We consider a closed semi-algebraic set ${X \subset \mathbb{R}^n}$ and a C 2 semi-algebraic function ${f : \mathbb{R}^n \rightarrow\mathbb{R}}$ such that ${f_{\vert X}}$ has a finite number of critical points. We relate the topology of X to the topology of the sets ${X \cap \{ f * \alpha \}}$ , where ${* \in \{\le,=,\ge \}}$ and ${\alpha \in \mathbb{R}}$ , and the indices of the critical points of ${f_{\vert X}}$ and ${-f_{\vert X}}$ . We also relate the topology of X to the topology of the links at infinity of the sets ${X \cap \{ f * \alpha\}}$ and the indices of these critical points. We give applications when ${X=\mathbb{R}^n}$ and when f is a generic linear function.  相似文献

The Dodd–Jensen Covering Lemma states that “if there is no inner model with a measurable cardinal, then for any uncountable set of ordinals X, there is a ${Y\in K}$ such that ${X\subseteq Y}$ and |X| = |Y|”. Assuming ZF+AD alone, we establish the following analog: If there is no inner model with an ${\mathbb {R}}$ –complete measurable cardinal, then the real core model ${K(\mathbb {R})}$ is a “very good approximation” to the universe of sets V; that is, ${K(\mathbb {R})}$ and V have exactly the same sets of reals and for any set of ordinals X with ${|{X}|\ge\Theta}$ , there is a ${Y\in K(\mathbb {R})}$ such that ${X\subseteq Y}$ and |X| = |Y|. Here ${\mathbb {R}}$ is the set of reals and ${\Theta}$ is the supremum of the ordinals which are the surjective image of ${\mathbb {R}}$ .  相似文献

Given X,Y two ${\mathbb{Q}}$ -vector spaces, and f : XY, we study under which conditions on the sets ${B_{k} \subseteq X, k=1,\ldots,s}$ , if ${\Delta_{h_1h_2 \cdots h_s}f(x) = 0}$ for all ${x \in X}$ and ${h_k \in B_k, k = 1,2,\ldots,s}$ , then ${\Delta_{h_1h_2\cdots h_{s}}f(x) = 0}$ for all ${(x,h_{1},\ldots,h_{s}) \in X^{s+1}}$ .  相似文献

In this paper we deal with a class of non-differentiable functionals defined on a real reflexive Banach space X and depending on a real parameter of the form ${\mathcal{E}_\lambda(u)=L(u)-(J_1\circ T)(u)-\lambda (J_2\circ S)(u)}$ , where ${L:X \rightarrow \mathbb R}$ is a sequentially weakly lower semicontinuous C 1 functional, ${J_1:Y\rightarrow\mathbb R, J_2:Z\rightarrow \mathbb R}$ (Y, Z Banach spaces) are two locally Lipschitz functionals, T : XY, S : XZ are linear and compact operators and λ > 0 is a real parameter. We prove that this kind of functionals posses at least three nonsmooth critical points for each λ > 0 and there exists λ* > 0 such that the functional ${\mathcal{E}_{\lambda^\ast}}$ possesses at least four nonsmooth critical points. As an application, we study a nonhomogeneous differential inclusion involving the p(x)-Laplace operator whose weak solutions are exactly the nonsmooth critical points of some “energy functional” which satisfies the conditions required in our main result.  相似文献

In this paper we consider the space ${{{BMO}_o(\mathbb{R}, X)}}$ of bounded mean oscillations and odd functions on ${{\mathbb{R}}}$ taking values in a UMD Banach space X. The functions in ${{{BMO}_o(\mathbb{R}, X)}}$ are characterized by Carleson type conditions involving Bessel convolutions and γ-radonifying norms. Also we prove that the UMD Banach spaces are the unique Banach spaces for which certain γ-radonifying Carleson inequalities for Bessel–Poisson integrals of ${{{BMO}_o(\mathbb{R}, X)}}$ functions hold.  相似文献

We show that, given any connected, compact space ${Z \subset \mathbb{R}^n}$ , there exists a group G acting geometrically on two CAT(0) spaces X and Y, a G-equivariant quasi-isometry ${f\colon X\rightarrow Y}$ , and a geodesic ray c in X such that the closure of f (c), intersected with ${\partial Y}$ , is homeomorphic to Z. This characterizes all homeomorphism types of ??geodesic boundary images?? that arise in this manner.  相似文献

We study deformations of Fourier–Mukai transforms in general complex analytic settings. Suppose X and Y are complex manifolds, and let P be a coherent sheaf on X ×  Y. Suppose that the Fourier–Mukai transform ${\Phi}$ Φ given by the kernel P is an equivalence between the coherent derived categories of X and of Y. Suppose also that we are given a formal *-quantization ${\mathbb{X}}$ X of X. Our main result is that ${\mathbb{X}}$ X gives rise to a unique formal *-quantization ${\mathbb{Y}}$ Y of Y. For the statement to hold, *-quantizations must be understood in the framework of stacks of algebroids. The quantization ${\mathbb{Y}}$ Y is uniquely determined by the condition that ${\Phi}$ Φ deforms to an equivalence between the derived categories of ${\mathbb{X}}$ X and ${\mathbb{Y}}$ Y . Equivalently, the condition is that P deforms to a coherent sheaf ${\tilde{P}}$ P ~ on the formal *-quantization ${\mathbb{X} \times\mathbb{Y}^{op}}$ X × Y o p of X × Y; here ${\mathbb{Y}^{op}}$ Y o p is the opposite of the quantization ${\mathbb{Y}}$ Y .  相似文献

By a $\mathfrak{B}$ -regular variety, we mean a smooth projective variety over $\mathbb{C}$ admitting an algebraic action of the upper triangular Borel subgroup $\mathfrak{B} \subset {\text{SL}}_{2} {\left( \mathbb{C} \right)}$ such that the unipotent radical in $\mathfrak{B}$ has a unique fixed point. A result of Brion and the first author [4] describes the equivariant cohomology algebra (over $\mathbb{C}$ ) of a $\mathfrak{B}$ -regular variety X as the coordinate ring of a remarkable affine curve in $X \times \mathbb{P}^{1}$ . The main result of this paper uses this fact to classify the $\mathfrak{B}$ -invariant subvarieties Y of a $\mathfrak{B}$ -regular variety X for which the restriction map i Y : H *(X) → H *(Y) is surjective.  相似文献

A recent result by Ricceri [Ri] states that a ${C^{1,1}_{loc}}$ function ${f : X \to {\mathbb R}}$ , where X is a Hilbert space, attains its minimum on any small closed ball around a point where its derivative does not vanish, and that the unique minimum point belongs to the boundary of the ball. The proof is based on a saddle-point theorem. We show that the result, which we extend to Banach spaces having a norm with modulus of convexity of power type 2, can be obtained by means of a purely variational argument.  相似文献

We find a set of necessary and sufficient conditions under which the weight ${w: E \rightarrow \mathbb{R}^{+}}$ on the graph G = (V, E) can be extended to a pseudometric ${d : V \times V \rightarrow \mathbb{R}^{+}}$ . We describe the structure of graphs G for which the set ${\mathfrak{M}_{w}}$ of all such extensions contains a metric whenever w is strictly positive. Ordering ${\mathfrak{M}_{w}}$ by the pointwise order, we have found that the posets $({\mathfrak{M}_{w}, \leqslant)}$ contain the least elements ρ 0,w if and only if G is a complete k-partite graph with ${k \, \geqslant \, 2}$ . In this case the symmetric functions ${f : V \times V \rightarrow \mathbb{R}^{+}}$ , lying between ρ 0,w and the shortest-path pseudometric, belong to ${\mathfrak{M}_{w}}$ for every metrizable w if and only if the cardinality of all parts in the partition of V is at most two.  相似文献

In this work, for a given smooth, generic Hamiltonian ${H : \mathbb{S}^{1} \times \mathbb{T}^{2n} \rightarrow \mathbb{R}}$ on the torus ${\mathbb{T}^{2n} = \mathbb{R}^{2n}/\mathbb{Z}^{2n}}$ we construct a chain isomorphism ${\Phi_{*} : (C_{*}(H), \partial^{M}_{*}) \rightarrow (C_{*}(H), \partial^{F}_{*})}$ between the Morse complex of the Hamiltonian action AH on the free loop space of the torus ${\Lambda_{0}(\mathbb{T}^{2n})}$ and the Floer complex. Though both complexes are generated by the critical points of A H , their boundary operators differ. Therefore, the construction of ${\Phi}$ is based on counting the moduli spaces of hybrid-type solutions which involves stating a new non-Lagrangian boundary value problem for Cauchy–Riemann type operators not yet studied in Floer theory. We finally want to note that the problem is completely symmetric. So we also could construct an isomorphism ${\Psi_{*} : (C_{*}(H), \partial^{F}_{*}) \rightarrow (C_{*}(H), \partial^{M}_{*})}$ .  相似文献

Let ${\left(\tau_j\right)_{j\in\mathbb{N}}}$ be a sequence of strictly positive real numbers, and let A be the generator of a bounded analytic semigroup in a Banach space X. Put ${A_n=\prod_{j=1}^n\left(I+\frac{1}{2}\tau_jA\right)\left(I-\frac{1}{2}\tau_jA\right)^{-1}}$ , and let ${x\in X}$ . Define the sequence ${\left(x_n\right)_{n\in\mathbb{N}}\subset X}$ by the Crank?CNicolson scheme: x n ?=?A n x. In this erratum, it is proved that the Crank?CNicolson scheme is stable in the sense that ${\sup_{n\in\mathbb{N}}\left\Vert A_nx\right\Vert < \infty}$ provided that inequality (0.9) below holds.  相似文献

We generalize the well-known Lax-Milgram theorem on the Hilbert space to that on the Banach space. Suppose that ${a(\cdot, \cdot)}$ is a continuous bilinear form on the product ${X\times Y}$ of Banach spaces X and Y, where Y is reflexive. If null spaces N X and N Y associated with ${a(\cdot, \cdot)}$ have complements in X and in Y, respectively, and if ${a(\cdot, \cdot)}$ satisfies certain variational inequalities both in X and in Y, then for every ${F \in N_Y^{\perp}}$ , i.e., ${F \in Y^{\ast}}$ with ${F(\phi) = 0}$ for all ${\phi \in N_Y}$ , there exists at least one ${u \in X}$ such that ${a(u, \varphi) = F(\varphi)}$ holds for all ${\varphi \in Y}$ with ${\|u\|_X \le C\|F\|_{Y^{\ast}}}$ . We apply our result to several existence theorems of L r -solutions to the elliptic system of boundary value problems appearing in the fluid mechanics.  相似文献

Given Banach spaces X and Y, we show that, for each operator-valued analytic map ${\alpha \in \mathcal O (D,\mathcal L(Y,X))}$ satisfying the finiteness condition ${\dim (X/\alpha (z)Y) < \infty}$ pointwise on an open set D in ${\mathbb {C}^n}$ , the induced multiplication operator ${\mathcal O(U,Y) \stackrel{\alpha}{\longrightarrow} \mathcal O (U,X)}$ has closed range on each Stein open set ${U \subset D}$ . As an application we deduce that the generalized range ${{\rm R}^{\infty}(T) = \bigcap_{k \geq 1}\sum_{| \alpha | = k} T^{\alpha}X}$ of a commuting multioperator ${T \in \mathcal L(X)^n}$ with ${\dim(X/\sum_{i=1}^n T_iX) < \infty}$ can be represented as a suitable spectral subspace.  相似文献

Let ${\mathbb{N}}$ be the set of all natural numbers and ${\ell_\infty=\ell_\infty (\mathbb{N})}$ be the Banach space of all bounded sequences x = (x 1, x 2 . . .) with the norm $$\|x\|_{\infty}=\sup_{n\in\mathbb{N}}|x_n|,$$ and let ${\ell_\infty^*}$ be its Banach dual. Let ${\mathfrak{B} \subset \ell_\infty^*}$ be the set of all normalised positive translation invariant functionals (Banach limits) on ? and let ${ext(\mathfrak{B})}$ be the set of all extreme points of ${\mathfrak{B}}$ . We prove that an arbitrary sequence (B j ) j ≥ 1, of distinct points from the set ${ext(\mathfrak{B})}$ is 1-equivalent to the unit vector basis of the space ? 1 of all summable sequences. We also study Cesáro-invariant Banach limits. In particular, we prove that the norm closed convex hull of ${ext(\mathfrak{B})}$ does not contain a Cesáro-invariant Banach limit.  相似文献

Let X be a realcompact space and ${H:C(X)\rightarrow\mathbb{R}}$ be an identity and order preserving group homomorphism. It is shown that H is an evaluation at some point of X if and only if there is ${\varphi\in C(\mathbb{R})}$ with ${\varphi(r)>\varphi(0)}$ for all ${r\in\mathbb{R}-\{0\}}$ for which ${H\circ\varphi=\varphi\circ H}$ . This extends (and unifies) classical results by Hewitt and Shirota.  相似文献

Consider a finite dimensional complex Hilbert space ${\mathcal{H}}$ , with ${dim(\mathcal{H}) \geq 3}$ , define ${\mathbb{S}(\mathcal{H}):= \{x\in \mathcal{H} \:|\: \|x\|=1\}}$ , and let ${\nu_\mathcal{H}}$ be the unique regular Borel positive measure invariant under the action of the unitary operators in ${\mathcal{H}}$ , with ${\nu_\mathcal{H}(\mathbb{S}(\mathcal{H}))=1}$ . We prove that if a complex frame function ${f : \mathbb{S}(\mathcal{H})\to \mathbb{C}}$ satisfies ${f \in \mathbb{L}^2(\mathbb{S}(\mathcal{H}), \nu_\mathcal{H})}$ , then it verifies Gleason’s statement: there is a unique linear operator ${A: \mathcal{H} \to \mathcal{H}}$ such that ${f(u) = \langle u| A u\rangle}$ for every ${u \in \mathbb{S}(\mathcal{H}).\,A}$ is Hermitean when f is real. No boundedness requirement is thus assumed on f a priori.  相似文献

Let ${G: \mathbb {C}^{n-1} \rightarrow \mathbb {C}}$ be holomorphic such that G(0)?=?0 and DG(0)?=?0. When f is a convex (resp. starlike) normalized (f(0)?=?0, f??(0)?=?1) univalent mapping of the unit disk ${\mathbb {D}}$ in ${\mathbb {C}}$ , then the extension of f to the Euclidean unit ball ${\mathbb {B}}$ in ${\mathbb {C}^n}$ given by ${\Phi_G(f)(z)=(f(z_1)+G(\sqrt{f^{\prime}(z_1)} \, \hat{z}),\sqrt{f^{\prime}(z_1)}\, \hat{z})}$ , ${\hat{z}=(z_2,\dots,z_n) \in \mathbb {C}^{n-1}}$ , is known to be convex (resp. starlike) if G is a homogeneous polynomial of degree 2 with sufficiently small norm. Conversely, it is known that G cannot have terms of degree greater than 2 in its expansion about 0 in order for ${\Phi_G(f)}$ to be convex (resp. starlike), in general. We examine whether the restriction that f be either convex or starlike of a certain order ${\alpha \in (0,1]}$ allows, in general, for G to contain terms of degree greater than 2 and still have ${\Phi_G(f)}$ maintain the respective geometric property. Related extension results for convex and starlike Bloch mappings are also given.  相似文献

Let ${\mathcal{B}_{p,w}}$ be the Banach algebra of all bounded linear operators acting on the weighted Lebesgue space ${L^{p}(\mathbb{R}, w)}$ , where ${p \in (1, \infty)}$ and w is a Muckenhoupt weight. We study the Banach subalgebra ${\mathfrak{A}_{p,w}}$ of ${\mathcal{B}_{p,w}}$ generated by all multiplication operators aI ( ${a \in PSO^{\diamond}}$ ) and all convolution operators W 0(b) ( ${b \in PSO_{p,w}^{\diamond}}$ ), where ${PSO^{\diamond} \subset L^{\infty}(\mathbb{R})}$ and ${PSO_{p,w}^{\diamond} \subset M_{p,w}}$ are algebras of piecewise slowly oscillating functions that admit piecewise slowly oscillating discontinuities at arbitrary points of ${\mathbb{R} \cup \{\infty\}}$ , and M p,w is the Banach algebra of Fourier multipliers on ${L^{p}(\mathbb{R}, w)}$ . Under some conditions on the Muckenhoupt weight w, we construct a Fredholm symbol calculus for the Banach algebra ${\mathfrak{A}_{p,w}}$ and establish a Fredholm criterion for the operators ${A \in \mathfrak{A}_{p,w}}$ in terms of their Fredholm symbols. To study the Banach algebra ${\mathfrak{A}_{p,w}}$ we apply the theory of Mellin pseudodifferential operators, the Allan–Douglas local principle, the two idempotents theorem and the method of limit operators. The paper is divided in two parts. The first part deals with the local study of ${\mathfrak{A}_{p,w}}$ and necessary tools for studying local algebras.  相似文献
