Measurement of the Ce valence in the heavy fermion CeCu(2)Si(2) is reported for the first time under pressure and at low temperature (T=14 K) in proximity of the superconducting region. CeCu(2)Si(2) is considered as a strong candidate for a new type of pairing mechanism related to critical valence fluctuations which could set in at high pressure in the vicinity of the second superconducting dome. A quantitative estimate of the valence in this pressure region was achieved from the measurements of the Ce L(3) edge in the high-resolution partial-fluorescence yield mode and subsequent analysis of the spectra within the Anderson impurity model. While a clear increase of the Ce valence is found, the weak electron transfer and the continuous valence change under pressure suggests a crossover regime with the hypothetical valence line terminating at a critical end point T(cr) close to zero.  相似文献

The tetragonal heavy-fermion compound CeCu?Si? exhibits a superconducting ground state (S type, T(c) = 0.67 K) close to a magnetic instability. Here, we present angle-resolved resistivity measurements of the upper critical field H(c2). In-plane rotation of S-type CeCu?Si? single crystals reveals a fourfold oscillation of H(c2). An extended weak-coupling BCS model for a d-wave symmetry including strong Pauli-limiting effects confirms the aforementioned angular dependence and points towards d(xy) symmetry of the order parameter.  相似文献

We show that the recently observed spin resonance modes in heavy-fermion superconductors CeCoIn5 and CeCu2Si2 are magnetic excitons originating from superconducting quasiparticles. The wave vector Q of the resonance state leads to a powerful criterion for the symmetry and node positions of the unconventional gap function. The detailed analysis of the superconducting feedback on magnetic excitations reveals that the symmetry of the superconducting gap corresponds to a singlet d_{x;{2}-y;{2}} state symmetry in both compounds. In particular this resolves the long-standing ambiguity of the gap symmetry in CeCoIn5. We demonstrate that in both superconductors the resonance peak shows a significant dispersion away from Q which can be checked experimentally. Our analysis reveals the similar origin of the resonance peaks in the two heavy-fermion superconductors and in layered cuprates.  相似文献

Neutron diffraction experiments have been performed on a magnetically ordered CeCu2Si2 single crystal exhibiting A-phase anomalies in specific heat and thermal expansion. Below T(N) approximately 0.8 K antiferromagnetic superstructure peaks have been detected. The propagation vector of the magnetic order appears to be determined by the topology of the Fermi surface of heavy quasiparticles as indicated by renormalized band-structure calculations. The observation of long-range incommensurate antiferromagnetic order as the nature of the A phase in CeCu2Si2 suggests that a spin-density-wave instability is the origin of the quantum critical point in CeCu2Si2.  相似文献

In the archetypal strongly correlated electron superconductor CeCu2Si2 and its Ge-substituted alloys CeCu2(Si1-xGex)2 two quantum phase transitions--one magnetic and one of so far unknown origin-can be crossed as a function of pressure. We examine the associated anomalous normal state by detailed measurements of the low temperature resistivity (rho) power-law exponent alpha. At the lower critical point (at pcl, 1相似文献

We present high-resolution photoemission spectroscopy studies on the Kondo resonance of the strongly correlated Ce system CeCu2Si2. By exploiting the thermal broadening of the Fermi edge we analyze position, spectral weight, and temperature dependence of the low-energy 4f spectral features, whose major weight lies above the Fermi level E(F). We also present theoretical predictions based on the single-impurity Anderson model using an extended noncrossing approximation, including all spin-orbit and crystal field splittings of the 4f states. The excellent agreement between theory and experiment provides strong evidence that the spectral properties of CeCu2Si2 can be described by single-impurity Kondo physics down to T approximately 5 K.  相似文献

Both CeCu2Si2 and YbRh2Si2 crystallize in the tetragonal ThCr2Si2 crystal structure. Recent neutron-scattering results on normal-state CeCu2Si2 reveal a slowing down of the quasielastic response which complies with the scaling expected for a quantum critical point (QCP) of itinerant, i.e., three-dimensional spin-density-wave (SDW), type. This interpretation is in full agreement with the non-Fermi-liquid behavior observed in transport and thermodynamic measurements. The momentum dependence of the magnetic excitation spectrum reveals two branches of an overdamped dispersive mode whose coupling to the heavy charge carriers is strongly retarded. These overdamped spin fluctuations are considered to be the driving force for superconductivity in CeCu2Si2 (Tc = 600 mK). The weak antiferromagnet YbRh2Si2 (TN = 70 mK) exhibits a magnetic-field-induced QCP at BN = 0.06 T (B⊥c). There is no indication of superconductivity down to T = 10 mK. The magnetic QCP appears to concur with a breakdown of the Kondo effect. Doping-induced variations of the average unit-cell volume result in a detachment of the magnetic and electronic instabilities. A comparison of the properties of these isostructural compounds suggests that 3D SDW QCPs are favorable for unconventional superconductivity. The question whether a Kondo-breakdown QCP may also give rise to superconductivity, however, remains to be clarified.  相似文献

We report low-temperature specific-heat studies on the single-crystalline ternary-iron silicide superconductor Lu(2)Fe(3)Si(5) with T(c)=6.1 K down to approximately T(c)/20. We confirm a reduced normalized jump in specific heat at T(c), and find that the specific heat divided by temperature C/T shows a sudden drop at approximately T(c)/5 and goes to zero with further decreasing temperature. These results indicate the presence of two distinct superconducting gaps in Lu(2)Fe(3)Si(5), similar to the typical two-gap superconductor MgB(2). We also report Hall coefficients, band structure calculations, and the anisotropy of upper critical fields for Lu(2)Fe(3)Si(5), which support the anisotropic multiband nature and reinforce the existence of two superconducting gaps in Lu(2)Fe(3)Si(5).  相似文献

Recent improvements in momentum resolution lead to qualitatively new angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy results on the spectra of Bi(2)Sr(2)CaCu(2)O(8+delta) (Bi2212) along the (pi,pi) direction, where there is a node in the superconducting gap. We now see the intrinsic line shape, which indicates the presence of true quasiparticles at all Fermi momenta in the superconducting state, and lack thereof in the normal state. The region of momentum space probed here is relevant for charge transport, motivating a comparison of our results to conductivity measurements by infrared reflectivity.  相似文献

In materials without an inversion center of symmetry the spin degeneracy of the conducting band is lifted by an antisymmetric spin orbit coupling (ASOC). Under such circumstances, spin and parity cannot be separately used to classify the Cooper pairing states. Consequently, the superconducting order parameter is generally a mixture of spin singlet and triplet pairing states. In this paper we investigate the structure of the order parameter and its response to disorder for the most symmetric pairing state (A1). Using the example of the heavy Fermion superconductor CePt3Si, we determine characteristic properties of the superconducting instability. Depending on the type of the pairing interaction, the gap function is characterized by the presence of line nodes. We show that this line nodes move in general upon temperature. Such nodes would be essential to explain recent low-temperature data of thermodynamic quantities such as the NMR-T1 -1, London penetration depth, and heat conductance. Moreover, we study the effect of (non-magnetic) impurity on the superconducting state.  相似文献

We use angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy to investigate the energy gap(s) in (Bi,Pb)2(Sr,La)2CuO6+delta. We find that the spectral gap has two components in the superconducting state: a superconducting gap and pseudogap. Differences in their momentum and temperature dependence suggest that they represent two separate energy scales. Spectra near the node reveal a sharp peak with a small gap below T(c) that closes at T(c). Near the antinode, spectra are broad with a large energy gap of approximately 40 meV above and below T(c). The latter spectral shape and gap magnitude are almost constant across T(c), indicating that the pseudogap state coexists with the superconducting state below T(c), and it dominates spectra around the antinode. We speculate that the pseudogap state competes with the superconductivity by diminishing spectral weight in antinodal regions, where the superconducting gap is largest.  相似文献

To identify the superconducting gap structure in URu2Si2, we perform field-angle-dependent specific heat measurements for the two principal orientations in addition to field rotations, and a theoretical analysis based on microscopic calculations. The Sommerfeld coefficient gamma(H)'s in the mixed state exhibit a distinctly different field dependence. This comes from point nodes and the substantial Pauli paramagnetic effect of URu2Si2. These two features combined give rise to a consistent picture of superconducting properties, including a possible first order transition of Hc2 at low temperatures.  相似文献

The specific heat of the layered organic superconductor kappa-(BEDT-TTF)(2)Cu(NCS)(2), where BEDT-TTF is bisethylenedithio-tetrathiafulvalene, has been studied in magnetic fields up to 28 T applied perpendicular and parallel to the superconducting layers. In parallel fields above 21 T, the superconducting transition becomes first order, which signals that the Pauli-limiting field is reached. Instead of saturating at this field value, the upper-critical-field increases sharply and a second first-order transition line appears within the superconducting phase. Our results give strong evidence that the phase, which separates the homogeneous superconducting state from the normal state is a realization of a Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov state.  相似文献

The unusual superconducting state in Sr(2)RuO(4) has long been viewed as being analogous to a superfluid state in liquid (3)He. Nevertheless, calculations based on this odd-parity state are presently unable to completely reconcile the properties of Sr(2)RuO(4). Using a self-consistent quantum many-body scheme that employs realistic parameters, we are able to model several signature properties of the normal and superconducting states of Sr(2)RuO(4). We find that the dominant component of the model superconducting state is of even parity and closely related to superconducting state for the high-T(c) cuprates although a smaller odd-parity component is induced by spin-orbit coupling. This mixed pairing state gives a more complete representation of the complex phenomena measured in Sr(2)RuO(4).  相似文献

We show that the charge and thermal transport measurements on ultraclean crystals of URu2Si2 reveal a number of unprecedented superconducting properties. The uniqueness is best highlighted by the peculiar field dependence of thermal conductivity including the first-order transition at Hc2 with a reduction of entropy flow. This is a consequence of multiband superconductivity with compensated electronic structure in the hidden order state of this system. We provide strong evidence for a new type of unconventional superconductivity with two distinct gaps having different nodal topology.  相似文献

We report transverse-field and zero-field muon spin rotation and relaxation studies of the superconducting rhenium oxide pyrochlore, Cd2Re2O7. Transverse-field measurements (H=0.007 T) show line broadening below T(c), which is characteristic of a vortex state, demonstrating conclusively the type-II nature of this superconductor. The penetration depth is seen to level off below about 400 mK (T/T(c) approximately 0.4), with a rather large value of lambda(T=0) approximately 7500 A. The temperature independent behavior below approximately 400 mK is consistent with a nodeless superconducting energy gap. Zero-field measurements indicate no static magnetic fields developing below the transition temperature.  相似文献

Angle-resolved photoemission data in the superconducting state of Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+delta show a kink in the dispersion along the zone diagonal, which is related via a Kramers-Kr?nig analysis to a drop in the low energy scattering rate. As one moves towards (pi,0), this kink evolves into a spectral dip. The occurrence of these anomalies in the dispersion and line shape throughout the zone indicates the presence of a new energy scale in the superconducting state.  相似文献

A topological superconductor (TSC) is characterized by the topologically protected gapless surface state that is essentially an Andreev bound state consisting of Majorana fermions. While a TSC has not yet been discovered, the doped topological insulator Cu(x)Bi(2)Se(3), which superconducts below ~3 K, has been predicted to possess a topological superconducting state. We report that the point-contact spectra on the cleaved surface of superconducting Cu(x)Bi(2)Se(3) present a zero-bias conductance peak (ZBCP) which signifies unconventional superconductivity. Theoretical considerations of all possible superconducting states help us conclude that this ZBCP is due to Majorana fermions and gives evidence for a topological superconductivity in Cu(x)Bi(2)Se(3). In addition, we found an unusual pseudogap that develops below ~20 K and coexists with the topological superconducting state.  相似文献

We report (11)B and (195)Pt NMR measurements in noncentrosymmetric superconductor Li(2)Pt(3)B. We find that the spin susceptibility measured by the Knight shift remains unchanged across the superconducting transition temperature T(c). With decreasing temperature (T) below T(c), the spin-lattice relaxation rate 1/T(1) decreases with no coherence peak and is in proportion to T3. These results indicate that the Cooper pair is in the spin-triplet state and that there exist line nodes in the superconducting gap function. They are in sharp contrast to those in the isostructural Li(2)Pd(3)B which is a spin-singlet, s-wave superconductor, and are ascribed to the enhanced spin-orbit coupling due to the lack of spatial inversion symmetry. Our finding points to a new paradigm where exotic superconductivity arises in the absence of electron-electron correlations.  相似文献
