The average polarization of the nucleus12B (bound state) produced in the polarized-muon capture reaction12C(μ ?,v μ )12B was measured by the muon spin resonance method in a pulsed muon beam. The polarization of12B was maintained completely under a magnetic field of 3 kG in a Grafoil target. After the observed result was corrected for the contribution from the excited states of12B, Pav (ground state) was deduced to be 0.462±0.053. This result yieldsg P /g A =10.1 ?2.6 +2.4 , which is almost consistent with the PCAC prediction.  相似文献

Nuclear quadrupole resonance (NQR) of209Bi has been studied in Bi4 (GeO4)3 and Bi4 (SiO4)3 using a wide band coherence-controlled superregenerative oscillator-detector. All the four allowed (ΔM I=±1) transitions are observed. In both cases the electric field gradient (EFG) tensor is axially symmetric (η=0.0). The quadrupole coupling constante 2 qQ is measured to be 490.8±1 MHz and 470.4±1 MHz respectively. It is pointed out that the purely ionic model is inadequate to understand these results. With the available experimental accuracy and the strength of the applied electric field (∼ 6 KV/cm), no field-induced effects on the NQR spectrum could be observed in the case of Bi4 (SiO4)3.  相似文献

The quadrupole frequencyv Q =e 2 qQ/h of103Ru (Z=44,N=59) in a ruthenium single crystal has been measured using the technique of low temperature quadrupole orientation to bev Q (103RuRu)=−14.7(5) MHz. Temperatures below 2 mK were reached in this experiment using a PrNi5 demagnetization stage attached to a3He−4He dilution refrigerator. Using the measured magnitude of the RuRu electric field gradient (EFG) at low temperatures |eq(RuRu)|=1.02(3)×1017 V.cm−2 [1] and adopting the sign ofeq(RuRu) to be negative from systematics, this result yields a value for the ground-state electric quadrupole moment of103Ru ofQ(103Ru)=+0.59(2) b. This moment may be interpreted using the weak coupling model of de-Shalit [2]. A Korringa constant for103RuRu ofC K=39(6) Ks was measured in this experiment. Taking advantage of a small iridium contamination of the ruthenium single crystal, the quadrupole moment of the192Ir ground state was determined to beQ(192Ir)=+2.12(25) b. The sign of the IrRu electric field gradient was found to be negative as a result of this work.  相似文献

The hyperfine interactions of short-lived β-emitter 12B implanted into a CaB6 crystal have been studied by means of the β-NMR technique. An electric quadrupole splitting has been observed at room temperature from which an electric field gradient of q=−(1.34±0.05)×1021 V/m2 was determined. From the present result, it was found that the 12B nuclei are mainly implanted in the substitutional boron site. The average polarization Pav of the recoil nucleus12B (ground state) produced by the polarized-muon capture reaction12C(,v )12B was measured by a new approach which involved the muon spin resonance, and the adoption of Grafoil as a carbon target where the polarization of12 B can be preserved completely under 3 kG holding field. The technique of differential γ-γ angular correlation measurements has been applied to an investigation of the hyperfine interactions in the 482 keV level of181Ta. The activity was embedded in the lattice of a hafnium single crystal. The investigation of the quadrupole interaction gave for the electric interaction frequencyω 0=(313±4) MHz. The electric field gradient was found to be axially symmetric, the asymmetry parameter beingη<0.1. Furthermore the combined collinear magnetic dipole and electric quadrupole interaction was studied. The angular correlation was investigated as a function of the strength of the external magnetic field by integral as well as time differential measurements. The integral anisotropy as function of the magnetic field has the shape of a resonance curve. The maximum was observed at a magnetic field ofB res=(24.2±0.5)kG.  相似文献

73Se was produced by proton irradiation of polycrystalline arsenic. The quadrupole interaction of the 66 keV, 5/2? state in the daughter isotope73As with the electric field gradient in the noncubic arsenic lattice was observed at room temperature by means of theγ-γ perturbed angular correlation technique. The measured angular correlation pattern is characterized by a quadrupole coupling constantv Q =51.6 (1.3) MHz. By use of the known electric field gradient on regular lattice sites, a value of ¦Q¦=0.356(12)b is derived for the quadrupole moment of the 66 keV, 5/2? state of73As.  相似文献

The technique of differential γγ-angular correlation measurements has been applied to an investigation of the hyperfine interactions in the 1274 keV level of204Pbm. Using liquid sources we derived from the interaction with an external magnetic field of 35,2 kgauss for the g-factor g=+0.055±0.003 in agreement with earlier measurements. The investigation of the quadrupole interaction with the statistically oriented electric field gradient of204Pbm embedded in the lattice of metallic Thallium gave for the electric interaction frequency in the definition ofSteffen andFrauenfelder ω01=(2.23±0.15) MHz. We observed an additional frequency of ω02=(6.91±0.15) MHz. This second frequency is probably caused by crystal imperfections. It vanished when the metal sources were annealed after the cyclotron irradiation. Finally we investigated the perturbation of the γγ-angular correlation of the 912– 375 keV cascade by a combined interaction of the dipole moment of the intermediate 1274 keV state with an external magnetic field and its quadrupole moment with an statistically oriented static electric field gradient. We found good agreement with the theory ofAlder et al. 2.  相似文献

Hyperfine interactions of12B(I =1+,T 1/2=21 ms) implanted in the substitutional site of B in BN (hexagonal) was studied by detecting -NMR. In order to measure the quadrupole coupling constant efficiently, we employed a newly developed quadrupole resonance technique (NNQR). A number of isotopes have been implanted into thin foils of highly oriented pyrolytic graphite in order to investigate the possibility of using this material as a catcher for on-line LT-NO experiments to measure the quadrupole interaction of short-lived nuclei. Pure nuclear electric quadrupole interaction of nuclei of188,189Ir,203Hg,69mZn,182m,183Re and111In has been observed. Values for the electric field gradient along theC-axis are: +10.0(3) +8.2(9), +5.4(2.6) and +1.5(1)·1022 V/m2, respectively, for Ir, Hg, Re and In in graphite. A value ofQ=+0.79(6) b is deduced for the quadrupole moment of189Ir. Two theoretical models provide a better understanding of the origin of the electric field gradient in graphite. The first is based on induced electric polarization of graphite atoms, while in the second one hybridization of impurity and graphite electronic wave functions is calculated.  相似文献

The quadrupole interaction frequency |v q| = |eQV zz /h|0 = 8.71 ± 0.11 MHz was measured for the 75 keV state of100Rh in a polycrystalline cadmium matrix by use of the γ-e? and γ-γ time differential perturbed angular correlation (TDPAC) techniques. The temperature dependence of the electric quadrupole coupling constant for100Rh in Cd is similar to those of other impurities in Cd metal.  相似文献

The electric quadrupole coupling constant of the210Po(6+) isomer in a Bi single crystal was measured as a function of the temperature using the time-differential perturbed angular correlations technique. The electric field gradient (EFG) for Po in Bi is found to be temperature independent in the range 77–477 K. Using a calculated value of the nuclear quadrupole moment, the magnitude of the EFG is derived, and in turn serves to re-examine the systematics of quadrupole moments of λh 9 2/2 configurations in the lead region.  相似文献

The nuclear electric quadrupole interaction of111In ion-implanted in hightly oriented pyrolytic graphite has been observed by means of low-temperature nuclear orientation and by means of perturbed angular correlations. From the first kind of experiment, it is concluded that a relatively large number of indium nuclei experience a well-defined macroscopic orientation, which is partly lost after the radioactive decay to cadmium. Indeed, the second kind of experiment revealed a broad distribution of electrid field gradients interacting with the 245 keV Cd excited state, as well as a small faction experiencing a unique electric field gradient. The experimental results are compared with theoretical calculations of the electric field gradient at various lattice positions, in which carbon and indium electronic wavefunctions are allowed to hybridize. Lattice positions of the covalent indium atom between the graphite layers can explain the measured electric field gradient ofV 22=+1.47(11)·1022 V/m2, directed parallel to the graphitec-axis.  相似文献

The electric quadrupole interaction of the first excited 2+ state of188Os in hexagonal rhenium metal was investigated by means of the time-differential perturbed angular correlation technique. From the observed quadrupole frequencyV Q=170(7) MHz, we deduce an electric field gradient value of |Vzz|=4.77(23)·1021V/m2 for the system OsRe. With the Möβbauer technique the hyperfine splittings of the 67.4 keV transition of61Ni in compounds and alloys have been studied. A magnetic momentΜ 61,4=+ (0,477 ±0.031)Μ n of the first excited state has been determined. From isomer shifts an order of magnitude estimate of the change in radius ofδr 2〉/〈r 2〉=?6· 10?4 can be inferred. The electric quadrupole interaction of the first excited level has been observed in Ni-J-boracite. In addition the hyperfine fields at the nickel sites were determined in the alloy series Ni x Fe1-x (0≦x≦1). In one case an effect of polarization in a high external field is measured. The fields in some rare earth (RE) intermetallic compounds of the form RENi2 were deduced from linewidth to be less than 15 kOe.  相似文献

The quadrupole splitting of oriented188Ir in iron was studied at 8.6 mK using a double resonance NMR-ON method. With r.f. power applied at the strongest resonance frequency, a second frequency was used to simultaneously investigate the second resonance component, where the splitting is caused by an electric quadrupole interaction. The electric hyperfine splitting frequency νQ=e 2 qQ/h was measured to be 3.37(11) MHz. With the known electric field gradient of −0.283(6)×1017 V/cm2 at Ir in iron, the spectroscopic quadrupole moment of188Ir was deduced to be 0.492(26)b. The present results show that the double resonance method is a powerful tool in establishing the quadrupole splitting, if it leads to well-resolved NMR-ON resonance components.  相似文献

The nuclear electric quadrupole moment of41Sc(Iπ=7/2) was experimentally determined by use of the NMR detection in which the asymmetric β-ray distribution from spin polarized nuclei was monitored. The magnetic interaction of the state with high external magnetic field and the nuclear quadrupole interaction with the electric field gradient obtained in TiO2 crystal were studied. The field gradient seen to the implanted41Sc was measured independently by the high field NMR detection on the stable isotope45Sc located in the equivalent41Sc site with. |Q(41Sc;Iπ=7/2)|=(0.120±0.006) b was determined.  相似文献

Using the TDPAC-technique binding parameters for Hf were determined afterin vivo uptake of181Hf in rat plasma. As much as 98.5% of the metal ions proved to be bound to protein, essentially to transferrin. The main fraction of the181Hf ions experiences a well defined electric quadrupole perturbation frequency (vQ1=(1516 ± 15)MHz, δ1=(5.3 ± 0.8)%) connected with a marked relaxation damping (λ = (46 ± 8)MHz). The remaining Hf nuclei are subject to a fairly broad distribution of electric field gradients (vQ2=(1014 ± 37)MHz, δ2=(16±3)%). The results are compared with data obtained within vitro 181Hf-labeled human transferrin.  相似文献

An experimental method is presented which allows the determination of the sign of nuclear electric quadrupole interactions in solids. Activated target nuclei with a purely dipolar spin polarization are produced by capture of polarized thermal neutrons. The quadrupole coupling of the nuclei to the electric field gradient tensor in the target crystal converts this (dipolar) polarization partly into a (quadrupolar) alignment, which can be measured by the anisotropy of the-ray emission in a succeeding nuclear transition. The sign of the alignment created in this reorientation process depends on the sign of the electric quadrupole interaction. The reorientation effect can be enhanced by selective induction of nuclear magnetic resonance transitions. The method has been applied to measure the sign of the crystal electric field gradient (efg) in tetragonal MgF2. Further, the sign of an efg in cubic CaF2 originating from a19F interstitial adjacent to the activated20F probe nucleus has been determined. The method is in principle applicable to a considerable number of nuclides.  相似文献

Sign and magnitude of the electric quadrupole interaction of the 828 keV state of115In in a Zn single crystal was determined by aβ-γ TDPAC measurement. The result:v Q =e·'Q I V zz /h=?193(13)MHz confirms the universal correlation between the electronic and ionic contributions to the total electric field gradient proposed by R.S.
