For graphene placed in a dc magnetic field and exposed to two electromagnetic waves of the same polarization but different frequencies, an expression for the direct current density in a direction perpendicular to the polarization plane of the waves is derived. The direct current component is nonzero for the wave frequency ratio equal to two; it is proportional to the magnetic field strength, the electric field strength of the higher-frequency wave, and the squared electric field strength of the lower-frequency wave. The physical mechanism of the current generation is similar to the Hall effect.  相似文献

A fundamentally new collective state, namely, the magnetofermionic condensate, is discovered during photoexcitation of a sufficiently dense gas of long-lived triplet cyclotron magnetoexcitons in a twodimensional Hall insulator with a high electron mobility, a filling factor of ν = 2, and temperatures of T < 1 K. The condensed phase coherently interacts with an external electromagnetic field, exhibits superradiant properties in the recombination of correlated condensate electrons with heavy holes in the valence band, and spreads nondissipatively in the layer of a two-dimensional electron gas to macroscopical large distances, transferring an integer spin. The observed effects are explained in terms of a coherent condensate in a nonequilibrium system of two-dimensional fermions with a fully quantized energy spectrum, in which a degenerate ensemble of long-lived triplet magnetoexcitons obeying the Bose statistics is present.

涡旋电磁波具有携带轨道角动量的特性,利用这一特性,采用涡旋电磁波作为信号的载体,可以实现同一时间、同一频段的多路信号传输,极大地提高系统容量和频带利用率。以同轴馈电的半圆型开槽微带天线为单元,设计出了一种能工作在Ku波段和K波段的涡旋电磁阵列天线。使用三维电磁场仿真软件建模并且优化参数,最终得到在中心频率分别为17.1 GHz和19.7 GHz时,阵列天线产生的电磁波携带有轨道角动量。结论表明:该阵列天线能够产生双频涡旋电磁波。  相似文献

采用时域有限差分法(FDTD)中的分段线性电流密度卷积(PLCDRC)算法研究了TM波入射时二维非磁化等离子体光子晶体的禁带特性.从频域角度分析得到微分高斯脉冲的透射系数,并讨论该光子晶体的介质圆柱的介电常数、晶格常数、介质圆柱半径,周期常数和等离子体参数对其禁带特性的影响.结果表明,增加周期常数和等离子体碰撞频率不会改变禁带宽度,增加介质圆柱的相对介电常数和等离子体频率可以展宽禁带的宽度. 当填充率一定时,减小介质圆柱的半径和晶格常数可以实现禁带的拓展. 关键词: 等离子体 光子晶体 禁带 PLCDRC算法  相似文献

We have compared the properties of the nonequilibrium state of the two-dimensional electron gas observed in the samples of different types by means of magnetotransport and magnetization measurements in the quantum Hall effect regime at integer filling factors n. It has been found that the range of filling factors corresponding to the nonequilibrium state is universal for the samples of different types and different measurement techniques and varies from 0.1 to 0.3 for n changing from 1 to 4. The comparison indicates that the observed nonequilibrium state is not directly caused by the appearance of eddy currents and the dielectric phase in the two-dimensional electron gas but is probably associated with the magnetic field-induced phase transition.  相似文献

Optically engineering the topological properties of a spin Hall insulator   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Time-periodic perturbations can be used to engineer topological properties of matter by altering the Floquet band structure. This is demonstrated for the helical edge state of a spin Hall insulator in the presence of monochromatic circularly polarized light. The inherent spin structure of the edge state is influenced by the Zeeman coupling and not by the orbital effect. The photocurrent (and the magnetization along the edge) develops a finite, helicity-dependent expectation value and turns from dissipationless to dissipative with increasing radiation frequency, signalling a change in the topological properties. The connection with Thouless' charge pumping and nonequilibrium zitterbewegung is discussed, together with possible experiments.  相似文献

We point out that electromagnetic one-way edge modes analogous to quantum Hall edge states, originally predicted by Raghu and Haldane in 2D photonic crystals possessing Dirac point-derived band gaps, can appear in more general settings. We show that the TM modes in a gyromagnetic photonic crystal can be formally mapped to electronic wave functions in a periodic electromagnetic field, so that the only requirement for the existence of one-way edge modes is that the Chern number for all bands below a gap is nonzero. In a square-lattice yttrium-iron-garnet crystal operating at microwave frequencies, which lacks Dirac points, time-reversal breaking is strong enough that the effect should be easily observable. For realistic material parameters, the edge modes occupy a 10% band gap. Numerical simulations of a one-way waveguide incorporating this crystal show 100% transmission across strong defects.  相似文献

The spin Hall current in a two-dimensional electron system with nonuniform Rashba spin–orbit interaction (SOI) is investigated by means of the lattice Green's function method. Large electric and spin Hall currents are produced by this nonuniform Rashba SOI, while the electric Hall current vanishes in the uniform Rashba SOI system. A nondissipative spin Hall current is also produced, without any longitudinal voltage bias, any external magnetic field and any special class of band insulators.  相似文献

Based on the Kubo formalism, the anomalous Hall effect in a magnetic two-dimensional hole gas with cubic-Rashba spin-orbit coupling is studied in the presence of δ-function scattering potential. When the weak, short-ranged disorder scattering is considered in the Born approximation, we find that the self-energy becomes diagonal in the helicity basis and its value is independent of the wave number, and the vertex correction to the anomalous Hall conductivity due to impurity scattering vanishes when both subbandsare occupied. That is to say, the anomalous Hall effect is not vanishing or influenced by the vertex correction for two-dimensional heavy-hole system, which is in sharp contrast to the case of linear-Rashba spin-orbit coupling in the electron band when the short-range disorder scattering is considered and the extrinsic mechanism as well as the effect of external electric field on the SO interaction are ignored.  相似文献

提出将开槽单矩形栅和圆形电子注作为 W波段返波振荡器的注波互作用回路. 使用 3维电磁场仿真软件CST-MWS对开槽单矩形栅的高频特性进行了仿真分析, 研究结果表明: 相对于传统单矩形栅, 新结构的基模带宽有所展宽; 基模与高次模发生模式竞争的可能性很小; 在采用圆形电子注时新结构能获得大得多的耦合阻抗; 新结构的趋肤损耗略有改善. 将该慢波结构应用于设计一支以94 GHz为频带中心的W 波段返波振荡器: 设计了简洁的慢波过渡部分、输出耦合器和终端匹配衰减器, 优化参数后获得了良好的信号传输特性; 利用粒子模拟软件CST-PS对返波振荡器模型进行了三维大信号注波互作用计算, 设定合适的电子注电流等参数后, 调整工作电压在较宽的频带内获得了瓦级的功率输出, 电子效率在整个频带范围内优于1%. 关键词: 开槽单矩形栅 圆形电子注 返波振荡器 W波段  相似文献

<正>We have applied Maxwell’s equations to study the physics of quantum Hall’s effect.The electromagnetic properties of this system are obtained.The Hall’s voltage,VH = 2πh2ns/em,where ns is the electron number density,for a 2- dimensional system,and h = 2πh is the Planck’s constant,is found to coincide with the voltage drop across the quantum capacitor.Consideration of the cyclotronic motion of electrons is found to give rise to Hall’s resistance. Ohmic resistances in the horizontal and vertical directions have been found to exist before equilibrium state is reached. At a fundamental level,the Hall’s effect is found to be equivalent to a resonant LCR circuit with LH = 2πm/e2ns and CH = me2/2πh2ns satisfying the resonance condition with resonant frequency equal to the inverse of the scattering (relaxation) time,τs.The Hall’s resistance is found to be RH =((LH)/CH1/2.The Hall’s resistance may be connected with the impedance that the electron wave experiences when it propagates in the 2-dimensional gas.  相似文献

The nonequilibrium transfer of the energy between electrons of counter-propagating quasi-one-dimensional systems has been perturbatively calculated for edge channels in a two-dimensional system in the integer quantum Hall effect. The processes involving two electrons that are allowed only in the system with disorder have been taken into account. Expressions for the cases of Coulomb scattering and transfer of nonequilibrium phonons have been obtained. The energy transferred per unit time has a quasi-threshold dependence on the degree of nonequilibrium of the hot channel. According to numerical estimates for electrons in GaAs, Coulomb scattering processes dominate in the energy transfer and the expected effect can be experimentally observed.  相似文献

This paper presents a theoretical study of second-harmonic generation (SHG) by a focused pump beam in the interior of an isotropic medium, experimentally observed earlier. It shows that the spatial dispersion of the quadratic optical response of the substance can be responsible for this nonlinear process even when a macroscopic inversion center is present in the medium. It is established that this effect, which is impossible in the plane-wave approximation, also does not occur when a Gaussian pump beam with uniform distribution of the polarization state of the wave field over the cross section is used, but that the presence in the pump beam of higher transverse modes with polarization different from the fundamental mode can cause an SHG signal to appear. The conditions for a wave to appear at the doubled frequency are found, analytical dependences for its electric field and total power on the propagation coordinate, the degree of focusing, and the other parameters of the problem are obtained, and the requirements on the optimum experimental geometry are formulated. The dependence of the signal-beam power on the wavevector detuning is studied, and it is shown that interference effects can cause the wave at the second harmonic to disappear when a normal dispersion law is obeyed in the region between the fundamental and doubled frequencies. We demonstrate that the flow of a longitudinal unpolarized current through a ballistic two-dimensional electron gas with Rashba spin-orbit coupling will induce a nonequilibrium spin accumulation which has opposite signs for the two lateral edges and is, therefore, the principal observable signature of the spin Hall effect in two-probe semiconductor nanostructures. The magnitude of its out-of-plane component is gradually diminished by static disorder, while it can be enhanced by an in-plane transverse magnetic field. Moreover, our prediction of the longitudinal component of the spin Hall accumulation, which is insensitive to the reversal of the bias voltage, offers direct evidence to differentiate experimentally between the extrinsic, intrinsic, and mesoscopic spin Hall mechanisms.  相似文献

脉冲磁约束线形空心阴极放电形成的大面积等离子体片可应用于等离子体天线、隐身及模拟超音速飞行器表面的等离子体鞘套. 本文首次利用实测等离子体片电子密度时空分布和横向场传播矩阵法, 研究了电磁波在等离子体片中反射率、透射率、吸收率随频率及脉冲放电时间的变化特征. 结果表明: 极化方向平行磁场的电磁波, 在小于截止频率的低频带内具有较高的反射率和吸收率, 增大电流, 反射率增加, 吸收率下降, 在大于截止频率的高频带内反射率和吸收率较低, 增大电流, 透射率下降, 吸收率升高; 极化方向垂直磁场的电磁波在高混杂谐振频率附近存在吸收率明显增强的吸收带, 谐振吸收峰值与放电电流无关; 脉冲放电期间, 电磁波的反射率、透射率与吸收率由不稳定过渡到稳定的时间约为100 μs, 过渡时间随着放电电流的增加而增大, 极化方向垂直磁场、小于截止频率的电磁波在稳定放电阶段谐振吸收较强. 本文的研究成果对利用等离子体片实现对电磁波的稳定高反射作用具有重要意义.  相似文献

The generation of acoustic waves by a gas of two-dimensional indirect dipolar excitons irradiated by an electromagnetic wave has been studied by the deformation potential method. It has been shown that an acoustic wave propagating into the interior of the isotropic substrate is generally a superposition of longitudinal and transverse waves. At high frequencies of electromagnetic perturbation, the generated acoustic wave degenerates almost completely into a transverse wave. The amplitudes of both waves have been calculated. Their frequency dependences at temperatures above and below the temperature of condensation of the exciton gas have been determined.  相似文献

Two-dimensional graphene-based photonic crystal (GPC) formed by a periodic array of the homogeneous dielectric cylinders etched in the alternating graphene and dielectric layers and its inverse counterpart are considered. The transmittance of the photonic crystal is obtained. The waveguide due to the localization of the electromagnetic wave on the lattice defect that breaks the translational symmetry of the GPC of two different topologies is studied. The different topologies of GPC are characterized by different photonic band structures with different widths of photonic band gaps (PBG) and provide different frequencies for the localized electromagnetic wave due to the defect. The frequencies of the localized mode for both type of the GPC, located inside the lowest PBG, are in the range of THz or tens of THz depending on the topology of the GPC. It is shown that the photonic band gap always can be tuned by changing the chemical potential of graphene to provide formation of the localized photonic mode due to the defect. The technological advantages of the GPC, as well as the opportunity to tune the PBG and the frequency of the localized electromagnetic wave in the terahertz region of spectrum for the GPC are discussed.  相似文献

We consider the Hubbard model at half filling, driven by an external, stationary laser field. This stationary, but periodic in time, electromagnetic field couples to the charge current, i.e. it induces an extra contribution to the hopping amplitude in the Hubbard Hamiltonian (photo‐induced hopping). We generalize the dynamical mean‐field theory (DMFT) for nonequilibrium with periodic‐in‐time external fields, using a Floquet mode representation and the Keldysh formalism. We calculate the non‐equilibrium electron distribution function, the density of states and the optical DC conductivity in the presence of the external laser field for laser frequencies above and below the Mott‐Hubbard gap. The results demonstrate that the system exhibits an insulator‐metal transition as the frequency of the external field is increased and exceeds the Mott‐Hubbard gap. This corresponds to photo‐induced excitations into the upper Hubbard band.  相似文献

The reflection of an electromagnetic pulse by a nonequilibrium plasma in which the development of Weibel instability is possible has been studied. An exponentially strong amplification of the reflected signal at the stage of instability development has been found to be possible. The amplification maximum takes place at a radiation frequency comparable to the instability growth rate. A nonequilibrium plasma is shown to be a generator of radiation even after the switch-off of the incident pulse. The described effect of amplification of the reflected signal points, in particular, to a new possibility in mastering the terahertz frequency band.  相似文献
