u\left( 0 \right) = u_0 $$ In Rn is obtained under the the assumption thatf is C1+r forr>2/n and ‖u 0‖C2(R n ) +‖u 0‖W 1 2 (R n ) is small. This implies that the assumption thatf is smooth and ‖u 0 ‖W 1 k (R n )+‖u 0‖W 2 k (R n ) is small fork large enough, made in earlier work, is unnecessary.  相似文献

Let R be a prime ring with center Z(R). For a fixed positive integer n, a permuting n-additive map ${\Delta : R^n \to R}$ is known to be permuting n-derivation if ${\Delta(x_1, x_2, \ldots, x_i x'_{i},\ldots, x_n) = \Delta(x_1, x_2, \ldots, x_i, \ldots, x_n)x'_i + x_i \Delta(x_1, x_2, \ldots, x'_i, \ldots, x_n)}$ holds for all ${x_i, x'_i \in R}$ . A mapping ${\delta : R \to R}$ defined by δ(x) = Δ(x, x, . . . ,x) for all ${x \in R}$ is said to be the trace of Δ. In the present paper, we have proved that a ring R is commutative if there exists a permuting n-additive map ${\Delta : R^n \to R}$ such that ${xy + \delta(xy) = yx + \delta(yx), xy- \delta(xy) = yx - \delta(yx), xy - yx = \delta(x) \pm \delta(y)}$ and ${xy + yx = \delta(x) \pm \delta(y)}$ holds for all ${x, y \in R}$ . Further, we have proved that if R is a prime ring with suitable torsion restriction then R is commutative if there exist non-zero permuting n-derivations Δ1 and Δ2 from ${R^n \to R}$ such that Δ1(δ 2(x), x, . . . ,x) =  0 for all ${x \in R,}$ where δ 2 is the trace of Δ2. Finally, it is shown that in a prime ring R of suitable torsion restriction, if ${\Delta_1, \Delta_2 : R^n \longrightarrow R}$ are non-zero permuting n-derivations with traces δ 1, δ 2, respectively, and ${B : R^n \longrightarrow R}$ is a permuting n-additive map with trace f such that δ 1 δ 2(x) =  f(x) holds for all ${x \in R}$ , then R is commutative.  相似文献

We study Sobolev-type metrics of fractional order s ≥ 0 on the group Diff c (M) of compactly supported diffeomorphisms of a manifold M. We show that for the important special case M = S 1, the geodesic distance on Diff c (S 1) vanishes if and only if ${s\leq\frac12}$ . For other manifolds, we obtain a partial characterization: the geodesic distance on Diff c (M) vanishes for ${M=\mathbb{R}\times N, s < \frac12}$ and for ${M=S^1\times N, s\leq\frac12}$ , with N being a compact Riemannian manifold. On the other hand, the geodesic distance on Diff c (M) is positive for ${{\rm dim}(M)=1, s > \frac12}$ and dim(M) ≥ 2, s ≥ 1. For ${M=\mathbb{R}^n}$ , we discuss the geodesic equations for these metrics. For n = 1, we obtain some well-known PDEs of hydrodynamics: Burgers’ equation for s = 0, the modified Constantin–Lax–Majda equation for ${s=\frac12}$ , and the Camassa–Holm equation for s = 1.  相似文献

This paper generalizes the penalty function method of Zang-will for scalar problems to vector problems. The vector penalty function takes the form $$g(x,\lambda ) = f(x) + \lambda ^{ - 1} P(x)e,$$ wheree ?R m, with each component equal to unity;f:R nR m, represents them objective functions {f i} defined onX \( \subseteq \) R n; λ ∈R 1, λ>0;P:R nR 1 X \( \subseteq \) Z \( \subseteq \) R n,P(x)≦0, ∨xR n,P(x) = 0 ?xX. The paper studies properties of {E (Z, λ r )} for a sequence of positive {λ r } converging to 0 in relationship toE(X), whereE(Z, λ r ) is the efficient set ofZ with respect tog(·, λr) andE(X) is the efficient set ofX with respect tof. It is seen that some of Zangwill's results do not hold for the vector problem. In addition, some new results are given.  相似文献

Let n ≥ 3, 0 < m ≤ (n ? 2)/n, p > max(1, (1 ? m)n/2), and ${0 \le u_0 \in L_{loc}^p(\mathbb{R}^n)}$ satisfy ${{\rm lim \, inf}_{R\to\infty}R^{-n+\frac{2}{1-m}} \int_{|x|\le R}u_0\,dx = \infty}$ . We prove the existence of unique global classical solution of u t = Δu m , u > 0, in ${\mathbb{R}^n \times (0, \infty), u(x, 0) = u_0(x)}$ in ${\mathbb{R}^n}$ . If in addition 0 < m < (n ? 2)/n and u 0(x) ≈ A|x|?q as |x| → ∞ for some constants A > 0, qn/p, we prove that there exist constants α, β, such that the function v(x, t) = t α u(t β x, t) converges uniformly on every compact subset of ${\mathbb{R}^n}$ to the self-similar solution ψ(x, 1) of the equation with ψ(x, 0) = A|x|?q as t → ∞. Note that when m = (n ? 2)/(n + 2), n ≥ 3, if ${g_{ij} = u^{\frac{4}{n+2}}\delta_{ij}}$ is a metric on ${\mathbb{R}^n}$ that evolves by the Yamabe flow ?g ij /?t = ?Rg ij with u(x, 0) = u 0(x) in ${\mathbb{R}^n}$ where R is the scalar curvature, then u(x, t) is a global solution of the above fast diffusion equation.  相似文献
