Let SB(X,Y) be the set of the bounded sublinear operators from a Banach space X into a Banach lattice Y. Consider π2(X,Y) the set of 2-summing sublinear operators. We study in this paper a variation of Grothendieck's theorem in the sublinear operators case. We prove under some conditions that every operator in SB(C(K),H) is in π2(C(K),H) for any compact K and any Hilbert H. In the noncommutative case the problem is still open.  相似文献

We consider a two-echelon inventory system with a number of non-identical, independent ‘retailers’ at the lower echelon and a single ‘supplier’ at the upper echelon. Each retailer experiences Poisson demand and operates a base stock policy with backorders. The supplier manufactures to order and holds no stock. Orders are produced, in first-come first-served sequence, with a fixed production time. The supplier therefore functions as an M/D/1 queue. We are interested in the performance characteristics (average inventory, average backorder level) at each retailer. By finding the distribution of order lead time and hence the distribution of demand during order lead time, we find the steady state inventory and backorder levels based on the assumption that order lead times are independent of demand during order lead time at a retailer. We also propose two alternative approximation procedures based on assumed forms for the order lead time distribution. Finally we provide a derivation of the steady state inventory and backorder levels which will be exact as long as there is no transportation time on orders between the supplier and retailers. A numerical comparison is made between the exact and approximate measures. We conclude by recommending an approach which is intuitive and computationally straightforward.  相似文献

In recent papers (cf. [J.L. Arregui, O. Blasco, (p,q)-Summing sequences, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 274 (2002) 812-827; J.L. Arregui, O. Blasco, (p,q)-Summing sequences of operators, Quaest. Röntgen, Banach space sequences and projective tensor products, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 277 (2) (2003) 629-644]) the concept of (p,q)-summing multiplier was considered in both general and special context. It has been shown that some geometric properties of Banach spaces and some classical theorems can be described using spaces of (p,q)-summing multipliers. The present paper is a continuation of this study, whereby multiplier spaces for some classical Banach spaces are considered. The scope of this research is also broadened, by studying other classes of summing multipliers. Let E(X) and F(Y) be two Banach spaces whose elements are sequences of vectors in X and Y, respectively, and which contain the spaces c00(X) and c00(Y) of all X-valued and Y-valued sequences which are eventually zero, respectively. Generally spoken, a sequence of bounded linear operators (un)⊂L(X,Y) is called a multiplier sequence from E(X) to F(Y) if the linear operator from c00(X) into c00(Y) which maps (xi)∈c00(X) onto (unxn)∈c00(Y) is bounded with respect to the norms on E(X) and F(Y), respectively. Several cases where E(X) and F(Y) are different (classical) spaces of sequences, including, for instance, the spaces Rad(X) of almost unconditionally summable sequences in X, are considered. Several examples, properties and relations among spaces of summing multipliers are discussed. Important concepts like R-bounded, semi-R-bounded and weak-R-bounded from recent papers are also considered in this context.  相似文献

Suppose that c(x, y) is the cost of transporting a unit of mass from xX to yY and suppose that a mass distribution μ on X is transported optimally (so that the total cost of transportation is minimal) to the mass distribution ν on Y. Then, roughly speaking, the Kantorovich duality theorem asserts that there is a price f(x) for a unit of mass sold (say by the producer to the distributor) at x and a price g(y) for a unit of mass sold (say by the distributor to the end consumer) at y such that for any xX and yY, the price difference g(y) ? f(x) is not greater than the cost of transportation c(x, y) and such that there is equality g(y) ? f(x) = c(x, y) if indeed a nonzero mass was transported (via the optimal transportation plan) from x to y. We consider the following optimal pricing problem: suppose that a new pricing policy is to be determined while keeping a part of the optimal transportation plan fixed and, in addition, some prices at the sources of this part are also kept fixed. From the producers’ side, what would then be the highest compatible pricing policy possible? From the consumers’ side, what would then be the lowest compatible pricing policy possible? We have recently introduced and studied settings in c-convexity theory which gave rise to families of c-convex c-antiderivatives, and, in particular, we established the existence of optimal c-convex c-antiderivatives and explicit constructions of these optimizers were presented. In applications, it has turned out that this is a unifying language for phenomena in analysis which used to be considered quite apart. In the present paper we employ optimal c-convex c-antiderivatives and conclude that these are natural solutions to the optimal pricing problems mentioned above. This type of problems drew attention in the past and existence results were previously established in the case where X = Y = ? n under various specifications. We solve the above problem for general spaces X, Y and real-valued, lower semicontinuous cost functions c. Furthermore, an explicit construction of solutions to the general problem is presented.  相似文献

Let T(X) be the full transformation semigroup on the set X and let T(X,Y) be the semigroup consisting of all total transformations from X into a fixed subset Y of X. It is known that $$F(X, Y)=\{\alpha\in T(X, Y): X\alpha\subseteq Y\alpha\},$$ is the largest regular subsemigroup of T(X,Y) and determines Green??s relations on T(X,Y). In this paper, we show that F(X,Y)?T(Z) if and only if X=Y and |Y|=|Z|; or |Y|=1=|Z|, and prove that every regular semigroup S can be embedded in F(S 1,S). Then we describe Green??s relations and ideals of F(X,Y) and apply these results to get all of its maximal regular subsemigroups when Y is a nonempty finite subset of X.  相似文献

Assume X is an infinite dimensional F-normed space and let r be a positive number such that the closed ball Br(X) of radius r is properly contained in X. The main aim of this paper is to give examples of regular F-normed ideal spaces in which there is a 1-ball or a (1+ε)-ball contractive retraction of Br(X) onto its boundary with positive lower Hausdorff measure of noncompactness. The examples are based on the abstract results of the paper, obtained under suitable hypotheses on X.  相似文献

For two pairs of rearrangement invariant spaces α = [(X1, Y1), (X2, Y2)] we give necessary and sufficient conditions for pairs (X, Y) to be weak intermediate for σ, i.e., each operator which is of weak types (Xi, Yi), i = 1, 2, also maps X boundedly to Y. Spaces Λα(X) are introduced and are shown to have many of the properties that characterize Lorentz Lpq spaces. Necessary and sufficient conditions in terms of a simple function F(s, t) are given in order that (Λα(X), Λα(Y)) be weak intermediate for σ. Other properties of the function F(s, t) yield sufficient conditions and necessary conditions for interpolation theorems.  相似文献

For a sample of iid observations {(XiYi)} from an absolutely continuous distribution, the multivariate dependence of concomitants Y[]=(Y[1]Y[2], …, Y[n]) and the stochastic order of subsets of Y[] are studied. If (XY) is totally positive dependent of order 2, Y[] is multivariate totally positive dependent of order 2. If the conditional hazard rate function of Y given X, hYX(yx), is decreasing in x for every y, Y[] is multivariate right corner set increasing. And if Y is stochastically increasing in X, the concomitants are increasing in multivariate stochastic order.  相似文献

Expedited shipments are often seen in practice. When the inventory level of an item gets dangerously low after an order has been placed, material managers are often willing to expedite the order at extra fixed and/or variable costs. This paper proposes a single-item continuous-review order expediting inventory policy, which can be considered as an extension of ordinary (s,Q)(s,Q) models. Besides the two usual operational parameters: reorder point s and order quantity Q, it consists of a third parameter called the expedite-up-to level R. If inventory falls below R at the end of the manufacturing lead-time, the buyer can request the upstream supplier to deliver part of an outstanding order via a fast transportation mode. The amount expedited will raise inventory to R, while the remaining order is delivered via a slow (regular) supply mode. Simple procedures are developed to obtain optimal operational parameters. Computational results show that the proposed policy can save large costs for a firm if service level is high, demand variability is large, the extra cost for expediting is small, or the manufacturing lead-time is long.  相似文献

In this paper, the concept of equimodular is introduced. It contains several generalizations of Mazur-Ulam's isometric theorem in modular spaces. Let X and Y be two real modular spaces and X with δ1-midpoint shrinking whose modular ρX satisfies the Δ2-condition. Assume that an operator T maps X onto Y in an δ2-{ti}-equimodular manner for all , where {ti} is a null-sequence of nonnegative reals with the property that t0=1, t1?1/2, and ti?ti−1?2ti for i?2. Then T is affine.  相似文献

Let Cα(X,Y) be the set of all continuous functions from X to Y endowed with the set-open topology where α is a hereditarily closed, compact network on X which is closed under finite unions. We proved that the density of the space Cα(X,Y) is at most iw(X)⋅d(Y) where iw(X) denotes the i-weight of the Tychonoff space X, and d(Y) denotes the density of the space Y when Y is an equiconnected space with equiconnecting function Ψ, and Y has a base consists of Ψ-convex subsets of Y. We also prove that the equiconnectedness of the space Y cannot be replaced with pathwise connectedness of Y. In fact, it is shown that for each infinite cardinal κ, there is a pathwise connected space Y such that π-weight of Y is κ, but Souslin number of the space Ck([0,1],Y) is κ2.  相似文献

Let T(X) be the full transformation semigroup on the set X and let T(X,Y) be the semigroup consisting of all total transformations from X into a fixed nonempty subset Y of X. In 2011, Sanwong studied the regular part $$F(X,Y)=\bigl\{\alpha\in T(X,Y): X\alpha\subseteq Y\alpha\bigr\}, $$ of T(X,Y) and described its Green’s relations and ideals. In this paper, we compute the rank of F(X,Y) when X is a finite set. Moreover, we obtain the rank and idempotent rank of its ideals.  相似文献

Modularization and customization have made enterprises face the multi-item inventory problems and the interactions among those items. A powerful, affordable information technology system can make the continuous review inventory policy more convenient, efficient, and effective. In this study, a (Qr) model is developed to find the optimal lot size and reorder point for a multi-item inventory with interactions between necessary and optional components. In order to accurately approximate costs, the service cost is introduced and defined in proportion to the service level. In addition, the service cost and purchasing cost are taken simultaneously, and are treated as a budget constraint for executives to consider because the firm’s strategy could influence the choice of service level. The proposed model is formulated as a nonlinear optimization problem, as the service level is nonlinear. Thus, some known procedures are revised to solve this problem and the results are compared with other models. The results show that the revised procedure performs better than the N–R procedure, leading to important insights about inventory control policy.  相似文献

We consider the inventory control problem of an independent supplier in a continuous review system. The supplier faces demand from a single customer who in turn faces Poisson demand and follows a continuous review (R, Q) policy. If no information about the inventory levels at the customer is available, reviews and ordering are usually carried out by the supplier only at points in time when a customer demand occurs. It is common to apply an installation stock reorder point policy. However, as the demand faced by the supplier is not Markovian, this policy can be improved by allowing placement of orders at any point in time. We develop a time delay policy for the supplier, wherein the supplier waits until time t after occurrence of the customer demand to place his next order. If the next customer demand occurs before this time delay, then the supplier places an order immediately. We develop an algorithm to determine the optimal time delay policy. We then evaluate the value of information about the customer’s inventory level. Our numerical study shows that if the supplier were to use the optimal time delay policy instead of the installation stock policy then the value of the customer’s inventory information is not very significant.  相似文献

This paper considers a single-item, two-echelon, continuous-review inventory model. A number of retailers have their stock replenished from a central warehouse. The warehouse in turn replenishes stock from an external supplier. The demand processes on the retailers are independent Poisson. Demand not met at a retailer is lost. The order quantity from each retailer on the warehouse and from the warehouse on the supplier takes the same fixed value Q, an exogenous variable determined by packaging and handling constraints. Retailer i follows a (QRi) control policy. The warehouse operates an (SQ, (S − 1)Q) policy, with non-negative integer S. If the warehouse is in stock then the lead time for retailer i is the fixed transportation time Li from the warehouse to that retailer. Otherwise retailer orders are met, after a delay, on a first-come first-served basis. The lead time on a warehouse order is fixed. Two further assumptions are made: that each retailer may only have one order outstanding at any time and that the transportation time from the warehouse to a retailer is not less than the warehouse lead time. The performance measures of interest are the average total stock in the system and the fraction of demand met in the retailers. Procedures for determining these performance measures and optimising the behaviour of the system are developed.  相似文献

A Banach space X is said to have the kp-approximation property (kp-AP) if for every Banach space Y, the space F(Y,X) of finite rank operators is dense in the space Kp(Y,X) of p-compact operators endowed with its natural ideal norm kp. In this paper we study this notion that has been previously treated by Sinha and Karn (2002) in [15]. As application, the kp-AP of dual Banach spaces is characterized via density of finite rank operators in the space of quasi p-nuclear operators for the p-summing norm. This allows to obtain a relation between the kp-AP and Saphar's approximation property. As another application, the kp-AP is characterized in terms of a trace condition. Finally, we relate the kp-AP to the (p,p)-approximation property introduced in Sinha and Karn (2002) [15] for subspaces of Lp(μ)-spaces.  相似文献

Buchwalter and Schmets reconciled Cc(X) and Cp(X) spaces with most of the weak barrelledness conditions of 1973, but could not determine if -barrelled ⇔ ?-barrelled for Cc(X). The areas grew apart. Full reconciliation with the fourteen conditions adopted by Saxon and Sánchez Ruiz needs their 1997 characterization of Ruess' property (L), which allows us to reduce the Cc(X) problem to its 1973 status and solve it by carefully translating the topology of Kunen (1980) and van Mill (1982) to find the example that eluded Buchwalter and Schmets. The more tractable Cp(X) readily partitions the conditions into just two equivalence classes, the same as for metrizable locally convex spaces, instead of the five required for Cc(X) spaces. Our paper elicits others, soon to appear, that analytically characterize when the Tychonov space X is pseudocompact, or Warner bounded, or when Cc(X) is a df-space (Jarchow's 1981 question).  相似文献

For every Tychonoff space X we denote by Cp(X) the set of all continuous real-valued functions on X with the pointwise convergence topology, i.e., the topology of subspace of RX. A set P is a frame for the space Cp(X) if Cp(X)⊂PRX. We prove that if Cp(X) embeds in a σ-compact space of countable tightness then X is countable. This shows that it is natural to study when Cp(X) has a frame of countable tightness with some compactness-like property. We prove, among other things, that if X is compact and the space Cp(X) has a Lindelöf frame of countable tightness then t(X)?ω. We give some generalizations of this result for the case of frames as well as for embeddings of Cp(X) in arbitrary spaces.  相似文献

For the Gaussian channel Y(t) = Φ(ξ(s), Y(s); st) + X(t), the mutual information I(ξ, Y) between the message ξ(·) and the output Y(·) is evaluated, where X(·) is a Gaussian noise. Furthermore, the optimal coding under average power constraints is constructed.  相似文献
