We construct examples of potentials satisfying where the function is growing arbitrarily slowly, such that the corresponding Schrödinger operator has an imbedded singular continuous spectrum. This solves one of the fifteen ``twenty-first century" problems for Schrödinger operators posed by Barry Simon. The construction also provides the first example of a Schrödinger operator for which Möller wave operators exist but are not asymptotically complete due to the presence of a singular continuous spectrum. We also prove that if the singular continuous spectrum is empty. Therefore our result is sharp.

We present a class of discrete Schrödinger operators, with potentials derived from nonprimitive substitutions, that has purely singular continuous spectrum. We give sufficient conditions on the substitution rule assuring singular continuous spectrum, either for a generic set in the hull of the potential or for a set of total invariant measure.

We prove that one-dimensional reflectionless Schrödinger operators with spectrum a homogeneous set in the sense of Carleson, belonging to the class introduced by Sodin and Yuditskii, have purely absolutely continuous spectra. This class includes all earlier examples of reflectionless almost periodic Schrödinger operators. In addition, we construct examples of reflectionless Schrödinger operators with more general types of spectra, given by the complement of a Denjoy-Widom-type domain in C, which exhibit a singular component.  相似文献

It is shown that Schrödinger operators, with potentials along the shift embedding of Lebesgue almost every interval exchange transformations, have Cantor spectrum of measure zero and pure singular continuous for Lebesgue almost all points of the interval.

In this note we investigate the asymptotic behavior of spectra of Schrödinger operators with continuous potential on the Sierpinski gasket . In particular, using the existence of localized eigenfunctions for the Laplacian on we show that the eigenvalues of the Schrödinger operator break into clusters around certain eigenvalues of the Laplacian. Moreover, we prove that the characteristic measure of these clusters converges to a measure. Results similar to ours were first observed by A. Weinstein and V. Guillemin for Schrödinger operators on compact Riemannian manifolds.

We study the semi-classical behavior of the spectral function of the Schrödinger operator with short range potential. We prove that the spectral function is a semi-classical Fourier integral operator quantizing the forward and backward Hamiltonian flow relations of the system. Under a certain geometric condition we explicitly compute the phase in an oscillatory integral representation of the spectral function.

New unique characterization results for the potential in connection with Schrödinger operators on and on the half-line are proven in terms of appropriate Krein spectral shift functions. Particular results obtained include a generalization of a well-known uniqueness theorem of Borg and Marchenko for Schrödinger operators on the half-line with purely discrete spectra to arbitrary spectral types and a new uniqueness result for Schrödinger operators with confining potentials on the entire real line.

We consider the Schrödinger equation with derivative perturbation terms in one space dimension. For the linear equation, we show that the standard Strichartz estimates hold under specific smallness requirements on the potential. As an application, we establish existence of local solutions for quadratic derivative Schrödinger equations in one space dimension with small and rough Cauchy data.

We consider the pointwise convergence problem for the solution of Schrödinger-type equations along directions determined by a given compact subset of the real line. This problem contains Carleson’s problem as the simplest case and was studied in general by Cho et al. We extend their result from the case of the classical Schrödinger equation to a class of equations which includes the fractional Schrödinger equations. To achieve this, we significantly simplify their proof by completely avoiding a time localization argument.  相似文献

We present general results on exponential decay of finite energy solutions to stationary nonlinear Schrödinger equations. Under certain natural assumptions we show that any such solution is continuous and vanishes at infinity. This allows us to interpret the solution as a finite multiplicity eigenfunction of a certain linear Schrödinger operator and, hence, apply well-known results on the decay of eigenfunctions.

We consider discrete one-dimensional Schrödinger operators whose potentials decay asymptotically like an inverse square. In the super-critical case, where there are infinitely many discrete eigenvalues, we compute precise asymptotics of the number of eigenvalues below a given energy as this energy tends to the bottom of the essential spectrum.

This paper shows how abstract resolvent estimates imply local smoothing for solutions to the Schrödinger equation. If the resolvent estimate has a loss when compared to the optimal, non-trapping estimate, there is a corresponding loss in regularity in the local smoothing estimate. As an application, we apply well-known techniques to obtain well-posedness results for the semi-linear Schrödinger equation.

We study the decay at large distances of operator kernels of functions of generalized Schrödinger operators, a class of semibounded second order partial differential operators of mathematical physics, which includes the Schrödinger operator, the magnetic Schrödinger operator, and the classical wave operators (i.e., acoustic operator, Maxwell operator, and other second order partial differential operators associated with classical wave equations). We derive an improved Combes-Thomas estimate, obtaining an explicit lower bound on the rate of exponential decay of the operator kernel of the resolvent. We prove that for slowly decreasing smooth functions the operator kernels decay faster than any polynomial.

We consider discrete one-dimensional Schrödinger operators on the whole line and establish a criterion for continuity of spectral measures with respect to log-Hausdorff measures. We apply this result to operators with Sturmian potentials and thereby prove logarithmic quantum dynamical lower bounds for all coupling constants and almost all rotation numbers, uniformly in the phase.

We construct multidimensional Schrödinger operators with a spectrum that has no gaps at high energies and that is nowhere dense at low energies. This gives the first example for which this widely expected topological structure of the spectrum in the class of uniformly recurrent Schrödinger operators, namely the coexistence of a half-line and a Cantor-type structure, can be confirmed. Our construction uses Schrödinger operators with separable potentials that decompose into one-dimensional potentials generated by the Fibonacci sequence and relies on the study of such operators via the trace map and the Fricke-Vogt invariant. To show that the spectrum contains a half-line, we prove an abstract Bethe–Sommerfeld criterion for sums of Cantor sets which may be of independent interest.  相似文献
