TiCu2Al ternary intermetallic compound coating has been in situ synthesized successfully on pure Ti substrate by laser cladding. Tribological properties of the prepared TiCu2Al intermetallic compound coating were systematically evaluated. It was found that the friction coefficient and wear rate was closely related to the normal load and sliding speed, i.e., the friction coefficient of the prepared TiCu2Al intermetallic compound coating decreased with increasing normal load and sliding speed. The wear rate of the TiCu2Al intermetallic compound coating decreased rapidly with increasing sliding speed, while the wear rate first increased and then decreased at normal load from 5 to 15 N.  相似文献

Laser cladding of the Al + TiC alloy powder on Ti-6Al-4V alloy can form the Ti3Al/TiAl + TiC ceramic layer. In this study, TiC particle-dispersed Ti3Al/TiAl matrix ceramic layer on the Ti-6Al-4V alloy by laser cladding has been researched by means of X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope, electron probe micro-analyzer, energy dispersive spectrometer. The main difference from the earlier reports is that Ti3Al/TiAl has been chosen as the matrix of the composite coating. The wear resistance of the Al + 30 wt.% TiC and the Al + 40 wt.% TiC cladding layer was approximately 2 times greater than that of the Ti-6Al-4V substrate due to the reinforcement of the Ti3Al/TiAl + TiC hard phases. However, when the TiC mass percent was above 40 wt.%, the thermal stress value was greater than the materials yield strength limit in the ceramic layer, the microcrack was present and its wear resistance decreased.  相似文献

Coatings containing Ti-Al intermetallics are fabricated by the electrospark deposition of titanium on aluminum and aluminum on titanium. The microstructure and composition of the grown coatings is studied by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and S-ray microanalysis. It is found that the surface layer formed in argon mostly contains the α-TiAl3 intermetallic independent of the duration and frequency of discharge pulses. The γ-TiAl and α2-Ti3Al phases can be obtained by aluminum deposition on titanium followed by the subsequent deposition of a second titanium layer. Aluminum oxide and titanium nitride are additionally formed during the deposition of electrospark coatings in air.  相似文献

Improvement of mechanical and tribological properties on AISI D3 steel surfaces coated with [Ti-Al/Ti-Al-N]n multilayer systems deposited in various bilayer periods (Λ) via magnetron co-sputtering pulsed d.c. method, from a metallic binary target; has been studied in this work exhaustively. The multilayer coatings were characterized in terms of structural, chemical, morphological, mechanical and tribological properties by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), atomic force microscopy (AFM), scanning electron microscopy, nanoindentation, pin-on-disc and scratch tests, respectively. The failure mode mechanisms were studied by optical microscopy. Results from X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that the crystal structure of TiAl/TiAlN multilayer coatings has a tetragonal and FCC NaCl-type lattice structures for Ti-Al and Ti-Al-N, respectively, i.e., it was found to be non-isostructural multilayers. An enhancement of both hardness and elastic modulus up to 29 GPa and 260 GPa, respectively, was observed as the bilayer periods (Λ) in the coatings were decreased. The sample with a bilayer period (Λ) of 25 nm and bilayer number n = 100 showed the lowest friction coefficient (∼0.28) and the highest critical load (45 N), corresponding to 2.7 and 1.5 times better than those values for the coating deposited with n = 1, respectively. These results indicate an enhancement of mechanical, tribological and adhesion properties, comparing to the [Ti-Al/Ti-Al-N]n multilayer systems with 1 bilayer at 26%, 63% and 33%, respectively. This enhancement in hardness and toughness for multilayer coatings could be attributed to the different mechanisms for layer formation with nanometric thickness such as the novel Ti-Al/Ti-Al-N effect and the number of interfaces that act as obstacles for the crack deflection and dissipation of crack energy.  相似文献

In order to investigate the microstructure characteristics and properties of Ni-based WC composite coatings containing a relatively large amount of WC particles by laser induction hybrid rapid cladding (LIHRC) and compare to the individual laser cladding without preheating, Ni60A + 35 wt.% WC composite coatings are deposited on A3 steel plates by LIHRC and the individual laser cladding without preheating. The composite coating produced by the individual laser cladding without preheating exhibits many cracks and pores, while the smooth composite coating without cracks and pores is obtained by LIHRC. Moreover, the cast WC particles take on the similar dissolution characteristics in Ni60A + 35 wt.% WC composite coatings by LIHRC and the individual laser cladding without preheating. Namely, the completely dissolved WC particles interact with Ni-based alloy solvent to precipitate the blocky and herringbone carbides, while the partially dissolved WC particles still preserve the primary lamellar eutectic structure. A few WC particles are split at the interface of WC and W2C, and then interact with Ni-based alloy solvent to precipitate the lamellar carbides. Compared with the individual laser cladding without preheating, LIHRC has the relatively lower temperature gradient and the relatively higher laser scanning speed. Therefore, LIHRC can produce the crack-free composite coating with relatively higher microhardness and relatively more homogeneous distribution of WC particles and is successfully applied to strengthen the corrugated roller, showing that LIHRC process has a higher efficiency and good cladding quality.  相似文献

Materials’ surface service property could be enhanced by transition metal nitride hard coatings due to their high hardness, wear and high temperature oxidation resistance, but the higher friction coefficient (0.4-0.9) of which aroused terrible abrasion. In this work, quinternary (Ti,Al,Si,C)N hard coating 3-4 μm was synthesized at 300 °C using plasma enhanced magnetron sputtering system. It was found that the coating's columnar crystals structure was restrained obviously with the increase of C content and a non-columnar crystals growth mode was indicated at the C content of 33.5 at.%. Both the XRD and TEM showed that the (Ti,Al,Si,C)N hard coatings had unique nanocomposite structures composed of nanocrystalline and amorphous nc-(Ti,Al)(C,N)/nc-AlN/a-Si3N4/a-Si/a-C. However, the coatings were still super hard with the highest hardness of 41 GPa in spite of the carbon incorporation. That a-C could facilitate the graphitization process during the friction process which could improve the coating's tribological performance. Therefore, that nanocomposite (Ti,Al,Si,C)N coatings with higher hardness (>36 GPa) and a lower friction coefficient (<0.2) could be synthesized and enhance the tribological performance and surface properties profoundly.  相似文献

The high temperature self-lubricating wear-resistant NiCr/Cr3C2-30%WS2 coating and wear-resistant NiCr/Cr3C2 coating were fabricated on 0Cr18Ni9 austenitic stainless steel by laser cladding. Phase constitutions and microstructures were investigated, and the tribological properties were evaluated using a ball-on-disc wear tester under dry sliding condition at room-temperature (17 °C), 300 °C and 600 °C, respectively. Results indicated that the laser clad NiCr/Cr3C2 coating consisted of Cr7C3 primary phase and γ-(Fe,Ni)/Cr7C3 eutectic colony, while the coating added with WS2 was mainly composed of Cr7C3 and (Cr,W)C carbides, with the lubricating WS2 and CrS sulfides as the minor phases. The wear tests showed that the friction coefficients of two coatings both decrease with the increasing temperature, while the both wear rates increase. The friction coefficient of laser clad NiCr/Cr3C2-30%WS2 is lower than the coating without WS2 whatever at room-temperature, 300 °C, 600 °C, but its wear rate is only lower at 300 °C. It is considered that the laser clad NiCr/Cr3C2-30%WS2 composite coating has good combination of anti-wear and friction-reducing capabilities at room-temperature up to 300 °C.  相似文献

CrN coatings were prepared by filtered cathodic vacuum arc (FCVA) technique. The influence of the deposition parameters (nitrogen partial pressure PN2, substrate bias voltage Vs and preheating of the substrate) on the structural, mechanical and tribological properties of the FCVA CrN coatings was investigated. Further, the FCVA CrN coating was compared in dry reciprocating sliding with commercial multi-arc ion plating (MAIP) CrN coating as to friction and wear properties. Profilometer, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDX) were used to evaluate the wear scars and the wear mechanisms were discussed. The results showed that the structural, mechanical and tribological properties of the FCVA CrN coatings were significantly dependent on the deposition parameters. The FCVA CrN coating deposited with PN2 of 0.1 Pa, Vs of −100 V and without preheating exhibited the optimal mechanical and tribological properties. The FCVA CrN coating exhibited much better anti-abrasive and anti-spalling properties than the MAIP CrN coating, which was resulted from significant reduction of macroparticles and pitting defects by the FCVA technique. The MAIP CrN coating suffered severe concentrated wear by a combination wear mechanisms of delamination, abrasive and oxidative wear when high normal load was applied, while for the FCVA CrN coating the wear mechanisms were ultra-mild abrasive and oxidative wear.  相似文献

Wear-resistant coatings were prepared on the surface of the Q235 low-carbon steel plate by HVAS with the carbonitride alloying self-shielded flux-cored wire. Detection and analysis on the microstructure and properties of the coatings were carried out by using scanning electron microscope, microhardness tester and wear tester. The forming, the wear resistance and its mechanism of the coatings were studied. The results show that the coatings have good forming, homogeneous microstructure and compact structure. The coatings have good hardness, the average microhardness value reaches 520 HV0.1, and the highest value is up to about 560 HV0.1. As a result, the coatings have good abrasive wear performance and adhesion strength.  相似文献

Three kinds of laser boronizing composite coatings were in situ synthesized on Ti substrate by using powders of B, BN and B4C as starting materials. Microstructures of the laser boronizing composite coatings were investigated by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM); and their worn surface morphologies were also observed by using SEM. Moreover, the friction and wear behavior of the boronizing composite coatings under dry sliding condition were evaluated using a UMT-2MT friction and wear tester. It was found that all the three types of laser boronizing composite coatings had higher microhardness and better wear resistance than pure Ti substrate; and their microstructure and wear resistance varied with varying pre-placed powders of B, BN, and B4C. Under the same dry sliding test conditions, the wear resistance of the three kinds of laser boronizing composite coatings, i.e., sample 1 prepared from pre-placed B, sample 2 obtained from pre-placed BN, and sample 3 fabricated from pre-placed B4C, is ranked in an order of sample 1 > sample 2 > sample 3, which, surprisingly, well conforms to their order of hardness and friction coefficients.  相似文献

In order to improve the tribology and high-temperature oxidation properties of the Ti-48Al-2Cr-2Nb intermetallic alloy simultaneously, mixed NiCr-Cr3C2 precursor powders had been investigated for laser cladding treatment to modify wear and high-temperature oxidation resistance of the material. The alloy samples were pre-placed with NiCr-80, 50 and 20%Cr3C2 (wt.%), respectively, and laser treated at the same parameters, i.e., laser output power 2.8 kW, beam scanning speed 2.0 mm/s, beam dimension 1 mm × 18 mm. The treated samples underwent tests of microhardness, wear and high-temperature oxidation. The results showed that laser cladding with different constitution of mixed precursor NiCr-Cr3C2 powders improved surface hardness in all cases. Laser cladding with NiCr-50%Cr3C2 resulted in the best modification of tribology and high-temperature oxidation behavior. X-ray diffraction (XRD), optical microscope (OM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive spectrometer (EDS) analyses indicated that the formation of reinforced Cr7C3, TiC and both continuous and dense Al2O3, Cr2O3 oxide scales were supposed to be responsible for the modification of the relevant properties. As a result, the present work had laid beneficial surface engineering foundation for TiAl alloy applied as future light weight and high-temperature structural candidate materials.  相似文献

Ni-Al2O3 composite coatings were prepared by using sediment co-deposition (SCD) technique and conventional electroplating (CEP) technique from Watt's type electrolyte without any additives. The microstructure, hardness, and wear resistance of resulting composites were investigated. The results show that the incorporation of nano-Al2O3 particles changes the surface morphology of nickel matrix. The preferential orientation is modified from (2 0 0) plane to (1 1 1) plane. The microhardness of Ni-Al2O3 composite coatings in the SCD technique are higher than that of the CEP technique and pure Ni coating and increase with the increasing of the nano-Al2O3 particles concentration in plating solution. The wear rate of the Ni-Al2O3 composite coating fabricated via SCD technique with 10 g/l nano-Al2O3 particles in plating bath is approximately one order of magnitude lower than that of pure Ni coating. Wear resistance for SCD obtained composite coatings is superior to that obtained by the CEP technique. The wear mechanism of pure Ni and nickel nano-Al2O3 composite coatings are adhesive wear and abrasive wear, respectively.  相似文献

The coatings with different phosphorus contents were obtained by varying the concentration of H3PO3 in the electroplating bath. With the increase of phosphorus content, the structure of the Ni-P electrodeposited coatings transformed from microcrystalline to a mixture of nanocrystalline and amorphous phases, then to amorphous phase. A high hardness value of 710 HV0.1 of as-deposited Ni-P coating was obtained at 8.3 at.% phosphorus content, and high wear resistance was accordingly achieved. The refined nanocrystalline grains with average size of about 7 nm were found to be responsible for the high hardness and improved wear resistance of the as-deposited Ni-P electrodeposited coating.  相似文献

Two types of PEO coatings, one consisting of magnesium oxide (MgO) and the other comprising zirconium oxide (ZrO2) as the main phase composition were produced on AM50 magnesium alloy from alkaline and acidic electrolytes, respectively. The ZrO2 coating was found to be spongy and thicker with a higher roughness, whilst the relatively more compact MgO coating was having contrasting features. In the dry sliding oscillating wear tests under two different loads viz., 2 N and 5 N, the ZrO2 coating exhibited a very poor wear resistance. The MgO coating showed an excellent resistance to sliding wear under 2 N load; however, the load bearing capacity of the coating was found to be insufficient to resist the wear damage under 5 N load. The higher specific wear rates of the MgO coating under 5 N load and that of the ZrO2 coating under 2 N and 5 N loads were attributed to the poor load bearing capacity and a three-body-abrasive wear mechanism.  相似文献

Wear resistance of reactive plasma sprayed TiB2-TiC0.3N0.7 based composite coatings and the as-sprayed coating with laser surface treatment was investigated using plate-on-plate tests. Wear tests were performed at different normal loads and sliding speeds under dry sliding conditions in air. The surface morphologies of counterparts against as-sprayed and laser remelted coatings were investigated. The microstructure and chemical composition of wear debris and coatings were studied using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), respectively. The results show that the wear resistance of the laser remelted coating is improved significantly due to their increased microhardness and reduced flaws. The primary wear mechanism of the remelted coating is oxidation wear and its minor wear mechanisms are grain abrasion and fatigue failure during the course of wear test. In contrast, the primary wear mechanism of the as-sprayed coating is grain abrasion at the low sliding speed (370 rpm) and fatigue failure at the high sliding speed (549 rpm). The oxidation wear mechanism is a minor contributor for the as-sprayed coating.  相似文献

Through addition of Tantalum, fine TaC particles were in situ synthesized in a NiCrBSi alloy laser clad composite coating. Microstructure, microhardness and abrasive wear resistance of the composite coating were investigated. The result showed that TaC particles were dispersed in Ni based alloy composite coating, refining the microstructure of the coating after laser cladding. Amount of coarse primary carbides such as M7C3 and eutectic of γ-Ni + M23C6 substantially decreased because the formation of TaC particles suppressed the formation of M7C3 and M23C6. On the one hand, fine TaC particles acted as hard phase, which improved the microhardness of the composite coating; on the other hand, a decrease in amount of the coarse M7C3 and eutectic of γ-Ni + M23C6 reduced the crack susceptibility of the Ni based composite coating. Also, Ta element improved the abrasive wear resistance of the Ni based coating.  相似文献

The present work has investigated the influence of direct aging treatment on the precipitation sequence and properties of the Cu-15Ni-8Sn alloy coatings prepared by laser cladding. The experimental results show that the tendency of Sn segregation in the conventional Cu-15Ni-8Sn solidification microstructure is effectively relieved. Before aging, there are only two phases in the coating: the α-Cu solid solution dendrites with 7 wt.% Sn solubility, and a small fraction of Sn-enriched δ-phase at the interdendrites in rapid solidified microstructure. After the coating was directly aged at 370 °C without traditional solution pretreatment, the α-Cu solid solution dendrites experience precipitations in the order of pure spinodal decomposition, DO22-ordered structure and discontinue γ-DO3. The microhardness of the coating treated by direct aging reached 390 HV 0.5, which was higher than that treated by conventional solution and aging process owing to the solidified fine grains and hardening effect of spinodal decomposition. In addition, the Sn-enriched δ-phase at the interdendrites also decomposes to laminar discontinuous precipitated γ-DO3 phase after aging. Precipitation sequence and properties of the clad coatings change obviously during the direct aging treatment.  相似文献

TiB2 particle and TiB short fiber reinforced titanium matrix composite coatings were prepared utilizing in situ synthesized technique by laser cladding on the surface of Ti6Al4V alloy. Through the experiment, it was found that the surface of the single-track coatings appeared in the depression, but it can be improved by laser track overlapping. With the increase of laser power density, the amount of TiB short fiber was increased, and the distribution of TiB2 and TiB became more uniform from the top to bottom. The micro-hardness of TiB2/TiB coating showed a gradient decreasing trend, and the average micro-hardness of the coatings was two-fold higher than that of the substrate. Due to the strengthening effect of TiB2 particle and TiB short fiber, the wear volume loss of the center of the coating was approximately 30% less than that of the Ti–6Al–4V substrate, and the wear mechanism of the coating was mild fatigue particle detachment.  相似文献

Ni-Fe-B-Si-Nb coatings have been deposited on mild steel substrates using high power laser cladding process followed by laser remelting. The influence of Ni-to-Fe concentration ratio in (Ni100−xFex)62B18Si18Nb2 (x = 55, 50, 45 and 40) powders on the phase composition and microstructure is analyzed by X-ray diffraction, scanning- and transmission-electron microscopies. The microhardness and corrosion resistance properties of the coatings are also measured. The results reveal that amorphous matrix layers are obtained for all coatings. The increase of the Ni-to-Fe ratio can promote the formation of γ(Fe-Ni) phase and decrease the formation of Fe2B phase and α-Fe phase. The coating with 1:1 ratio of Ni-to-Fe exhibits the highest microhardness of 1200 HV0.5 and superior corrosion resistance property due to its largest volume fraction of amorphous phase in the coating. Higher or lower than 1:1 ratio of Ni-to-Fe may result in lower amorphous forming ability. However, even that the coating with ratio of 3:2, shows a minimum of microhardness, it shows a better corrosion resistance than other two coatings.  相似文献

A new process of preparing Ti-Fe-C composites powder for reactive plasma cladding, precursor carbonization-composition process, was developed. TiC/Fe cermet coatings were synthesized by reactive plasma cladding of the composite powder. XRD and SEM were employed to analyze the phase composition and microstructure of the composite powder and coating. The hardness and wear resistance of the coating was tested. Results show that: The compound powder prepared by precursor carbonization-composition process has very tight structure, which can avert the question of raw powder breaking-up in cladding process. The TiC/Fe cermet coating by reactive plasma cladding consists of alternate, laminated layers as following: the layers in which the round nanoscale TiC particles are dispersed within the α-Fe matrix and the layers of TiC accumulation. The TiC/Fe cermet coating by reactive plasma cladding shows superior hardness and wear resistance: The surface hardness of the TiC/Fe cermet coating is 68 ± 6 (HR30 N). In the same fretting conditions, the wear resistance of Ni60 coating is twelve times than that of the TiC/Fe cermet coating.  相似文献
