We study the minimum number g(m,n) (respectively, p(m,n)) of pieces needed to dissect a regular m-gon into a regular n-gon of the same area using glass-cuts (respectively, polygonal cuts). First we study regular polygon-square dissections and show that n/2 -2 g(4,n) (n/2) + o(n) and n/4 g(n,4) (n/2) + o(n) hold for sufficiently large n. We also consider polygonal cuts, i.e., the minimum number p(4,n) of pieces needed to dissect a square into a regular n-gon of the same area using polygonal cuts and show that n/4 p(4,n) (n/2) + o(n) holds for sufficiently large n. We also consider regular polygon-polygon dissections and obtain similar bounds for g(m,n) and p(m,n).  相似文献

In this paper, we prove that the Hardy spaceH p (), 1p<, over a strictly pseudoconvex domain in n with smooth boundary is quasi-coherent. More precisely, we show that Toeplitz tuplesT with suitable symbols onH p () have property (). Summary We study a class of generalized gamma functions k (z) which relate to the generalized Euler constants k (basically the Laurent coefficients of(s)) as (z) does to the Euler constant. A new series expansion for k is derived, and the constant term in the asymptotic expansion for log k (z) is studied in detail. In a previous paper we proved a result which implies that, ify=x/2 k tends to infinity withk>2loglogx where >1, then the distribution of the numbers on the setS(x, k) converges to the normal distribution of Gauss. Individual work by Professors G. Choquet and G. T. Sallee demonstrated that if were simple then there existed a convex chord-stretched version of . This result led Professor Yang Lu to conjecture that if were convex and were a chord-stretched version of then and would be congruent, i.e. any chord-stretching map of a convex arc is an isometry. Professor Yang Lu has proved this conjecture in the case where and are C 2 curves. In this paper we prove the conjecture in general.  相似文献

Hardy-Littlewood [4] conjectured an asymptotic formula for the number of prime pairs (twin primes) (p, p+2d) with p+2dy, where d N is fixed and y . Up to now, no one has been able to prove this conjecture, but employing Hardy-Littlewoods circle method, Lavrik [5] showed that in a certain sense this formula holds true for almost-all dy/2.In the present paper, we use a completely different method to prove Lavriks almost-all result. Our method is based on an elementary approach developed by Pan Chengdong [7] to the twin primes problem. By a slight modification of our method, we get a corresponding almost-all result for the binary Goldbach problem. From this, according to [3], we derive Vinogradovs [8] well-known Three-Primes-Theorem.  相似文献

Let (Z,) be a chain and let (Z,) be its dual chain. Then the length l(Z) of (Z,) is the least upper bound of all cardinal numbers which can be order-embedded into (Z,) or (Z,). In particular, a chain is said to be short if its length is not greater than the smallest infinite cardinal. In this paper we shall prove that the cardinality |Z| of a chain (Z,) cannot be smaller than l(Z) and not greater than 2 l(Z). The inequality |Z|2 l(Z) is an immediate consequence of a general theorem which combines the structure of a chain with its length. In case of a short chain it follows that its structure may be rather complicated but that its cardinality cannot be greater than the cardinality of the real line.  相似文献
