In this article, we study the energy decay rate for an elastic Timoshenko system. This system consists of two coupled wave equations. Only the equation about the rotation angle is damped by one locally distributed feedback at the neighbourhood of the boundary. The equation for the transverse displacement of the beam is only indirectly damped through the coupling. First, we establish an exponential energy decay rate in the case of the same speed of propagation. Next, when the wave speeds are different, a polynomial-type decay rate is obtained. These results are proved by verifying the frequency domain conditions.  相似文献

We study the Cauchy problem for the generalized IBq equation with hydrodynamical damped term in n-dimensional space. We observe that the dissipative structure of the linearized equation is of the regularity-loss type. This means that we have the optimal decay estimates of solutions under the additional regularity assumption on the initial data. Under smallness condition on the initial data, we prove the global existence and decay of the small amplitude solution in the Sobolev space.  相似文献

This work deals with the study of a new class of nonlinear viscoelastic Kirchhoff equation with Balakrishnan‐Taylor damping and logarithmic nonlinearity. A decay result of the energy of solutions for the problem without imposing the usual relation between a certain relaxation function and its derivative is established. This result generalizes earlier ones to an arbitrary rate of decay, which is not necessarily of exponential or polynomial decay.  相似文献

We consider the decay rate of energy of the 1D damped original nonlinear wave equation. We first construct a new energy function. Then, employing the perturbed energy method and the generalized Young’s inequality, we prove that, with a general growth assumption on the nonlinear damping force near the origin, the decay rate of energy is governed by a dissipative ordinary differential equation. This allows us to recover the classical exponential, polynomial, or logarithmic decay rate for the linear, polynomial or exponentially degenerating damping force near the origin, respectively. Unlike the linear wave equation, the exponential decay rate constant depends on the initial data, due to the nonlinearity.  相似文献

In this paper, the initial value problem for the drift-diffusion equation which stands for a model of a semiconductor device is studied. When the dissipative effect on the drift-diffusion equation is given by the half Laplacian, the dissipation balances to the extra force term. This case is called critical. The goal of this paper is to derive decay and asymptotic expansion of the solution to the drift-diffusion equation as time variable tends to infinity.  相似文献

We prove the pointwise decay of solutions to three linear equations: (1) the transport equation in phase space generalizing the classical Vlasov equation, (2) the linear Schrödinger equation, (3) the Airy (linear KdV) equation. The usual proofs use explicit representation formulae, and either obtain \(L^1\)\(L^\infty \) decay through directly estimating the fundamental solution in physical space or by studying oscillatory integrals coming from the representation in Fourier space. Our proof instead combines “vector field” commutators that capture the inherent symmetries of the relevant equations with conservation laws for mass and energy to get space–time weighted energy estimates. Combined with a simple version of Sobolev’s inequality this gives pointwise decay as desired. In the case of the Vlasov and Schrödinger equations, we can recover sharp pointwise decay; in the Schrödinger case we also show how to obtain local energy decay as well as Strichartz-type estimates. For the Airy equation we obtain a local energy decay that is almost sharp from the scaling point of view, but nonetheless misses the classical estimates by a gap. This work is inspired by the work of Klainerman on \(L^2\)\(L^\infty \) decay of wave equations, as well as the recent work of Fajman, Joudioux, and Smulevici on decay of mass distributions for the relativistic Vlasov equation.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the Cauchy problem for the generalized improved Boussinesq equation with Stokes damped term in n-dimensional space. We observe that the dissipative structure of the linearized equation is of the regularity-loss type. This means that we have the optimal decay estimates of solutions under the additional regularity assumption on the initial data. Based on the decay estimates of solutions to the corresponding linear equation and smallness condition on the initial data, we prove the global existence and asymptotic of the small amplitude solution in the time-weighted Sobolev space by the contraction mapping principle.  相似文献

This paper is concerning the problem determined by a viscoelastic plate when the heat is determined by the type II Green–Naghdi theory. Meanwhile the usual modeling is the combination of a conservative equation for the displacement and a dissipative equation for the temperature, we here change the role of the components and we propose a conservative component for the heat conduction, but a dissipative component for the displacement. In this situation, we consider this problem in the whole space and derive the decay estimates of solutions. Furthermore, the optimality of the decay estimate is discussed.  相似文献

This work is concerned with obtention of energy decay estimates for Petrowsky equation with a nonlinear dissipation which is active only in an interior subset of the domain. We prove that the piecewise multiplier method as introduced by [20] and [22] for the wave equation can be extended to the Petrowsky equation. Moreover, we also apply some recent results by the author to obtain precise decay rate estimates for the energy, without specifying the growth of the nonlinear dissipation close to the origin by means of convex properties and nonlinear integral inequalities for the energy of the solutions.  相似文献

In this article, we study the dynamics of large-scale motion in atmosphere and ocean governed by the 3D quasi-geostrophic potential vorticity (QGPV) equation with a constant stratification. It is shown that for a Kolmogorov forcing on the first energy shell, there exist a family of exact solutions that are dissipative Rossby waves. The nonlinear stability of these exact solutions are analyzed based on the assumptions on the growth rate of the forcing. In the absence of forcing, we show the existence of selective decay states for the 3D QGPV equation. The selective decay states are the 3D Rossby waves traveling horizontally at a constant speed. All these results can be regarded as the expansion of that of the 2D QGPV system and in the case of 3D QGPV system with isotropic viscosity. Finally, we present a geometric foundation for the model as a general equation for nonequilibrium reversible-irreversible coupling.  相似文献

The energy of solutions of the wave equation with a suitable boundary dissipation decays exponentially to zero as time goes to infinity. We consider the finite-difference space semi-discretization scheme and we analyze whether the decay rate is independent of the mesh size. We focus on the one-dimensional case. First we show that the decay rate of the energy of the classical semi-discrete system in which the 1?d Laplacian is replaced by a three-point finite difference scheme is not uniform with respect to the net-spacing size h. Actually, the decay rate tends to zero as h goes to zero. Then we prove that adding a suitable vanishing numerical viscosity term leads to a uniform (with respect to the mesh size) exponential decay of the energy of solutions. This numerical viscosity term damps out the high frequency numerical spurious oscillations while the convergence of the scheme towards the original damped wave equation is kept. Our method of proof relies essentially on discrete multiplier techniques.  相似文献

We study radial solutions to the generalized Swift-Hohenberg equation on the plane with an additional quadratic term. We find stationary localized radial solutions that decay at infinity and solutions that tend to constants as the radius increases unboundedly (“droplets”). We formulate existence theorems for droplets and sketch the proofs employing the properties of the limit system as r → ∞. This system is a Hamiltonian system corresponding to a spatially one-dimensional stationary Swift-Hohenberg equation. We analyze the properties of this system and also discuss concentric-wave-type solutions. All the results are obtained by combining the methods of the theory of dynamical systems, in particular, the theory of homo-and heteroclinic orbits, and numerical simulation.  相似文献

In this paper, we use the combination of energy method and Fourier analysis to obtain the optimal time decay of the Boltzmann equation with frictional force towards equilibrium. Precisely speaking, we decompose the equation into macroscopic and microscopic partitions and perform the energy estimation. Then, we construct a special solution operator to a linearized equation without source term and use Fourier analysis to obtain the optimal decay rate to this solution operator. Finally, combining the decay rate with the energy estimation for nonlinear terms, the optimal decay rate to the Boltzmann equation with frictional force is established.  相似文献

This paper is to investigate the optimal Lp (p2) time decay rate of global solutions to the two-fluid incompressible Navier–Stokes–Fourier–Poisson system with Ohm’s law. The result shows that the time decay rate of this system achieves the same as that of the incompressible Navier–Stokes equation, in other words, the coupling of the self-consistent Poisson equation does not change the decay rate of the incompressible Navier–Stokes equation. This phenomenon is interesting, compared to the compressible Navier–Stokes equation, whose time decay rate decreases when it is coupled with the self-consistent Poisson equation.  相似文献

This paper is devoted to the study of the rapid exponential stabilization problem for a controlled Korteweg–de Vries equation on a bounded interval with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions and Neumann boundary control at the right endpoint of the interval. For every noncritical length, we build a feedback control law to force the solution of the closed-loop system to decay exponentially to zero with arbitrarily prescribed decay rates, provided that the initial datum is small enough. Our approach relies on the construction of a suitable integral transform and can be applied to many other equations.  相似文献

In this note we study the time-dependent Schrödinger equation on complex semi-simple Lie groups. We show that if the initial data is a bi-invariant function that has sufficient decay and the solution has sufficient decay at another fixed value of time, then the solution has to be identically zero for all time. We also derive Strichartz and decay estimates for the Schrödinger equation. Our methods also extend to the wave equation. On the Heisenberg group we show that the failure to obtain a parametrix for our Schrödinger equation is related to the fact that geodesics project to circles on the contact plane at the identity.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the large time behavior of solutions to the initial value problem for the damped wave equations with nonlinear convection in one‐dimensional whole space. In 2007, Ueda and Kawashima showed that the solution tends to a self similar solution of the Burgers equation. However, they did not mention that their decay estimate is optimal or not. Under this situation, the aim of this paper was to find out the sharp decay estimate by studying the second asymptotic profile of solutions. The explicit representation formula and the decay estimates of the solution for the linearized equation including the lower order term play crucial roles in our analysis.  相似文献

This paper proves the existence of a bounded energy and integrated energy decay for solutions of the massless Vlasov equation in the exterior of a very slowly rotating Kerr spacetime. This combines methods previously developed to prove similar results for the wave equation on the exterior of a very slowly rotating Kerr spacetime with recent work applying the vector-field method to the relativistic Vlasov equation.  相似文献
