We consider an anharmonic crystal described by variablesS x ,x d ,S x , with one-body interaction ¦S x ¦ and nearest neighbor (n.n.) two body interaction ¦S x –S y ¦. We prove that, for d bounded, , where is the correlation function for the free boundary condition Gibbs state in ,>0 and are suitable constants independent of and . The gyroscope in an orbiting satellite will be acted on by additional gravitational fields due to the rotation of the earth and due to the orbital velocity of the satellite. According to special relativistic gravitational theory, we deduce L (S) —the gyroscope's precession rate due to the orbital velocity—and S (S) —the gyroscope's precession rate due to the earth's rotation in the polar orbit case. The results are L (S) = (2/3) L (G) , S (S) = (3/2) cos (1 - sin2 cos2)1/2 S (G) , where and are the gyroscope's polar angles, and L (G) and S (G) are the geodetic and frame-dragging precession rates predicted by general relativity, respectively.  相似文献

For automorphism groups of operator algebras we show how properties of the difference t – ' t are reflected in relations between the generators , . Indeed for a von Neumann algebraM with separable predual we show that if t – 't 0.28 for smallt, then = 0(+)°-1 where is an inner automorphism ofM and is a bounded derivation ofM. If the difference t – ' t =O(t) ast ; 0, then = + and if t – ' t 0.28 for allt then =. We consider a lattice of spin 1/2 ions, described by the discrete form of the current commutation relationsJ i J (i) =1/2, [J i ,J i ]=i ij J i where =1, 2, 3 andi label the lattice sites. The algebra is realized as the Clifford algebra over a Hilbert space. The equations of motion are specified by a formal Hamiltonian of the Heisenberg form: , wheref ij 0 and only a finite numberQ of ions are linked to any given lattice site. We prove that the Hamiltonian is non-negative in a representation of , and has a ground state exhibiting ferromagnetism. The time displacement group acts continuously on , inducing automorphisms. is asymptotically abelian with respect to the space translations of the lattice.The model is an example of an algebraic quantum field theory and possesses a broken symmetry, the rotation group 0(3). In terms of the Dirac operator P, we introduce on any field a first-order operator D and show that the operator (–) on the spinors (=(n/4(n–1))R; dim W=n) is positive. By means of a universal formula, we show that, on a compact spin manifold of dimension 3, the Hijazi inequality [8] holds for every spinor field such that (P, P) = 2(, ) (=const.). In the limiting case, the manifold admits a Killing spinor which can be evaluated in terms of . Different properties of spin manifolds admitting Killing spinors are proved. We use the reference interaction site model (RISM) integral equation theory to study the percolation behavior of fluids composed of long molecules. We examine the roles of hard core size and of length-to-width ratio on the percolation threshold. The critical density c is a nonmonotonic function of these parameters exhibiting competition of different effects. Comparisons with Monte Carlo calculations of others are reasonably good. For critical exponents, the theory yields =2=2 for molecules of any noninfinite lengthL. WhenL is very large, the theory yields cL –2. These predictions compare favorably with observations of the conductivity for random assemblies of conductive fibers. The threshold region where asymptotic scaling holds requires the correlation length (/ c ) –v to be much larger thanL. Evidently, the range of densities in this region diminishes asL increases, requiring that density deviations from c be no larger thanL –2. Otherwise, crossover behavior will be observed.  相似文献

Semi-infinite systems are considered with long-range surface fields B z –(1+r) for large distancesz from the surface. The influence of such fields on the global phase diagram and on the critical singularities of depinning transitions is studied within Landau theory. For |B|0, the correlation length diverges as b –1/2 withb=|Bln|B–(1+r). For finiteB, t v withv =(2+r)/(2+2r) wheret measures the distance from bulk coexistence. Within the general framework ofC*-algebra approach to mathematical foundation of statistical mechanics, we prove a theorem which gives a natural explanation for the appearance of the chemical potential (as a thermodynamical parameter labelling equilibrium states) in the presence of a symmetry (under gauge transformations of the first kind). Using Galilean time and retarded distance as coordinates the usual Kerr metric is expressed in form similar to the Newman-Unti-Tamburino (NUT) metric. The combined Kerr-NUT metric is then investigated. In addition to the Kerr and NUT solutions of Einstein's equations, three other types of solutions are derived. These are (i) the radiating Kerr solution, (ii) the radiating NUT solution satisfyingR ik= i k , i i = 0, and (iii) the associated Kerr solution satisfyingR ik=0. Solution (i) is distinct from and simpler than the one reported earlier by two of us (P.C.V.; L.K.P) [6]. We establish the following new correlation inequalities for the truncated twopoint function of an Ising ferromagnet in a positive external field: j ; l T j ; k T k ; l T , and j ; l T k K j ; k T k l , whereK is any set of sites which separatesj froml. The inequalities are also valid for the pure phases with zero magnetic field at all temperatures. Quantum Hall plateaus are entered via quantized cyclotron (QC) cloud-chamber orbits that have Landau-level (LL) energies and uniquely-defined angular momenta. The conservation of angular momentum in the quantum Hall system requires both canonical and magnetic angular momentum components, which add together to form the invariant kinematic angular momentum. The only LL radial eigenfunctions that satisfy the conservation-law requirements of the QC to LL transition are the u n,l eigenstates u n,2n+1, where n = 0, 1, 2, .... These same eigenstates uniquely have the correct scaled sizes to tile the observed families of = 1/(2n + 1) Hall plateaus. Quantum Hall plateau formation is a direct consequence of this tiling.  相似文献

Experimental data on 0 meson polarization in p reaction at 5 GeV/c are presented. Change in 0 meson polarization for mesons produced at smallP 2 and atP 2 0·3 or produced in backward direction in CMS is demonstrated. Natural explanation of these phenomena is one pion exchange mechanism and mechanism of quark-antiquark annihilation as observed for 0 meson production in¯pp reactions.The authors are indebted to Ján Piút, Richard Lednický, V. Particle-in-cell Monte Carlo code is used to simulate gas discharge initiated by a high current (I e10kA) middle energy ( e10keV) hot ( e1 keV) electron stream. The generation of such an overthermal electron stream has been clearly demonstrated at the experimental REBEX facility during the relativistic electron beam-plasma interaction. When the electron beam (represented by1000 macroparticles) is injected into the drift tube filled by neutral gas (hydrogen,p=13.3–133 Pa) two different stages are observed. During the initial stage the arising Virtual Cathode (VC) is filled by hydrogen ions. The VC disappears when the quasineutrality of ionized gas is achieved.
