The present paper concentrates on the study of reflection and refraction characteristics of plane waves at an imperfectly bonded interface of two orthotropic generalized thermoelastic rotating half-spaces with different elastic and thermal properties. In this type of problem of orthotropic thermoelastic rotating medium, there are three types of plane waves quasi longitudinal (QL-) wave, quasi thermal (T-mode) wave and quasi transverse (QT-) wave, whose velocities depend on the angle of incidence, imperfection and rotation. The amplitude ratios of reflected waves to that of incident one in each case have been derived. Some special cases of boundaries, i.e. normal stiffness, transverse stiffness, thermal contact conductance, slip boundary and welded contact boundary have been deduced from an imperfect one. Effect of rotation on the amplitude ratios of different reflected and refracted waves with respect to incident QL-wave at different boundaries have been studied graphically. It is observed that thermal properties, imperfect boundary and rotation have significant effect on the propagation of waves.  相似文献

The problem of reflection and transmission of plane waves incident on the contact surface of an elastic solid and an electro-microstretch generalized thermoelastic solid is discussed. It is found that there exist five reflected waves, i.e., longitudinal displacement (LD) wave, thermal (T) wave, longitudinal microstretch (LM) wave and two coupled transverse displacement and microrotational (CD(I) and CD(II)) waves in the electro-microstretch generalized thermoelastic solid, and two transmitted waves, i.e., longitudinal (P) and transverse (SV) waves in the elastic solid. The amplitude ratios of different reflected and transmitted waves are obtained for an imperfect boundary and deduced for normal force stiffness, transverse force stiffness, and perfect bonding. The variations of amplitude ratios with incidence angles have been depicted graphically for the LD wave and the CD(I) wave. It is noticed that the amplitude ratios of reflected and transmitted waves are affected by the stiffness, electric field, stretch, and thermal properties of the media. Some particular interest cases have been deduced from the present investigations.  相似文献

In this paper, the basic equations of motion, of Gauss and of heat conduction, together with constitutive relations for pyro- and piezoelectric media, are presented. Three thermoelastic theories are considered: classical dynamical coupled theory, the Lord–Shulman theory with one relaxation time and Green and Lindsay theory with two relaxation times. For incident elastic longitudinal, potential electric and thermal waves, referred to as qP, φ-mode and T-mode waves, which impinge upon the interface between two different transversal isotropic media, reflection and refraction coefficients are obtained by solving a set of linear algebraic equations. A case study is investigated: a system formed by two semi-infinite, hexagonal symmetric, pyroelectric–piezoelectric media, namely Cadmium Selenide (CdSe) and Barium Titanate (BaTiO3). Numerical results for the reflection and refraction coefficients are obtained, and their behavior versus the incidence angle is analyzed. The interaction with the interface give rises to different kinds of reflected and refracted waves: (i) two reflected elastic waves in the first medium, one longitudinal (qP-wave) and the other transversal (qSV-wave), and a similar situation for the refracted waves in the second medium; (ii) two reflected potential electric waves and a similar situation for the refracted waves; (iii) two reflected thermal waves and a similar situation for the refracted waves. The amplitudes of the reflected and refracted waves are functions of the incident angle, of the thermal relaxation times and of the media elastic, electric, thermal constants. This study is relevant to signal processing, sound systems, wireless communications, surface acoustic wave devices and military defense equipment.  相似文献

The problem of reflection and refraction of waves at the interface of an elastic solid and microstretch thermoelastic solid with microtemperatures has been investigated. It is shown that due to incidence of P-wave or SV-wave at the interface, the waves are reflected and refracted. The amplitude ratios of these various reflected and refracted waves have been computed numerically, and graphical representation of their variations is made with the angle of incidence. Effect of microrotation on these amplitude ratios has been shown graphically. Some particular cases of interest have also been discussed.  相似文献

The problem of reflection and transmission due to longitudinal and transverse waves incident obliquely at a plane interface between uniform elastic solid half-space and fractional order thermoelastic solid half-space has been studied. It is found that the amplitude ratios of various reflected and refracted waves are functions of angle of incidence and frequency of incident wave and are influenced by the fractional order thermoelastic properties of media. The expressions of amplitude ratios and energy ratios have been computed numerically for a particular model. The variation of amplitude and energy ratios with angle of incidence is shown graphically. The conservation of energy at the interface is verified.  相似文献

Wave propagation in a porous elastic medium saturated by two immiscible fluids is investigated. It is shown that there exist three dilatational waves and one transverse wave propagating with different velocities. It is found that the velocities of all the three longitudinal waves are influenced by the capillary pressure, while the velocity of transverse wave does not at all. The problem of reflection and refraction phenomena due to longitudinal and transverse wave incident obliquely at a plane interface between uniform elastic solid half-space and porous elastic half-space saturated by two immiscible fluids has been analyzed. The amplitude ratios of various reflected and refracted waves are found to be continuous functions of the angle of incidence. Expression of energy ratios of various reflected and refracted waves are derived in closed form. The amplitude ratios and energy ratios have been computed numerically for a particular model and the results obtained are depicted graphically. It is verified that during transmission there is no dissipation of energy at the interface. Some particular cases have also been reduced from the present formulation.  相似文献

The present article represents an analysis of reflection of P-wave and SV-wave on the boundary of an isotropic and homogeneous generalized thermoelastic half-space when the boundary is stress-free as well as isothermal. The modulus of elasticity is taken as a linear function of reference temperature. The basic governing equations are applied under four theories of the generalized thermoelasticity: Lord-Shulman (L-S) theory with one relaxation time, Green-Naghdi (G-N) theory without energy dissipation and Tzou theory with dual-phase-lag (DPL), as well as the coupled thermoelasticity (CTE) theory. It is shown that there exist three plane waves, namely, a thermal wave, a P-wave and an SV-wave. The reflection from an isothermal stress-free surface is studied to obtain the reflection amplitude ratios of the reflected waves for the incidence of P- and SV-waves. The amplitude ratios variations with the angle of incident are shown graphically. Also the effects of reference temperature of the modulus of elasticity and dual-phase lags on the reflection amplitude ratios are discussed numerically.  相似文献

The problem of reflection and refraction of elastic waves for an incident transverse wave at a plane interface between two dissimilar half-spaces of thermo-elastic materials with voids has been investigated. Using the theory developed by Iesan (Acta Mech 60:67–89, 1986), the formulae corresponding to the amplitude and energy ratios of reflected and refracted elastic waves have been obtained. The results similar to Singh and Tomar (Mech Materials 39:932–940, 2007) are recovered from the present analysis. The amplitude and energy ratios are computed numerically for a particular model.  相似文献

The reflection and refraction pattern of elastic waves at a corrugated interface between two triclinic half-spaces is discussed. The incident wave is taken to be the cause of the interface disturbance and the reflected and refracted waves are effects. This leads to the causality requirement that the reflected and refracted waves must propagate away from the interface. Closed form expressions of reflection and transmission coefficients are derived using Rayleigh’s method of approximation. The formulae of reflection and transmission coefficients are derived in closed form for the first-order approximation of the corrugation. The analytical expressions of all the three phase velocities of qP, qSV and qSH waves have been derived. The variation of reflection and refraction coefficients with the angle of incidence and also with the corrugation parameter is shown. In this paper we have developed Graphical User Interface (GUI) Software in MATLAB which shows the variation of reflection and refraction coefficients with respect to incident angle and corrugation parameter. This software can be generalized to show the variation of reflection and refraction coefficients. Numerical computations are performed for a scientific model and the results obtained are shown graphically.  相似文献

The present investigation is concerned with the wave propagation at an interface of a micropolar generalized thermoelastic solid half space and a heat conducting micropolar fluid half space. Reflection and transmission phenomena of plane waves are investigated, which impinge obliquely at the plane interface between a micropolar generalized thermoelastic solid half space and a heat conducting micropolar fluid half space. The incident wave is assumed to be striking at the interface after propagating through the micropolar generalized thermoelastic solid. The amplitude ratios of various reflected and transmitted waves are obtained in a closed form. It is found that they are a function of the angle of incidence and frequency and are affected by the elastic properties of the media. Micropolarity and thermal relaxation effects are shown on the amplitude ratios for a specific model. The results of some earlier literatures are also deduced from the present investigation.  相似文献

The propagation, reflection, and transmission of SH waves in slightly compressible, finitely deformed elastic media are considered in this paper. The dispersion relation for SH-wave propagation in slightly compressible, finitely deformed layer overlying a slightly compressible, finitely deformed half-space is derived. The present paper also deals with the reflection and refraction (transmission) phenomena due to the SH wave incident at the plane interface between two distinct slightly compressible, finitely deformed elastic media. The closed form expressions for the amplitude ratios of reflection and refraction coefficients of the reflected and refracted SH waves are obtained from suitable boundary conditions. For the numerical discussions, we consider the Neo-Hookean form of a strain energy function. The phase speed curves, the variations of reflection, and transmission coefficients with the angle of incidence, and the plots of the slowness sections are presented by means of graphs.  相似文献

A plane longitudinal displacement wave is made incident upon a chiral slab of uniform thickness, interposed between two different semi-infinite micropolar elastic solids. The amplitude ratios of various reflected and refracted waves are obtained using the two possible sets of boundary conditions. The variations of various amplitude ratios with the angle of incidence as well as with the frequency are depicted graphically, for a specific problem. The effect of chirality parameter and the thickness of the chiral slab on these amplitude ratios have been noticed. Results of some earlier researchers have also been reduced as special cases of present formulation.  相似文献

In this paper, the basic governing equations for isotropic and homogeneous generalized thermoelastic half-space under hydrostatic initial stress are formulated in the context of the Green and Naghdi theory of types II and III. These governing equations are solved analytically to obtain the dimensional velocities in an xy-plane. It is shown that there exist three plane waves, namely a thermal wave, a P-wave and an SV-wave. The reflection from an insulated and isothermal stress-free surface is studied to obtain the reflection amplitude ratios of the reflected waves for the incidence of P- and SV-waves. Numerical computations are carried out and comparisons made with the results predicted in the presence and absence of hydrostatic initial stress. Also the effect of the thermoelastic coupling parameter and the thermal condition on amplitude ratios are shown graphically.  相似文献

The propagation of elastic waves is studied in a porous solid saturated with two immiscible viscous fluids. The propagation of three longitudinal waves is represented through three scalar potential functions. The lone transverse wave is presented by a vector potential function. The displacements of particles in different phases of the aggregate are defined in terms of these potential functions. It is shown that there exist three longitudinal waves and one transverse wave. The phenomena of reflection and refraction due to longitudinal and transverse waves at a plane interface between an elastic solid half-space and a porous solid half-space saturated with two immiscible viscous fluids are investigated. For the presence of viscosity in pore-fluids,the waves refracted to the porous medium attenuate in the direction normal to the interface. The ratios of the amplitudes of the reflected and refracted waves to that of the incident wave are calculated as a nonsingular system of linear algebraic equations. These amplitude ratios are used to further calculate the shares of different scattered waves in the energy of the incident wave. The modulus of the amplitude and the energy ratios with the angle of incidence are computed for a particular numerical model. The conservation of the energy across the interface is verified. The effects of variations in non-wet saturation of pores and frequencies on the energy partition are depicted graphically and discussed.  相似文献

The reflection and refraction of anti-plane shear waves from an interface separating half-spaces with different moduli is well understood in the linear theory of elasticity. Namely, an oblique incident wave gives rise to a reflected wave that departs at the same angle and to a refracted wave that, after transmission through the interface, departs at a possibly different angle. Here we study similar issues for a material that admits mobile elastic phase boundaries in anti-plane shear. We consider an energy minimal equilibrium state in anti-plane shear involving a planar phase boundary that is perturbed due to an incident wave of small magnitude. The phase boundary is allowed to move under this perturbation. As in the linear theory, the perturbation gives rise to a reflected and a refracted wave. The orientation of these waves is independent of the phase boundary motion and determined as in the linear theory. However, the phase boundary motion affects the amplitudes of the departing waves. Perturbation analysis gives these amplitudes for general small phase boundary motion, and also permits the specification of the phase boundary motion on the basis of additional criteria such as a kinetic relation. A standard kinetic relation is studied to quantify the subsequent energy partitioning and dissipation on the basis of the properties of the incident wave.  相似文献

The theory of generalized rays was developed to analyze transient waves in layered media where incident circular or spherical waves are reflected and refracted by plane boundaries. The theory has been recently extended to analyze the diffraction of transient waves by a spherical or a cylindrical boundary. In this paper, the generalized ray integrals, which represent the fourier transformed diffracted waves, are formulated for the diffraction of an incident spherical pulse by a circular cylinder. The ray integral involves a double integration with respect to two variables of wave slowness. Through a simultaneous transformation of variables, the inverse Fourier transform of these double integrals are completed by applying the Cagniard method.  相似文献

In this work, the generalized thermoelastic solutions with bounded boundaries for the transient shock problem are proposed by an asymptotic method. The governing equations are taken in the context of the generalized thermoelasticity with one relaxation time (L–S theory). The general solutions for any set of boundary conditions are obtained in the physical domain by the Laplace transform techniques. The corresponding asymptotic solutions for a thin plate with finite thickness, subjected to different sudden temperature rises in its two boundaries, are obtained by means of the limit theorem of Laplace transform. In the context of these asymptotic solutions, two specific problems with different boundary conditions have been conducted. The distributions of displacement, temperature and stresses, as well as the propagations, intersections and reflections of two elastic waves, named as thermoelastic wave and thermal wave separately, are obtained and plotted. These results are agreed with the results obtained in the existing literatures.  相似文献

The present investigation is concerned with wave propagation in an electro-microstretch generalized thermoelastic solid half space. Two different cases have been discussed: (i) reflection of plane wave at the free surface of an electro-microstretch generalized thermoelastic solid; and (ii) propagation of Rayleigh waves in an electro-microstretch generalized thermoelastic solid half space. In case (i), the amplitude ratios of the various reflected waves have been computed numerically and depicted graphically against angle of incidence. In case (ii), the frequency equation is derived and dispersion curves giving phase velocity and attenuation coefficient as a function of wave number, have been plot- ted graphically for a specific model. Some special cases of interest are also deduced, for both the cases.  相似文献

The reflection of three-dimensional(3D) plane waves in a highly anisotropic(triclinic) medium under the context of generalized thermoelasticity is studied. The thermoelastic nature of the 3D plane waves in an anisotropic medium is investigated in the perspective of the three-phase-lag(TPL), dual-phase-lag(DPL), Green-Naghdi-III(GNIII), Lord-Shulman(LS), and classical coupled(CL) theories. The reflection coefficients and energy ratios for all the reflected waves are obtained in a mathematical form. The rotational effects on the reflection characteristics of the 3D waves are discussed under the context of generalized thermoelasticity. Comparative analyses for the reflection coefficients of the waves among these generalized thermoelastic theories are performed. The energy ratios for each of the reflected waves establish the energy conservation law in the reflection phenomena of the plane waves. The highly anisotropic materials along with the rotation may have a significant role in the phenomenon of the reflection behavior of the 3D waves. Numerical computations are performed for the graphical representation of the study.  相似文献
