On the Bergman space of the unit ball in Cn, we solve the zero-product problem for two Toeplitz operators with harmonic symbols that have continuous extensions to (some part of) the boundary. In the case where symbols have Lipschitz continuous extensions to the boundary, we solve the zero-product problem for multiple products with the number of factors depending on the dimension n of the underlying space; the number of factors is n+3. We also prove a local version of this result but with loss of a factor.  相似文献

On the Bergman space of the unit ball of Cn, we study the finite rank problem for Toeplitz products with harmonic symbols. We first solve the problem with two factors in case symbols have local continuous extension property up to the boundary. Also, in case symbols have additional Lipschitz continuity up to (some part of) the boundary, we solve the problem for multiple products with number of factors depending on the dimension n. In this paper, we study the solutions to the generalized Helmholtz equation with complex parameter on some conformally flat cylinders and on the n‐torus. Using the Clifford algebra calculus, the solutions can be expressed as multi‐periodic eigensolutions to the Dirac operator associated with a complex parameter λ∈?. Physically, these can be interpreted as the solutions to the time‐harmonic Maxwell equations on these manifolds. We study their fundamental properties and give an explicit representation theorem of all these solutions and develop some integral representation formulas. In particular, we set up Green‐type formulas for the cylindrical and toroidal Helmholtz operator. As a concrete application, we explicitly solve the Dirichlet problem for the cylindrical Helmholtz operator on the half cylinder. Finally, we introduce hypercomplex integral operators on these manifolds, which allow us to represent the solutions to the inhomogeneous Helmholtz equation with given boundary data on cylinders and on the n‐torus. We prove the existence of commutative C*-algebras of Toeplitz operators on every weighted Bergman space over the complex projective space \mathbbPn\mathbb(C){{\mathbb{P}^n}\mathbb{(C)}}. The symbols that define our algebras are those that depend only on the radial part of the homogeneous coordinates. The algebras presented have an associated pair of Lagrangian foliations with distinguished geometric properties and are closely related to the geometry of \mathbbPn\mathbb(C){{\mathbb{P}^n}\mathbb{(C)}}.  相似文献

We obtain an asymptotic expansion of the Dirichlet to Neumann operator (DNO) for the Dirichlet problem on perturbations of the unit disk. We write our result in terms of pseudodifferential operators which themselves have expansions in the perturbation parameter. For a given power of the perturbation parameter, m > 0, and a given order, n < 0, we give an algorithm which allows for the expansion of the symbol of the DNO up to mth power in the perturbation parameter, with error terms belonging to symbols of order n.  相似文献

This paper studies a simple method—Similar Constructing Method (SCM)—for constructing the exact solutions of the nonhomogeneous mixed boundary value problem for sets of n‐interval composite second‐order ordinary differential equation (ODE) with variable coefficient. Then this paper proves the correctness of the solution obtained by SCM. After that, this paper has done simulation experiment. This section uses the SCM to solve the nonhomogeneous boundary value problem of three‐interval composite Bessel equation. Solutions are presented in graphical form for various parameter values, and the influence of parameters on the solution is analyzed. The example shows that using SCM to solve the class of nonhomogeneous mixed boundary value problems of n‐interval composite second‐order linear ODE is easy, convenient, and effective.  相似文献

For an nth-order differential equation with right-hand side satisfying the Carathéodory conditions, we consider a two-point boundary value problem with boundary conditions of which the first two have a general form and the remaining conditions are simplest. We show that the existence of a lower and an upper function and the compactness condition imply the solvability of this boundary value problem.  相似文献

The spectral theory for general non–selfadjoint elliptic boundary problems involving a discontinuous weight function has been well developed under certain restrictions concerning the weight function. In the course of extending the results so far established to a more general weight function, there arises the problem of establishing, in an Lp Sobolev space setting, the existence of and a priori estimates for solutions for a boundary problem for the half–space ?n+ involving a weight function which vanishes at the boundary xn = 0. On a finite interval, we consider a parametric differential pencil of the singular irregular type with an n-fold multiple characteristic and with boundary conditions all of which except for the last are posed at the left end of the interval. Given ann-vertex simple polygonP, the problem of computing the shortest weakly visible subedge ofPis that of finding a shortest line segmentson the boundary ofPsuch thatPis weakly visible froms(ifsexists). In this paper, we present new geometric observations that are useful for solving this problem. Based on these geometric observations, we obtain optimal sequential and parallel algorithms for solving this problem. Our sequential algorithm runs inO(n) time, and our parallel algorithm runs inO(log n) time usingO(n/log n) processors in the CREW PRAM computational model. Using the previously best known sequential algorithms to solve this problem would takeO(n2) time. We also give geometric observations that lead to extremely simple and optimal algorithms for solving, both sequentially and in parallel, the case of this problem where the polygons are rectilinear.  相似文献

For n ≥ 0, we exhibit CAT(0) groups that are n-connected at infinity, and have boundary which is (n − 1)-connected, but this boundary has non-trivial nth-homotopy group. In particular, we construct 1-ended CAT(0) groups that are simply connected at infinity, but have a boundary with non-trivial fundamental group. Our base examples are 1-ended CAT(0) groups that have non-path connected boundaries. In particular, we show all parabolic semidirect products of the free group of rank 2 and have a non-path connected boundary.  相似文献

The exact string matching problem is to find the occurrences of a pattern of length m from a text of length n symbols. We develop a novel and unorthodox filtering technique for this problem. Our method is based on transforming the problem into multiple matching of carefully chosen pattern subsequences. While this is seemingly more difficult than the original problem, we show that the idea leads to very simple algorithms that are optimal on average. We then show how our basic method can be used to solve multiple string matching as well as several approximate matching problems in average optimal time. The general method can be applied to many existing string matching algorithms. Our experimental results show that the algorithms perform very well in practice.  相似文献

The present article deals with existence and uniqueness results for a nonlinear evolution initial‐boundary value problem, which originates in an age‐structured cell population model introduced by Lebowitz and Rubinow (1974) describing the growth of a cell population. Cells of this population are distinguished by age a and cycle length l. In our framework, daughter and mother cells are related by a general reproduction rule that covers all known biological ones. In this paper, the cycle length l is allowed to be infinite. This hypothesis introduces some mathematical difficulties. We consider both local and nonlocal boundary conditions.  相似文献

In the Connected Red–Blue Dominating Set problem we are given a graph G whose vertex set is partitioned into two parts R and B (red and blue vertices), and we are asked to find a connected subgraph induced by a subset S of B such that each red vertex of G is adjacent to some vertex in S. The problem can be solved in O?(2n−|B|) time by reduction to the Weighted Steiner Tree problem. Combining exhaustive enumeration when |B| is small with the Weighted Steiner Tree approach when |B| is large, solves the problem in O?(n1.4143). In this paper we present a first non-trivial exact algorithm whose running time is in O?(n1.3645). We use our algorithm to solve the Connected Dominating Set problem in O?(n1.8619). This improves the current best known algorithm, which used sophisticated run-time analysis via the measure and conquer technique to solve the problem in O?(n1.8966).  相似文献

It is a longstanding open problem in algebraic model theory to determine the model companions of the varieties of relative Stone algebras. Following Weispfenning's general model theory of Boolean products of structures we obtain various theories of Heyting algebras which are model and substructure complete. This works by adding only finitely many constant symbols to the language of Heyting algebras, one of which denoting a global dual atom. Thereby we especially obtain quantifier elimination for theories of atomless Post algebras of order n.  相似文献

The paper is devoted to the investigation of a parabolic partial differential equation with non‐local and time‐dependent boundary conditions arising from ductal carcinoma in situ model. Approximation solution of the present problem is implemented by the Ritz–Galerkin method, which is a first attempt at tackling parabolic equation with such non‐classical boundary conditions. In the process of dealing with the difficulty caused by integral term in non‐local boundary condition, we use a trick of introducing the transition function G(x,t) to convert non‐local boundary to another non‐classical boundary, which can be handled with the Ritz–Galerkin method. In this article, we consider the Hamilton‐Waterloo problem for the case of Hamilton cycles and triangle‐factors when the order of the complete graph Kn is even. We completely solved the problem for the case n≡24 (mod 36). For the cases n≡0 (mod 18) and n≡6 (mod 36), we gave an almost complete solution. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Combin.
