Order-sharp estimates are established for the best N-term approximations of functions from Nikol’skii–Besov type classes Bpqsm(Tk) with respect to the multiple trigonometric system T(k) in the metric of Lr(Tk) for a number of relations between the parameters s, p, q, r, and m (s = (s1,..., sn) ∈ R+n, 1 ≤ p, q, r ≤ ∞, m = (m1,..., mn) ∈ Nn, k = m1 +... + mn). A subgroup H of a group G is pronormal if the subgroups H and H g are conjugate in 〈H,H g 〉 for every gG. It was conjectured in [1] that a subgroup of a finite simple group having odd index is always pronormal. Recently the authors [2] verified this conjecture for all finite simple groups other than PSL n (q), PSU n (q), E 6(q), 2 E 6(q), where in all cases q is odd and n is not a power of 2, and P Sp2n (q), where q ≡ ±3 (mod 8). However in [3] the authors proved that when q ≡ ±3 (mod 8) and n ≡ 0 (mod 3), the simple symplectic group P Sp2n (q) has a nonpronormal subgroup of odd index, thereby refuted the conjecture on pronormality of subgroups of odd index in finite simple groups.The natural extension of this conjecture is the problem of classifying finite nonabelian simple groups in which every subgroup of odd index is pronormal. In this paper we continue to study this problem for the simple symplectic groups P Sp2n (q) with q ≡ ±3 (mod 8) (if the last condition is not satisfied, then subgroups of odd index are pronormal). We prove that whenever n is not of the form 2 m or 2 m (22k +1), this group has a nonpronormal subgroup of odd index. If n = 2 m , then we show that all subgroups of P Sp2n (q) of odd index are pronormal. The question of pronormality of subgroups of odd index in P Sp2n (q) is still open when n = 2 m (22k + 1) and q ≡ ±3 (mod 8).  相似文献

We study the blow-up and/or global existence of the following p-Laplacian evolution equation with variable source power

where Ω is either a bounded domain or the whole space ? N , q(x) is a positive and continuous function defined in Ω with 0 < q ? = inf q(x) ? q(x) ? sup q(x) = q+ < ∞. It is demonstrated that the equation with variable source power has much richer dynamics with interesting phenomena which depends on the interplay of q(x) and the structure of spatial domain Ω, compared with the case of constant source power. For the case that Ω is a bounded domain, the exponent p ? 1 plays a crucial role. If q+ > p ? 1, there exist blow-up solutions, while if q + < p ? 1, all the solutions are global. If q ? > p ? 1, there exist global solutions, while for given q ? < p ? 1 < q +, there exist some function q(x) and Ω such that all nontrivial solutions will blow up, which is called the Fujita phenomenon. For the case Ω = ? N , the Fujita phenomenon occurs if 1 < q ? ? q + ? p ? 1 + p/N, while if q ? > p ? 1 + p/N, there exist global solutions.

The paper discusses the asymptotic depth of a reversible circuits consisting of NOT, CNOT and 2-CNOT gates. The reversible circuit depth function D(n, q) is introduced for a circuit implementing a mapping f: Z2n → Z2n as a function of n and the number q of additional inputs. It is proved that for the case of implementation of a permutation from A(Z2n) with a reversible circuit having no additional inputs the depth is bounded as D(n, 0) ? 2n/(3log2n). It is also proved that for the case of transformation f: Z2n → Z2n with a reversible circuit having q0 ~ 2n additional inputs the depth is bounded as D(n,q0) ? 3n.  相似文献

Let (M m , T) be a smooth involution on a closed smooth m-dimensional manifold and F = ∪ j=0 n F j (nm) its fixed point set, where F j denotes the union of those components of F having dimension j. The famous Five Halves Theorem of J. Boardman, announced in 1967, establishes that, if F is nonbounding, then m ≤ 5/2n. In this paper we obtain an improvement of the Five Halves Theorem when the top dimensional component of F, F n , is nonbounding. Specifically, let ω = (i 1, i 2, …, i r ) be a non-dyadic partition of n and s ω (x 1, x 2, …, x n ) the smallest symmetric polynomial over Z 2 on degree one variables x 1, x 2, …, x n containing the monomial \(x_1^{i_1 } x_2^{i_2 } \cdots x_r^{i_r }\). Write s ω (F n ) ∈ H n (F n , Z 2) for the usual cohomology class corresponding to s ω (x 1, x 2, …, x n ), and denote by ?(F n ) the minimum length of a nondyadic partition ω with s ω (F n ) ≠ 0 (here, the length of ω = (i 1, i 2, …, i r ) is r). We will prove that, if (M m , T) is an involution for which the top dimensional component of the fixed point set, F n , is nonbounding, then m ≤ 2n + ?(F n ); roughly speaking, the bound for m depends on the degree of decomposability of the top dimensional component of the fixed point set. Let ASG(2ν + l, ν;F q ) be the (2ν + l)-dimensional affine-singular symplectic space over the finite field F q and ASp2ν+l,ν (F q ) be the affine-singular symplectic group of degree 2ν + l over F q . Let O be any orbit of flats under ASp2ν+l,ν (F q ). Denote by L J the set of all flats which are joins of flats in O such that O ? L J and assume the join of the empty set of flats in ASG(2ν + l, ν;F q ) is ?. Ordering L J by ordinary or reverse inclusion, then two lattices are obtained. This paper firstly studies the inclusion relations between different lattices, then determines a characterization of flats contained in a given lattice L J , when the lattices form geometric lattice, lastly gives the characteristic polynomial of L J .  相似文献

Let F be a holomorphic foliation on Pn by curves such that the components of its singular locus are curves Ci and points pj. We compute the Baum-Bott indices BBφ(F, Ci) in terms of the main invariants of F and Ci. We also determine the sum of the BBφ(F, pi) in terms of the same invariants.When φ corresponds to the determinant, the latter result generalizes, from special to all holomorphic foliations, a formula for the number of isolated singularities of F, counted with multiplicities.  相似文献

Consider the set of all proper edge-colourings of a graph G with n colours. Among all such colourings, the minimum length of a longest two-coloured cycle is denoted L(n, G). The problem of understanding L(n, G) was posed by Häggkvist in 1978 and, specifically, L(n, K n,n ) has received recent attention. Here we construct, for each prime power q ≥ 8, an edge-colouring of K n,n with n colours having all two-coloured cycles of length ≤ 2q 2, for integers n in a set of density 1 ? 3/(q ? 1). One consequence is that L(n, K n,n ) is bounded above by a polylogarithmic function of n, whereas the best known general upper bound was previously 2n ? 4.  相似文献

For the quantum symplectic group SP q (2n), we describe the C ?-algebra of continuous functions on the quotient space S P q (2n)/S P q (2n?2) as an universal C ?-algebra given by a finite set of generators and relations. The proof involves a careful analysis of the relations, and use of the branching rules for representations of the symplectic group due to Zhelobenko. We then exhibit a set of generators of the K-groups of this C ?-algebra in terms of generators of the C ?-algebra.  相似文献

We show that the Erdös-Kac theorem for additive arithmetical semigroups can be proved under the condition that the counting function of elements has the asymptotics G(n) = q n (A + O(1/(lnn)k) as n → ∞ with A > 0, q > 1, and arbitrary k ∈ ? and that P(n) = O(q n /n) for the number of prime elements of degree n.
