Two pure light rare earth iron garnets Pr3Fe5O12 and Nd3Fe5O12 single crystals were synthesized under mild hydrothermal conditions and structurally characterized by single crystal and powder X-ray diffraction methods. Both compounds crystallize in cubic space group Ia3?d with lattice parameters a=12.670(2) Å for Pr3Fe5O12 and a=12.633(2) Å for Nd3Fe5O12, respectively. The synthesis of compounds was studied with regard to phase evolution and morphology development with hydrothermal conditions. We proposed the formation mechanisms and formulated a reasonable explanation for their growth habits. Ferrimagnetic Curie temperatures which have been inferred from thermo-magnetization curves were 580 K for Pr3Fe5O12 and 565 K for Nd3Fe5O12, and the transitions of long range order were also evidenced by differential scanning calorimetry method. The result of magnetic properties has shown that moments of the large radius Pr3+ and Nd3+ ions are parallelly coupled with net moments of iron ions.  相似文献

The cell constants of four new monoclinic compounds BaR4X5O17 (R = Y, Gd; X = Si, Ge) are given. The luminescence of various RE activators in the silicates is reported. Pr3+-activated BaY4Si5O17 shows efficient ultraviolet 5d → 4f emission and weak 4f → 4f emission (mainly red luminescence from the 1D2 level). The 5d → 4f emission is ascribed to Pr3+ on Y sites, the 4f → 4f emission to Pr3+ on Ba sites. Energy transfer from Pr3+ to Gd3+ has been observed. Gd3+ plays an intermediate role in the energy transfer from Pr3+ to Sm3+ and to Dy3+ in BaGd4Si5O17. Upon activation with Tb3+ the silicates show characteristic green Tb3+ luminescence with a quantum efficiency of 75% for ultraviolet excitation.  相似文献

Uniform and sphere-like nanoparticles of crystalline Pr3+-doped CaTiO3 have been prepared from complex polymer precursor at 600°C, in which, metal atoms are previously dispersed by citric acid in ethylene glycol solvent. The decomposition process of the precursor, crystallization, and particle sizes of CaTiO3 have been investigated by using thermal analysis, powder X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. Diffuse reflectance spectra, photoluminescence and decay curve indicate that a strong red emission located at the nearly NTCS “ideal red” site is deduced from the energy transfer from the band gap absorption to doping Pr3+ ions. The thermoluminescence curves exhibit that a potential long phosphorescent material based on Pr3+-doped CaTiO3 will be explored in future.  相似文献

Pr3+-doped perovskites R1/2Na1/2TiO3:Pr (R=La, Gd, Lu, and Y) were synthesized, and their structures, optical absorption and luminescent properties were investigated, and the relationship between structures and optical properties are discussed. Optical band gap of R1/2Na1/2TiO3 increases in the order R=La, Gd, Y, and Lu, which is primarily due to a decrease in band width accompanied by a decrease in Ti-O-Ti bond angle. Intense red emission assigned to f-f transition of Pr3+ from the excited 1D2 level to the ground 3H4 state upon the band gap photo-excitation (UV) was observed for all compounds. The wavelength of emission peaks was red-shifted in the order R=La, Gd, Y, and Lu, which originates from the increase in crystal field splitting of Pr3+. This is attributed to the decrease in inter-atomic distances of Pr-O together with the inter-atomic distances (R, Na)-O, i.e., increase in covalency between Pr and O. The results indicate that the luminescent properties in R1/2Na1/2TiO3:Pr are governed by the relative energy level between the ground and excited state of 4f2 for Pr3+, and the conduction and valence band, which is primarily dependent on the structure, e.g., the tilt of TiO6 octahedra and the Pr-Ti inter-atomic distance and the site symmetry of Pr ion.  相似文献

We have measured the optical absorption below the fundamental threshold, the normal-incidence reflectivity between 1.5 and 30 eV and the X-ray photoemission spectra of NiPS3. Shake-up satellites present at the Ni 2p and 3p core levels are strong evidence for the ionicity of the NiS bonds. We have also derived a qualitative molecular orbital model of NiPS3 in which the trigonal crystal field splits the P and S 3pxpy-3pa states, and strong covalent hybridization between P and S pxpy orbitals leads to covalent electronic bonding. Ni is envisaged as a divalent ion which plays little role in the electronic bonding and its 3d levels are localized, lying near the top both of the valence states. This model accounts well for both the valence band XPS data and the low energy optical transitions. Our model should represent, at the center of the Brillouin zone but not at the boundaries, the energy level sequence in NiPS3 and other related MPX3 layer-type compounds where M Co2+, Mn2+, Fe2+, Zn2+ and X is sulfur or selenium.The XPS spectra and optical properties of NiPS3 have been obtained and interpreted on a qualitative molecular orbital model in which the Ni is a divalent positive ion which plays little role in the bonding. Evidence for such ionicity appears in the optical properties and XPS satellite structures, as well as in the magnetic properties. The model should represent qualitatively the band structure at the center of the Brillouin zone, but not at the boundaries. It should also be valid for other compounds similar to NiPS3, i.e. those with other metals in place of Ni and those with Se in place of S.  相似文献

Several CaF2 single crystals doped with trivalent rare-earth ions have been grown in the recent years in the form of bulk crystals by using the Bridgman method and in the form of thin films by using the MBE and LPE techniques. The spectroscopic, gain and laser properties of these crystals doped with Pr3+, on the one hand, and with Yb3+, Tm3+ or Er3+ ions, on the other hand, have been studied and are reviewed here for their laser potentials in the red and in the infrared spectral domains, respectively.  相似文献

The structures of eight members of the series of double perovskites of the type Ba2LnB′O6 (Ln=La3+-Sm3+ and Y3+ and B′=Nb5+ and Ta5+) were examined both above and below room temperature using synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction. The La3+ and Pr3+ containing compounds had an intermediate rhombohedral phase whereas the other tantalates and niobates studied have a tetragonal intermediate. This difference in symmetry appears to be a consequence of the larger size of the La3+ and Pr3+ cations compared to the other lanthanides. The temperature range over which the intermediate symmetry is stable is reduced in those compounds near the point where the preferred intermediate symmetry changes from tetragonal to rhombohedral. In such compounds the transition to the cubic phase involves higher order terms in the Landau expression. This suggests that in this region the stability of the two intermediate phases is similar.  相似文献

The spectroscopic properties in VUV-Vis range for the eulytite structural phosphors Sr3Gd(PO4)3:Ln3+ (Ln3+=Ce3+, Pr3+, Tb3+), Sr3Ce(PO4)3, Sr3Gd(PO4)3 and Sr3Tb(PO4)3 were investigated. The bands near 170 nm in VUV excitation spectra are assumed to connect with the host lattices related absorption. The f-d transitions of Ce3+, Pr3+ and Tb3+ in the host lattices are assigned and corroborated. A convenient experiment formulation on the relationship between the lowest f-d transition energies and n value for trivalent 4fn-series rare earth ions in these host lattices is applied.  相似文献

In this report, the Cr3+ ion was chosen as a co-dopant to modify the unpractical photon cascade emission properties of Pr3+-doped CaAl12O19 phosphors, which emit one near-UV photon from the 1S0 state followed by visible photons from the 3P0 state, into phosphors that emits two visible photons through energy transfer. The photon cascade emission process via energy transfer and the transfer mechanisms were systemically investigated by luminescence spectra and dynamics using synchrotron radiation as one of the excitation sources. The internal visible quantum efficiency of CaAl12O19:Pr, Cr was estimated and compared with CaAl12O19:Pr and the drawback to obtain the visible quantum efficiency higher than unit for CaAl12O19:Pr, Cr as a practical VUV phosphor was also discussed.  相似文献

The title compound has been prepared as polycrystalline powder by thermal treatments of mixtures of Pr6O11 and MoO2 in air. In the literature, an oxide with a composition Pr2MoO6 has been formerly described to present interesting catalytic properties, but its true stoichiometry and crystal structure are reported here for the first time. It is cubic, isostructural with CdTm4Mo3O16 (space group Pn-3n, Z=8), with a=11.0897(1) Å. The structure contains MoO4 tetrahedral units, with Mo-O distances of 1.788(2) Å, fully long-range ordered with PrO8 polyhedra; in fact it can be considered as a superstructure of fluorite (M8O16), containing 32 MO2 fluorite formulae per unit cell, with a lattice parameter related to that of cubic fluorite (af=5.5 Å) as a≈2af. A bond valence study indicates that Mo exhibits a mixed oxidation state between 5+ and 6+ (perhaps accounting for the excellent catalytic properties). One kind of Pr atoms is trivalent whereas the second presents a mixed Pr3+-Pr4+ oxidation state. The similarity of the XRD pattern with that published for Ce2MoO6 suggests that this compound also belongs to the same structural type, with an actual stoichiometry Ce5Mo3O16.  相似文献

Red emitting phosphors of CaTiO3:Pr3+ nanoparticles with size ranging from 6 to 95 nm have been prepared by a coprecipitation technique and structurally characterized by X-ray diffraction, energy dispersive spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy. The fluorescence and phosphorescence of CaTiO3:Pr3+ nanoparticles as a function of annealing temperature are investigated. It is found that fluorescence intensities monotonously increase with increasing temperature. However, a maximum in phosphorescence with the increase of annealing temperature occurs for the sample prepared at 700 °C. Based on the measurement of fluorescence emission, fluorescence excitation and reflectance spectra as well as time decay patterns of fluorescence and phosphorescence, it is demonstrated that the dependence of fluorescence and phosphorescence on annealing temperature originates from the decrease of surface defects with the increase of temperature.  相似文献

CaIn2O4:Dy3+/Pr3+/Tb3+ blue-white/green/green phosphors were prepared by the Pechini sol-gel process. X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), diffuse reflectance, photoluminescence (PL) and cathodoluminescence (CL) spectra as well as lifetimes were utilized to characterize the samples. The XRD results reveal that the samples begin to crystallize at 800 °C and pure CaIn2O4 phase can be obtained after annealing at 900 °C. The FE-SEM images indicate that the CaIn2O4:Dy3+, CaIn2O4:Pr3+ and CaIn2O4:Tb3+ samples consist of spherical grains with size around 200-400 nm. Under the excitation of ultraviolet light and low-voltage electron beams (1-5 kV), the CaIn2O4:Dy3+, CaIn2O4:Pr3+ and CaIn2O4:Tb3+ phosphors show the characteristic emissions of Dy3+ (4F9/2-6H15/2 and 4F9/2-6H13/2 transitions, blue-white), Pr3+ (3P0-3H4, 1D2-3H4 and 3P1-3H5 transitions, green) and Tb3+ (5D4-7F6,5,4,3 transitions, green), respectively. All the luminescence is resulted from an efficient energy transfer from the CaIn2O4 host lattice to the doped Dy3+, Pr3+ and Tb3+ ions, and the corresponding luminescence mechanisms have been proposed.  相似文献

Simultaneous measurements of oxygen pressure, composition, and electrical conductivity have been conducted in Pr10O18±x (epsilon) and PrO2?x (alpha) phases, between Pr9O16±x (zeta) and Pr10O18±x phases, and between Pr7O12±x (iota) and PrO2?x phases. In Pr10O18±x phase, the predominant defects are assigned to be neutral oxygen interstitials and neutral or doubly charged oxygen vacancies, and electrical conduction is thought to be governed mainly by the concentration of 7-coordinated praseodymium ions, which are the easiest sites for hopping electrons between Pr3+ and Pr4+ ions. In PrO2?x phase, the electrical conductivity increases with oxygen pressure and the OPr ratio and the predominant defects are assigned to be neutral oxygen interstitials, indicating that oxygen vacancies are ordered in a short range and this phase is expressed by PrO1.78+x rather than PrO2?x in the region measured. The electrical conductivity-composition measurement, as well as the oxygen pressure-composition measurement, shows a reproducible hysteresis loop between Pr9O16±x and Pr10O18±x and it is discussed in terms of a domain model.  相似文献

The luminescence properties of Eu2+, Sn2+, and Pb2+ in SrB6O10 have been studied both at room-temperature and liquid-helium temperature and the decay times of Sn2+ and Pb2+ in this matrix have been measured and analyzed. According to the emission spectrum of Eu2+ there seems to be three different cation sites in SrB6O10. Europium, tin, and lead were also used as sensitizers for Mn2+ and the energy transfer processes were characterized. Eu2+-Mn2+ energy transfer was inefficient due to the transfer within different Eu2+ centers. The sensitization action of Sn2+ and Pb2+ on Mn2+ was different because lead-lead energy transfer occurs (even at 4.2 K) but tin-tin transfer can be neglected. A fast diffusion model for the Pb2+ system is suggested.  相似文献

LiPrP4O12 single crystals are synthetized and studied by both, optical absorption and emission spectroscopy. The processes leading to the depopulation of the 3P0 and 1D2 excited states of Pr3+ are analyzed on the basis of experimental data and the Judd-Ofelt theory. From the analysis of the fluorescence spectra of Pr3+ ions two unequivalent positions in LiPrP4O12 crystal were concluded.  相似文献

Photon-echo quantum beats observed in the two-pulse and three-pulse photon echo of the 3P03H4 transition in Pr3+/LaF3 were used to determine the excited-state spin-hamiltonian. The structural and magnetic properties of the Pr1?xMn1+xO3 perovskites were studied. The increase of x (i.e., PrMn < 1) leads to the decrease of the orthorhombic deformation and of the Néel temperature and, simultaneously, to an increase of the ferromagnetic contribution. The latter effect is explained from the suggested distribution of the cations (Pr3+1?xMn2+x)A(Mn3+1?xMn4+x)O2?3 by the double exchange of Mn3+Mn4+ pairs at the B—sublattice.  相似文献

The optical properties of the BaMgAl10O17:Eu2+ (BAM)-Ba0.75Al11O17.25:Eu2+ (BAL) solid solution have been studied using VUV excitation, emission and reflectance spectroscopy. Three unique Eu2+ emission centers are observed in a ratio that depends on the composition of the host and the dopant concentration. Two of the emission centers are assigned to Eu on normal Beevers-Ross sites and Eu on anti Beevers-Ross sites. The defect chemistry of this system is modeled based on the known behavior of the spinel (MgO·nAl2O3) system. Based on this model, the third Eu center can be assigned either to Eu near Al vacancies or to Eu associated with O atoms in the cation layer. In undoped materials exciton emission is observed, peaking at 263 nm in BAM and 285 nm in BAL. This emission may be the mechanism of host-to-activator energy transfer in these phosphors.  相似文献

We have investigated properties of the compound LuAlO3:Ce3+ associated with the Ce3+ 4f-5d transition by using the periodic density functional theory. A hybrid functional has been used for the 4f states and a constrained approach has been employed for the excited 5d state. It is found that the average distance between Ce3+ and the eight nearest-neighbor O atoms decrease by 0.05 ?on going from 4f to 5d state. The calculated Stokes shift is in good agreement with experiment. Based on the optimized structure around Ce3+, the energy level scheme of the 5d states has been evaluated using the angular overlap model, in reasonable agreement with experiment.  相似文献
