An effective metric is defined and used for analyzing the quantum fluctuations in a classical geometry. Earlier work showing that quantum (conformal) fluctuations avoid the classical singularity in the case of spherically symmetric collapse is briefly reviewed. It is shown that this result doesnot extend to anisotropic Bianchi type I cosmology. Here the dispersion in the fluctuations increases too slowly to quench the classical singularity. The singularity persists in the space-time described by the effective metric.  相似文献

The quantum analog of Pauli matrices are introduced and investigated. From these matrices and an appropriate trace over spinorial indices we construct a quantum Minkowski metric. In this framework we show explicitly the correspondence between the SL(2,C) and Lorentz quantum groups. Five matrices of the quantum Lorentz group are constructed in terms of the R matrix of SL(2,C) group. These matrices satisfy Yang–Baxter equations and two of which have adequate properties tied to the quantum Minkowski space structure as the reality conditions of the coordinates and the symmetrization of the metric. It is also shown that the Minkowski metric leads to invariant and central lengths of four-vectors.  相似文献

Efforts at providing a physical-axiomatic foundation of the space-time structure of the general theory of relativity have led, when based on simple empirical facts about freely falling particles and light signals, in a satisfying manner only to a Weyl space-time. By adding postulates based on quantum theory, however, the usual pseudo-Riemannian space-time can be reached. We present a newclassical postulate which provides the same results. It is based upon the notion of the radar distance between freely falling particles and demands the approximate equality of the growth of the radar distance for particle pairs of equal, small initial velocities. We show that given this, a property results, as found in earlier work by the author, that distinguishes between Weyl and Lorentz space-times. The property refers to a special metric and decides whether its metric connection has the given free-fall worldlines as geodesics or not. It consists in the vanishing of the mixed spatiotemporal componentsg i4 of this metric in suitable coordinates along the worldline of the freely falling observer, as the rest system of which the coordinates are constructed.  相似文献

Chern number is usually characterized by Berry curvature. Here, by investigating the Dirac model of even-dimensional Chern insulator, we give the general relation between Berry curvature and quantum metric, which indicates that the Chern number can be encoded in quantum metric as well as the surface area of the Brillouin zone on the hypersphere embedded in Euclidean parameter space. We find that there is a corresponding relationship between the quantum metric and the metric on such a hypersphere. We give the geometrical property of quantum metric. Besides, we give a protocol to measure the quantum metric in the degenerate system.  相似文献

We construct noncommutative “Riemannian manifold” structures on dual quasitriangular Hopf algebras such as ℂ q [SU 2] with its standard bicovariant differential calculus, using the quantum frame bundle approach introduced previously. The metric is provided by the braided-Killing form on the braided-Lie algebra on the tangent space and the n-bein by the Maurer–Cartan form. We also apply the theory to finite sets and in particular to finite group function algebras ℂ[G] with differential calculi and Killing forms determined by a conjugacy class. The case of the permutation group ℂ[S 3] is worked out in full detail and a unique torsion free and cotorsion free or “Levi–Civita” connection is obtained with noncommutative Ricci curvature essentially proportional to the metric (an Einstein space). We also construct Dirac operators in the metric background, including on finite groups such as S 3. In the process we clarify the construction of connections from gauge fields with nonuniversal calculi on quantum principal bundles of tensor product form. The spin-weighted spheroidal equation in the case of s=1/2 is thoroughly studied by using the perturbation method from the supersymmetric quantum mechanics.The first-five terms of the superpotential in the series of parameter β are given.The general form for the n-th term of the superpotential is also obtained,which could also be derived from the previous terms W k,k < n.From these results,it is easy to obtain the ground eigenfunction of the equation.Furthermore,the shape-invariance property in the series of parameter β is investigated and is proven to be kept.This nice property guarantees that the excited eigenfunctions in the series form can be obtained from the ground eigenfunction by using the method from the supersymmetric quantum mechanics.We show the perturbation method in supersymmetric quantum mechanics could completely solve the spin-weight spheroidal wave equations in the series form of the small parameter β.  相似文献

Some nondifferentiable quantities (for example, the metric signature) can be the independent physical degrees of freedom. It is supposed that in quantum gravity these degrees of freedom can fluctuate. Two examples of such quantum fluctuation are considered: a quantum interchange of the sign of two components of the 5D metric and a quantum fluctuation between Euclidean and Lorentzian metrics. The first case leads to a spin-like structure on the throat of a composite wormhole and to a possible inner structure of the string. The second case leads to a quantum birth of the non-singular Euclidean Universe with frozen 5th dimension. The probability for such quantum fluctuations is connected with an algorithmical complexity of the Einstein equations.  相似文献

We investigate a measure of distinguishability defined by the quantum Chernoff bound, which naturally induces the quantum Chernoff metric over a manifold of quantum states. Based on a quantum statistical model, we alternatively derive this metric by means of perturbation expansion. Moreover, we show that the quantum Chernoff metric coincides with the infinitesimal form of the quantum Hellinger distance, and reduces to the variant version of the quantum Fisher information for the single-parameter case. We also give the exact form of the quantum Chernoff metric for a qubit system containing a single parameter.  相似文献

We discuss the stability of semiclassical gravity solutions with respect to small quantum corrections by considering the quantum fluctuations of the metric perturbations around the semiclassical solution. We call the attention to the role played by the symmetrized 2-point quantum correlation function for the metric perturbations, which can be naturally decomposed into two separate contributions: intrinsic and induced fluctuations. We show that traditional criteria on the stability of semiclassical gravity are incomplete because these criteria based on the linearized semiclassical Einstein equation can only provide information on the expectation value and the intrinsic fluctuations of the metric perturbations. By contrast, the framework of stochastic semiclassical gravity provides a more complete and accurate criterion because it contains information on the induced fluctuations as well. The Einstein–Langevin equation therein contains a stochastic source characterized by the noise kernel (the symmetrized 2-point quantum correlation function of the stress tensor operator) and yields stochastic correlation functions for the metric perturbations which agree, to leading order in the large N limit, with the quantum correlation functions of the theory of gravity interacting with N matter fields. These points are illustrated with the example of Minkowski space-time as a solution to the semiclassical Einstein equation, which is found to be stable under both intrinsic and induced fluctuations.  相似文献

In this paper we study minimal affinizations of representations of quantum groups (generalizations of Kirillov-Reshetikhin modules of quantum affine algebras introduced in [Cha1]). We prove that all minimal affinizations in types A, B, G are special in the sense of monomials. Although this property is not satisfied in general, we also prove an analog property for a large class of minimal affinizations in types C, D, F. As an application, the Frenkel-Mukhin algorithm [FM1] works for these modules. For minimal affinizations of type A, B we prove the thin property (the l-weight spaces are of dimension 1) and a conjecture of [NN1] (already known for type A). The proof of the special property is extended uniformly for more general quantum affinizations of quantum Kac-Moody algebras.  相似文献

The strategy of endowing PT-symmetric quantum mechanics with a positive definite metric, by adopting a modified inner product, has recently been explored in a simple non-hermitian quadratic boson Hamiltonian. We reconsider this analysis with emphasis on the question of a unique metric linked to the identification of an irreducible set of observables. Our results emphasise the necessity to ensure such a unique metric in order to establish a viable quantum mechanical framework.  相似文献

It is shown that in the nonlinear electrodynamics of vacuum, which is a corollary of quantum electrodynamics, a weak electromagnetic wave propagates in the field of an intense laser radiation as if this took place in some effective space-time whose metric tensor depends on the electric field of the laser radiation. The components of the metric vector of the effective space-time along the geodesic lines of which the rays of the weak electromagnetic wave propagate in the given case have been found. It is pointed out that this property may serve as a basis for observing the manifestations of the nonlinearity of the electrodynamics of vacuum.  相似文献

Using the recoupling theorem and graph calculation in loop quantum gravity, it is demonstrated that the action of metric matrix operator on Gaussian weave state is an eigenaction, the representation matrix elements of the metric operator and their expectation values are calculated. The values of length of tangent vectors of edges adjacent to the vertex of Gaussian weave state, as well as the angles between them are also obtained in the cases of k=0 and k=2.  相似文献

An extension of the formalism of quantum mechanics to the case where the canonical variables are valued in a field ofp-adic numbers is considered. In particular the free particle and the harmonic oscillator are considered. In classicalp-adic mechanics we consider time as ap-adic variable and coordinates and momentum orp-adic or real. For the case ofp-adic coordinates and momentum quantum mechanics with complex amplitudes is constructed. It is shown that the Weyl representation is an adequate formulation in this case. For harmonic oscillator the evolution operator is constructed in an explicit form. For primesp of the form 4l+1 generalized vacuum states are constructed. The spectra of the evolution operator have been investigated. Thep-adic quantum mechanics is also formulated by means of probability measures over the space of generalized functions. This theory obeys an unusual property: the propagator of a massive particle has power decay at infinity, but no exponential one.  相似文献

The existence of nontrivial causality violation is a peculiar property of the space-time around a naked singularity. This paper studies the discord of a bipartite two-level system coupling to an XY spin-chain environment in a transverse field and investigates the relationship between the discord property and the environment’s quantum phase transition.The results show that the quantum discord is also able to characterize the quantum phase transitions.We also discuss the difference between discord and entanglement,and show that quantum discord may reveal more general information than quantum entanglement for characterizing the environment’s quantum phase transition.  相似文献

Some possibilities of reconciling general relativity with quantum theory are discussed. The procedure of quantization is certainly not unique, but depends upon the choice of the coordinate conditions. Most versions of quantization predict the existence of gravitons, but it is also possible to formulate a quantum theory with a classical gravity whereby the expectation values ofT µv constitute the sources of the classical metric field.  相似文献

We give an explicit parameterization for the state space of an n-level density matrix. The parameterization is based on the canonical coset decomposition of unitary matrices.
