We study LpLr restriction estimates for algebraic varieties in d-dimensional vector spaces over finite fields. Unlike the Euclidean case, if the dimension d is even, then it is conjectured that the L(2d+2)/(d+3)L2 Stein–Tomas restriction result can be improved to the L(2d+4)/(d+4)L2 estimate for both spheres and paraboloids in finite fields. In this paper we show that the conjectured LpL2 restriction estimate holds in the specific case when test functions under consideration are restricted to d-coordinate functions or homogeneous functions of degree zero. To deduce our result, we use the connection between the restriction phenomena for our varieties in d dimensions and those for homogeneous varieties in (d+1) dimensions.  相似文献

Given (M,g), a compact connected Riemannian manifold of dimension d?2, with boundary ?M, we consider an initial boundary value problem for a fractional diffusion equation on (0,T)×M, T>0, with time-fractional Caputo derivative of order α(0,1)(1,2). We prove uniqueness in the inverse problem of determining the smooth manifold (M,g) (up to an isometry), and various time-independent smooth coefficients appearing in this equation, from measurements of the solutions on a subset of ?M at fixed time. In the “flat” case where M is a compact subset of Rd, two out the three coefficients ρ (density), a (conductivity) and q (potential) appearing in the equation ρ?tαu?div(a?u)+qu=0 on (0,T)×M are recovered simultaneously.  相似文献

Any positive matrix M partitioned in four n-by-n blocks satisfies the unitarily invariant norm inequality 6M66M1,1+M2,2+ωI6, where ω is the width of the numerical range of M1,2. Some related inequalities and a reverse Lidskii majorization are given.  相似文献

A Steiner 2-(v,3) trade is a pair (T1,T2) of disjoint partial Steiner triple systems, each on the same set of v points, such that each pair of points occurs in T1 if and only if it occurs in T2. A Steiner 2-(v,3) trade is called d-homogeneous if each point occurs in exactly d blocks of T1 (or T2). In this paper we construct minimal d-homogeneous Steiner 2-(v,3) trades of foundation v and volume dv/3 for sufficiently large values of v. (Specifically, v>3(1.75d2+3) if v is divisible by 3 and v>d(4d/3+1+1) otherwise.)  相似文献

We consider the finite exceptional group of Lie type G=E6ε(q) (universal version) with 3|q?ε, where E6+1(q)=E6(q) and E6?1(q)=2E6(q). We classify, up to conjugacy, all maximal-proper 3-local subgroups of G, that is, all 3-local M<G which are maximal with respect to inclusion among all proper subgroups of G which are 3-local. To this end, we also determine, up to conjugacy, all elementary-abelian 3-subgroups containing Z(G), all extraspecial subgroups containing Z(G), and all cyclic groups of order 9 containing Z(G). These classifications are an important first step towards a classification of the 3-radical subgroups of G, which play a crucial role in many open conjectures in modular representation theory.  相似文献

In 1961, Birman proved a sequence of inequalities {In}, for nN, valid for functions in C0n((0,))?L2((0,)). In particular, I1 is the classical (integral) Hardy inequality and I2 is the well-known Rellich inequality. In this paper, we give a proof of this sequence of inequalities valid on a certain Hilbert space Hn([0,)) of functions defined on [0,). Moreover, fHn([0,)) implies fHn?1([0,)); as a consequence of this inclusion, we see that the classical Hardy inequality implies each of the inequalities in Birman's sequence. We also show that for any finite b>0, these inequalities hold on the standard Sobolev space H0n((0,b)). Furthermore, in all cases, the Birman constants [(2n?1)!!]2/22n in these inequalities are sharp and the only function that gives equality in any of these inequalities is the trivial function in L2((0,)) (resp., L2((0,b))). We also show that these Birman constants are related to the norm of a generalized continuous Cesàro averaging operator whose spectral properties we determine in detail.  相似文献

Let μ? be the probability measures on D[0,T] of suitable Markov processes {ξt?}0tT (possibly with small jumps) depending on a small parameter ?>0, where D[0,T] denotes the space of all functions on [0,T] which are right continuous with left limits. In this paper we investigate asymptotic expansions for the Laplace transforms D[0,T]exp?{??1F(x)}μ?(dx) as ?0 for smooth functionals F on D[0,T]. This study not only recovers several well-known results, but more importantly provides new expansions for jump Markov processes. Besides several standard tools such as exponential change of measures and Taylor's expansions, the novelty of the proof is to implement the expectation asymptotic expansions on normal deviations which were recently derived in [13].  相似文献

Let K be the algebraic closure of a finite field Fq of odd characteristic p. For a positive integer m prime to p, let F=K(x,y) be the transcendence degree 1 function field defined by yq+y=xm+x?m. Let t=xm(q?1) and H=K(t). The extension F|H is a non-Galois extension. Let K be the Galois closure of F with respect to H. By Stichtenoth [20], K has genus g(K)=(qm?1)(q?1), p-rank (Hasse–Witt invariant) γ(K)=(q?1)2 and a K-automorphism group of order at least 2q2m(q?1). In this paper we prove that this subgroup is the full K-automorphism group of K; more precisely AutK(K)=Δ?D where Δ is an elementary abelian p-group of order q2 and D has an index 2 cyclic subgroup of order m(q?1). In particular, m|AutK(K)|>g(K)3/2, and if K is ordinary (i.e. g(K)=γ(K)) then |AutK(K)|>g3/2. On the other hand, if G is a solvable subgroup of the K-automorphism group of an ordinary, transcendence degree 1 function field L of genus g(L)2 defined over K, then |AutK(K)|34(g(L)+1)3/2<682g(L)3/2; see [15]. This shows that K hits this bound up to the constant 682.Since AutK(K) has several subgroups, the fixed subfield FN of such a subgroup N may happen to have many automorphisms provided that the normalizer of N in AutK(K) is large enough. This possibility is worked out for subgroups of Δ.  相似文献

We investigate the following problem posed by Cabello Sanchéz, Castillo, Kalton, and Yost:Let K be a nonmetrizable compact space. Does there exist a nontrivial twisted sum of c0 and C(K), i.e., does there exist a Banach space X containing a non-complemented copy Y of c0 such that the quotient space X/Y is isomorphic to C(K)?Using additional set-theoretic assumptions we give the first examples of compact spaces K providing a negative answer to this question. We show that under Martin's axiom and the negation of the continuum hypothesis, if either K is the Cantor cube 2ω1 or K is a separable scattered compact space of height 3 and weight ω1, then every twisted sum of c0 and C(K) is trivial. We also construct nontrivial twisted sums of c0 and C(K) for K belonging to several classes of compacta. Our main tool is an investigation of pairs of compact spaces K?L which do not admit an extension operator C(K)C(L).  相似文献

The purpose of this article is to compute the mod 2 cohomology of Γq(K), the mapping class group of the Klein bottle with q marked points. We provide a concrete construction of Eilenberg–MacLane spaces Xq=K(Γq(K),1) and fiber bundles Fq(K)/ΣqXqB(Z2×O(2)), where Fq(K)/Σq denotes the configuration space of unordered q-tuples of distinct points in K and B(Z2×O(2)) is the classifying space of the group Z2×O(2). Moreover, we show the mod 2 Serre spectral sequence of the bundle above collapses.  相似文献

Let q be a positive integer. Recently, Niu and Liu proved that, if nmax?{q,1198?q}, then the product (13+q3)(23+q3)?(n3+q3) is not a powerful number. In this note, we prove (1) that, for any odd prime power ? and nmax?{q,11?q}, the product (1?+q?)(2?+q?)?(n?+q?) is not a powerful number, and (2) that, for any positive odd integer ?, there exists an integer Nq,? such that, for any positive integer nNq,?, the product (1?+q?)(2?+q?)?(n?+q?) is not a powerful number.  相似文献
