An experimental approach was developed to determine the intrinsic thermolysis rate constants of the central carbon–carbon bond during the dl/meso isomerization of diethyl 2,3‐dicyano‐2,3‐di(p‐substituted phenyl)succinates (G=H, Me, OMe, Cl, and NO2) at temperatures ranging from 80 to 120 °C. The obtained rate constants are significantly affected by the polarity of the para substituents, in sharp contrast to their negligible effects on the dl/meso isomerization equilibrium constants. Moreover, the substituent effects on the activation enthalpies can be linearly correlated with the Hammett substituent resonance constants and the homolytic dissociation enthalpies (bond dissociation energies) of the benzylic C–H bonds of ethyl 2‐cyano‐2‐(p‐substituted phenyl)acetates. The kinetics of the reactions of 2,4‐dinitrofluorobenzene (DNFB) and 2,4‐dinitrochlorobenzene (DNClB) with 2‐guanidinobenzimidazole (2‐GB) at 40 ± 0.2 °C in dimethylsulphoxide (DMSO), toluene, and in toluene–DMSO mixtures, and with 1‐(2‐aminoethyl)piperidine (2‐AEPip) and N‐(3‐aminopropyl)morpholine (3‐APMo) in toluene at 25 ± 0.2 °C were studied under pseudo first‐order conditions. For the reactions of 2‐GB carried out in pure DMSO, the second‐order rate coefficients were independent of the amine concentration. In contrast, the reactions of 2‐GB with DNFB in toluene, showed a kinetic behaviour consistent with a base‐catalysed decomposition of the zwitterionic intermediate. These results suggest an intramolecular H‐bonding of 2‐GB in toluene, which is not present in DMSO. To confirm this interpretation the reactions were studied in DMSO–toluene mixtures. Small amounts of DMSO produce significant increase in rate that is not expected on the basis of the classical effect of a dipolar aprotic medium; the effect is consistent with the formation of a nucleophile/co‐solvent mixed aggregate. For the reactions of 3‐APMo with both substrates in toluene, the second‐order rate coefficients, kA, show a linear dependence on the [amine]. 3‐APMo is able to form a six‐membered ring by an intramolecular H‐bond which prevents the formation of self‐aggregates. In contrast, a third order was observed in the reactions with 2‐AEPip: these results can be interpreted as a H‐bonded homo‐aggregate of the amine acting as a better nucleophile than the monomer. Most of these results can be well explained within the frame of the ‘dimer nucleophile’ mechanism. Copyright © 2010 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The kinetics of the gas‐phase elimination of α‐methyl‐trans‐cinamaldehyde catalyzed by HCl in the temperature range of 399.0–438.7 °C, and the pressure range of 38–165 Torr is a homogeneous, molecular, pseudo first‐order process and undergoing a parallel reaction to produce via (A) α‐methylstyrene and CO gas and via (B) β‐methylstyrene and CO gas. The decomposition of substrate E‐2‐methyl‐2‐pentenal was performed in the temperature range of 370.0–410.0 °C and the pressure range of 44–150 Torr also undergoing a molecular, pseudo first‐order reaction gives E‐2‐pentene and CO gas. These reactions were carried out in a static system seasoned reactions vessels and in the presence of toluene free radical inhibitor. The rate coefficients are given by the following Arrhenius expressions:
  • Products formation from α‐methyl‐trans‐cinamaldehyde
  • α‐methylstyrene :
  • β‐methylstyrene :
  • Products formation from E‐2‐methyl‐2‐pentenal
  • E‐2‐pentene :
The kinetic and thermodynamic parameters for the thermal decomposition of α‐methyl‐trans‐cinamaldehyde suggest that via (A) proceeds through a bicyclic transition state type of mechanism to yield α‐methylstyrene and carbon monoxide, whereas via (B) through a five‐membered cyclic transition state to give β‐methylstyrene and carbon monoxide. However, the elimination of E‐2‐methyl‐2‐pentenal occurs by way of a concerted cyclic five‐membered transition state mechanism producing E‐2‐pentene and carbon monoxide. The present results support that uncatalyzed α‐β‐unsaturated aldehydes decarbonylate through a three‐membered cyclic transition state type of mechanism. A homogeneous, molecular, gas‐phase elimination kinetics of 2‐phenyl‐2‐propanol and 3‐methyl‐1‐ buten‐3‐ol catalyzed by hydrogen chloride in the temperature range 325–386 °C and pressure range 34–149 torr are described. The rate coefficients are given by the following Arrhenius equations: for 2‐phenyl‐2‐propanol log k1 (s?1) = (11.01 ± 0.31) ? (109.5 ± 2.8) kJ mol?1 (2.303 RT)?1 and for 3‐methyl‐1‐buten‐3‐ol log k1 (s?1) = (11.50 ± 0.18) ? (116.5 ± 1.4) kJ mol?1 (2.303 RT)?1. Electron delocalization of the CH2?CH and C6H5 appears to be an important effect in the rate enhancement of acid catalyzed tertiary alcohols in the gas phase. A concerted six‐member cyclic transition state type of mechanism appears to be, as described before, a rational interpretation for the dehydration process of these substrates. In this paper, a method of preparation of ocimene is investigated, which is obtained from isomerization reaction of α‐pinene. Two kinds of experimental apparatus are established for the investigation of the thermal isomerization reaction of α‐pinene. The behavior of thermal isomerization reaction of α‐pinene is respectively discussed in the gas phase and in the liquid phase. Under gas phase conditions, the conversion of α‐pinene is 80% and the selectivity of ocimene is 30%–33%. Under liquid phase conditions, the conversion of α‐pinene is 60% and the selectivity of ocimene is 50%–54%. According to the kinetic‐molecular theory of ideal gases, two kinds of reaction models are proposed to visualize the reaction process. In addition, the mechanism and kinetics of thermal isomerization reaction of α‐pinene are respectively discussed. The conclusion is that the gas phase reaction temperature is calculated to be 390–450 °C and the liquid phase reaction temperature is calculated to be 450–550 °C. From a bond dissociation energy point of view, results support the hypothesis that the reaction involves biradical intermediates. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The first conformational analysis of 3‐silathiane and its C‐substituted derivatives, namely, 3,3‐dimethyl‐3‐silathiane 1 , 2,3,3‐trimethyl‐3‐silathiane 2 , and 2‐trimethylsilyl‐3,3‐dimethyl‐3‐silathiane 3 was performed by using dynamic NMR spectroscopy and B3LYP/6‐311G(d,p) quantum chemical calculations. From coalescence temperatures, ring inversion barriers ΔG for 1 and 2 were estimated to be 6.3 and 6.8 kcal/mol, respectively. These values are considerably lower than that of thiacyclohexane (9.4 kcal/mol) but slightly higher than the one of 1,1‐dimethylsilacyclohexane (5.5 kcal/mol). The conformational free energy for the methyl group in 2 (?ΔG° = 0.35 kcal/mol) derived from low‐temperature 13C NMR data is fairly consistent with the calculated value. For compound 2 , theoretical calculations give ΔE value close to zero for the equilibrium between the 2 ‐Meax and 2 ‐Meeq conformers. The calculated equatorial preference of the trimethylsilyl group in 3 is much more pronounced (?ΔG° = 1.8 kcal/mol) and the predominance of the 3 ‐SiMe3 eq conformer at room temperature was confirmed by the simulated 1H NMR and 2D NOESY spectra. The effect of the 2‐substituent on the structural parameters of 2 and 3 is discussed. Copyright © 2010 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

A kinetic investigation in methanol of the title reaction has evidenced the occurrence of two processes: the 1‐ E 1‐ Z isomerization and the rearrangement of the (Z)‐isomer into the relevant 4‐benzoylamino‐2,5‐diphenyl‐1,2,3‐triazole ( 1‐ Z → T ). The latter reaction is in line with the ability of the (Z)‐phenylhydrazones of 3‐benzoyl‐1,2,4‐oxadiazoles to undergo the so called mononuclear rearrangement of heterocycles (MRH). The occurrence of both the examined reactions is dependent on a Lewis‐acid‐catalysis. The obtained results have shown the possibility of a ‘new’ type of acid‐catalysis (bifunctional catalysis by Lewis salts) in the MRH. This catalysis operates through a completely different mechanism with respect to the one recently observed, and deeply investigated, in the presence of protic acids for the (Z)‐phenylhydrazone of 5‐amino‐3‐benzoyl‐1,2,4‐oxadiazole, in both dioxane/water and toluene, for which the catalytic process was dependent on the protonation of N(4) ring‐nitrogen of the 1,2,4‐oxadiazole. As a matter of fact, the copper salts seem able to interact with the >C?N? NH? C6H5 moiety, yielding adducts which, in some cases, are prone to both isomerize and rearrange. Therefore, a similar behaviour in some manner parallel to that already observed in benzene in the presence of aliphatic amines (base‐catalysis) has been evidenced. In the present paper, reaction of zinc‐glycylphenylalanine ([Zn(II)‐Gly‐Phe]+) with ninhydrin has been investigated in gemini (m‐s‐m type; m = 16, s = 4–6) surfactants at temperature (70 °C) and pH (5.0). Monitoring the appearance of product at 400 nm was used to follow the kinetics, spectrophotometrically. The order of the reaction with respect to [Zn(II)‐Gly‐Phe]+ was unity while with respect to [ninhydrin] was fractional. The reaction constants involved in the mechanism were obtained. In addition to the rate constant (kΨ) increase and leveling‐off regions are observed with the geminis, just like as seen with conventional surfactant hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB), the former produced a third region of increasing kΨ at higher concentrations. A close agreement between observed and calculated rate constants was found under varying experimental conditions. A suitable mechanism consistent with the experimental findings has been proposed. Solvent, temperature, and high pressure influence on the rate constant of homo‐Diels–Alder cycloaddition reactions of the very active hetero‐dienophile, 4‐phenyl‐1,2,4‐triazolin‐3,5‐dione (1), with the very inactive unconjugated diene, bicyclo[2,2,1]hepta‐2,5‐diene (2), and of 1 with some substituted anthracenes have been studied. The rate constants change amounts to about seven orders of magnitude: from 3.95.10?3 for reaction (1+2) to 12200 L mol?1 s?1 for reaction of 1 with 9,10‐dimethylanthracene (4e) in toluene solution at 298 K. A comparison of the reactivity (ln k2) and the heat of reactions (?r‐nH) of maleic anhydride, tetracyanoethylene and of 1 with several dienes has been performed. The heat of reaction (1+2) is ?218 ± 2 kJ mol?1, of 1 with 9,10‐dimethylanthracene ?117.8 ± 0.7 kJ mol?1, and of 1 with 9,10‐dimethoxyanthracene ?91.6 ±0.2 kJ mol?1. From these data, it follows that the exothermicity of reaction (1+2) is higher than that with 1,3‐butadiene. However, the heat of reaction of 9,10‐dimethylanthracene with 1 (?117.8 kJ mol?1) is nearly the same as that found for the reaction with the structural C=C counterpart, N‐phenylmaleimide (?117.0 kJ mol?1). Since the energy of the N=N bond is considerably lower (418 kJ/bond) than that of the C=C bond (611 kJ/bond), it was proposed that this difference in the bond energy can generate a lower barrier of activation in the Diels–Alder cycloaddition reaction with 1. Linear correlation (R = 0.94) of the solvent effect on the rate constants of reaction (1+2) and on the heat of solution of 1 has been observed. The ratio of the volume of activation (?V) and the volume of reaction (?Vr‐n) of the homo‐Diels–Alder reaction (1+2) is considered as “normal”: ?V/?Vr‐n = ?25.1/?30.95 = 0.81. Hydrolytic reactions of cyclic bis(3′‐5′)diadenylic acid (c‐di‐AMP) have been followed by Reversed phase high performance liquid chromatography (RP‐HPLC) over a wide pH range at 90 °C. Under neutral and basic conditions (pH ≥ 7), disappearance of the starting material (first‐order in [OH?]) was accompanied by formation of a mixture of adenosine 2′‐monophosphate and 3′‐monophosphate (2′‐AMP and 3′‐AMP). Under very acidic conditions (from H0 = ?0.7 to 0.2), c‐di‐AMP undergoes two parallel reactions (first‐order in [H+]): the starting material is cleaved to 2′‐AMP and 3′‐AMP and depurinated to adenine (i.e., cleavage of the N‐glycosidic bond), the former reaction being slightly faster than the latter one. At pH 1–3, isomerization to cyclic bis(2′‐5′)diadenylic acid competes with the depurination. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

VO2 single crystals with unprecedented quality, exhibiting a first‐order metal–insulator transition (MIT) at 67.8 °C and an insulatorinsulator transition (IIT) at ~49 °C, are grown using a self‐flux evaporation method. Using synchrotron‐based X‐ray microdiffraction analysis, it is shown that the IIT is related to a structural phase transition (SPT) from the monoclinic M2 phase to the M1 phase upon heating while the MIT occurs together with a SPT of M1 to the rutile R phase. All previous reports have shown that VO2 exists in the M1 phase at room temperature in contrast to the M2 phase observed in this work. We suggest that internal strain inside single crystal VO2 may generate the previously unobserved IIT and the unusual room temperature structure. (© 2011 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. The aminoxyl radical 6‐trifluoromethyl‐benzotriazol‐N‐oxyl (TFNO) has been generated from the parent hydroxylamine 6‐CF3‐1‐hydroxy‐benzotriazole (TFBT) by one‐electron oxidation with a CeIV salt and characterized by spectrophotometry and cyclic voltammetry (CV). Rate constants of H‐abstraction (kH) by TFNO from a number of H‐donor benzylic substrates have been determined spectrophotometrically in MeCN solution at 25 °C. A radical H‐atom transfer (HAT) route of oxidation is substantiated for TFNO by several pieces of evidence. The kinetic data also testify the relevance of stereoelectronic effects upon the HAT reactivity of TFNO. Copyright © 2010 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The mechanism of sulfurization of substituted triphenylphosphines with 4‐(3‐ and 4‐substituted)‐1,2,4‐dithiazolidine‐3,5‐diones in acetonitrile, dichloromethane, tetrahydrofuran and toluene at 25 °C was studied. The reaction pathway involves rate‐limiting initial nucleophilic attack of the phosphorus at sulfur followed by fast decomposition of the phosphonium intermediate to the corresponding phosphine sulfide, phenylisocyanate and carbonylsulfide. From the Hammett correlations and from the solvent dependency, it was concluded that the transition‐state structure is very polar and resembles the zwitter‐ionic intermediate. The extent of P–S bond formation and S–S bond cleavage is very similar in the solvents series, but the latter gradually decreases with the decreasing polarity of the solvent. Nucleophilic substitution and dehydrochlorination reactions of a number of the ring‐substituted 1‐(arylsulfonyl)‐2‐R‐4‐chloro‐2‐butenes are studied both experimentally and theoretically. The developed synthetic procedures are characterized by a general rapidity, cheapness, and simplicity providing moderate to high yields of 1‐arylsulfonyl 1,3‐butadienes (48–95%), 1‐(arylsulfonyl)‐2‐R‐4‐(N,N‐dialkylamino)‐2‐butenes (31–53%), 1‐(arylsulfonyl)‐2‐R‐2‐buten‐4‐ols (37–61%), and bis[4‐(arylsulfonyl)‐3‐R‐but‐2‐enyl]sulfides (40–70%). The density functional theory B3LYP/6‐311++G(2d,2p) calculations of the intermediate allylic cations in acetone revealed their high stability occurring from a resonance stabilization and hyperconjugation by the SO2Ar group. The reactivity parameters estimated at the bond critical points of the diene/allylic moiety display a high correlation (R2 > 0.97) with the Hammett (σp) constants. 1‐Arylsulfonyl 1,3‐butadienes are characterized by a partly broken π conjugated system, which follows from analysis of the two‐centered delocalization (δ) and localization (λ) index values. The highest occupied molecular orbital energies of 1‐arylsulfonyl 1,3‐butadienes are lower than those of 1,3‐butadiene explaining their low reactivity towards the Diels–Alder condensation. X‐ray diffraction (XRD) studies have shown that 2‐piperidyl‐5‐nitro‐6‐methylpyridine, C11H15N3O2, undergoes a structural phase transition at T = 240 K. The room temperature structure is tetragonal, space group I41/a, with the unit‐cell dimensions a = 13.993(2) and c = 23.585(5) Å. The pyridine ring takes trans conformation with respect to the piperidine unit. While pyridine is well ordered, the piperidine moiety shows apparent disorder resulting from a libration about the linking N C bond. The low‐temperature phase is monoclinic, space group I2/a. Contraction of the unit‐cell volume by 2.3% at 170 K enables the C H···O linkage between the molecules of the neighbouring stacks. As result, the asymmetric unit becomes bi‐molecular. The thermal librations of the piperidine and methyl groups become considerably reduced at 170 K and nearly fully reduced at about 100 K. The IR spectra and polarised Raman spectra agree with the X‐ray structure and confirm the disorder effect on the piperidine ring. The assignment of the bands observed was made on the basis of DFT chemical quantum calculations. Copyright © 2008 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The self‐association and tautomerism of (E)‐isatin‐3‐4‐phenyl(semicarbazone) Ia and (E)‐N‐methylisatin‐3‐4‐phenyl(semicarbazone) IIa were investigated in solvents of various polarity. In weakly interacting non‐polar solvents, such as CHCl3 and benzene, phenylsemicarbazone concentrations above 1×10?5 mol dm?3 result in the formation of dimers or higher aggregates of E‐isomers Ia and IIa . This aggregate formation prevents room temperature E–Z isomerization of Ia and IIa to more stable Z‐isomers. In contrast to the situation in non‐polar solvents, E–Z isomerization from the monomeric form of phenylsemicarbazone Ia and IIa E‐isomers occurs in highly interactive polar solvents including MeOH and DMF only at temperatures above 70 °C. Moreover, decrease in phenylsemicarbazone concentration below 1×10?4 mol dm?3 in these highly solute–solvent interacting systems leads to aggregate dissociation, and a new hydrazonol tautomeric form with a high degree of conjugation predominates in these solutions. Theoretical calculations confirm obtained experimental results. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Solvolysis rates of 2‐(aryldimethylsilyl)‐1‐methylethyl and 2‐(aryldimethylsilyl)‐1‐tert‐butylethyl trifluoroacetates were determined conductimetrically in 60% (v/v) aqueous ethanol. The effects of aryl substituents at the silicon atom on the solvolysis rates at 50 °C were correlated with parameters of r+ = 0.15 with the Yukawa–Tsuno equation, giving ρ values of ?1.5 for both secondary α‐Me and αtert‐Bu systems. The ρ values for those secondary systems are less negative than ?1.75 for the 2‐(aryldimethylsilyl)ethyl system that proceeds by the Eaborn (non‐vertical) mechanism, while they are distinctly more negative than ?0.99 for 2‐(aryldimethylsilyl)‐1‐phenylethyl system that should proceed by the Lambert (vertical) mechanism. There was a fairly linear relationship between the reaction constants (ρ) for the β‐silyl substituent effects and the solvolysis reactivities for a series of β‐silyl substrates. The solvolyses of the α‐Me and tert‐Bu substrates proceed through the transition state (TS) with an appreciable degree of the β‐silyl participation, close to the Eaborn (non‐vertical) TS rather than to the Lambert (vertical) TS. The gas‐phase elimination kinetics of the title compounds were carried out in a static reaction system and seasoned with allyl bromide. The working temperature and pressure ranges were 200–280 °C and 22–201.5 Torr, respectively. The reactions are homogeneous, unimolecular, and follow a first‐order rate law. These substrates produce isobutene and corresponding carbamic acid in the rate‐determining step. The unstable carbamic acid intermediate rapidly decarboxylates through a four‐membered cyclic transition state (TS) to give the corresponding organic nitrogen compound. The temperature dependence of the rate coefficients is expressed by the following Arrhenius equations: for tert‐butyl carbamate logk1 (s?1) = (13.02 ± 0.46) – (161.6 ± 4.7) kJ/mol(2.303 RT)?1, for tert‐butyl N‐hydroxycarbamate logk1 (s?1) = (12.52 ± 0.11) – (147.8 ± 1.1) kJ/mol(2.303 RT)?1, and for 1‐(tert‐butoxycarbonyl)‐imidazole logk1 (s?1) = (11.63 ± 0.21)–(134.9 ± 2.0) kJ/mol(2.303 RT)?1. Theoretical studies of these elimination were performed at Møller–Plesset MP2/6‐31G and DFT B3LYP/6‐31G(d), B3LYP/6‐31G(d,p) levels of theory. The calculated bond orders, NBO charges, and synchronicity (Sy) indicate that these reactions are concerted, slightly asynchronous, and proceed through a six‐membered cyclic TS type. Results for estimated kinetic and thermodynamic parameters are discussed in terms of the proposed reaction mechanism and TS structure. Copyright © 2007 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The rates of gas‐phase elimination of several β‐substituted diethyl acetals have been determined in a static system and seasoned with allyl bromide. The reactions, inhibited with toluene, are homogeneous, unimolecular, and follow first‐order law kinetics. These elimination processes involve two parallel reactions. The first parallel reaction yields ethanol and the corresponding ethyl vinyl ether. The latter product is an unstable intermediate and further decomposes to ethylene and the corresponding substituted aldehyde. The second parallel reaction gives ethane and the corresponding ethyl ester. The kinetics has been measured over the temperature range of 370–441 °C and pressure range of 23–160 torr. The rate coefficients are given by the following Arrhenius equations: The differences in the rates of ethanol formation may be attributed to electronic transmission of the β‐substituent. The comparative kinetic and thermodynamic parameters of the parallel reactions suggest two different concerted polar four‐membered cyclic transition state types of mechanisms.
