This paper uses the classical ensemble method to study the double ionization of a 2-dimensional (2D) model helium atom interacting with an elliptically polarized laser pulse. The classical ensemble calculation demonstrates that the ratio of double to single ionization decreases with the increasing ellipticity of the driving field. The classical scenario shows that there are hardly any e--e recollisions with the circularly polarized laser pulse. The double ionization probability is studied for linearly and circularly polarized laser pulses. The classical numerical results are consistent with the semiclassical rescattering mechanism and in agreement with the experimental results and the quantum calculations qualitatively.  相似文献

Influence of multiphoton ionization on the propagation and spectrum of few-cycle circularly (elliptically) polarized laser pulses in an open two-level medium (two-level plus continuum model) is investigated based on the conventional two-level model proposed by Slavcheva and Hess (Phys. Rev. A 72 (2005) 053804), and the propagation dynamics of an arbitrary elliptically polarized laser pulse is reduced into that of right and left circularly polarized laser pulses. When the laser intensity is high enough to cause ionization, there are significant impacts of ionization on the pulse reshaping and on the higher order spectral components, and the impacts for the open two-level model are different from those for the dosed two-level model.  相似文献

A remarkable effect of circular dichroism, i.e., a difference in photoelectron spectra produced by right and left circularly polarized light in two-color multiphoton ionization of atoms, is predicted for the case when the atom is ionized by an extreme ultraviolet or x-ray femtosecond pulse in the field of a strong infrared laser pulse, both pulses being circularly polarized. We show that the sidebands formed in the spectra exhibit different circular dichroism often of different signs both in angle-resolved and angle-integrated experimental conditions. The effect can be used for detecting and measuring circular polarization of x rays in a spectral range where other methods are not effective.  相似文献

This paper studies the multiphoton resonant ionization by two-colour laser pulses in the hydrogen atom by solving the time-dependent Schroedinger equation. By fixing the parameters of fundamental laser field and scanning the frequency of second laser field, it finds that the ionization probability shows several resonance peaks and is also much larger than the linear superposition of probabilities by applying two lasers separately. The enhancement of the ionization happens when the system is resonantly pumped to the excited states by absorbing two or more colour photons non-sequentially.  相似文献

By numerically solving the three-dimensional time-dependent Schrödinger equation, we have invest-tigated multiphoton ionization of hydrogen atom in the two-color circularly polarized (TCCP) laser fields consisting of a strong 400 nm and a much weaker 800 nm pulses. Due to the presence of perturb-bative 800 nm laser pulse, sideband peaks emerge between the above-threshold ionization rings in the photoelectron momentum distributions. Our numerical results show that the sideband peaks exhibit one-lobe structure in the co-rotating TCCP laser fields, while it displays the three-lobe structure in the counter-rotating TCCP laser fields. Moreover, the photoelectron yield of sidebands in the co-rotating TCCP fields is much higher than those of the counter-rotating TCCP fields. These phenomena could be well explained from the perspective of the photon-absorption channels via the selection rules. In-terestingly, an obvious phase shift between the sidebands of different orders from the co-rotating and counter-rotating TCCP fields is observed. This shift indicates the helicity-dependent time delay in the one-photon continuum-continuum transition process.  相似文献

实验研究了线偏振和圆偏振状态下的飞秒强激光脉冲在块状材料中的传输过程。不同偏振的激光脉冲在传输过程中得到了不同程度的光谱展宽,经色散补偿后,脉冲时域宽度均得到了压缩。详细分析了压缩脉冲的脉宽以及啁啾情况与入射激光脉冲能量之间的关系,比较了飞秒激光在线偏振及圆偏振情况下的不同压缩效果。在线偏振入射光情况下得到了最短21fs的压缩脉冲宽度,在圆偏振情况下得到的最短脉冲宽度为22fs。实验结果表明,这种光谱展宽与色散补偿方式对圆偏振光同样适用,而且圆偏振的入射激光将更有利于对更高能量的脉冲进行压缩。在色散补偿量相同的情况下,压缩效果随入射脉冲能量变化的规律符合理论估计。  相似文献

We theoretically study multiphoton ionization of Mg in the circularly polarized (CP) as well as the linearly polarized (LP) laser fields. Specifically two-, three-, and four-photon ionization cross sections from the ground and first excited states are calculated as a function of photon energy. Calculations are performed using the frozen-core Hartree-Fock (FCHF) and also the model potential (MP) approaches and the results are compared. We find that the MP approach provides results as good as or even slightly better than those by the FCHF. We also report the relative ratios of the ionization cross sections by the CP and LP laser fields as a function of photon energy, which exhibit clear effects of electron correlations.  相似文献

The balance of the linear photon momentum in multiphoton ionization is studied experimentally. In the experiment argon and neon atoms are singly ionized by circularly polarized laser pulses with a wavelength of 800 and 1400 nm in the intensity range of 10(14)-10(15) W/cm2. The photoelectrons are measured using velocity map imaging. We find that the photoelectrons carry linear momentum corresponding to the photons absorbed above the field free ionization threshold. Our finding has implications for concurrent models of the generation of terahertz radiation in filaments.  相似文献

Wakefield generation by a femtosecond laser pulse is described in the frame of the slowly varying amplitudes approximation. The amplitude of the wakefield A, is studied as a function of laser pulse and background gas parameters, and is compared with well-known results for preformed, completely ionized plasma Ap,i. It is found that the ionization processes can increase Ap as compared to Ap,i at comparatively high laser peak intensities. It is shown that the increase of the wakefield amplitude due to gas ionization is more pronounced for circularly polarized laser pulses than for linearly polarized laser pulses. The strongest enhancement of Ap in comparison with Ap,i takes place for longer laser pulses with a duration in excess of the plasma wave period when the resonant conditions for ponderomotive excitation of the wakefield are not matched. Thus, ionization processes can expand the region of parameters for efficient generation of the laser wakefields  相似文献

我们提出利用频率为ω,3ω和强度较弱的2ω组成的三色圆偏振激光组合脉冲驱动氦原子能够得到椭偏率较大的阿秒脉冲链的一种方法.通过强场近似方法,计算了氦原子在两色和三色圆偏振激光组合脉冲驱动下发射高次谐波谱及其合成阿秒脉冲链,比较了氦原子(初态为s态)在这两种情况下发射高次谐波谱的特点及其合成阿秒脉冲链椭偏率的大小,结果发现,在反旋的两色ω,3ω激光脉冲基础上加入了频率为2ω的第三色激光脉冲联合作用到氦原子上,所得到的阿秒脉冲链的椭偏率相对于双圆场情况下有所增加,通过调整ω,3ω激光的强度比,并且选择适当的第三色激光的强度,对初态为s态的原子,仍能够得到具有较大椭偏率的阿秒脉冲链.  相似文献

This study investigates the generation of high energy photons and positrons using focused ultrahigh intensity femtosecond laser pulses on a relativistic electron beam with a set of two-dimensional particle-in-cell simulations. We consider circularly and linearly polarized, single and spatially separated double laser pulses. We model both 500 MeV and 1 GeV electron beams. Higher positron production is obtained using circularly polarized laser pulses. Using double pulses, the focusing effect of the ponderomotive force confines the electrons to a small volume, generating additional energetic photons and positrons. The positron spectral distributions are effectively modified by these variations. When the electron beam energy is doubled, the number of positrons increased, while the cutoff energy remained nearly constant.  相似文献

The mass spectra of two isomers of butane, 1-butene and cis-2-butene, interacting with linearly polarized Ti:sapphire laser pulses, were compared. It was demonstrated that the difference between the two spectra are much more pronounced than the corresponding spectra prepared by 100 eV electron ionization ion source. In addition, the difference could be varied by changing the peak laser intensity. The observation suggests potential application of dissociative multiphoton ionization by ultrafast laser pulses as a source for high performance mass spectroscopy.  相似文献

Photoelectron angular distribution (PAD) of atoms irradiated by a train of identical, circularly polarized few-cycle laser pulses is studied in the frame of a nonperturbative scattering theory. Our study shows that the PADs vary with the kinetic energy of photoelectron, the carrier-envelope phase, and the pulse duration. The dynamics and characteristics of spatial distribution of emission are analyzed with a single electron model in the cases of different intensities and different polarized femtosecond laser pulses. It is discovered that with the increase of laser intensity, for circularly polarized laser pulse, the angular distribution is tipped forward more and more; for linearly polarized laser pulse, the radiation pattern is changed from the fourfold rotational symmetry bifoliate pattern same as that from a dipole antenna to twofold rotational symmetry trefoil pattern.  相似文献

Two distinct interpretations have been proposed to account for conspicuous enhancements of the ionization peaks in the high energy part of above-threshold ionization spectra. One of them ascribes the enhancement to a multiphoton resonance involving an excited state, while other analysis performed for zero-range model potential link it to "channel closings, " i.e., to the change in the number of photons needed to ionize the atom when the laser intensity increases. We report the results of model calculations that confirm the existence of a resonant process in atoms and shed light on why short-range potential models can mimic the experimental observations.  相似文献
