We examine the projective dimensions of Mackey functors and cohomological Mackey functors. We show over a field of characteristic p that cohomological Mackey functors are Gorenstein if and only if Sylow p-subgroups are cyclic or dihedral, and they have finite global dimension if and only if the group order is invertible or Sylow subgroups are cyclic of order 2. By contrast, we show that the only Mackey functors of finite projective dimension over a field are projective. This allows us to give a new proof of a theorem of Greenlees on the projective dimension of Mackey functors over a Dedekind domain. We conclude by completing work of Arnold on the global dimension of cohomological Mackey functors over ?.  相似文献

We extend the notion of virtually Gorenstein rings to the setting of arbitrary rings, and prove that all rings R of finite Gorenstein weak global dimension are virtually Gorenstein such that all Gorenstein projective R-modules are Gorenstein flat. For such a ring R, we introduce the notion of relative homology functors of complexes with respect to Gorenstein projective (resp., flat) modules, and establish a balanced and a vanishing result for the homology functor.  相似文献

We give sufficient conditions on a class of R‐modules $\mathcal {C}We give sufficient conditions on a class of R‐modules $\mathcal {C}$ in order for the class of complexes of $\mathcal {C}$‐modules, $dw \mathcal {C}$, to be covering in the category of complexes of R‐modules. More precisely, we prove that if $\mathcal {C}$ is precovering in R ? Mod and if $\mathcal {C}$ is closed under direct limits, direct products, and extensions, then the class $dw \mathcal {C}$ is covering in Ch(R). Our first application concerns the class of Gorenstein flat modules. We show that when the ring R is two sided noetherian, a complex C is Gorenstein flat if and only if each module Cn is Gorenstein flat. If moreover every direct product of Gorenstein flat modules is a Gorenstein flat module, then the class of Gorenstein flat complexes is covering. We consider Gorenstein projective complexes as well. We prove that if R is a commutative noetherian ring of finite Krull dimension, then the class of Gorenstein projective complexes coincides with that of complexes of Gorenstein projective modules. We also show that if R is commutative noetherian with a dualizing complex then every right bounded complex has a Gorenstein projective precover.  相似文献

We prove that the bounded derived category of coherent sheaves with proper support is equivalent to the category of locally-finite, cohomological functors on the perfect derived category of a quasi-projective scheme over a field. We introduce the notions of pseudo-adjoints and Rouquier functors and study them. As an application of these ideas and results, we extend the reconstruction result of Bondal and Orlov to Gorenstein projective varieties.  相似文献

Motivated by the classical Gorenstein homological theory and structure of Tate cohomology, we develop a theory of Gorenstein projective objects and Tate cohomology in an exact category A with enough projectives. We study some properties of Gorenstein projective objects and establish Tate cohomology of objects with finite Gorenstein projective dimension.  相似文献

We study groups whose cohomology functors commute with filtered colimits in high dimensions. We relate this condition to the existence of projective resolutions which exhibit some finiteness properties in high dimensions, and to the existence of Eilenberg–Mac Lane spaces with finitely many n-cells for all sufficiently large n. To that end, we determine the structure of completely finitary Gorenstein projective modules over group rings. The methods are inspired by representation theory and make use of the stable module category, in which morphisms are defined through complete cohomology. In order to carry out these methods, we need to restrict ourselves to certain classes of hierarchically decomposable groups.  相似文献

We show that over a right coherent left perfect ring R, a complex C of left R-modules is Gorenstein projective if and only if C m is Gorenstein projective in R-Mod for all m ∈ ℤ. Basing on this we show that if R is a right coherent left perfect ring then Gpd(C) = sup{Gpd(C m )|m ∈ ℤ} where Gpd(−) denotes Gorenstein projective dimension.  相似文献

Abstract

We study Gorenstein injective and projective modules over Zariski filtered rings and obtain relations between the Gorenstein dimensions on the category of filtered modules from the associated category of graded modules over the associated graded ring.  相似文献

In this paper we construct Gorenstein-projective modules over Morita rings with zero bimodule homomorphisms and we provide sufficient conditions for such rings to be Gorenstein Artin algebras. This is the first part of our work which is strongly connected with monomorphism categories. In the second part, we investigate monomorphisms where the domain has finite projective dimension. In particular, we show that the latter category is a Gorenstein subcategory of the monomorphism category over a Gorenstein algebra. Finally, we consider the category of coherent functors over the stable category of this Gorenstein subcategory and show that it carries a structure of a Gorenstein abelian category.  相似文献

In this article, we study the relation between m-strongly Gorenstein projective (resp., injective) modules and n-strongly Gorenstein projective (resp., injective) modules whenever m ≠ n, and the homological behavior of n-strongly Gorenstein projective (resp., injective) modules. We introduce the notion of n-strongly Gorenstein flat modules. Then we study the homological behavior of n-strongly Gorenstein flat modules, and the relation between these modules and n-strongly Gorenstein projective (resp., injective) modules.  相似文献

We show that an iteration of the procedure used to define the Gorenstein projective modules over a ring R yields exactly the Gorenstein projective modules. Specifically, given an exact sequence of Gorenstein projective left R-modules G = … → G 1 → G 0 → G 0 → G 1 → … such that the complex Hom R (G, H) is exact for each projective left R-module H, the module Im(G 0 → G 0) is Gorenstein projective. We also get similar results for Gorenstein flat left R-modules when R is a right coherent ring. As applications, we obtain the corresponding results for Gorenstein complexes.  相似文献

A right R-module M is called glat if any homomorphism from any finitely presented right R-module to M factors through a finitely presented Gorenstein projective right R-module. The concept of glat modules may be viewed as another Gorenstein analogue of flat modules. We first prove that the class of glat right R-modules is closed under direct sums, direct limits, pure quotients and pure submodules for arbitrary ring R. Then we obtain that a right R-module M is glat if and only if M is a direct limit of finitely presented Gorenstein projective right R-modules. In addition, we explore the relationships between glat modules and Gorenstein flat (Gorenstein projective) modules. Finally we investigate the existence of preenvelopes and precovers by glat and finitely presented Gorenstein projective modules.

Gorenstein homological algebra was introduced in categories of modules. But it has proved to be a fruitful way to study various other categories such as categories of complexes and of sheaves. In this paper, the research of relative homological algebra in categories of discrete modules over profinite groups is initiated. This seems appropriate since (in some sense) the subject of Gorenstein homological algebra had its beginning with Tate homology and cohomology over finite groups. We prove that if the profinite group has virtually finite cohomological dimension then every discrete module has a Gorenstein injective envelope, a Gorenstein injective cover and we study various cohomological dimensions relative to Gorenstein injective discrete modules. We also study the connection between relative and Tate cohomology theories.  相似文献

Gorenstein flatness and injectivity over Gorenstein rings   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Let R be a Gorenstein ring.We prove that if I is an ideal of R such that R/I is a semi-simple ring, then the Gorenstein flat dimension of R/I as a right R-module and the Gorenstein injective dimension of R/I as a left R-module are identical. In addition,we prove that if R→S is a homomorphism of rings and SE is an injective cogenerator for the category of left S-modules,then the Gorenstein flat dimension of S as a right R-module and the Gorenstein injective dimension of E as a left R-module are identical. We also give some applications of these results.  相似文献

We define and study a notion of Gorenstein projective dimension for complexes of left modules over associative rings. For complexes of finite Gorenstein projective dimension we define and study a Tate cohomology theory. Tate cohomology groups have a natural transformation to classical Ext groups. In the case of module arguments, we show that these maps fit into a long exact sequence, where every third term is a relative cohomology group defined for left modules of finite Gorenstein projective dimension.

In this paper we study relative and Tate cohomology of modules of finite Gorenstein injective dimension. Using these cohomology theories, we present variations of Grothendieck local cohomology modules, namely Gorenstein and Tate local cohomology modules. By applying a sort of Avramov-Martsinkovsky exact sequence, we show that these two variations of local cohomology are tightly connected to the generalized local cohomology modules introduced by J. Herzog. We discuss some properties of these modules and give some results concerning their vanishing and non-vanishing.

In this article, we investigate the change of rings theorems for the Gorenstein dimensions over arbitrary rings. Namely, by the use of the notion of strongly Gorenstein modules, we extend the well-known first, second, and third change of rings theorems for the classical projective and injective dimensions to the Gorenstein projective and injective dimensions, respectively. Each of the results established in this article for the Gorenstein projective dimension is a generalization of a G-dimension of a finitely generated module M over a noetherian ring R.  相似文献
