In this note our aim is to present some monotonicity properties of the product of modified Bessel functions of the first and second kind. Certain bounds for the product of modified Bessel functions of the first and second kind are also obtained. These bounds improve and extend known bounds for the product of modified Bessel functions of the first and second kind of order zero. A new Turán type inequality is also given for the product of modified Bessel functions, and some open problems are stated, which may be of interest for further research.  相似文献

In this article, we introduce necessary and sufficient conditions for the tensor product of two convex functions to be convex. For our analysis we introduce the notions of true convexity, jet-convexity, true jet-convexity as well as true log-convexity. The links between jet-convex and log-convex functions are elaborated. As an algebraic tool, we introduce the jet product of two symmetric matrices and study some of its properties. We illustrate our results by an application from global optimization, where a convex underestimator for the tensor product of two functions is constructed as the tensor product of convex underestimators of the single functions.  相似文献

An innovative technique is developed for obtaining infinite product representations for some elementary functions. The technique is based on the comparison of alternative expressions of Green's functions constructed by two different methods. Some standard boundary value problems are considered posed for two-dimensional Laplace equation on regions of a regular configuration. Classical closed analytic form of Green's functions for such problems are compared against those obtained by the method of images in the form of infinite products. This yields a number of new infinite product representations for trigonometric and hyperbolic functions.  相似文献

Given two domains of functions with values in a field, the canonical map from the algebraic tensor product of the vector spaces of functions on the two domains to the vector space of functions on the product of the two domains is well known to be injective, but not generally surjective. By constructing explicit examples, we show that the corresponding map for semimodules of semiring-valued functions is in general not even injective. This impacts the formulation of topological quantum field theories over semirings. We also confirm the failure of surjectivity for functions with values in complete, additively idempotent semirings by describing a large family of functions that do not lie in the image.  相似文献

New classes of generalized Nevanlinna functions, which under multiplication with an arbitrary fixed symmetric rational function remain generalized Nevanlinna functions, are introduced. Characterizations for these classes of functions are established by connecting the canonical factorizations of the product function and the original generalized Nevanlinna function in a constructive manner. Also, a detailed functional analytic treatment of these classes of functions is carried out by investigating the connection between the realizations of the product function and the original function. The operator theoretic treatment of these realizations is based on the notions of rigged spaces, boundary triplets, and associated Weyl functions.  相似文献

Many combinatorial generating functions can be expressed as combinations of symmetric functions, or extracted as sub-series and specializations from such combinations. Gessel has outlined a large class of symmetric functions for which the resulting generating functions are D-finite. We extend Gessel's work by providing algorithms that compute differential equations, these generating functions satisfy in the case they are given as a scalar product of symmetric functions in Gessel's class. Examples of applications to k-regular graphs and Young tableaux with repeated entries are given. Asymptotic estimates are a natural application of our method, which we illustrate on the same model of Young tableaux. We also derive a seemingly new formula for the Kronecker product of the sum of Schur functions with itself.  相似文献

Boolean functions play an important role in many symmetric cryptosystems and are crucial for their security. It is important to design boolean functions with reliable cryptographic properties such as balancedness and nonlinearity. Most of these properties are based on specific structures such as Möbius transform and Algebraic Normal Form. In this paper, we introduce the notion of Dirichlet product and use it to study the arithmetical properties of boolean functions. We show that, with the Dirichlet product, the set of boolean functions is an Abelian monoid with interesting algebraic structure. In addition, we apply the Dirichlet product to the sub-family of coincident functions and exhibit many properties satisfied by such functions.  相似文献

A study is made of two classes of product topologies on powers of spaces: the general box product topologies, and the general uniform product topologies. Some examples are given and some results are shown about the properties of these general product spaces. This is applied to show that certain spaces of continuous functions with the fine topology are homeomorphic to box product spaces, and certain spaces of continuous functions with the uniform topology are homeomorphic to uniform product spaces.  相似文献

Spectral analysis of a certain doubly infinite Jacobi operator leads to orthogonality relations for confluent hypergeometric functions, which are called Laguerre functions. This doubly infinite Jacobi operator corresponds to the action of a parabolic element of the Lie algebra su(l, 1). The Clebsch-Gordan coefficients for the tensor product representation of a positive and a negative discrete series representation of su(l,l) are determined for the parabolic bases. They turn out to be multiples of Jacobi functions. From the interpretation of Laguerre polynomials and functions as overlap coefficients, we obtain a product formula for the Laguerre polynomials, given by an integral over Laguerre functions, Jacobi functions and continuous dual Hahn polynomials.  相似文献

A theory for distributional boundary values of harmonic and analytic functions is presented. In this analysis there arise several indicators that measure the growth of these functions near the boundaries. An extension of the Phragmén-Lindelöf maximum principle is derived. Furthermore, the algebraic properties of the space of real periodic distributions are studied. By introducing a new product, the harmonic product, the boundary conditions involving harmonic functions are transformed into ordinary differential equations.  相似文献

We present in this paper a family of functions which are tensor product functions in subdomains, while not having the usual drawback of functions which are tensor product functions in the whole domain. With these functions we can add more points in some region without adding points on lines parallel to the axes. These functions are linear combinations of tensor product polynomial B-splines, and the knots of different B-splines are less connected together than with usual polynomial B-splines. A classical theorem of Lambek states that an arithmetic function is completely multiplicative if and only if it distributes over the Dirichlet product of any two arithmetic functions. Taking a generalized Möbius function as an element in this product, our first objective is to investigate, through the concepts of discriminative and partially discriminative products, under which conditions such distributive property yields a necessary and sufficient condition for complete multiplicativity. Summary For a simply connected solvable Lie group we specify the structure of the product, the inverse and the exponential map expressed in suitable coordinates (canonical coordinates of the second kind), and point out that in these coordinates the product and inverse are expressed entirely in terms of polynomials, exponential functions and trigonometric functions. This algebraic tool allows us to formulate and prove a product theorem for the enumeration of functions of many different kinds, in particular injective functions, surjective functions, matchings and colourings of the vertices of a hypergraph. In this paper we consider a special class of continuous bilinear operators acting in a product of Banach algebras of integrable functions with convolution product. In the literature, these bilinear operators are called ‘zero product preserving’, and they may be considered as a generalization of Lamperti operators. We prove a factorization theorem for this class, which establishes that each zero product preserving bilinear operator factors through a subalgebra of absolutely integrable functions. We obtain also compactness and summability properties for these operators under the assumption of some classical properties for the range spaces, as the Dunford–Pettis property or the Schur property and we give integral representations by some concavity properties of operators. Finally, we give some applications for integral transforms, and an integral representation for Hilbert–Schmidt operators.  相似文献

In this paper, a new numerical method for solving the optimal control of linear time-varying delay systems with quadratic performance index is presented. The method is based upon hybrid functions approximation. The properties of hybrid functions, consisting of block-pulse functions and Bernoulli polynomials, are presented. The operational matrices of integration, product, delay and the integration of the cross product of two hybrid functions of block-pulse and Bernoulli polynomials vectors are given. These matrices are then utilized to reduce the solution of the optimal control of delay systems to the solution of algebraic equations. Illustrative examples are included to demonstrate the validity and applicability of the technique.  相似文献

In this paper we describe the asymptotic behaviour of the spectral norm of the product of two finite Toeplitz matrices as the matrix dimension goes to infinity. These Toeplitz matrices are generated by functions with Fisher–Hartwig singularities of negative order. If these functions are positives the product of the two matrices has positive eigenvalues and it is known that the spectral norm is also the largest eigenvalue of this product.  相似文献

Quasi-symmetric functions arise in an approach to solve the Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (KP) hierarchy. This moreover features a new nonassociative product of quasi-symmetric functions that satisfies simple relations with the ordinary product and the outer coproduct. In particular, supplied with this new product and the outer coproduct, the algebra of quasi-symmetric functions becomes an infinitesimal bialgebra. Using these results we derive a sequence of identities in the algebra of quasi-symmetric functions that are in formal correspondence with the equations of the KP hierarchy.  相似文献

Summary. We prove convergence results and error estimates for interpolatory product quadrature formulas for Cauchy principal value integrals on the real line with Freud–type weight functions. The formulas are based on polynomial interpolation at the zeros of orthogonal polynomials associated with the weight function under consideration.
