Let L be a restricted Lie algebra. The symmetric algebra Sp(L) of the restricted enveloping algebra u(L) has the structure of a Poisson algebra. We give necessary and sufficient conditions on L in order for the symmetric algebra Sp(L) to satisfy a multilinear Poisson identity. We also settle the same problem for the symmetric algebra S(L) of a Lie algebra L over an arbitrary field. The first author was partially supported by MIUR of Italy. We prove a variant of a theorem of N. Alon and V. D. Milman. Using it we construct for everyn-dimensional Banach spacesX andY a measure space Ω and two operator-valued functionsT: Ω→L(X, Y),S: Ω→L(Y, X) so that ∫Ω S(ω)oT(ω) is the identity operator inX and ∫Ω||S(ω)||·||T(ω)||dω=O(n α ) for some absolute constantα<1. We prove also that any subset of the unitn-cube which is convex, symmetric with respect to the origin and has a sufficiently large volume possesses a section of big dimension isomorphic to ak-cube. Let S be a compact infinite set in the complex plane with 0∉S, and let R n be the minimal residual polynomial on S, i.e., the minimal polynomial of degree at most n on S with respect to the supremum norm provided that R n (0)=1. For the norm L n (S) of the minimal residual polynomial, the limit k(S):=limn?¥n?{Ln(S)}\kappa(S):=\lim_{n\to\infty}\sqrt[n]{L_{n}(S)} exists. In addition to the well-known and widely referenced inequality L n (S)≥κ(S) n , we derive the sharper inequality L n (S)≥2κ(S) n /(1+κ(S)2n ) in the case that S is the union of a finite number of real intervals. As a consequence, we obtain a slight refinement of the Bernstein–Walsh lemma.  相似文献

In this paper, we determine the X-inner automorphisms of the smash product R # U(L) of a prime ring R by the universal enveloping algebra U(L) of a characteristic 0 Lie algebra L. Specifically, we show that any such automorphism σ stabilizing R can be written as a product σ = σ1σ2, where σ1 is induced by conjugation by a unit of Q3(R), the symmetric Martindale ring of quotients of R, and σ2 is induced by conjugation by a unit of Q3(T). Here S = Ql(R) is the left Martindale ring of quotients of R and T is the centralizer of S in S # U(L) - R # U(L). One of the subtleties of the proof is that we must work in several unrelated overrings of R # U(L).  相似文献

Blending methods of Topological Dynamics and Control Theory, we develop a new technique to construct compact-Lie-group-valued minimal cocycles arising as fundamental matrix solutions of linear differential equations with recurrent coefficients subject to a given constraint. The precise requirement on the coefficients is that they belong to a specified closed convex subsetS of the Lie algebraL of the Lie group. Our result is proved for a very thin class of cocycles, since the dimension ofS is allowed to be much smaller than that ofL, and the only assumption onS is thatL 0(S) =L, whereL 0(S) is the ideal ofL(S) generated by the difference setS − S, andL(S) is the Lie subalgebra ofL generated byS. This covers a number of differential equations arising in Mathematical Physics, and applies in particular to the widely studied example of the Rabi oscillator. Let M be a type I von Neumann algebra with the center Z, and a faithful normal semi-finite trace τ. Consider the algebra L(M, τ) of all τ-measurable operators with respect to M and let S 0(M, τ) be the subalgebra of τ-compact operators in L(M, τ). We prove that any Z-linear derivation of S 0(M, τ) is spatial and generated by an element from L(M, τ).   相似文献

Motivated by recent results of Stanley, we generalize the rank of a partition λ to the rank of a shifted partition S(λ). We show that the number of bars required in a minimal bar tableau of S(λ) is max(o, e + (ℓ(λ) mod 2)), where o and e are the number of odd and even rows of λ. As a consequence we show that the irreducible projective characters of Sn vanish on certain conjugacy classes. Another corollary is a lower bound on the degree of the terms in the expansion of Schur’s Qλ symmetric functions in terms of the power sum symmetric functions. Received November 20, 2003  相似文献

Let S k (N, χ) be the space of cusp forms of weight k, level N and character χ. For let L(s, sym2 f) be the symmetric square L-function and be the Rankin–Selberg square attached to f. For fixed k ≥ 2, N prime, and real primitive χ, asymptotic formulas for the first and second moment of the central value of L(s, sym2 f) and over a basis of S k (N, χ) are given as N → ∞. We introduce a new method to construct large classes of minimally supported frequency (MSF) wavelets of the Hardy space H 2 (ℝ)and symmetric MSF wavelets of L 2 (ℝ),and discuss the classification of such wavelets. As an application, we show that there are uncountably many such wavelet sets of L 2 (ℝ)and H 2 (ℝ).We also enumerate some of the symmetric wavelet sets of L 2 (ℝ)and all wavelet sets of H 2 (ℝ)consisting of three intervals. Finally, we construct families of MSF wavelets of L 2 (ℝ)with Fourier transform even and not vanishing in any neighborhood of the origin.  相似文献

A sufficient condition is given when a subspaceLL 1(μ,X) of the space of Bochner integrable function, defined on a finite and positive measure space (S, Φ, μ) with values in a Banach spaceX, is locally uniformly convex renormable in terms of the integrable evaluations {∫ A fdμ;f∈L}. The Lie module of the group algebra F\mathfrakSn{{F\mathfrak{S}_n}} of the symmetric group is known to be not projective if and only if the characteristic p of F divides n. We show that in this case its non-projective summands belong to the principal block of F\mathfrakSn{{F\mathfrak{S}_n}} . Let V be a vector space of dimension m over F, and let L n (V) be the n-th homogeneous part of the free Lie algebra on V; this is a polynomial representation of GL m (F) of degree n, or equivalently, a module of the Schur algebra S(m, n). Our result implies that, when mn, every summand of L n (V) which is not a tilting module belongs to the principal block of S(m, n), by which we mean the block containing the n-th symmetric power of V.  相似文献

In this work, we characterize all subnormal operators quasi-similar to Sσ, the operators of the multiplication by z on R2(Ω,σ). We show that for a given v supported onΩ, Sv is quasi-similar to Sσif and only if v/■Ω■σ and log(dv/dσ)∈L1(σ). Our result extends a well-known result of Clary on the unit disk.  相似文献

Let T and S be invertible measure preserving transformations of a probability measure space (X, ℬ, μ). We prove that if the group generated by T and S is nilpotent, then exists in L 2-norm for any u, vL (X, ℬ, μ). We also show that for A∈ℬ with μ(A)>0 one has . By the way of contrast, we bring examples showing that if measure preserving transformations T, S generate a solvable group, then (i) the above limits do not have to exist; (ii) the double recurrence property fails, that is, for some A∈ℬ, μ(A)>0, one may have μ(AT -n AS - n A)=0 for all n∈ℕ. Finally, we show that when T and S generate a nilpotent group of class ≤c, in L 2(X) for all u, vL (X) if and only if T×S is ergodic on X×X and the group generated by T -1 S, T -2 S 2,..., T -c S c acts ergodically on X. Let ψ be a compactly supported closed differential form on the e[P] of the Borel–Serre boundary of an arithmetically defined locally symmetric space S. A closed compactly supported differential form E (ψ) on S is defined by a pseudo-Eisenstein series attached to ψ. Its degree is the degree of ψ shifted by the codimension of e[P] in S. Non-vanishing results for the cohomology class [E(ψ)] represented by E(ψ) are obtained by use of Poincaré duality and results on cohomology classes represented by ordinary Eisenstein series.
