By making use of the path integral duality transformation, we derive the string representation for the partition function of an extended Dual Abelian Higgs Model containing gauge fields of external currents of electrically charged particles. By the same method, we obtain the corresponding representations for the generating functionals of gauge field and monopole current correlators. In the case of bilocal correlators, the obtained results are found to be in agreement with the dual Meissner scenario of confinement and the Stochastic Model of the QCD vacuum. The study of generalized field associated with Abelian dyons has been undertaken and it has been demonstrated that topologically, a non-Abelian gauge theory is equivalent to a set of Abelian gauge theories supplemented by dyons which undergo condensation leading to confinement and consequently to superconducting model of QCD vacuum, where the Higgs field plays the role of a regulator only. Constructing the effective action for dyonic field in Abelian projection of QCD, it has been demonstrated that any charge (electrical or magnetic) of dyon screens its own direct potential to which it minimally couples and anti-screens the dual potential leading to dual superconductivity in accordance with generalized Meissner effect. In this Abelian projection of QCD an Abelian Higgs model (AHM) has been successfully constructed and it has been shown to incorporate dual superconductivity and confinement as the consequence of dyonic condensation. It has been demonstrated that in AHM t’ Hooft loop creates the string (AHM-string) around which the monopole current under London limit leads to vanishing coherence length in the chromo-magnetic superconductor. It has also been shown that in London limit the squared density of monopole current around AHM-string has a maximum at the distance of the order of penetration length.  相似文献

Nano-sheet carbon films are prepared on Si wafers by means of quartz-tube microwave plasma chemical vapour deposition (MPCVD) in a gas mixture of hydrogen and methane. The structure of the fabricated films is investigated by using field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) and Raman spectroscopy. These nano~carbon films are possessed of good field emission (FE) characteristics with a low threshold field of 2.6 V/μm and a high current density of 12.6 mA/cm^2 at an electric field of 9 V/μm. As the FE currents tend to be saturated in a high E region, no simple Fowler-Nordheim (F-N) model is applicable. A modified F N model considering statistic effects of FE tip structures and a space-charge-limited-current (SCLC) effect is applied successfully to explaining the FE data observed at low and high electric fields, respectively.  相似文献

ac susceptibility measurements of the charge-density-wave (CDW) compound alpha-(BEDT-TTF)(2)-KHg(SCN)(4) at magnetic fields, mu0H >23 T, above its Pauli paramagnetic limit, reveal unambiguously that the magnetic hysteresis observed previously within this CDW phase is diamagnetic and can only be explained by induced currents. It is argued that the ensemble of experimental techniques amounts to a strong case for dissipationless conductivity within this phase.  相似文献

We consider stationary axially symmetric black holes in SU(2) Einstein-Yang-Mills-dilaton theory. We present a mass formula for these stationary non-Abelian black holes, which also holds for Abelian black holes. The presence of the dilaton field allows for rotating black holes, which possess nontrivial electric and magnetic gauge fields, but do not carry a non-Abelian charge. We further present a new uniqueness conjecture.  相似文献

Magnetic degrees of freedom are manifested through violations of the Bianchi identities and associated with singular fields. Moreover, these singularities should not induce color nonconservation. We argue that the resolution of the constraint is that the singular fields, or defects are Abelian in nature. Recently proposed surface operators seem to represent a general solution to this constraint and can serve as a prototype of magnetic degrees of freedom. Some basic lattice observations, such as the Abelian dominance of the confining fields, are explained then as consequences of the original non-Abelian invariance. Generically, the properties of the two-dimensional defects associated with the surface operators are close to the predictions of the dual models for the magnetic D2 branes.  相似文献

We calculate the free energy of a quasi-two-dimensional (Q2D) superconductor with ξ < d in a parallel magnetic field, where ξ is a perpendicular to the conducting layer coherence length and d is the interlayer distance. It is shown to be different from that in the famous Lawrence-Doniach model. In particular, at high enough magnetic fields, the Meissner currents are found to create an unexpected paramagnetic moment due to the shrinking of the Cooper pairs “sizes” in a direction perpendicular to the conducting layers. We suggest measuring this paramagnetic intrinsic Meissner effect in Q2D superconductors and superconducting superlattices. The text was submitted by the author in English.  相似文献

We provide an axiomatic Euclidean field-theoretic treatment of the Meissner and Abelian Higgs effects, which extends our previous method to a fully quantum theoretic model of a gauge field, with U(1) symmetry, coupled to a scalar field. Our main results are that the former effect implies the latter one, and ensues from the condition of off-diagonal long-range order.  相似文献

We construct a covariant functor from a category of Abelian principal bundles over globally hyperbolic spacetimes to a category of *-algebras that describes quantized principal connections. We work within an appropriate differential geometric setting by using the bundle of connections and we study the full gauge group, namely the group of vertical principal bundle automorphisms. Properties of our functor are investigated in detail and, similar to earlier works, it is found that due to topological obstructions the locality property of locally covariant quantum field theory is violated. Furthermore, we prove that, for Abelian structure groups containing a nontrivial compact factor, the gauge invariant Borchers-Uhlmann algebra of the vector dual of the bundle of connections is not separating on gauge equivalence classes of principal connections. We introduce a topological generalization of the concept of locally covariant quantum fields. As examples, we construct for the category of principal U(1)-bundles two natural transformations from singular homology functors to the quantum field theory functor that can be interpreted as the Chern class and the electric charge. In this case we also prove that the electric charges can be consistently set to zero, which yields another quantum field theory functor that satisfies all axioms of locally covariant quantum field theory.  相似文献

We propose a unified phenomenological theory to investigate the interaction between arbitrarily moving superconductors and gravitational fields including the Newtonian gravity, gravitational waves, vector transverse gravitoelectric fields, and vector gravitomagnetic fields. In the limit of weak field and low velocity, the expressions for the induced electromagnetic and gravitational fields in the interior of a moving superconductor are obtained. The Meissner effect, London moment, DeWitt effect, effects of gravitational wave on a superconductor, and induced electric fields in the interior of a freely vibrating superconductor are recovered from these two expressions. We demonstrate that the weak equivalence principle is valid in superconductivity, that Newtonian gravity and gravitational waves will penetrate either a moving superconductor or a superconductor at rest, and that a superconductor at rest cannot shield either vector gravitomagnetic fields or vector transverse gravitoelectric fields.  相似文献

Spin crossover by means of an electric bias is investigated by spin-polarized density-functional theory calculations combined with the Keldysh nonequilibrium Green's technique in a molecular junction, where an individual single-molecule magnet Fe{2}(acpybutO)(O{2}CMe)(NCS){2} is sandwiched between two infinite Au(100) nanoelectrodes. Our study demonstrates that the spin crossover, based on the Stark effect, is achieved in this molecular junction under an electric bias but not in the isolated molecule under external electric fields. The main reason is that the polarizability of the molecular junction has an opposite sign to that of the isolated molecule, and thus from the Stark effect the condition for the spin crossover in the molecular junction is contrary to that in the isolated molecule.  相似文献

We consider B(s)-->mu(+)mu(-) and the muon (g-2)(mu) in various supersymmetry-breaking mediation mechanisms. If the decay B(s)-->mu(+)mu(-) is observed at Tevatron Run II with a branching ratio larger than approximately 2 x 10(-8), the noscale supergravity (including the gaugino mediation), the gauge mediation scenario with a small number of messenger fields and low messenger scale, and a class of anomaly mediation scenarios will be excluded, even if they can accommodate a large muon (g-2)(mu). On the other hand, the minimal supergravity scenario and similar mechanisms derived from string models can accommodate this observation.  相似文献

A search for pair production of doubly charged Higgs bosons in the process pp -->H(++)H(--) -->mu(+)mu(+)mu(-)mu(-) is performed with the D0 run II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. The analysis is based on a sample of inclusive dimuon data collected at an energy of sqrt[s]=1.96 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 113 pb(-1). In the absence of a signal, 95% confidence level mass limits of M(H(+/-+/-)(L))>118.4 GeV/c(2) and M(H(+/-+/-)(R))>98.2 GeV/c(2) are set for left-handed and right-handed doubly charged Higgs bosons, respectively, assuming 100% branching into muon pairs.  相似文献

It has been shown that the orbits of motion for a wide class of non-relativistic Hamiltonian systems can be described as geodesic flows on a manifold and an associated dual by means of a conformal map. This method can be applied to a four dimensional manifold of orbits in spacetime associated with a relativistic system. We show that a relativistic Hamiltonian which generates Einstein geodesics, with the addition of a world scalar field, can be put into correspondence in this way with another Hamiltonian with conformally modified metric. Such a construction could account for part of the requirements of Bekenstein for achieving the MOND theory of Milgrom in the post-Newtonian limit. The constraints on the MOND theory imposed by the galactic rotation curves, through this correspondence, would then imply constraints on the structure of the world scalar field. We then use the fact that a Hamiltonian with vector gauge fields results, through such a conformal map, in a Kaluza-Klein type theory, and indicate how the TeVeS structure of Bekenstein and Saunders can be put into this framework. We exhibit a class of infinitesimal gauge transformations on the gauge fields Um(x){\mathcal{U}}_{\mu}(x) which preserve the Bekenstein-Sanders condition UmUm=-1{\mathcal{U}}_{\mu}{\mathcal{U}}^{\mu}=-1. The underlying quantum structure giving rise to these gauge fields is a Hilbert bundle, and the gauge transformations induce a non-commutative behavior to the fields, i.e. they become of Yang-Mills type. Working in the infinitesimal gauge neighborhood of the initial Abelian theory we show that in the Abelian limit the Yang-Mills field equations provide residual nonlinear terms which may avoid the caustic singularity found by Contaldi et al.  相似文献

Based on recent experimental and theoretical model results, the role of earthquakes and processes of their preparation as electricity sources in the global electric circuit (GEC) is discussed. In addition to the traditional elements of the GEC, such as thunderstorm currents, ionosphere currents, fair weather currents, and telluric currents, hypothetical seismogenic currents flowing between the faults and the ionosphere are considered. The ionization sources for these currents are presumably the radiation of radioactive gases and the ionization by the electric field of so-called “positive holes” created by the compression of tectonic plates, whereas transportation of electric charges between the Earth and the ionosphere occurs under the action of electric fields and turbulent diffusion (for heavy charged species). Seismogenic currents deliver electric charges into the ionosphere, which give rise to electric fields in it and in the magnetically conjugated region. The drift of magnetized plasma in the ionosphere F2-region and plasmasphere plasma under the action of these fields causes disturbances in the electron density and total electron content (TEC) of the ionosphere, which are observed by GPS satellites before strong earthquakes. The typical features of these disturbances (magnitudes, dimensions, stability, nighttime predominance of the relative TEC disturbances, geomagnetic conjugacy) are well reproduced in theoretical model calculations based on the solution of the equation for the electric ionosphere potential with specified seismogenic electric current at the lower boundary of the ionosphere if this current is strong enough (comparable with thunderstorm currents). The feasibility of such seismogenic currents is discussed. It is argued that the TEC disturbances observed before strong earthquakes cannot be explained by neutral atmosphere disturbances. These TEC disturbances can be treated as ionospheric earthquake precursors created by seismogenic GEC disturbances.  相似文献

We study the vortex phase diagram in untwinned YBCO crystals with columnar defects. These randomly distributed defects are expected to induce a "Bose glass" phase of localized vortices exhibiting a vanishing resistance and Meissner effect for magnetic fields H( perpendicular) transverse to the columns. We directly observe the transverse Meissner effect using a Hall probe array. As predicted, the Meissner state breaks down at temperatures T(s) that decrease linearly as H( perpendicular) increases. However, T(s) lies far below the conventional melting temperature T(m) determined by a vanishing resistivity, suggesting a regime where vortices are effectively localized even when rotated off the columnar defects.  相似文献

In the (2+1)-dimensional non-compact Abelian lattice Higgs model Euclidean correlation functions of vortices and, after adding the Chern-Simons term to the action, correlation functions of transmuted matter fields (anyons) are set up. These correlation functions satisfy Osterwalder-Schrader positivity. Via the transition to continuous Euclidean time, vortex and anyon operators within a Hamiltonian lattice formulation are obtained, respectively, and their respective dual algebras are displayed.  相似文献

Exact analytic solutions are presented for the magnetic moment and screening currents in the Meissner state of superconductor strips with rectangular cross section in a perpendicular magnetic field and/or with transport current. The extension to finite London penetration is achieved by an elegant numerical method which works also for disks. The surface current in the specimen corners diverges as l(-1/3) where l is the distance from the corner. This enhancement reduces the barrier for vortex penetration and should increase the nonlinear Meissner effect in d-wave superconductors.  相似文献

A system of difference equations describing current configurations in a 3D ordered Josephson medium is obtained. The system is based on the fluxoid quantization conditions in the cells. A method for the exact solution to the system is proposed for the Meissner configuration for any values of the parameters. The current configurations for the Meissner regime are computed, as well as the values of the critical fields above which the Meissner configuration does not exist. Approximate analytic solutions are obtained for the system of difference equations, which correctly describe the exact solution for the major part of the range of the parameters.  相似文献
