Abstract

Vinyl benzoate was polymerized by γ-radiation from a cobalt-60 source and the kinetics of polymerization were studied at several temperatures. The results showed that the rate of polymerization was proportional to I0.66 , where I is the radiation dose rate. The net activation energy for the polymerization reaction, (Ep -1/2 Et ), was found to be 3.62 kcal, where Ep and Et are the activation energies for the propagation and termination stages of the reaction. The radical yield measured by the loss of DPPH in the solution after irradiation was G=5.0, while the G (Radical) effective in initiating polymerization was 0.94. The ratio of the rate constants, k2 p/kt = 5.8 × 10?4 at 60° and 1.59 × 10?4 at 25° The rate of polymerization was higher than that of styrene but lower than that of vinyl acetate under comparable conditions.  相似文献

A method for obtaining a medium pressure (p ~ 1 torr), low power (< 100 W), RF-generated plasma jet, suitable for chemical kinetics studies and technological applications is described. Though various supply gases can be used to create the plasma jet, only results on the properties of a nitrogen jet are given in this paper with an emphasis on some spectral and electrical characteristics. The emission spectra of the nitrogen jet are discussed and spatial distributions of the relative concentration of nitrogen or radical impurities emitting species such as N2(C3Πu, v' = 0), NH(A3Πg, v'=0) in the bulk of the postdischarge plasma are calculated from the intensity of their vibrational bands. Electrical space resolved double probe measurements and the spatial distributions of the electron density and temperature in the plasma jet are also presented. Possible applications are shortly discussed.  相似文献

Supersonic jets (Mach number M = 1.4 – 2.0) of dense plasma were produced by a plasmatron in a pulsed regime. The shock structure was investigated by fast mirror cameras, by the schlieren technique and by probe and spectroscopic methods. It was found that during jet expansion the bow shock ahead the gas-plasma interface and the shock behind it are superimposed with the quasistationary shock structure which includes the Mach disk. Whereas the plasma in the discharge chamber is in LTE (nE ≈ 5 × 1023 m?3, T ≈ 14000 K), the electron density of the expanding jet plasma falls to a plateau value of nE ≈ 5 × 1019 m?3 below the LTE limit. At this phase, the jet plasma formed a ball-like turbulent plasmoid which moves at a subsonic velocity through the air up to some milliseconds.  相似文献

Vertically aligned multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were grown on 1‐ and 3‐nm cobalt (Co) films, at various growth times by microwave plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition technique and their microstructural properties were analyzed with the help of Raman spectra that were obtained from different sources of laser excitation energies (EL: 2.41, 1.96 and 1.58 eV). The variation of D and G band positions in MWCNTs grown on 1‐ and 3‐nm Co films follows a similar behavior, and an anomalous behavior was observed in the EL dependence of the D′‐band wavenumber. In the second‐order spectra, the G′ band varied strongly according to structure with the laser excitation energy (EL). The ID/IG ratio decreased with the increase of EL for all MWCNTs; however, for a fixed EL, the ID/IG dispersion is higher at lower EL. The crystallite sizes were estimated using IDIG and EL. One of the most important requirements for a detector at the ILC is good jet energy resolution. It is widely believed that the particle flow approach to calorimetry is the key to achieving the goal of 0.3/√E(GeV). This paper describes the current performance of the PandoraPFA particle flow algorithm. For 45 GeV jets in the Tesla TDR detector concept, the ILC jet energy resolution goal is reached. At higher energies the jet energy resolution becomes worse and can be described by the empirical expression: σ E /E ≈ 0.265/√E(GeV) + 1.2 × 10−4 E(GeV).   相似文献

Detailed level-by-level calculations of cross sections and rate coefficients for electron impact direct and indirect ionization of ions belonging to the GaI isoelectronic sequence (ground 3d 104s 24p) have been performed. The cross sections are presented in the energy range near the threshold for the five ions Kr5+, Mo11+, Xe23+, Pr28+ and Dy35+. The rate coefficients are given for ions from Kr5+ to U61+ in the GaI sequence at seven electron temperatures (kT e = 0.1E I , 0.3E I , 0.5E I , 0.7E I ,E I , 2E I and 10E I , where E I is the first ionization energy). The calculations include the contribution of direct ionization (DI) calculated using the Lotz formula approximation and the contributions of excitation-autoionization (EA) computed in the framework of the distorted wave (DW) approximation for the 4s-nl, 3d-nl and 3p-nl resonant inner-shell excitations. The ionization enhancement due to the EA channels is presented as a function of Z along the GaI isoelectronic sequence. The present results show the great importance of the EA processes; an ionization enhancement factor of up to 10 is predicted for instance for La26+ (Z = 57) at electron temperature of coronal equilibrium maximum abundance.  相似文献

We investigate the excitation function of quark-gluon plasma formation and of directed in-plane flow of nucleons in the energy range of the BNL-AGS and for the E kin Lab = 40A GeV Pb + Pb collisions performed recently at the CERN-SPS. We employ the three-fluid model with dynamical unification of kinetically equilibrated fluid elements. Within our model with first-order phase transition at high density, droplets of QGP coexisting with hadronic matter are produced already at BNL-AGS energies, E kin Lab≃ 10A GeV. A substantial decrease of the isentropic velocity of sound, however, requires higher energies, E kin Lab≃ 40A GeV. We show the effect on the flow of nucleons in the reaction plane. According to our model calculations, kinematic requirements and EoS effects work hand-in-hand at E kin Lab = 40A GeV to allow the observation of the dropping velocity of sound via an increase of the directed flow around midrapidity as compared to top BNL-AGS energy. Alpha-decay properties of the neutron-deficient isotope 185Pb were studied at the PSB-ISOLDE (CERN) on-line mass separator using the resonance ionisation laser ion source (RILIS). The nuclei of interest were produced in a 1.4 GeV proton-induced spallation reaction of a uranium graphite target. In contrast to previous studies, two α-decaying isomeric states were identified in 185Pb. The relative production of the isomers, monitored by their α-counting rates, could be significantly changed when a narrow-bandwidth laser at the RILIS setup was used to scan through the atomic hyperfine structure. Based on the atomic hyperfine structure measurements, along with the systematics for heavier odd-mass lead isotopes, the spin and the parity of these states were interpreted as 3/2- and 13/2+ and their nuclear magnetic moments were deduced. The α-decay energy and half-life value for the I π = 13/2+ isomer are E α = 6408(5) keV, T 1/2 = 4.3(2) s, respectively; while for the I π = 3/2- isomer ( T 1/2 = 6.3(4) s) two α-decays with E α1 = 6288(5) keV, I α1 = 56(2)% and E α2 = 6486(5) keV, I α2 = 44(2)% were observed. By observing prompt α-γ coincidences new information on the low-lying states in the daughter isotope 181Hg was obtained. Received: 7 February 2002 / Accepted: 19 February 2002  相似文献

High-spin level schemes of the N = 80 isotones 146Dy, 147Ho and 148Er have been investigated by in-beam γ-ray spectroscopic methods using the NORDBALL Compton-suppressed multidetector array including proton and neutron selection. The projectile-target system 58Ni + 92Mo at 260 MeV beam energy has been used to produce the neutron-deficient N = 80 isotones. The previously known schemes have been extended to considerably higher spin and exitation energy, up to I = 23?, E x≈ 8.9 MeV in 146Dy, I = 53/2?, E x≈ 8.7 MeV in 147Ho and I = 23?, E x≈ 9.6 MeV in 148Er. The nucleon's strange electric and magnetic form factors G E s and G M s can be probed via parity-violating electron scattering. The HAPPEX Collaboration has made new measurements of the parity-violating asymmetry A PV in elastic scattering of 3GeV electrons off hydrogen and 4He targets with 〈θlab〉 ≈ 6.0° . For 4He the preliminary result is A PV = (+ 6.43±0.23(stat)±0.22(syst))×10-6 . For hydrogen the preliminary result is A PV = (- 1.60±0.12(stat)±0.05(syst))×10-6 . From these values we extract G s E = 0.004±0.014±0.013 at 〈Q 2〉 = 0.077 GeV/c^2 , and G s E +0.09G s M = 0.004±0.011±0.005 at 〈Q 2〉 = 0.109 GeV/c^2 , both consistent with zero, providing stringent new limits on the role of strange quarks in the vector structure of the nucleon.  相似文献

Theoretical calculations predict that the collapse pressure for double-walled carbon nanotubes (DWCNTs) is proportional to 1/R 3, where R is the effective or average radius of a DWCNT. In order to address the problem of CNT stability at high pressure and stress, we performed a resonance Raman study of DWCNTs dispersed in sodium cholate using 532 and 633 nm laser excitation. Raman spectra of the recovered samples show minor versus irreversible changes with increasing I D/I G ratio after exposure to high non-hydrostatic pressure of 23 and 35 GPa, respectively. The system exhibits nearly 70% pressure hysteresis in radial breathing vibrational mode signals recovery on pressure release which is twice that predicted by theory.  相似文献

The CCl4 plasma decomposition and the etching of SiO2 and Al by the CCl4 plasma is investigated with the aid of emission intensity Iλ of such species as Cl2, CCl, Cl and CO, which are influenced systematically by the etching process. A time independent electron density (ne ≈ 2 · 108 ?1 · 1010 cm?3, dependent on plasma conditions) is measured by microwave diagnostics. The ratio Iλ/ne and Iλ/Ireference' resp. (Ireference = IHelium) is a relative measure of concentrations. The ratio Icl2/Iccl is very sensitive against CCl4-decomposition and etching processes of SiO2 and Al. Its changes during the etching process of SiO2 and Al in a CCl4 plasma are investigated.  相似文献

We present numerical studies of active flow control applied to jet flow. We focus on rectangular jets, which are more unstable than their circular counterparts. The higher level of instability is expressed mainly by an increased intensity of mixing of the main flow with its surroundings. We analyse jets with aspect ratio Ar = 1, Ar = 2 and Ar = 3 at Re = 10,000. It is shown that the application of control with a suitable excitation (forcing) at the jet nozzle can amplify the mixing and qualitatively alter the character of the flow. This can result in an increased spreading rate of the jet or even splitting into nearly separate streams. The excitations studied are obtained from a superposition of axial and flapping forcing terms. We consider the effect of varying parameters such as the frequency of the excitations and phase shift between forcing components. The amplitude of the forcing is 10% of the inlet centreline jet velocity and the forcing frequencies correspond to Strouhal numbers in a range St = 0.3–0.7. It is shown that qualitatively different flow regimes and a rich variety of possible flow behaviours can be achieved simply by changing aspect ratio and forcing parameters. The numerical results are obtained applying large eddy simulation in combination with a high-order compact difference code for incompressible flows. The solutions are validated based on experimental data from literature for non-excited jets for Ar = 1 at Re = 1.84 × 105 and Ar = 2 at Re = 1.28 × 105. Both the mean velocities as well as their fluctuations are predicted with good accuracy.  相似文献

使用全相对论组态相互作用方法, 能级-能级细致计算了0.1 EIkTe≤ 10 EI (EI是类钠离子基态的第一电离能) 温度范围内类氖离子基态双电子复合(DR)速率系数, 双激发自电离能级考虑了(2s2p)73ln'l', (2s2p)74l4l' 以及(2s2p)74l5l'组态. 对于(2s2p)73ln'l'双激发自电离组态, 轨道角量子数l' >8 的(2s2p)73ln'l'双激发自电离态对双电子复合速率系数的贡献可以忽略不计; (2s2p)73ln'l'双激发自电离组态的高里德堡态对双电子复合速率系数的贡献满足 n'-3组态-组态外推法, 并且核电荷数越大, 趋于n'-3标度的n'值越小; 对细致能级计算得到的类氖离子基态的总DR速率系数进行了拟合, 得到类氖离子基态的总DR速率系数随核电荷数 Z和电子温度变化的经验公式, 该拟合公式与细致计算结果的偏差在2%以内, 能较准确的计算任意核电荷数Z的类氖离子在0.1EIkTe ≤ 10EI电子温度范围的DR速率系数. Burgess-Merts(BM)近似公式不适用于估算低温(kTe<0.3 EI)类氖离子的DR速率系数, 在高温(kTe>2EI)时, 类氖离子的DR速率系数可以用BM近似公式表示.  相似文献

On basis of principle of discreteness of the space and time the following relations are obtained ΛoMoc = 2π?, τoEo = 2π? and c2 = 2GMoo giving the values of fundamental elements of length Λo ≈ (?G/c3)1/2, mass Mo ≈ (?c/G)1/2, time τo ≈ (?G/c5)1/2 and energy Eo ≈ (?c5/G)1/2. The geon crown of any critical system and the crown of the Universe must have a thickness equal to the fundamental length Λo = 2(π?G/c3)1/2 = 5.74. 10?33 cm. Each critical system has its specific (most probable) quantum with an average invariant mass which in the case of the Universe is equal to (2π2?Hu/Gc)1/3 ≈ 300 me where Hu is Hubble's constant. There are all reasons to consider the universal virtual quanta of an invariant mass mu ≈ 300 me as carriers of gravitational, electromagnetic and nuclear fields in the Universe.  相似文献

The Brueckner G-matrix for a slab of nuclear matter is analyzed in the singlet 1S and triplet 3 S + 3 D channels. The complete Hilbert space is split into two domains, the model subspace S0, in which the two-particle propagator is calculated explicitly, and the complementary one, S', in which the local potential approximation is used. This kind of local approximation was previously found to be quite accurate for the 1S pairing problem. A set of model spaces S 0(E 0) with different values of the energy E0 is considered, E0 being the upper limit for the single-particle energies of the states belonging to S0. The independence of the G-matrix on E0 is assumed as a criterion for the validity of the local potential approximation. It turns out that such an independence holds within few percents for E 0 = 10-20 MeV, for both channels under consideration. The G-matrix within the local potential approximation is used for justifying a simple microscopic model for the coordinate-dependent scalar-isoscalar component f (r) of the Landau-Migdal amplitude in terms of the free T-matrix. The Pierre Auger Collaboration discovered, in a solid angle of radius about 18°, a local group of cosmic rays having energies in the region E 0 ≥ 5.5 × 1019 eV and coming from the region of the Gen A radio galaxy, whose galactic coordinates are l G = 309.5° and b G = 19.4°. Near it, there is the Centaur supercluster of galaxies, its galactic coordinates being l G = 302.4° and b G = 21.6°. It is noteworthy that the Great Attractor, which may have a direct bearing on the observed picture, is also there.  相似文献

The results of the experiments on the formation of a plasma emitter with small spatial dimensions for pulsed radiography in the soft X-ray spectral range are presented. Emitting hot plasma was formed as a result of compression of the plasma jet by a current pulse with amplitude I m = 215 kA and rise time T fr = 200 ns. For the jet formation, we used a plasma gun based on the arc discharge (I m = 8.5 kA and T fr = 6 μs) initiated by breakdown over the surface of a dielectric in vacuum. The experiments were carried out with aluminum, tin, copper, and iron plasma jets. A single emitter, i.e., point Z-pinch (PZ-pinch), was formed when an interelectrode gap of a high current generator of 1.3–1.5 mm was used. The smallest spatial dimensions of the emitting region were obtained with the use of aluminum and tin. For a tin jet, the diameter of the emitting region was 7 ± 2 μm and its height was 17 ± 2 μm. The emission pulse duration at half-height was 2–3 ns. The total emission yield per pulse in the spectral range 1.56–1.90 keV was 30–50 mJ for the aluminum pinch and 10–30 mJ for the tin pinch. The developed method makes it possible to carry out radiographic examination of microobjects (including biological ones) 1–1000 μm in thickness, with spatial (10–20 μm) and time (2–3 ns) resolution.  相似文献
