The synthesis of a novel water‐soluble Mn‐doped CdTe/ZnS core‐shell quantum dots using a proposed ultrasonic assistant method and 3‐mercaptopropionic acid (MPA) as stabilizer is descried. To obtain a high luminescent intensity, post‐preparative treatments, including the pH value, reaction temperature, reflux time and atmosphere, have been investigated. For an excellent fluorescence of Mn‐doped CdTe/ZnS, the optimal conditions were pH 11, reflux temperature 100°C and reflux time 3 h under N2 atmosphere. While for phosphorescent Mn‐doped CdTe/ZnS QDs, the synthesis at pH 11, reflux temperature 100°C and reflux time 3 h under air atmosphere gave the best strong phosphorescence. The characterizations of Mn‐doped CdTe/ZnS QDs were also identified using AFM, IR, powder XRD and thermogravimetric analysis. The data indicated that the photochemical stability and the photoluminescence of CdTe QDs are greatly enhanced by the outer inorganic ZnS shell, and the doping Mn2+ ions in the as‐prepared quantum dots contribute to strong luminescence. The strong luminescence of Mn‐doped CdTe/ZnS QDs reflected that Mn ions act as recombination centers for the excited electron‐hole pairs, attributing to the transition from the triplet state (4T1) to the ground state (6A1) of the Mn2+ ions. All the experiments demonstrated that the surface states played important roles in the optical properties of Mn‐doped CdTe/ZnS core‐shell quantum dots.  相似文献

Herein, we report the synthesis of aqueous CdTe/CdSe type‐II core–shell quantum dots (QDs) in which 3‐mercaptopropionic acid is used as the capping agent. The CdTe QDs and CdTe/CdSe core–shell QDs are characterized by X‐ray diffraction (XRD), high‐resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR‐TEM), steady‐state absorption, and emission spectroscopy. A red shift in the steady‐state absorption and emission bands is observed with increasing CdSe shell thickness over CdTe QDs. The XRD pattern indicates that the peaks are shifted to higher angles after growth of the CdSe shell on the CdTe QDs. HR‐TEM images of both CdTe and CdTe/CdSe QDs indicate that the particles are spherical, with a good shape homogeneity, and that the particle size increases by about 2 nm after shell formation. In the time‐resolved emission studies, we observe that the average emission lifetime (τav) increases to 23.5 ns for CdTe/CdSe (for the thickest shell) as compared to CdTe QDs (τav=12 ns). The twofold increment in the average emission lifetime indicates an efficient charge separation in type‐II CdTe/CdSe core–shell QDs. Transient absorption studies suggest that both the carrier cooling and the charge‐transfer dynamics are affected by the presence of traps in the CdTe QDs and CdTe/CdSe core–shell QDs. Carrier quenching experiments indicate that hole traps strongly affect the carrier cooling dynamics in CdTe/CdSe core–shell QDs.  相似文献

Tri(pyrazolyl)phosphanes ( 5 R1,R2) are utilized as an alternative, cheap and low‐toxic phosphorus source for the convenient synthesis of InP/ZnS quantum dots (QDs). From these precursors, remarkably long‐term stable stock solutions (>6 months) of P(OLA)3 (OLAH=oleylamine) are generated from which the respective pyrazoles are conveniently recovered. P(OLA)3 acts simultaneously as phosphorus source and reducing agent in the synthesis of highly emitting InP/ZnS core/shell QDs. These QDs are characterized by a spectral range between 530–620 nm and photoluminescence quantum yields (PL QYs) between 51–62 %. A proof‐of‐concept white light‐emitting diode (LED) applying the InP/ZnS QDs as a color‐conversion layer was built to demonstrate their applicability and processibility.  相似文献

The review discusses the main methods used to obtain surface-modified quantum dots, specifically silicon, heavy metal chalcogenide and pnictide semiconductor nanoparticles. Examples of transformation processes of the grafted layer are considered. The importance of surface modification of AIIBVI- and AIIIBV-type semiconductor nanoparticles for the practical application of quantum dots is shown. It was determined that the most promising areas of their practical application are biology, medicine, and pharmacology. Special attention is paid to the hydrophilization of quantum dots, because only these materials can be used in biomedical applications. Modification of the quantum dot surface with amino acids is considered.

Described herein is a novel one‐pot aqueous synthesis of ZnSe nanocrystals has featuring the utilization of Na2SeO3 and Zn(AC)2×2H2O as Se and Zn source, glutathione (GSH) as stabilizing agent and reducing agent. By this approach, the UV‐blue ZnSe QDs with quantum yield (QYs) up to 19% have been synthesized with a molar ratio of Se/Zn/GSH at 1:4:8.5 under aqueous conditions at 110 °C. XRD and TEM show the ZnSe QDs are zinc cubic structure particles with an average diameter of 3–5 nm.  相似文献

Here, we report a novel strategy to prepare fluorescent semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) of core–shell type with CdSe–CdS QDs as a model system. Our synthesis was carried out in liquid paraffin, which is a natural, nontoxic, and cheap solvent. We applied a single injection of precursor for the shell growth at low temperature and gradual heating of the reaction mixture after that. By this manner, the Ostwald ripening of the cores was reduced, homogenous nucleation of the shell material was avoided, and highly monodisperse in size core–shell QDs were prepared. Our synthesis method allows working on open air; it is relatively fast and allows fine control over the shell growth process. It leads to the formation of core–shell CdSe–CdS QDs with fluorescence quantum yield as high as 65%. We described the optical properties of core–shell QDs by the model of attenuated quantum confinement.  相似文献

We report the synthesis and gradient stimuli‐responsive properties of cyclodextrin‐overhanging hyperbranched core‐double‐shell miktoarm architectures. A ionic hyperbranched poly(β‐cyclodextrin) (β‐CD) core was firstly synthesized via a convenient “A2+B3” approach. Double‐layered shell architectures, composed of poly(N‐isopropyl acrylamide) (PNIPAm) and poly(N,N‐dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate) (PDMAEMA) miktoarms as the outermost shell linked to poly(N,N‐diethylaminoethyl methacrylate) (PDEAEMA) homoarms which form the inner shell, were obtained by a sequential atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) and parallel click chemistry from the modified hyperbranched poly(β‐CD) macroinitiator. The combined characterization by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, 1H‐29Si heteronuclear multiple‐bond correlation (HMBC), FTIR and size exclusion chromatography/multiangle laser light scattering (SEC/MALLS) confirms the remarkable hyperbranched poly(β‐CD) core and double‐shell miktoarm architectures. The gradient triple‐stimuli‐responsive properties of hyperbranched core‐double‐shell miktoarm architectures and the corresponding mechanisms were investigated by UV–vis spectrophotometer and dynamic light scattering (DLS). Results show that this polymer possesses three‐stage phase transition behaviors. The first‐stage phase transition comes from the deprotonation of PDEAEMA segments at pH 9–10 aqueous solution under room temperature. The confined coil‐globule conformation transition of PNIPAm and PDMAEMA arms gives rise to the second‐stage hysteretic cophase transition between 38 and 44 °C at pH 10. The third‐stage phase transition occurs above 44 °C at pH = 10 attributed to the confined secondary conformation transition of partial PDMAEMA segments. This cyclodextrin‐overhanging hyperbranched core‐double‐shell miktoarm architectures are expected to solve the problems of inadequate functionalities from core layer and lacking multiresponsiveness for shell layers existing in the dendritic core‐multishell architectures. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Ultrafast charge‐transfer dynamics has been demonstrated in CdSe quantum dots (QD), CdSe/ZnS type‐I core–shell, and CdSe/CdTe type‐II core–shell nanocrystals after sensitizing the QD materials by aurin tricarboxylic acid (ATC), in which CdSe QD and ATC form a charge‐transfer complex. Energy level diagrams suggest that the conduction and valence band of CdSe lies below the LUMO and the HOMO level of ATC, respectively, thus signifying that the photoexcited hole in CdSe can be transferred to ATC and that photoexcited ATC can inject electrons into CdSe QD, which has been confirmed by steady state and time‐resolved luminescence studies and also by femtosecond time‐resolved absorption measurements. The effect of shell materials (for both type‐I and type‐II) on charge‐transfer processes has been demonstrated. Electron injection in all the systems were measured to be <150 fs. However, the hole transfer time varied from 900 fs to 6 ps depending on the type of materials. The hole‐transfer process was found to be most efficient in CdSe QD. On the other hand, it has been found to be facilitated in CdSe/CdTe type‐II and retarded in CdSe/ZnS type‐I core–shell materials. Interestingly, electron injection from photoexcited ATC to both CdSe/CdTe type‐II and CdSe/ZnS type‐I core–shell has been found to be more efficient as compared to pure CdSe QD. Our observation suggests the potential of quantum dot core–shell super sensitizers for developing more efficient quantum dot solar cells.  相似文献

Upconversion core/shell nanocrystals with different mean sizes ranging from 15 to 45 nm were prepared via a modified synthesis procedure based on anhydrous rare‐earth acetates. All particles consist of a core of NaYF4:Yb,Er, doped with 18 % Yb3+ and 2 % Er3+, and an inert shell of NaYF4, with the shell thickness being equal to the radius of the core particle. Absolute measurements of the photoluminescence quantum yield at a series of different excitation power densities show that the quantum yield of 45 nm core/shell particles is already very close to the quantum yield of microcrystalline upconversion phosphor powder. Smaller core/shell particles prepared by the same method show only a moderate decrease in quantum yield. The quantum yield of 15 nm core/shell particles, for instance, is reduced by a factor of three compared to the bulk upconversion phosphor at high power densities (100 W cm?2) and by approximately a factor of 10 at low power densities (1 W cm?2).  相似文献

The local symmetry and local magnetic properties of 6 nm‐sized, bimetallic, cyanide‐bridged CsNiCr(CN)6 coordination nanoparticles 1 and 8 nm‐sized, trimetallic, CsNiCr(CN)6@CsCoCr(CN)6 core–shell nanoparticles 2 were studied by X‐ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) and X‐ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD). The measurements were performed at the NiII, CoII, and CrIII L2,3 edges. This study revealed the presence of distorted NiII sites located on the particle surface of 1 that account for the uniaxial magnetic anisotropy observed by SQUID measurements. For the core–shell particles, a combination of the exchange anisotropy between the core and the shell and the pronounced anisotropy of the CoII ions is the origin of the large increase in coercive field from 120 to 890 Oe on going from 1 to 2 . In addition, XMCD allows the relative orientation of the magnetic moments throughout the core–shell particles to be determined. While for the bimetallic particles of 1 , alignment of the magnetic moments of CrIII ions with those of NiII ions leads to uniform magnetization, in the core–shell particles 2 the magnetic moments of the isotropic CrIII follow those of CoII ions in the shell and those of NiII ions in the core, and this leads to nonuniform magnetization in the whole nanoobject, mainly due to the large difference in local anisotropy between the CoII ions belonging to the surface and the NiII ions in the core.  相似文献

Core‐shell type hyperbranched polymers that are capable of forming unimolecular micelles and reverse micelles in aqueous and hydrocarbon medium, respectively, were synthesized via two approaches, namely AB2 + A‐R and A2 + B3 + A‐R type copolymerizations. In case of micelle‐forming polymers, an AB2 monomer carrying a decamethylene spacer was used along with heptaethylene glycol monomethyl ether (HPEG) as the A‐R type comonomer. One the other hand, for the preparation of reverse micelle‐forming polymers, an AB2 monomer containing an oligo(oxyethylene) spacer was used along with cetyl alcohol as the A‐R type comonomer. The former was readily soluble in water while the latter was soluble in hydrocarbon solvents like hexane. NMR spectral studies confirmed that both the approaches generated highly branched structures wherein about 65–70% of the terminal B groups were capped by the A‐R comonomer. Dye‐uptake measurements revealed that the polymers prepared via the AB2 + A‐R approach exhibited a significantly larger uptake compared with those prepared via the A2 + B3 + A‐R approach. This suggests that the AB2 + A‐R approach generates hyperbranched polymers with better defined core‐shell topology when compared with polymers prepared via the A2 + B3 + A‐R approach, which is in accordance with previous studies that suggest that A2 + B3 approach yields polymers with significantly lower branching levels and consequently less compact structures. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In recent years, continuous‐flow/microreactor processing for the preparation of colloidal nanocrystals has received considerable attention. The intrinsic advantages of microfluidic reactors have opened new opportunities for the size‐controlled synthesis of nanocrystals either in the laboratory or on a large scale. Herein, an experimentally simple protocol for the size‐tunable continuous‐flow synthesis of rather monodisperse CdSe quantum dots (QDs) is presented. CdSe QDs are manufactured by using cadmium oleate as cadmium source, selenium dioxide as selenium precursor, and 1‐octadecene as solvent. Exploiting selenium dioxide as selenium source and 1‐octadecene as solvent allows execution of the complete process in open air without any requirement for air‐free manipulations using a glove box or Schlenk line. Continuous‐flow processing is performed with a stainless steel coil of 1.0 mm inner diameter pumping the combined precursor solution through the reactor by applying a standard HPLC pump. The effect of different reaction parameters, such as temperature, residence time, and flow rate, on the properties of the resulting CdSe QDs was investigated. A temperature increase from 240 to 260 °C or an extension of the residence time from 2 to 20 min affords larger nanocrystals (range 3–6 nm) whereas the size distribution does not change significantly. Longer reaction times and higher temperatures result in QDs with lower quantum yields (range 11–28 %). The quality of the synthesized CdSe QDs was confirmed by UV/Vis and photoluminescence spectroscopy, small‐angle X‐ray scattering, and high‐resolution transmission electron microscopy. Finally, the potential of this protocol for large‐scale manufacturing was evaluated and by operating the continuous‐flow process for 87 min it was possible to produce 167 mg of CdSe QDs (with a mean diameter of 4 nm) with a quantum yield of 28 %.  相似文献

The one‐pot synthesis of water‐soluble and biologically compatible yellow CdSe quantum dots (QDs) featuring the use of glutathione (GSH) as the capping and reducing agent was achieved under aqueous conditions at 150 °C. The synthesized yellow CdSe QDs with quantum yield (QY) up to 20% exhibit zinc blende cubic structure particles with an average diameter of 4‐5 nm. It was found that both molar ratio of Se/Cd and reaction time had a significant effect on size distribution of GSH‐CdSe QDs. Meanwhile, the interaction of QDs bioconjugated to bovine hemoglobin (BHb) was studied by absorption and fluorescence(FL) spectra. With addition of BHb, the FL intensity of CdSe QDs largely quenched due to the static mechanism. The linear range is 5.0 × 10?8 mol/L to 3.0 × 10?6 mol/L, and the correlation coefficient is 0.9991, suggesting that could be used as a probe to label biological molecules and bacterial cells.  相似文献

Mesoporous nanoparticles composed of γ‐Al2O3 cores and α‐Fe2O3 shells were synthesized in aqueous medium. The surface charge of γ‐Al2O3 helps to form the core–shell nanocrystals. The core–shell structure and formation mechanism have been investigated by wide‐angle XRD, energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy, and elemental mapping by ultrahigh‐resolution (UHR) TEM and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The N2 adsorption–desorption isotherm of this core–shell materials, which is of type IV, is characteristic of a mesoporous material having a BET surface area of 385 m2 g?1 and an average pore size of about 3.2 nm. The SEM images revealed that the mesoporosity in this core–shell material is due to self‐aggregation of tiny spherical nanocrystals with sizes of about 15–20 nm. Diffuse‐reflectance UV/Vis spectra, elemental mapping by UHRTEM, and wide‐angle XRD patterns indicate that the materials are composed of aluminum oxide cores and iron oxide shells. These Al2O3@Fe2O3 core–shell nanoparticles act as a heterogeneous Fenton nanocatalyst in the presence of hydrogen peroxide, and show high catalytic efficiency for the one‐pot conversion of cyclohexanone to adipic acid in water. The heterogeneous nature of the catalyst was confirmed by a hot filtration test and analysis of the reaction mixture by atomic absorption spectroscopy. The kinetics of the reaction was monitored by gas chromatography and 1H NMR spectroscopy. The new core–shell catalyst remained in a separate solid phase, which could easily be removed from the reaction mixture by simple filtration and the catalyst reused efficiently.  相似文献

Crystal engineering can be described as the understanding of intermolecular interactions in the context of crystal packing and the utilization of such understanding to design new solids with desired physical and chemical properties. Free‐energy differences between supramolecular isomers are generally small and minor changes in the crystallization conditions may result in the occurrence of new isomers. The study of supramolecular isomerism will help us to understand the mechanism of crystallization, a very central concept of crystal engineering. Two supramolecular isomers of dichloridobis(1,10‐phenanthroline‐κ2N,N′)cobalt(II), [CoCl2(C12H8N2)2], i.e. (IA) (orthorhombic) and (IB) (monoclinic), and two supramolecular isomers of dichloridobis(1,10‐phenanthroline‐κ2N,N′)cobalt(II) N,N‐dimethylformamide monosolvate, [CoCl2(C12H8N2)2]·C3H7NO, i.e. (IIA) (orthorhombic) and (IIB) (monoclinic), were synthesized in dimethylformamide (DMF) and structurally characterized. Of these, (IA) and (IIA) have been prepared and structurally characterized previously [Li et al. (2007). Acta Cryst. E 63 , m1880–m1880; Cai et al. (2008). Acta Cryst. E 64 , m1328–m1329]. We found that the heating rate is a key factor for the crystallization of (IA) or (IB), while the temperature difference is responsible for the crystallization of (IIA) or (IIB). Based on the crystallization conditions, isomerization behaviour, the KPI (Kitajgorodskij packing index) values and the density data, (IB) and (IIA) are assigned as the thermodynamic and stable kinetic isomers, respectively, while (IA) and (IIB) are assigned as the metastable kinetic products. The 1,10‐phenanthroline (phen) ligands interact with each other through offset face‐to‐face (OFF) π–π stacking in (IB) and (IIB), but by edge‐to‐face (EF) C—H...π interactions in (IA) and (IIA). Meanwhile, the DMF molecules in (IIB) connect to neighbouring [CoCl2(phen)2] units through two C—H...Cl hydrogen bonds, whereas there are no obvious interactions between DMF molecules and [CoCl2(phen)2] units in (IIA). Since OFF π–π stacking is generally stronger than EF C—H...π interactions for transition‐metal complexes with nitrogen‐containing aromatic ligands, (IIA) is among the uncommon examples that are stable and densely packed but that do not following Etter's intermolecular interaction hierarchy.  相似文献

In this work, we utilize the galvanic displacement synthesis and make it a general and efficient method for the preparation of Au? M (M=Au, Pd, and Pt) core–shell nanostructures with porous shells, which consist of multilayer nanoparticles. The method is generally applicable to the preparation of Au? Au, Au? Pd, and Au? Pt core–shell nanostructures with typical porous shells. Moreover, the Au? Au isomeric core–shell nanostructure is reported for the first time. The lower oxidation states of AuI, PdII, and PtII are supposed to contribute to the formation of porous core–shell nanostructures instead of yolk‐shell nanostructures. The electrocatalytic ethanol oxidation and oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) performance of porous Au? Pd core–shell nanostructures are assessed as a typical example for the investigation of the advantages of the obtained core–shell nanostructures. As expected, the Au? Pd core–shell nanostructure indeed exhibits a significantly reduced overpotential (the peak potential is shifted in the positive direction by 44 mV and 32 mV), a much improved CO tolerance (If/Ib is 3.6 and 1.63 times higher), and an enhanced catalytic stability in comparison with Pd nanoparticles and Pt/C catalysts. Thus, porous Au? M (M=Au, Pd, and Pt) core–shell nanostructures may provide many opportunities in the fields of organic catalysis, direct alcohol fuel cells, surface‐enhanced Raman scattering, and so forth.  相似文献

This work demonstrated the feasibility of detecting hydrocortisone in cosmetics using a novel CdSe/CdS quantum dots‐based competitive fluoroimmunoassay with magnetic core/shell Fe3O4/Au nanoparticles (MCFN) as solid carriers. Hydrocortisone antigen was labeled with the synthesized core/shell CdSe/CdS quantum dots (QDs) to form the antigen‐QDs conjugate. Meanwhile, hydrocortisone antibody was incubated with MCFN and the immobilized antibody was obtained. The immobilized antibody was then mixed sequentially with hydrocortisone and a slightly excess amount of the QDs‐labeled hydrocortisone antigen, allowing their competition for binding with the antibody immobilized on MCFN. The bound hydrocortisone and the antigen‐QDs conjugates on MCFN were removed subsequently after the mixture was applied to a magnetic force. The analyte concentration was obtained by measuring the fluorescence intensity of the unbound hydrocortisone antigen‐QDs conjugates. The proposed method was characterized by simplicity, rapidity, and high sensitivity with a wide linear working range of 0.5 to 15000 pg·mL?1 and a low detection limit of 0.5 pg·mL?1. The proposed method was successfully applied to the determination of hydrocortisone in cosmetics with satisfactory results.  相似文献

We report here a simple and direct route for the preparation of lead sulfide (PbS) quantum dots (QDs) embedded into polymeric nanospheres by emulsion polymerization. In this process, QDs are first dispersed in an aqueous solution containing a statistical oligomer constituted of five butyl acrylate and ten acrylic acid units prepared by reversible addition fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization using a trithiocarbonate as RAFT agent. Then, the dispersion of PbS QDs is engaged into an emulsion polymerization process to form core‐shell nanoparticles. Transmission electron microscopy reveals the presence of single‐core core‐shell particles at low concentration of PbS QD, whereas multiple‐core core‐shell particles containing either well separated or aggregated PbS QDs are formed at high concentration of PbS QDs. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A sub‐monolayer CdS shell on PbS quantum dots (QDs) enhances triplet energy transfer (TET) by suppressing competitive charge transfer from QDs to molecules. The CdS shell increases the linear photon upconversion quantum yield (QY) from 3.5 % for PbS QDs to 5.0 % for PbS/CdS QDs when functionalized with a tetracene acceptor, 5‐CT . While transient absorption spectroscopy reveals that both PbS and PbS/CdS QDs show the formation of the 5‐CT triplet (with rates of 5.91±0.60 ns−1 and 1.03±0.09 ns−1 respectively), ultrafast hole transfer occurs only from PbS QDs to 5‐CT . Although the CdS shell decreases the TET rate, it enhances TET efficiency from 60.3±6.1 % to 71.8±6.2 % by suppressing hole transfer. Furthermore, the CdS shell prolongs the lifetime of the 5‐CT triplet and thus enhances TET from 5‐CT to the rubrene emitter, further bolstering the upconverison QY.  相似文献
