The new poly(arylene vinylene) derivatives, which are composed of biphenylene vinylene phenylene vinylene, biphenylene vinylene m‐phenylene vinylene, terphenylene vinylene phenylene vinylene, and terphenylene vinylene m‐phenylene vinylene as backbone and bulky fluorene pendants at each vinyl bridge, were designed, synthesized, and characterized. The obtained polymers showed weight‐average molecular weights of 11,100–39,800 with polydispersity indexes ranging from 1.5 to 2.1. The resulting polymers were amorphous with high thermal stability and readily soluble in common organic solvents. The obtained polymers showed blue emission (λmax = 456–475 nm) in PL spectra, and polymer 4 containing terphenylene vinylene m‐phenylene vinylene showed the most blue shifted blue emission (λmax = 456 nm). The double layer light‐emitting diode devices fabricated by using obtained polymers as emitter emitted bright blue light. The device showed turn on voltage around 6.5 V and brightness of 70–250 cd/m2. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 44: 4923–4931, 2006  相似文献

Poly(9,9‐dihexylfluorene‐2,7‐vinylene‐alt‐dibenzothiophene‐2,8‐vinylene) (PS) and poly(9,9‐dihexylfluorene‐2,7‐vinylene‐alt‐dibenzothiophene‐5,5‐dioxide‐2,8‐ vinylene) (PSO) as well as corresponding model compounds were synthesized by Heck coupling. Both the polymers and model compounds were readily soluble in common organic solvents such as tetrahydrofuran, dichloromethane, chloroform, and toluene. The polymers showed a decomposition temperature at ~430 °C and a char yield of about 65% at 800 °C in N2. The glass‐transition temperatures of the polymers were almost identical (75–77 °C) and higher than those of the model compounds (26–45 °C). All samples absorbed around 390 nm, and their optical band gaps were 2.69–2.85 eV. They behaved as blue‐greenish light emitting materials in both solutions and thin films, with photoluminescence emission maxima at 450–483 nm and photoluminescence quantum yields of 0.52–0.72 in solution. Organic light‐emitting diodes with an indium tin oxide/poly(ethylene dioxythiophene):poly(styrene sulfonic acid)/polymer/Mg:Ag/Ag configuration with polymers PS and PSO as emitting layers showed green electroluminescence with maxima at 530 and 540 nm, respectively. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A novel series of soluble hyperbranched interrupted π‐conjugated polymers (HICPs) based on complicated 9,9‐diarylfluorenes (CDAFs) branching core and end‐capped with high carrier‐mobility pyrene moieties were synthesized via the “A2 + A′2 + B3” type Suzuki coupling condensation. The new polymer architecture improves the spectrum stability than the corresponding linear and hyperbranched polymers in PLEDs. Besides, it overcomes the drawback of high driving voltage of common interrupted π‐conjugated polymers. CDAF1 exhibits excellent thermal and morphological stability with a decomposition temperature (Td) higher than 445 °C and a glass transition temperature (Tg) up to 128 °C. No obvious low‐energy green emission band at 520 nm was observed under extreme thermal annealing conditions in air at 200 °C for 12 h. The CDAF1 device shows stable blue emission with the peak at 422 and 447 nm. The Commission International d'Eclairage (CIE) 1931 coordinates is (0.18, 0.16) and the brightness reaches 1051 cd/m2 at 15.7 V. White PLED based on CDAF1/MEH‐PPV blends exhibits a low turn‐on voltage of 4.8 V with voltage‐independent CIE of (0.32, 0.32). Molecular simulations were used to investigate the conformation and interchain interaction. HICPs based on CDAFs tethered with high‐mobility moieties are promising stable blue and host materials. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 47: 6451–6462, 2009  相似文献

Copolymers containing oligo(phenylene vinylene) (2.5), fluorene, and 4,4‐dihexyldithienosilole (DTS) units were synthesized and characterized. The π‐conjugated monomers were joined with the palladium(0)‐catalyzed Suzuki–Miyaura coupling reaction, thus forming either biphenyl– or phenyl–thiophene linkages. These polymers were photoluminescent, with the fluorescent quantum efficiency between 54 and 63% and with λmax for fluorescence at ~448 nm in tetrahydrofuran. The presence of 5% DTS in the copolymers had little influence on the optical absorption and emission wavelengths. Double‐layer light‐emitting‐diode devices using these polymers as emissive layers had low turn‐on voltages (3.5–4 V) and moderate external quantum efficiencies (0.14–0.30%). The results show that DTS plays a positive role in improving the charge‐injection characteristics of poly(phenylene vinylene) materials. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A bipolar dibromo monomer, bis‐(4‐bromophenyl)[4‐(3,5‐diphenyl‐1,2,4‐ triazole‐4‐yl)‐phenyl]amine ( 9 ), containing electro‐rich triphenylamine and electro‐deficient 1,2,4‐triazole moieties was newly synthesized and characterized. Two fluorescent fluorene‐based conjugated copolymers ( TPAF , TPABTF ) were prepared via facile Suzuki coupling from the dibromo bipolar monomer, 4,7‐dibromo‐2,1,3‐benzothiadiazole ( BTDZ ), and 9,9‐dioctylfluorene. They were characterized by molecular weight determination, IR, NMR, DSC, TGA, solubility, absorption and photoluminescence spectra, and cyclic voltammetry. The polymers showed good solubility in common organic solvents such as dichloromethane, chloroform, tetrahydrofuran, and dichlorobenzene at room temperature. They had glass transition temperatures (Tg) higher than 135 °C and 5% degradation temperatures in nitrogen atmosphere were higher than 428 °C. Single layer polymer light‐emitting diodes (PLED) of ITO/PEDOT:PSS/polymer/metal showed a blue emission at 444 nm and Commission Internationale de I'Eclairage (CIE) 1931 color coordinates of (0.16, 0.13) for TPAF . The device using TPABTF as emissive material showed electroluminescence at 542 nm with CIE1931 of (0.345, 0.625), low turn‐on voltage of 5 V, a maximum electroluminance of 696 cd/m2, and a peak efficiency of 2.02 cd/A. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Two new π‐conjugated polymers containing 1,3,5‐triazine units in the main chain, Pa and Pb , are reported. Pa and Pb (R = H and ? OCH3, respectively) showed blue photoluminescence emissions with quantum yields of more than 50% in toluene. In the solid state, Pa and Pb showed photoluminescence maximum emission peaks at 479 and 475 nm, respectively. Electrochemically, Pa and Pb showed good stability and reversibility under repeated electrochemical reduction. The polymers had glass‐transition temperatures higher than 90 °C and had 5 wt % loss temperatures higher than 400 °C. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Two novel poly(p‐phenylene vinylene) polymers, which carried side substituents with cyano groups or 1,3,4‐oxadiazole, were synthesized by Heck coupling. They consisted of alternating conjugated segments and nonconjugated aliphatic spacers. The polymers had moderate molecular weights, were amorphous, and dissolved readily in tetrahydrofuran and halogenated organic solvents. They were stable up to approximately 340 °C in N2 and 290 °C in air, and the anaerobic char yield was around 60% at 800 °C. The polymer with cyano side groups emitted blue light in solutions and thin films with identical photoluminescence (PL) maximum at 450 nm; this supported the idea that chain interactions were hindered even in the solid state. The PL maximum of this polymer in thin films was blueshifted upon annealing at 120 °C, indicating a thermochromic effect as a result of conformational changes in the polymer backbone. The polymer containing side substituents with oxadiazole rings emitted blue light in solutions with a PL maximum at 474 nm and blue‐greenish light in thin films with a PL maximum at 511 nm. The PL quantum yields of the polymers in tetrahydrofuran were 0.13–0.24. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 42: 1768–1778, 2004  相似文献

Two novel types of polyfluorene copolymers containing siloxane linkages or distilbene moieties on their main‐chains were synthesized by Ni(0)‐mediated Yamamoto coupling polymerization. These polymers, designated P2Silo05, P2Silo15, PF‐P02, and PF‐P05 were prepared by copolymerization between 2,7‐dibromo‐9,9′‐dihexylfluorene and bis(bromobenzene)‐terminated disiloxane monomer (for P2Silo05 and P2Silo15) or dibromodistilbene monomer (for PF‐P02 and PF‐P05). All of the polymers were highly soluble in common organic solvents such as chloroform, toluene, and p‐xylene. The glass transition temperatures of the polymers were between 92 and 113 °C, and the decomposition temperatures for a 5% weight loss (Td) were above 420 °C for all of the polymers, demonstrating high thermal stability. The molecular weight (Mw) of the polymers ranged from 4.2 × 104 to 8.8 × 104. The blue shift of the maximum in the UV‐visible absorption was greater in polymers with a higher molar percentage of siloxane linkages or distilbene moieties than in homo poly (dihexylfluorene) (PDHF). However, the photoluminescence spectra of the polymers were similar to those of PDHF in terms of the onsets and patterns. Single‐layer light‐emitting diodes were fabricated with a configuration of ITO/PEDOT:PSS/polymers/Ca/Al. The maximum electroluminescence emission wavelengths of the polymers were 425–450 nm, corresponding to pure blue light. The CIE co‐ordinates of the polyfluorenes containing siloxane linkages or distilbene moieties ranged from (0.21, 0.21) to (0.17, 0.10), indicating deeper blue light than that of PDHF {CIE co‐ordinates of (0.25, 0.29)}, with P2Silo15 giving the deepest blue‐light {CIE co‐ordinates of (0.17, 0.10)}. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Blue‐emitting poly{[5‐(diphenylamino)‐1,3‐phenylenevinylene]‐alt‐(2‐hexyloxy‐5‐methyl‐1,3‐phenylenevinylene)} ( 3 ), poly{[5‐bis‐(4‐butyl‐phenylamino)‐1,3‐phenylenevinylene]‐alt‐(1,3‐phenylene vinylene)} ( 4 ), and poly(2‐hexyloxy‐5‐methyl‐1,3‐phenylenevinylene) ( 5 ) were synthesized by the Wittig–Horner reaction. Although polymers 3–5 possess fluorescent quantum yields of only 13–34% in tetrahydrofuran solution, their films appear to be highly luminescent. Attachments of substituents tuned the emission color of thin films to the desirable blue region (λmax = 462–477 nm). Double‐layer light‐emitting‐diode devices with 3 and 5 as an emissive layer produced blue emission (λem = 474 and 477 nm) with turn‐on voltages of 8 and 11 V, respectively. The external quantum efficiencies were up to 0.13%. © 2005Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 43: 2800–2809, 2005  相似文献

Three new poly(p‐phenylenevinylene) derivatives—PO, POD, and POP—with oxadiazole and pyridine rings along the main chain were synthesized via Heck coupling. The polymers were amorphous and dissolved readily in common organic solvents. They showed relatively low glass‐transition temperatures (up to 42 °C) and satisfactory thermal stability. Solutions of the polymers emitted blue‐greenish light with photoluminescence (PL) emission maxima around 460 nm and PL quantum yields of 0.28–0.49. Thin films of the polymers displayed PL emission maxima at 461–521 nm, and their tendency to form aggregates was significantly influenced by the chemical structure. Light‐emitting diodes with polymers PO and POP, with an indium tin oxide/poly(ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT)/polymer/Ca configuration, emitted yellow and green light, respectively, and this could be attributed to excimer emission. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of novel branched polythiophene derivatives bearing different densities of vinylene‐bridges as linking chains were synthesized by a general synthetic strategy. The organic field‐effect transistors, which were fabricated by spin‐coating the polymer solutions onto octadecyltrichlorosilane‐modified SiO2/Si substrates with top‐contact configuration, afforded a high mobility of 8.0 × 10?3 cm2 V?1 s?1 with an on/off ratio greater than 104 and a threshold voltage of about ?3 V in saturation regime. The devices based on these polymers possessed better performance than those of polymers without conjugated bridges and polymers with longer conjugated bridges. These results demonstrated that the combination of conjugated polythiophene backbones and vinylene‐bridges would improve the carrier mobility. As an emerging class of conjugated materials, polymers with vinylene‐bridges as linking chains would open up new opportunities in organic electronics, and their applications in organic electronics are promising. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 1,3‐Phthaloyl bis‐9H‐carbazole (MPC) and 1,4‐phthaloyl bis‐9H‐carbazole (PPC) were synthesized by a Friedel‐Crafts reaction of carbazole with terephthaloyl chloride or isophthaloyl chloride. Homopolymers were obtained by a C? N coupling reaction with activated difluorides and copolymers were synthesized with 4,4′‐biphenol as a comonomer by a nucleophilic substitution reaction between these NH‐ and OH‐containing monomers and the activated difluoro monomers. The inherent viscosities of the polymers ranged from 0.35 to 1.03 dL/g. These polymers exhibited glass‐transition temperatures greater than 238 °C with the PPC‐containing homopolymer showing the highest value, 326.4 °C. The thermal stabilities indicated no significant weight loss below 450 °C and the temperatures of 5% weight loss ranged from 514.0 to 546.3 °C. The polymers showed reasonable solubility in organic solvents such as DMAC, DMSO, and NMP. UV absorption and fluorescence emission properties are presented. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A new diiodo monomer containing heterocyclic pyridine and carbazole groups was synthesized via Chichibabin reaction and used in the preparation of a conjugated polymer via Suzuki coupling approach. The conjugated polymer was highly soluble in common organic solvents such as NMP, THF, dichloromethane, chloroform, toluene, xylene, and benzene at room temperature. The polymer had high glass transition temperature at 191 °C and Td10 at 434 °C in nitrogen atmosphere. The pristine polymer exhibited the UV–vis maximum absorption at 355 nm and shifted to 420 nm after protonation. The emission of the polymer in THF solution changed from the blue region with maximum peak at 400 nm to the yellow region with maximum peak at 540 nm after protonated by HCl, and the intensity of emission depended on the concentration of acid. The polymer also showed electrochromic behavior under applied voltage. The emission color of the polymer film changed from blue (435 nm) to yellow (570 nm) when 2.5 V bias voltage was applied. The polymer also exhibited write‐once and read‐many‐times (WORM) polymer memory effect with tristable states. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A soluble cyano‐substituted poly[(1,3‐phenylene vinylene)‐alt‐(1,4‐phenylene vinylene)] derivative ( 9 ) was synthesized and characterized. Comparison between 9 and its model compound ( 10 ) showed that the chromophore in 9 remained to be well defined as a result of a π‐conjugation interruption at adjacent m‐phenylene units. The attachment of a cyano substituent only at the β position of the vinylene allowed the maximum electronic impact of the cyano group on the optical properties of the poly(p‐phenylene vinylene) material. At a low temperature (?108 or ?198 °C), the vibronic structures of 9 and 10 were partially resolved. The absorption and emission spectra of a film of 9 were less temperature‐dependent than those of a film of 10 , indicating that the former had a lower tendency to aggregate. A light‐emitting diode (LED) based on 9 emitted yellow light (λmax ≈ 578 nm) with an external quantum efficiency of 0.03%. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A novel conjugated polymer, poly(thienylene‐vinylene‐thienylene) with cyano substituent ( CN‐PTVT ) was synthesized via Stille coupling for the application in air stable field‐effect transistor and polymer solar cell. The polymer was characterized by 1H NMR, elemental analysis, UV‐vis absorption and photoluminescence spectroscopy, TGA, cyclic voltammetry and XRD analysis. CN‐PTVT exhibits a good thermal stability with 5% weight loss at 306 °C. The FET hole mobility of the polymer reached 5.9 × 10?3 cm2 V?1 s?1 with Ion/Ioff ratio of 4.9 × 104, which is one of the highest performance among the air‐stable amorphous polymers. The polymer solar cell based on CN‐PTVT as donor and PCBM as acceptor shows a relatively high open‐circuit voltage of 0.82 V and a power conversion efficiency of 0.3% under the illumination of AM1.5, 100 mW/cm2. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of fluorene derivatives containing nonsymmetric and bulky aromatic groups at C‐9 position were synthesized and used for the preparation of blue‐light‐emitting copolyfluorenes ( P1 – P4 ) by the Suzuki coupling polycondensation. The copolymers were characterized by molecular weight determination, elemental analysis, differential scanning calorimeter, thermogravimetric analysis, absorption and emission spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, and differential pulse voltammetry. Their decomposition temperatures and glass transition temperatures are 423–441 °C and >120 °C, respectively. In film state, the copolyfluorenes exhibit blue photoluminescence at 425–450 nm, which remains almost unchanged after annealing at 200 °C in air for 60 min. Polymer light‐emitting diodes [ITO/PEDOT:PSS/ P1 – P4 /Ca(50 nm)/Al(100 nm)] show stable blue‐light emission under device operation with the CIE co‐ordinates being between (0.16, 0.07) and (0.17, 0.09). The light‐emitting diodes devices from P1 and P3 containing electron‐deficient oxadiazole units display enhanced performance, with the maximum brightness and maximum current efficiency being (4510 cd/m2 and 2.40 cd/A) and (2930 cd/m2, 1.19 cd/A), respectively. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of new low band gap π‐conjugated polymers containing N‐alkyldithieno[3,2‐b:2′,3′‐d]pyrrole, benzo[c][1,2,5]thiadiazole, and alkylthiophenes are reported. The polymerization condition was standardized and the use of CuO to obtain high‐molecular‐weight polymer was also realized. The molecular weight of the polymers was found to be in the range of 45,000–53,000. All the polymers were found to be soluble in most of the common organic solvents, such as chloroform, dichloromethane, THF, and chlorobenzene with excellent film forming properties. The λmax of the polymers was found to be in the range of 687–663 nm with band gap in the range of 1.35–1.43 eV. The oxidation potential of the polymers from cyclic voltammetry was determined to be 0.5–0.75 V. The HOMO levels of the above synthesized polymers were found to be between 5.24 and 5.54 eV. All the polymers exhibited a PL emission in between 755 and 773 nm. The polymers were found to be thermally stable above 277 °C with only a 5% weight loss. From the thermal stability values, it is expected that the current set of polymers are stable enough for the application in electronic devices. To realize the potential use of the polymers, EL devices were fabricated and found to show red emission with comparatively low threshold voltage. A brightness of 54 cd m−2 for the device with polymer PC could be reached. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 47: 6514–6525, 2009  相似文献

A series of new phenothiazylene vinylene‐based semiconducting polymers, poly[3,7‐(4′‐dodecyloxyphenyl)phenothiazylene vinylene] ( P1 ), poly[3,7‐(4′‐dodecyloxyphenyl)phenothiazylene vinylene‐alt‐1,4‐phenylene vinylene] ( P2 ), and poly[3,7‐(4′‐dodecyloxyphenyl)phenothiazylene vinylene‐alt‐2,5‐thienylene vinylene] ( P3 ), have been synthesized via a Horner‐Emmons reaction. FTIR and 1H NMR spectroscopies confirmed that the configurations of the vinylene groups in the polymers were alltrans (E). The weight‐averaged molecular weights (Mw) of P1 , P2 , and P3 were found to be 27,000, 22,000, and 29,000, with polydispersity indices of 1.91, 2.05, and 2.25, respectively. The thermograms for P1 , P2 , and P3 each contained only a broad glass transition, at 129, 167, and 155 °C, respectively, without the observation of melting features. UV–visible absorption spectra of the polymers showed two strong absorption bands in the ranges 315–370 nm and 450–500 nm, which arose from absorptions of the phenothiazine segments and the conjugated main chains. Solution‐processed field‐effect transistors fabricated from these polymers showed p‐type organic thin‐film transistor characteristics. The field‐effect mobilities of P1 , P2 , and P3 were measured to be 1.0 × 10?4, 3.6 × 10?5, and 1.0 × 10?3 cm2 V?1 s?1, respectively, and the on/off ratios were in the order of 102 for P1 and P2 , and 103 for P3 . Atomic force microscopy and X‐ray diffraction analysis of thin films of the polymers show that they have amorphous structures. A photovoltaic device in which a P3 /PC71BM (1/5) blend film was used as the active layer exhibited an open‐circuit voltage (VOC) of 0.42 V, a short circuit current (JSC) of 5.17 mA cm?2, a fill factor of 0.35, and a power conversion efficiency of 0.76% under AM 1.5 G (100 mW cm?2) illumination. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A new X‐shaped π‐conjugated monomer comprising of fluorene units and anthracene units was synthesized, and it was used to fabricate the new X‐shaped π‐conjugated polymers and investigate the properties of the new polymers. Using different molar ratios between such monomer and a fluorene monomer gave three polymers that showed higher absolute PL quantum yields than the linear polyfluorene (PF) in the solid state. After thermal annealing at 200 °C for 4 h, the linear PF showed an additional bathochromic emission at about 550 nm, whereas such red‐shifted emission was fully eliminated for the X‐shaped polymers. The electroluminescent devices based on the X‐shaped polymers with a configuration of ITO/PEDOT:PSS/polymer/LiF/Ca/Al displayed blue emission with low turn‐on voltage and high brightness. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
