The synthesis of a porphyrin compound, 1, containing a 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline moiety that is fused at the beta-pyrrole positions is reported. The absorption spectra of the free-base, copper(II), and zinc(II) derivatives have been studied. On the basis of absorption band intensities, the HOMO of the free base (H21) and its copper and zinc complexes (Cu1 and Zn1) was determined to be of a1u symmetry. Relative to H21, compounds Cul and Znl show enhanced spectral changes upon external metal ion binding. Although the HOMO is the same in all three compounds, the energy gap between the two highest occupied orbitals is greater for Cu1 and Zn1 than it is for the free-base compound. Several metal ions (Ni2+, Cu+, Cu2+, Zn2+, Li+) were examined in their binding to the phenanthrolinic group by measuring the resulting changes in the absorption spectra. It is shown that the observed changes in the absorption spectra are insensitive to the nature of the metal ion coordinated by the phenanthroline moiety. Significant differences in the absorption and emission spectra between Zn1 and [Zn(Zn1)2]2+ clearly demonstrate that the porphyrin pi-system is strongly affected by the binding of metal ions at the fused phenanthrolinic moiety.  相似文献

A new concept of charge stabilization via delocalization of the pi-cation radical species over the donor macrocycle substituents in a relatively simple donor-acceptor bearing multimodular conjugates is reported. The newly synthesized multimodular systems were composed of three covalently linked triphenylamine entities at the meso position of the porphyrin ring and one fulleropyrrolidine at the fourth meso position. The triphenylamine entities were expected to act as energy transferring antenna units and to enhance the electron donating ability of both free-base and zinc(II) porphyrin derivatives of these pentads. Appreciable electronic interactions between the meso-substituted triphenylamine entities and the porphyrin pi-system were observed, and as a consequence, these moieties acted together as an electron-donor while the fullerene moiety acted as an electron-acceptor in the multimodular conjugates. In agreement with the spectral and electrochemical results, the computational studies performed by the DFT B3LYP/3-21G(*) method revealed delocalization of the frontier highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) over the triphenylamine entities in addition to the porphyrin macrocycle. Free-energy calculations suggested that the light-induced processes from the singlet excited state of porphyrins are exothermic in the investigated multimodular conjugates. The occurrence of photoinduced charge-separation and charge-recombination processes was confirmed by the combination of time-resolved fluorescence and nanosecond transient absorption spectral measurements. Charge-separated states, on the order of a few microseconds, were observed as a result of the delocalization of the pi-cation radical species over the porphyrin macrocycle and the meso-substituted triphenylamine entities. The present study successfully demonstrates a novel approach of charge-stabilization in donor-acceptor multimodular conjugates.  相似文献

Single crystals of tetrakis(thiadiazole)porphyrazine and the corresponding metal(II) derivatives, MTTDPz (M=H2, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, and Zn) were grown by sublimation under reduced pressure with continuous N2 gas flow. Their structures, obtained by X-ray crystallographic analysis, depend significantly on the central metal ion, and the M=Ni and Cu derivatives exhibit polymorphism. They can be classified into three forms, alpha, beta, and gamma. The alpha form (M=H2, Ni, and Cu) is composed of two-dimensional hexagonal close packing formed by side-by-side contacts between thiadiazole rings, whereas the beta form (M=Fe, Co, and Zn) crystallizes into a one-dimensional coordination polymer. The gamma form (M=Ni and Cu) consists of a ladder structure caused by pi stacking, similar to the beta form of phthalocyanine, and by side-by-side contacts between thiadiazole rings. Although the crystal structures of the MTTDPz series exhibited multi-dimensional network structures, magnetic measurements revealed relatively weak exchange interactions, probably reflecting the long distances between the metal ions.  相似文献

Porphyrin (P), porphycene (Pc), corrphycene (Cn), and hemiporphycene (Hpc) represent a series of well defined "4-N in" constitutional porphyrin isomers. These isomers, in the form of their octaethyl derivatives, represent a congruent set of porphyrinoids whose properties can be compared. In this study we report how variations in electronic structure and nitrogen-core size in the free-base forms of these four systems are reflected in the properties of their corresponding metal complexes. Specifically, the effects that these differences have on the axial ligation properties of the Zn(II), Mg(II), Ni(II), and Co(II) complexes of P, Pc, Cn, and Hpc in toluene using pyridine as the axial ligand are detailed. Also reported are the relative stabilities of these complexes under acidic conditions. It is shown that for the zinc, magnesium, and cobalt complexes, there are distinct differences in the ability to maintain four-, five-, or six-coordinate geometries in the presence of similar concentrations of pyridine. By contrast, no apparent differences in axial ligand binding affinity are seen for the four nickel complexes. Little difference in stability was likewise seen when these same complexes were subject to acid-mediated demetallation, with all four falling into stability class II, according to the accepted porphyrin stability ranking system. High stabilities were also seen in the case of the cobalt complexes, with the Pc and Cn complexes being of stability class III and the P and Hpc derivatives falling into stability class II. The Zn(II) and Mg(II) complexes were all far less stable than the corresponding Ni(II) and Co(II) complexes. In this case, semiquantitative analyses of the rate of acid-induced decomposition revealed the following stability sequence P>Cn>Hpc>Pc for both the Zn(II) and Mg(II) complexes. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction structures were solved for the Zn(II), Mg(II), and Ni(II) complexes of the octaethyl derivatives of Hpc, Cn, and Pc as well as a Co(II) octamethylcorrphycene and are reported as part of this study. These solid-state structures confirm four-coordinate species for the Ni(II) complexes, four- and five-coordinate species for the Mg(II) and Zn(II) complexes, and a six-coordinate species for the lone Co(II) complex.  相似文献

The synthesis and properties of novel anthracene-bridged porphyrin dimers having an oxomolybdenum(V) porphyrin unit, H(2)(DPA)[Mo(V)O(OMe)] (1) and (DPA)[Mo(V)O(OMe)][Zn(II)(MeOH)] (2), and the relevant monomer porphyrin complexes Mo(V)O(MPP)OMe (3) and Zn(II)(MPP) (4) are presented. An oxomolybdenum(V) unit was introduced into one of the two porphyrins in DPA to give 1, which has a free-base porphyrin unit. By introducing a zinc(II) ion to the free-base part, a mixed-metal complex of 2 was prepared and isolated. The structure of 2 was analyzed by X-ray crystallography (2.(7)/(6)CH(2)Cl(2), triclinic, P(-)1 (no. 2), a = 15.2854(12) A, b = 19.9640(15) A, c = 13.6915(12) A, alpha = 90.968(3), beta = 113.108(4), gamma = 96.501(4), Z = 2, R1 = 9.9, wR2 = 19.2). The structure of 2 demonstrated that a methanol is stably coordinated to the Zn(II) ion with the aid of a hydrogen bond to the methoxo ligand on the Mo(V) ion in the binding pocket of DPA. The electrochemical measurements of 2 suggested that the methanol was kept in the pocket of DPA in solution even at the reduced state of the molybdenum ion.  相似文献

The existence of sitting-atop metalloporphyrin complexes, the proposed intermediates in the metalation of free-base porphyrins, has been explored via the microscopic reverse reaction, i.e., protonation of metalloporphyrins with a strong acid. The reaction of M(Tp-TP) (M = Zn, Cu, Ni; Tp-TP = dianion of tetra-p-tolylporphyrin) with mesitylenium carborane salts produced only the demetalated porphyrin in its diprotonated form, [H4Tp-TP][carborane]2 (carborane = CHB11H5Cl6-, CHB11H5Br6-, CHB11Cl11-). In arene solvents, the H4Tp-TP2+ dication shows an unusually upfield shifted 1H NMR resonance at ca. -6 ppm, which X-ray crystallography reveals to arise from N-H- - -pi hydrogen bonding of the acidic protons to arene solvent molecules.  相似文献

A comparison of the structure, spectroscopy, and oxygen atom-transfer reactivity of cofacial bisporphyrins anchored by xanthene (DPX) and dibenzofuran (DPD) pillars is presented. The synthesis and characterization of dicopper(II) and dinickel(II) complexes of DPD completes a homologous series of homobimetallic zinc(II), copper(II), and nickel(II) complexes for both cofacial platforms. X-ray crystallographic analysis of the parent free-base porphyrins H(4)DPX (1) and H(4)DPD (5) confirms the face-to-face arrangement of the two porphyrin macrocycles with a large available range of vertical pocket sizes: 1 (C(80)H(92)Cl(2)N(8)O), triclinic, space group P1 macro, a = 13.5167(12) A, b = 21.7008(18) A, c = 23.808(2) A, alpha = 80.116(2) degrees, beta = 76.832(2) degrees, gamma = 80.4070(10) degrees, Z = 4; 5 (C(80)H(83)N(8)O(2)), monoclinic, space group C2/c, a = 22.666(2) A, b = 13.6749(14) A, c = 42.084(4) A, beta = 94.554(2) degrees, Z = 8. EPR spectroscopy of dicopper(II) derivatives Cu(2)DPX (3) and Cu(2)DPD (7) complements the crystallographic studies by probing intramolecular metal-metal arrangements in frozen solution. Exciton interactions between the porphyrin subunits in fluid solution are revealed by steady-state and time-resolved electronic absorption and emission spectroscopy. The resulting compilation of structural and spectroscopic data provides a benchmark for the use of these and related platforms for the activation of small-molecule substrates. A structure-function relation is developed for the photoinduced oxygen atom-transfer reactions of bisiron(III) mu-oxo derivatives of DPX and DPD. The efficiency of the photochemical process is markedly dependent (approximately 10(4)-fold) on the vertical flexibility of cofacial architecture provided by the spacer.  相似文献

In this paper, we reveal that the free-base and zinc strapped porphyrins possessing long alkyl chains, C 24OPP-HQ and Zn(C 24OPP-HQ), respectively, can be arranged on surfaces. We used scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) to observe alkyl-chain-assisted self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) of these strapped porphyrins at the solid-liquid interface. STM images revealed that the strapped benzene moiety was detectable on the porphyrin core: that is, the strapped porphyrins could be differentiated from nonstrapped analogues. We compared the population of the nonstrapped porphyrin (C 24OPP) and either of the strapped porphyrins C 24OPP-HQ or Zn(C 24OPP-HQ) in the mixed SAMs. We then confirmed that Zn(C 24OPP-HQ) is more favorably incorporated in the mixed SAMs than C 24OPP-HQ. From (1)H NMR spectroscopic and X-ray crystallographic analyses, we concluded that the factors increasing the population of Zn(C 24OPP-HQ) in the mixed SAMs are the enhanced rigidity of the porphyrin core by the zinc coordination and the flat structure of the porphyrin moiety in the saddle conformation. This study demonstrates that strapped porphyrins possessing long alkyl chains are available to arrange the functional modules on the surface via chemical modification on the strapped moiety.  相似文献

Chiral aggregation of oligo(p-phenylene vinylene)-functionalized Zn and free-base porphyrins is observed in water. The formation of mixed assemblies containing both porphyrins results in sequential energy transfer from OPV via zinc porphyrin to free-base porphyrin. Furthermore, the incorporation of C60 as electron acceptor yields a charge separated state by ultimate electron transfer.  相似文献

Excited states of free-base porphyrin isomers, porphycene (Pc), corrphycene (Cor), and hemiporphycene (hPc), were studied by the Symmetry-Adapted Cluster (SAC)/SAC-Configuration Interaction (CI) method. The absorption peaks of the porphyrin isomers were assigned on the basis of the SAC-CI spectra. The X, Y, X', and Y' bands of the porphyrin isomers, which have weak intensities, are identified. The differences in the Q-band absorptions among the isomers were clearly explained by the four-orbital model. In Cor and hPc, the wave function of the B-band corresponds to the mixture of the four-orbital excitations and the optically forbidden excitation of free-base porphin (P), due to the molecular symmetry lowering in the isomers. The B-band character is described by the five-orbital model in Pc and the six-orbital model in Cor and hPc. Two tetrazaporphycenes and two ring-extended (dibenzo) porphycenes were designed, and the Q-band transition moment was successfully controlled. These examples show that the control of the four-orbital energy levels is the guiding principle for pigment design in porphyrin compounds.  相似文献

We report the preparation of [5,10,15,20-tetraphenyl-2,3,7,8,12,13,17,18-octakis(phenylethynyl)porphinato] complexes of Ni(II), H(2), Zn(II), Mg(II), and Cu(II), as well as select trimethylsilanylethynyl derivatives. The X-ray structures of the octakis(phenylethynyl) compounds show systematic deviations from planarity (Ni(II), 0.2851 A; Zn(II), 0.0304 A) as a function of the central cation. These geometric distortions are reflected in bathochromic shifts of the Soret and Q bands (Ni(II), 497, 604, and 650 nm; Mg(II), 515, 595, 642, and 705 nm) which loosely correlate with increasing planarity of the structure. Similarly, vibrational modes involving the octasubstituted porphyrin core exhibit shifts to lower frequency as a function of increasing planarity in the solution-state resonance Raman spectra (lambda(exc) = 501.7 nm) of these compounds. Analogous trends are also observed in their solid-state electronic and resonance Raman spectra, indicating that the structural distortions within the octakis(phenylethynyl) series are preserved in solution. Comparison of the saddle distortion of the octasubstituted Ni(II) compound with the ruffle/saddle distortions of the pentakis and hexakis Ni(II) derivatives reveals some influence of asymmetric peripheryl substitution on geometric structure. These Ni(II) derivatives also exhibit systematic red shifts in their electronic spectra as a function of the number of conjugated alkyne units ( approximately 13 nm/alkyne), revealing participation of the enediyne units in the electronic ground and excited states. The solid-state Bergman cyclization temperatures of the phenylethynyl compounds vary markedly as a function of planarity, and correlate loosely with alkyne termini separation (Ni(PA)(8), 4.00 A, 281 degrees C; MgP(PA)(8), 3.77 A, 244 degrees C). In solution, both thermal and photochemical activation of the free-base octakis(phenylethynyl) compound lead to formal reduction of the porphyrin backbone via H-atom addition at opposing meso-positions. Generation of a common product suggests that both thermal and photochemical pathways to Bergman cyclization in solution contain significant activation barriers to formation of the 1,4-phenyl diradical intermediate, and under these solution conditions, alternate reaction channels are more thermodynamically favorable.  相似文献

A methodology for the stepwise construction of shape-persistent assemblies using snowflake-shaped dendrimers as the key modular building blocks was described. The Sonogashira coupling reaction of A3B-type Zn-porphyrin with A4-type free-base porphyrin afforded a cross-shaped covalent assembly. Intramolecular singlet energy transfer from peripheral Zn-porphyrin core to a free-base porphyrin core was observed.  相似文献

To examine the influence of mixed substituents on the structural, electrochemical redox behavior of porphyrins, two new classes of beta-pyrrole mixed substituted free-base tetraphenylporphyrins H2(TPP(Ph)4X4) (X = CH3, H, Br, Cl, CN) and H2(TPP(CH3)4X4) (X = H, Ph, Br, CN) and their metal (M = Ni(II), Cu(II), and Zn(II)) complexes have been synthesized effectively using the modified Suzuki cross-coupling reactions. Optical absorption spectra of these porphyrins showed significant red-shift with the variation of X in H2(TPPR4X4), and they induce a 20-30 nm shift in the B band and a 25-100 nm shift in the longest wavelength band [Q(x)(0,0)] relative to the corresponding H2TPPR4 (R = CH3, Ph) derivatives. Crystal structure of a highly sterically crowded Cu(TPP(Ph)4(CH3)4).2CHCl3 complex shows a combination of ruffling and saddling of the porphyrin core while the Zn(TPP(Ph)4Br4(CH3OH)).CH3OH structure exhibits predominantly saddling of the macrocycle. Further, the six-coordinated Ni(TPP(Ph)4(CN)4(Py)2).2(Py) structure shows nearly planar geometry of the porphyrin ring with the expansion of the core. Electrochemical redox behavior of the MTPPR4X4 compounds exhibit dramatic cathodic shift in first ring oxidation potentials (300-500 mV) while the reduction potentials are marginally cathodic in contrast to their corresponding MTPPX4 (X = Br, CN) derivatives. The redox potentials were analyzed using Hammett plots, and the highest occupied molecular orbital-lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (HOMO-LUMO) gap decreases with an increase in the Hammett parameter of the substituents. Electronic absorption spectral bands of H2TPPR4X4 are unique that their energy lies intermediate to their corresponding data for the H2(TPPX8) (X = CH3, Ph, Br, Cl) derivatives. The dramatic variation in redox potentials and large red-shift in the absorption bands in mixed substituted porphyrins have been explained on the basis of the nonplanarity of the macrocycle and substituent effects.  相似文献

A series of dichloro-bridged arylbicycloheptylpalladium complexes have been synthesized and characterized by means of NMR spectroscopy. The compound [(C16H19)PdCl]2*CH2Cl2 with ortho and para methyl substituents at the arene has been characterized by means of X-ray diffraction techniques. The C(ipso) atom of the arene lies almost at the fourth planar coordination site of the metal [Pd-C(ipso) = 2.22(1) A (average)], and due to the arene's tilting, the substituted C(ortho) atom is relatively close to the metal atom [2.54(1) A (average)]. The coordinated C(ipso)-C(ortho) linkage, in a seemingly dihapto coordination, is anti with respect to the CH2 bridge of the bicycloheptyl unit. Variable-temperature NMR experiments for the para-substituted dimer 9 reveal restricted rotation of the two aryl groups about the corresponding C-C(ipso) bonds (DeltaE < or =17 kcal x mol(-1)). DFT-B3LYP calculations have been carried out on the known and similar monomer (phenylbicycloheptenyl)Pd(PPh3)I (4) and its related substituted derivatives. The essential results are as follows: (i) The potential energy surface for twisting the phenyl ring away from the symmetric eta(1) coordination in 4 is very flat (DeltaE < or = 1 kcal x mol(-1)) whereas an Atoms in Molecules analysis excludes the existence of an actual Pd-C(ortho) bond in the seemingly eta2-type conformer. (ii) Complete rotation of the unsubstituted phenyl ring is not facile but feasible. A significant strain affects the transition-state structure featuring a Pd-HC(aryl) agostic-type bond. The calculated destabilization of 10.3 kcal x mol(-1), with respect to the ground state, can be compared to the experimental barrier of the dimer 9. (iii) Various methyl-substituted derivatives of 4 have been optimized, and their structural and energetic trends are discussed. An almost ideal eta1 coordination is shown by the anti conformer of the C(ortho)-substituted complex due steric effects. For all of the other cases, a slipped eta2 coordination may be described. As a general conclusion, the unsaturated metal center receives pi electron density of the arene mainly through its C(ipso) atom. The effect may be slightly improved if the C(ortho) atom also gets closer to the metal, but in no case, does the slipped eta2 coordination seem to be crucial for the stability of the system.  相似文献

The preparation and characterisation of the free-base and zinc metallated derivatives of 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(4-(2-(2-hydroxyethoxy)ethoxy)phenyl)porphyrin 1 is described. The X-ray crystal structure of the Zn(II) adduct 2 dimerises in the solid state via an intermolecular polyether oxygen–Zn(II) interaction (O…Zn = 2.124(4) Å). The porphyrin dimers form discrete layers defined by a distance of 5.10 Å between the porphyrin planes in adjacent layers. A bilayer sheeting arrangement of the porphyrin macrocyclic units is achieved through cooperative hydrogen bonding of the ethoxyethanol arms to form 11-membered macrocycles containing four hydrogen bonds.  相似文献

New ethanediyl-bridged unsymmetrical mono- and heterometallated dimers of 2,3,7,8,12,13,17,18-octaethyl-21H,23H-porphyrin (H2oep) containing transition-metal ions (Mn and Fe) were synthesized by a facile stepwise metallation/demetallation process under mild conditions. The novel metallation strategy initially involved the predominant insertion of Zn into one of the two porphyrin rings of the free-base dimer, followed by the incorporation of Mn or Fe into the other porphyrin ring under exceptionally mild conditions, giving corresponding heterometallic dimers; the subsequent removal of Zn yielded mono-transition-metal dimers. The emission spectrum of the monozinc dimer predominantly exhibited fluorescence bands of the free-base porphyrin component, indicating a very efficient energy-transfer process. Conversely, emission of the free-base or Zn porphyrin component of transition metal containing dimers was strongly quenched due to photoinduced electron transfer.  相似文献

A facile introduction of alpha,beta- or alpha,beta,gamma,delta-unsaturated ester functions onto porphyrins was achieved through rhodium-catalyzed addition of beta-borylporphyrins to acrylate or 2,4-pentadienoate esters. The reaction of meso-borylporphyrins with acrylates exclusively afforded saturated esters by 1,4-conjugate addition under the same reaction conditions. Thus, the reaction mode (Heck-type versus conjugate addition) is highly dependent on the reaction site (beta versus meso). This functionalization has a significant impact on the electronic properties of the pi system of porphyrins, which induces a substantial redshift and broadening in the absorption spectra by effective conjugation through the beta positions. The coplanar structure of the unsaturated ester moieties with respect to the porphyrin core has been unambiguously elucidated by X-ray crystallographic analysis.  相似文献

A light-harvesting array containing rigid backbones, peripherally positioned Zn-porphyrin terminals, and a free-base (Fb) porphyrin core was prepared by a convergent method where the Sonogashira coupling reaction was used in the key steps. Effective intramolecular singlet-energy transfer from the peripheral Zn-porphyrin units to the Fb porphyrin core was observed.
