For a graph G of size ε≥1 and its edge-induced subgraphs H1 and H2 of size r(1≤r≤ε), H1 is said to be obtained from H2 by an edge jump if there exist four distinct vertices u,v,w and x in G such that (u,v)∈E(H2), (w,x)∈ E(G)-E(H2) and H1=H2-(u,v)+(w,x). In this article, the r-jump graphs (r≥3) are discussed. A graph H is said to be an r-jump graph of G if its vertices correspond to the edge induced graph of size r in G and two vertices are adjacent if and only if one of the two corresponding subgraphs can be obtained from the other by an edge jump. For k≥2, the k-th iterated r-jump graph Jrk(G) is defined as Jr(Jrk-1(G)), where Jr1(G)=Jr(G).An infinite sequence{Gi} of graphs is planar if every graph Gi is planar. It is shown that there does not exist a graph G for which the sequence {J3k(G)} is planar, where k is any positive integer. Meanwhile, lim gen(J3k(G))=∞,where gen(G) denotes the genus of a graph G, if the sequencek→∞J3k(G) is defined for every positive integer k. As for the 4-jump gra  相似文献

A proper vertex coloring of a graph is acyclic if every cycle uses at least three colors. A graph G is acyclically k-choosable if for any list assignment L = {L(v) : v ∈ V(G)} with |L(v)| ≥ k for all v ∈ V(G), there exists a proper acyclic vertex coloring φ of G such that φ(v) ∈ L(v) for all v ∈ V(G). In this paper, we prove that if G is a planar graph and contains no 5-cycles and no adjacent 4-cycles, then G is acyclically 6-choosable.  相似文献

The minimum number of colors needed to properly color the vertices and edges of a graph G is called the total chromatic number of G and denoted by χ’’ (G). It is shown that if a planar graph G has maximum degree Δ≥9, then χ’’ (G) = Δ + 1. In this paper, we prove that if G is a planar graph with maximum degree 8 and without intersecting chordal 4-cycles, then χ ’’(G) = 9.  相似文献

Edge choosability of planar graphs without short cycles   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
In this paper we prove that if G is a planar graph with △= 5 and without 4-cycles or 6-cycles, then G is edge-6-choosable. This consequence together with known results show that, for each fixed k ∈{3,4,5,6}, a k-cycle-free planar graph G is edge-(△ 1)-choosable, where △ denotes the maximum degree of G.  相似文献

A proper vertex coloring of a graph G is acyclic if there is no bicolored cycles in G. A graph G is acyclically k-choosable if for any list assignment L = {L(v) : v ∈ V(G)} with |L(v)| ≥ k for each vertex v ∈ V(G), there exists an acyclic proper vertex coloring φ of G such that φ(v) ∈ L(v)for each vertex v ∈ V(G). In this paper, we prove that every graph G embedded on the surface with Euler characteristic number ε =-1 is acyclically 11-choosable.  相似文献

A proper vertex coloring of a graph G is linear if the graph induced by the vertices of any two color classes is the union of vertex-disjoint paths. The linear chromatic number lc(G) of the graph G is the smallest number of colors in a linear coloring of G. In this paper, it is proved that every planar graph G with girth g and maximum degree Δ has(1)lc(G) ≤Δ 21 if Δ≥ 9; (2)lc(G) ≤「Δ/2」 + 7 ifg ≥ 5; (3) lc(G) ≤「Δ/2」 + 2 ifg ≥ 7 and Δ≥ 7.  相似文献

A total k-coloring of a graph G is a coloring of V(G) ∪ E(G) using k colors such that no two adjacent or incident elements receive the same color. The total chromatic number χ'(G) is the smallest integer k such that G has a total k-coloring. It is known that if a planar graph G has maximum degree Δ≥ 9, then χ'(G) = Δ + 1. In this paper, we prove that if G is a planar graph with maximum degree 8 and without a fan of four adjacent 3-cycles, then χ'(G) = 9.  相似文献

The linear chromatic number lc(G) of the graph G is the smallest number of colors in a linear coloring of G. In this paper, we prove that every graph G with girth g(G) and maximum degree Δ(G) that can be embedded in a surface of nonnegative characteristic has lc(G) = Δ(2G )+ 1 if there is a pair (Δ, g) ∈ {(13, 7), (9, 8), (7, 9), (5, 10), (3, 13)} such that G s...  相似文献

On total chromatic number of planar graphs without 4-cycles   总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5
Let G be a simple graph with maximum degree A(G) and total chromatic number Xve(G). Vizing conjectured thatΔ(G) 1≤Xve(G)≤Δ(G) 2 (Total Chromatic Conjecture). Even for planar graphs, this conjecture has not been settled yet. The unsettled difficult case for planar graphs isΔ(G) = 6. This paper shows that if G is a simple planar graph with maximum degree 6 and without 4-cycles, then Xve(G)≤8. Together with the previous results on this topic, this shows that every simple planar graph without 4-cycles satisfies the Total Chromatic Conjecture.  相似文献

The authors recently defined a new graph invariant denoted by Ω(G) only in terms of a given degree sequence which is also related to the Euler characteristic. It has many important combinatorial applications in graph theory and gives direct information compared to the better known Euler characteristic on the realizability, connectedness, cyclicness, components, chords, loops etc. Many similar classification problems can be solved by means of Ω. All graphs G so that Ω(G) ≤-4 are shown to be disconnected, and if Ω(G) ≥-2, then the graph is potentially connected. It is also shown that if the realization is a connected graph and Ω(G) =-2, then certainly the graph should be a tree.Similarly, it is shown that if the realization is a connected graph G and Ω(G) ≥ 0, then certainly the graph should be cyclic. Also, when Ω(G) ≤-4, the components of the disconnected graph could not all be cyclic and if all the components of G are cyclic, then Ω(G) ≥ 0. In this paper, we study an extremal problem regarding graphs. We find the maximum number of loops for three possible classes of graphs. We also state a result giving the maximum number of components amongst all possible realizations of a given degree sequence.  相似文献

A graph is called edge-primitive if its automorphism group acts primitively on its edge set. In 1973, Weiss (1973) determined all edge-primitive graphs of valency three, and recently Guo et al. (2013,2015) classified edge-primitive graphs of valencies four and five. In this paper, we determine all edge-primitive Cayley graphs on abelian groups and dihedral groups.  相似文献

A graph is called hypohamiltonian if it is not hamiltonian but becomes hamiltonian if any vertex is removed. Many hypohamiltonian planar cubic graphs have been found, starting with constructions of Thomassen in 1981. However, all the examples found until now had 4‐cycles. In this note we present the first examples of hypohamiltonian planar cubic graphs with cyclic connectivity 5, and thus girth 5. We show by computer search that the smallest members of this class are three graphs with 76 vertices.  相似文献

A regular graph X is called semisymmetric if it is edge-transitive but not vertex-transitive. For G ≤ AutX, we call a G-cover X semisymmetric if X is semisymmetric, and call a G-cover X one-regular if Aut X acts regularly on its arc-set. In this paper, we give the sufficient and necessary conditions for the existence of one-regular or semisymmetric Zn-Covers of K3,3. Also, an infinite family of semisymmetric Zn×Zn-covers of K3,3 are constructed.  相似文献

In this paper we give a classification of a family of symmetric graphs with complete 2-arc-transitive quotients. Of particular interest are two subfamilies of graphs which admit an arc-transitive action of a projective linear group. The graphs in these subfamilies can be defined in terms of the cross ratio of certain 4-tuples of elements of a finite projective line, and thus may be called the second type ‘cross ratio graphs’, which are different from the ‘cross ratio graphs’ studied in [A. Gardiner, C. E. Praeger, S. Zhou, Cross-ratio graphs, J. London Math. Soc. (2) 64 (2001), 257–272]. We also give a combinatorial characterisation of such second type cross ratio graphs.  相似文献

Let Г be a G-symmetric graph admitting a nontrivial G-invariant partition . Let Г be the quotient graph of Г with respect to . For each block B ∊ , the setwise stabiliser GB of B in G induces natural actions on B and on the neighbourhood Г (B) of B in Г . Let G(B) and G[B] be respectively the kernels of these actions. In this paper we study certain “local actions" induced by G(B) and G[B], such as the action of G[B] on B and the action of G(B) on Г (B), and their influence on the structure of Г. Let S be a set of n4 points in general position in the plane, and let h<n be the number of extreme points of S. We show how to construct a 3-connected plane graph with vertex set S, having max{3n/2,n+h−1} edges, and we prove that there is no 3-connected plane graph on top of S with a smaller number of edges. In particular, this implies that S admits a 3-connected cubic plane graph if and only if n4 is even and hn/2+1. The same bounds also hold when 3-edge-connectivity is considered. We also give a partial characterization of the point sets in the plane that can be the vertex set of a cubic plane graph.  相似文献

Let A be a commutative ring with nonzero identity, 1 ≤ n < ∞ be an integer, and R = A × A × … ×A (n times). The total dot product graph of R is the (undirected) graph TD(R) with vertices R* = R?{(0, 0,…, 0)}, and two distinct vertices x and y are adjacent if and only if x·y = 0 ∈ A (where x·y denote the normal dot product of x and y). Let Z(R) denote the set of all zero-divisors of R. Then the zero-divisor dot product graph of R is the induced subgraph ZD(R) of TD(R) with vertices Z(R)* = Z(R)?{(0, 0,…, 0)}. It follows that each edge (path) of the classical zero-divisor graph Γ(R) is an edge (path) of ZD(R). We observe that if n = 1, then TD(R) is a disconnected graph and ZD(R) is identical to the well-known zero-divisor graph of R in the sense of Beck–Anderson–Livingston, and hence it is connected. In this paper, we study both graphs TD(R) and ZD(R). For a commutative ring A and n ≥ 3, we show that TD(R) (ZD(R)) is connected with diameter two (at most three) and with girth three. Among other things, for n ≥ 2, we show that ZD(R) is identical to the zero-divisor graph of R if and only if either n = 2 and A is an integral domain or R is ring-isomorphic to ?2 × ?2 × ?2.  相似文献
