We study the structure induced by the number of periodic solutions on the set of differential equations x=f(t,x) where fC3(R2) is T-periodic in t, fx3(t,x)<0 for every (t,x)∈R2, and f(t,x)→?∞ as x→∞, uniformly on t. We find that the set of differential equations with a singular periodic solution is a codimension-one submanifold, which divides the space into two components: equations with one periodic solution and equations with three periodic solutions. Moreover, the set of differential equations with exactly one periodic singular solution and no other periodic solution is a codimension-two submanifold.  相似文献

In the present paper we will introduce a new approach to multivariate interpolation by employing polyharmonic functions as interpolants, i.e. by solutions of higher order elliptic equations. We assume that the data arise from C or analytic functions in the ball BR. We prove two main results on the interpolation of C or analytic functions f in the ball BR by polyharmonic functions h of a given order of polyharmonicity p.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the regularizing effect of a non-local operator on first-order Hamilton-Jacobi equations. We prove that there exists a unique solution that is C2 in space and C1 in time. In order to do so, we combine viscosity solution techniques and Green's function techniques. Viscosity solution theory provides the existence of a W1,∞ solution as well as uniqueness and stability results. A Duhamel's integral representation of the equation involving the Green's function permits to prove further regularity. We also state the existence of C solutions (in space and time) under suitable assumptions on the Hamiltonian. We finally give an error estimate in L norm between the viscosity solution of the pure Hamilton-Jacobi equation and the solution of the integro-differential equation with a vanishing non-local part.  相似文献

This paper aims at the global regularity of classical solutions to the 2D Boussinesq equations with vertical dissipation and vertical thermal diffusion. We prove that the Lr-norm of the vertical velocity v for any 1<r<∞ is globally bounded and that the L-norm of v controls any possible breakdown of classical solutions. In addition, we show that an extra thermal diffusion given by the fractional Laplace δ(−Δ) for δ>0 would guarantee the global regularity of classical solutions.  相似文献

We consider the Allen-Cahn equation in Rn (with n?2) and study how a planar front behaves when arbitrarily large (but bounded) perturbation is given near the front region. We first show that the behavior of the disturbed front can be approximated by that of the mean curvature flow with a drift term for all large time up to t=+∞. Using this observation, we then show that the planar front is asymptotically stable in L(Rn) under spatially ergodic perturbations, which include quasi-periodic and almost periodic ones as special cases. As a by-product of our analysis, we present a result of a rather general nature, which states that, for a large class of evolution equations, the unique ergodicity of the initial data is inherited by the solution at any later time.  相似文献

We give a constructive proof of existence to oscillatory solutions for the differential equations x(t)+a(t)λ|x(t)|sign[x(t)]=e(t), where t?t0?1 and λ>1, that decay to 0 when t→+∞ as O(tμ) for μ>0 as close as desired to the “critical quantity” . For this class of equations, we have limt→+∞E(t)=0, where E(t)<0 and E(t)=e(t) throughout [t0,+∞). We also establish that for any μ>μ? and any negative-valued E(t)=o(tμ) as t→+∞ the differential equation has a negative-valued solution decaying to 0 at + ∞ as o(tμ). In this way, we are not in the reach of any of the developments from the recent paper [C.H. Ou, J.S.W. Wong, Forced oscillation of nth-order functional differential equations, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 262 (2001) 722-732].  相似文献

We present an approach for the resolution of a class of differential equations with state-dependent delays by the theory of strongly continuous nonlinear semigroups. We show that this class determines a strongly continuous semigroup in a closed subset of C0, 1. We characterize the infinitesimal generator of this semigroup through its domain. Finally, an approximation of the Crandall-Liggett type for the semigroup is obtained in a dense subset of (C, ‖·‖). As far as we know this approach is new in the context of state-dependent delay equations while it is classical in the case of constant delay differential equations.  相似文献

For a metric space X, we study the space D(X) of bounded functions on X whose pointwise Lipschitz constant is uniformly bounded. D(X) is compared with the space LIP(X) of bounded Lipschitz functions on X, in terms of different properties regarding the geometry of X. We also obtain a Banach-Stone theorem in this context. In the case of a metric measure space, we also compare D(X) with the Newtonian-Sobolev space N1,∞(X). In particular, if X supports a doubling measure and satisfies a local Poincaré inequality, we obtain that D(X)=N1,∞(X).  相似文献

We consider the nonlinear parabolic partial differential equations. We construct a discontinuous Galerkin approximation using a penalty term and obtain an optimal L(L2) error estimate.  相似文献

The goal of this article is to study the boundary layer of wall bounded flows in a channel at small viscosity when the boundaries are uniformly noncharacteristic, i.e., there is injection and/or suction everywhere at the boundary. Following earlier work on the boundary layer for linearized Navier-Stokes equations in the case where the boundaries are characteristic (no-slip at the boundary and non-permeable), we consider here the case where the boundary is permeable and thus noncharacteristic. The form of the boundary layer and convergence results are derived in two cases: linearized equation and full nonlinear equations. We prove that there exists a boundary layer at the outlet (downwind) of the form eUz/ε where U is the speed of injection/suction at the boundary, z is the distance to the outlet of the channel, and ε is the kinematic viscosity. We improve an earlier result of S. N. Alekseenko (1994, Siberian Math. J.35, No. 2, 209-230) where the convergence in L2 of the solutions of the Navier-Stokes equations to that of the Euler equations at vanishing viscosity was established. In the two dimensional case we are able to derive the physically relevant uniform in space (L norm) estimates of the boundary layer. The uniform in space estimate is derived by properly developing our previous idea of better control on the tangential derivative and the use of an anisotropic Sobolev imbedding. To the best of our knowledge this is the first rigorously proved result concerning boundary layers for the full (nonlinear) Navier-Stokes equations for incompressible fluids.  相似文献

We introduce a bound M of f, ‖f?M?2‖f, which allows us to give for 0?p<∞ sharp upper bounds, and for −∞<p<0 sharp lower bounds for the average of |f|p over E if the average of f over E is zero. As an application we give a new proof of Grüss's inequality estimating the covariance of two random variables. We also give a new estimate for the error term in the trapezoidal rule.  相似文献

We generalize Abrahamse's interpolation theorem from the setting of a multiply connected domain to that of a more general Riemann surface. Our main result provides the scalar-valued interpolation theorem for the fixed-point subalgebra of H associated to the action of a Fuchsian group. We rely on two results from a paper of Forelli. This allows us to prove the interpolation result using duality techniques that parallel Sarason's approach to the interpolation problem for H [Donald Sarason, Generalized interpolation in H, Trans. Amer. Math. Soc. 127 (1967) 179-203, MR0208383. [26]]. In this process we prove a more general distance formula, very much like Nehari's theorem, and obtain relations between the kernel function for the character automorphic Hardy spaces and the Szegö kernel for the disk. Finally, we examine our interpolation results in the context of the two simplest examples of Fuchsian groups acting on the disk.  相似文献

By introducing a stress multiplier we derive a family of Burgers-like equations. We investigate the blow-up phenomena of the equations both on the real line R and on the circle S to get a comparison with the Degasperis-Procesi equation. On the line R, we first establish the local well-posedness and the blow-up scenario. Then we use conservation laws of the equations to get the estimate for the L-norm of the strong solutions, by which we prove that the solutions to the equations may blow up in the form of wave breaking for certain initial profiles. Analogous results are provided in the periodic case. Especially, we find differences between the Burgers-like equations and the Degasperis-Procesi equation, see Remark 4.1.  相似文献

We are concerned with entropy solutions of the 2×2 relativistic Euler equations for perfect fluids in special relativity. We establish the uniqueness of Riemann solutions in the class of entropy solutions in LBVloc with arbitrarily large oscillation. Our proof for solutions with large oscillation is based on a detailed analysis of global behavior of shock curves in the phase space and on special features of centered rarefaction waves in the physical plane for this system. The uniqueness result does not require specific reference to any particular method for constructing the entropy solutions. Then the uniqueness of Riemann solutions yields their inviscid large-time stability under arbitrarily largeL1LBVloc perturbation of the Riemann initial data, as long as the corresponding solutions are in L and have local bounded total variation that allows the linear growth in time. We also extend our approach to deal with the uniqueness and stability of Riemann solutions containing vacuum in the class of entropy solutions in L with arbitrarily large oscillation.  相似文献

We consider a nonlinear system of two-dimensional Klein-Gordon equations with masses m1, m2 satisfying the resonance relation m2=2m1>0. We introduce a structural condition on the nonlinearities under which the solution exists globally in time and decays at the rate O(|t|−1) as t→±∞ in L. In particular, our new condition includes the Yukawa type interaction, which has been excluded from the null condition in the sense of J.-M. Delort, D. Fang and R. Xue [J.-M. Delort, D. Fang, R. Xue, Global existence of small solutions for quadratic quasilinear Klein-Gordon systems in two space dimensions, J. Funct. Anal. 211 (2004) 288-323].  相似文献

In this paper we consider the Cauchy problem of semilinear parabolic equations with nonlinear gradient terms a(x)|u|q−1u|u|p. We prove the existence of global solutions and self-similar solutions for small initial data. Moreover, for a class of initial data we show that the global solutions behave asymptotically like self-similar solutions as t.  相似文献

We prove that, for n?4, there are C nonnegative functions f of n variables (and even flat ones for n?5) which are not a finite sum of squares of C2 functions. For n=1, where a decomposition in a sum of two squares is always possible, we investigate the possibility of writing f=g2. We prove that, in general, one cannot require a better regularity than gC1. Assuming that f vanishes at all its local minima, we prove that it is possible to get gC2 but that one cannot require any additional regularity.  相似文献

We obtain a strong solution in charge critical space L2(R) of the Thirring system and Federbusch equations in one space dimension by using solution representation of the models. The uniqueness is obtained for the solution ΨL([0,T];L2(R)∩L4(R)). A decay of local charge and asymptotic behavior of the field can be shown directly.  相似文献

In this paper we relate the operators in the operator representations of a generalized Nevanlinna function N(z) and of the function −N(z)−1 under the assumption that z=∞ is the only (generalized) pole of nonpositive type. The results are applied to the Q-function for S and H and the Q-function for S and H, where H is a self-adjoint operator in a Pontryagin space with a cyclic element w, H is the self-adjoint relation obtained from H and w via a rank one perturbation at infinite coupling, and S is the symmetric operator given by S=HH.  相似文献
