We consider a lattice of spin 1/2 ions, described by the discrete form of the current commutation relationsJ i J (i) =1/2, [J i ,J i ]=i ij J i where =1, 2, 3 andi label the lattice sites. The algebra is realized as the Clifford algebra over a Hilbert space. The equations of motion are specified by a formal Hamiltonian of the Heisenberg form: , wheref ij 0 and only a finite numberQ of ions are linked to any given lattice site. We prove that the Hamiltonian is non-negative in a representation of , and has a ground state exhibiting ferromagnetism. The time displacement group acts continuously on , inducing automorphisms. is asymptotically abelian with respect to the space translations of the lattice.The model is an example of an algebraic quantum field theory and possesses a broken symmetry, the rotation group 0(3). The consequent Goldstone theorem is proved, namely, there is no energy gap in the spectrum ofH.  相似文献

With aC*-algebra with unit andgG g a homomorphic map of a groupG into the automorphism group ofG, the central measure of a state of is invariant under the action ofG (in the state space of ) iff is -invariant. Furthermore if the pair { ,G} is asymptotically abelian, is ergodic iff is ergodic. Transitive ergodic states (corresponding to transitive central measures) are centrally decomposed into primary states whose isotropy groups form a conjugacy class of subgroups. IfG is locally compact and acts continuously on , the associated covariant representations of { , } are those induced by such subgroups. Transitive states under time-translations must be primary if required to be stable. The last section offers a complete classification of the isotropy groups of the primary states occurring in the central decomposition of euclidean transitive ergodic invariant states.  相似文献

Thin film Al/Sb2Pb1Se7/Al metal-glass-metal sandwiched structures prepared using thermal evaporation technique have been studied. The I–V measurements showed that the devices switched from high resistance OFF state to a low resistance ON state when a particular voltage appeared across it. The OFF state I–V characteristics showed non-ohmic behaviour while in the ON state the devices displayed purely linear characteristics. The switching voltage (V th) was found to depend on film thickness and temperature of the device. A linear relation between Vth and temperature was observed.  相似文献

Concrete C*-algebras, interpreted physically as algebras of observables, are defined for quantum mechanics and local quantum field theory.Aquantum mechanical system is characterized formally by a continuous unitary representation up to a factorU g of a symmetry group in Hilbert space and a von Neumann algebra on invariant with respect toU g . The set of all operatorsX such thatU g X U g –1 , as a function ofg , is continuous with respect to the uniform operator topology, is aC*-algebra called thealgebra of observables. The algebra is shown to be the weak (or strong) closure of .Infield theory, a unitary representation up to a factorU(a, ) of the proper inhomogeneous Lorentz group and local von Neumann algebras C for finite open space-time regionsC are assumed, with the usual transformation properties of underU(a, ). A new method is proposed for calculating the energy in certain special points of the Brillouin zone. The wave functions of valence and conduction electrons are given in the form of the linear combination of plane waves and the orthogonality condition of these functions to the wave functions of lower states is replaced by the repulsive potential. The practical application of this very simple method is illustrated on the energy spectrum of silicon in the centre of the Brillouin zone. It is proved that the results are comparable with some other methods, e. g. the orthogonalized plane-wave method.

The stability of the homogeneously broadened and degenerate two-photon running wave laser is analysed by using the full set of matter-field equations. The stability depends on the relative size of the relaxation constants. For 2k>1+r(k=/,r=/; is the cavity loss of the field and , are the longitudinal and transversal decay constants, respectively) no stable lasing state exists. Forr<k<(1+r)/2 an instability occurs. With the decrease in pumping the stable lasing state loses its stability due to Hopf-bifurcation.  相似文献

The periodic domain structures on unfavourably oriented surface layers of ferromagnetic materials were studied both experimentally and theoretically. The connection between the surface structure and the crystallographic orientation of the crystals was confirmed. All the terms contributing to the total energy of the surface layer were calculated. A general solution of the potential problem is given for arbitrary periodic distribution of the charges.

In ordinary quantum mechanics for finite systems, the time evolution induced by Hamiltonians of the form is studied from the point of view of *-automorphisms of the CCRC*-algebra (see Ref. [1, 2]). For automorphism groups of operator algebras we show how properties of the difference t – ' t are reflected in relations between the generators , . A new expression e is obtained for resonance in the reaction e+e ar + with allowance for the radiative corrections, which also contain the emission of hard photons by the final leptons and the final value of the energy resolution E. An expression is obtained for the total probability of radiative lepton decay. We rigorously derive a linear kinetic equation of Fokker–Planck type for a 2-D Lorentz gas in which the obstacles are randomly distributed. Each obstacle of the Lorentz gas generates a potential V( ), where V is a smooth radially symmetric function with compact support, and >0. The density of obstacles diverges as , where >0. We prove that when 0< <1/8 and =2+1, the probability density of a test particle converges as 0 to a solution of our kinetic equation.  相似文献

Metallic cluster growth within a reactive polymer matrix is modeled by augmenting coagulation equations to include the influence of side reactions of metal atoms with the polymer matrix: where > 0 and where c k denotes the concentration of the kth cluster and p denotes the concentration of reactive sites available within the polymer matrix for reaction with metallic atoms. The initial conditions are required to be non-negative and satisfy and p(0) = p 0. We assume that for 01, which encompasses both bond linking kernels (R jk = j k ) and surface reaction kernels (R jk = j + k ). Our analytical and numerical results indicate that the side reactions delay gelation in some cases and inhibit gelation in others. We provide numerical evidence that gelation occurs for the classical coagulation equations ( = 0) with the bond linking kernel (d ) for 1/2<1. We examine the relative fraction of metal atoms, which coagulate compared to those which interact with the polymer matrix, and demonstrate in particular a linear dependence on –1 in the limiting case R = jk , p 0=1.  相似文献

We wish to study the construction of charge-carrying fields given the representation of the observable algebra in the sector of states of zero charge. It is shown that the set of those covariant sectors which can be obtained from the vacuum sector by acting with localized automorphisms has the structure of a discrete Abelian group. An algebra of fields can be defined on the Hilbert space of a representation of the observable algebra which contains each of the above sectors exactly once. The dual group of acts as a gauge group on in such a way that is the gauge invariant part of is made up of Bose and Fermi fields and is determined uniquely by the commutation relations between spacelike separated fields.  相似文献
