Low-field magnetic susceptibility and the magnetic field dependence of magnetization of Metglas 2605 A (Fe78Mo2B20) were studied between 300 and 600 K and in fields up to 10kG. It is shown here that for an amorphous ferromagnetic alloy, the various methods of determination of Curie temperature Tc give the same value, which in this case is (564 ± 1) K. The critical exponent γ is 1.7 ± 0.1. Our low-field susceptibility measurements on Metglas 2605 (Fe80B20) gives a Tc of (634 ± 3) K while the reported high-field method value is 647 K. These results are discussed in terms of crystallization temperatures.  相似文献

Tb0.75Y0.25Co3B2 was studied as a function of temperature by neutron powder diffraction, ac susceptibility and SQUID magnetization measurements. The solid solution, which is of hexagonal symmetry and is paramagnetic at 300 K, undergoes a magnetic Co–Co ordering transition at ∼150 K, and a second magnetic Tb–Tb ordering transition at ∼17 K. The latter induces a spin-reorientation transition, in which the magnetic axis rotates from the c-axis toward the basal plane. The component of the magnetic axis, which is perpendicular to c, leads to a crystal symmetry reduction from hexagonal to monoclinic. The observed magnitude of the magnetic moment of the Tb ion is 1.5 μB, unusually small relative to the free ion and parent compound (TbCo3B2) values. These magnetic and crystal properties are discussed and compared with what was previously published for the parent compound.  相似文献

Magnetization and susceptibility were investigated as a function of temperature and magnetic field in polycrystalline Mn[Cr0.5Ga1.5]S4 spinel. The dc susceptibility measurements at 919 Oe showed a disordered ferrimagnetic behaviour with a Curie-Weiss temperature θCW=−55 K and an effective magnetic moment of 5.96 μB close to the spin-only value of 6.52 μB for Cr3+ and Mn2+ ions in the 3d3 and 3d5 configurations, respectively. The magnetization measured at 100 Oe revealed the multiple magnetic transitions with a sharp maximum at the Néel temperature TN=3.9 K, a minimum at the Yafet-Kittel temperature TYK=5 K, a broad maximum at the freezing temperature Tf=7.9 K, and an inflection point at the Curie temperature TC=48 K indicating a transition to paramagnetic phase. A large splitting between the zero-field-cooled (ZFC) and field-cooled (FC) magnetizations at a temperature smaller than TC suggests the presence of spin-glass-like behaviour. This behaviour is considered in a framework of competing interactions between the antiferromagnetic ordering of the A(Mn) sublattice and the ferromagnetic ordering of the B(Cr) sublattice.  相似文献

The magnetic phase diagram of the monoclinic antiferromagnet MnBr24H2O (obtained from differential magnetization measurements) is presented for temperatures down to T = 0.3 K, and for applied magnetic fields parallel to the crystallographic axes a', b and c. For Hc an unusual behaviour is observed below T ≈ 0.55 K where the antiferro-paramagnetic boundary apparently splits into three others. It is shown that our critical fields extrapolated to T = 0 are consistent with a recent theory proposed by Becerra and Ferreira.  相似文献

Based on extensive Mossbauer effect (ME) and magnetization measurements, the orthorhombic AlFe2B2 was characterized as a ferromagnet (FM) because this character is evident as an onset of a FM transition at Tc=320 K and characteristic magnetizations isotherms below Tc. At liquid helium temperatures, the magnetization saturates to μsat≈1μB per Fe atom; a value which is half the one reported for the iron metal indicating a relatively more filled 3d band. The ME analysis revealed a hyperfine field H(0) of 88(2) kOe, an isomer shift (relative to Fe) of 0.50(2) mm/s, and a quadrupole parameter of 0.02 mm/s: all parameters extrapolated to zero Kelvin. The itinerant character of the magnetic moment will be discussed.  相似文献

The complex ac dynamic magnetic susceptibility was used to study the influence of temperature on critical fields in polycrystalline ZnCr2Se4 spinel. An antiferromagnetic order with a Néel temperature TN=20.7 K and a strong ferromagnetic exchange evidenced by a positive Curie-Weiss temperature θCW=55.1 K were established. An increasing static magnetic field shifts TN to lower temperatures while a susceptibility peak at Tm in the paramagnetic region—to higher temperatures. The non-zero and negative values both of the second and third harmonics of susceptibility suggest only a parallel spin coupling in ferromagnetic clusters in the range between the Néel and Curie-Weiss temperatures. Below TN the magnetic field dependence of susceptibility, χac(H), shows two peaks at critical fields Hc1 and Hc2. The values of Hc1 decrease slightly with temperature while the values of Hc2 drop rapidly with temperature. The strong changes of Hc2 temperature induced are mainly responsible for a spin frustration of the re-entrant type in the spinel under study.  相似文献

Measurements of magnetic susceptibility χ, in the temperature range from 2 to 300 K, and of magnetization M vs. applied magnetic field B, up to 5 T, at various temperatures were made on polycrystalline samples of the Mn2GeTe4 compound. It was found that Mn2GeTe4 has a Néel temperature TN of about 135 K, shows mainly antiferromagnetic behavior with a very weak superimposed ferromagnetic component that is attributed to spin canting. Also, the magnetic results suggest that a possible spin-glass transition takes place at Tf≈45 K. The spin-glass order parameter q(T), determined from the susceptibility data, was found to be in agreement with the prediction of conventional spin-glass theory. The M vs. B results indicated that bound magnetic polarons (BMPs) occur in the compound, and that the effects from BMPs disappear at approximately 80 K. The M vs. B curves were well fitted by a Langevin type of equation, and the variation of the fitting parameters determined as a function of temperature. Using a simple spherical model, the radius of the BMP in the material was found to be about 27 Å; this value is similar to the effective Bohr radius for an acceptor in the II-IV-V2 and I-III-VI2 ternary semiconductor compounds.  相似文献

The magnetic properties of RCo2B2 compounds which crystallize in the ThCr2Si2 structure with R = Nd, Gd, Tb have been investigated. The magnetic structure is ferromagnetic for NdCo2B2 and GdCo2B2, Tc equals 32 and 26 K respectively and antiferromagnetic for TbCo2B2 (TN = 19 K). Curie-Weiss behaviour is exhibited by all the compounds and the effective moments derived indicate that Co is diamagnetic. The difference in magnetic properties between RCo2B2 and other isomorphous RCo2X2 (X = Si, Ge) is discussed. Mössbauer studies of 155Gd in GdCo2B2 yielded the hyperfine interaction parameters and determined the direction of the magnetization to be in the basal plane. The electric quadropole interaction at 4.1 K is 580 MHz sec?1, this is the largest ever found in an intermetallic Gd containing compound.  相似文献

We report on the structural, frequency dependent ac susceptibility, dc magnetization and magnetoresistance (MR) measurements on polycrystalline samples of La0.9Ca0.1Mn1−yCryO3 (y=0, 0.1 and 0.2) prepared by sol-gel technique. For y=0, a paramagnetic to ferromagnetic transition is observed at Tc=136 K. Both for y=0.1 and 0.2, Tc increases from 136 to 180 K. For y=0, the imaginary part of the ac susceptibility shows a broad transition at Tf<Tc which does not depend very much on the frequency. However, for y=0.1 and 0.2, the frequency dependence resembles that of a spin glass. Though all the three samples show a semi-conducting behavior between 300 and 5 K, a negative MR is observed corresponding to Tc and Tf. The value of MR decreases for the Cr substituted samples.  相似文献

The temperature dependence of the ac susceptibility (χ) at constant applied magnetic field was investigated in the paramagnetic region of the quasi-2D ferromagnet (CH3NH3)2CuCl4. Above the Curie temperature (TC=8.85 K) a maximum in the χ(T,H) curves was observed at Tm(H). The temperature at the maximum increases with increasing applied field. This anomaly is related to short range fluctuations close the order transition. The behavior of Tm(H) is governed by the gap exponent of the scaling function (Δ=γ+β). We found Δ=2.2±0.1 in very good agreement with the previously known values of γ and β.  相似文献

We report the theoretical interpretation of the magnetization and the magnetocrystalline anisotropy of ferromagnetic DyAl2 single crystals between 4.2 and 60 K and magnetic fields up to 15 T. Good agreement between theory and experiment is obtained by using three temperature independent parameters: the two crystal field parameters B4 = (?0.50 ± 0.05) × 10?4 meV, B6 = ? (0.51 ± 0.05) × 10?6 meV and the Curie temperature Tc = (62 ± 2) K.  相似文献

Neutron diffraction studies of polycrystalline PrCo2Si2 and TbCo2Si2 compounds were carried out at 4.2 and 293 K. Both samples have collinear antiferromagnetic order below TN(31(1) and 46(1) K for Pr and Tb compound respectively), with their magnetic moments parallel to the c axis. The ordered magnetic moment values of Pr and Tb at 4.2 K (3.19 and 9.12 μB respectively), are close to the saturation value of the free ions. The corresponding magnetic space group Pl4/mnc (Sh410128) is body-anticentered (k = 111222 refering to Pl cell).  相似文献

A detailed study of the low-temperature magnetic state and the relaxation in the phase-separated colossal magnetoresistance Nd2/3Ca1/3MnO3 perovskite has been carried out. Clear experimental evidence of the cluster-glass magnetic behavior of this compound has been revealed. Well defined maxima in the in-phase linear ac susceptibility χ′(T) were observed, indicative of the magnetic glass transition at Tg∼60 K. Strongly divergent zero-field-cooled and field-cooled static magnetizations and frequency dependent ac susceptibility are evident of the glassy-like magnetic state of the compound at low temperatures. The frequency dependence of the cusp temperature Tmax of the χ′(T) susceptibility was found to follow the critical slowing down mechanism. The Cole–Cole analysis of the dynamic susceptibility at low temperature has shown extremely broad distribution of relaxation times, indicating that spins are frozen at “macroscopic” time scale. Slow relaxation in the zero-field-cooled magnetization has been experimentally revealed. The obtained results do not agree with a canonical spin-glass state and indicate a cluster glass magnetic state of the compound below Tg, associated with its antiferromagnetic–ferromagnetic nano-phase segregated state. It was found that the relaxation mechanisms below the cluster glass freezing temperature Tg and above it are strongly different. Magnetic field up to about μ0H∼0.4 T suppresses the glassy magnetic state of the compound.  相似文献

Measurements of magnetic susceptibility χ as a function of temperature T and of magnetisation M as a function of applied magnetic field H at a number of fixed temperatures were made on polycrystalline samples of Cu2FeGeSe4. The χ versus T data show that an antiferromagnetic transition occurs at 20 K and that a second transition occurs at 8 K, indicating a transition to weak ferromagnetic form. The M versus H curves indicated that at all temperatures below 70 K bound magnetic polarons (BMP) occur, in the paramagnetic, antiferromagnetic and weak ferromagnetic ranges. Below 8 K, the M versus H curves exhibited magnetic hysteresis, and this is attributed to the interaction of the BMPs with tetragonally anisotropic matrix. The B versus H curves were well fitted by a Langevin-type of equation, and the variation of the fitting parameters determined as a function of temperature. These showed that above 20 K the total BMP magnetisation fell almost linearly with increasing temperature and effectively disappeared at 70 K. The number of BMPs remained practically constant with temperature having a mean value of 6.55×1018/cm3. The analysis gave a value of 213 μB for the average magnetic moment of a BMP, corresponding to 42.4 Fe atoms. Using a simple spherical model, this gives the radius of a BMP as 12.0 Å.  相似文献

本文报道非晶态Fe13Ni67.2P4.5B15.3合金的磁化强度与温度和磁场关系的测量结果。在居里温度附近样品的磁特性符合二级相变规律,得到临界指数β=0.39±0.02,γ=1.56±0.06,δ=5.20±0.1,样品的居里温度Tc=(180.4±0.2)K。在实验误差范围内,临界指数β,γ,δ满足γ=β(δ-1)关系,在168—192K温度范围,实验数据满足二级相变的磁状态方程。当T>270K时,样品顺磁磁化率服从居里-外斯定律,由居里-外斯常数c计算出有效顺磁磁矩Peff=3.19 μB关键词:  相似文献

The effects of nonmagnetic impurities (Fe2+ in a low spin state) on the weakferromagnetism in NiS2 were investigated. The weak-ferromagnetic moment decreases rapidly with Fe content (x) and almost vanishes at about x = 0.05. On the other hand, Tc remains quite constant. Above Tc, two anomalies in the temperature dependence of the susceptibility were observed except for samples with x = 0 and 0.006. The effective magnetic determined from the susceptibility above Tc is about 3 μB/Ni, and is independent of x. Discussions are given on the origin of weakferromagnetism and on the hysteresis of the virgin magnetization curve.  相似文献

The title double perovskite has been synthesized by solid-state reaction in air. The crystal structure has been studied from powder X-ray diffraction data. Rietveld fits to the pattern show that this compound has a monoclinic symmetry [a=5.4932(3) Å, b=5.4081(3) Å, c=7.6901(5) Å, β=90.0022(1)°, at 300 K] defined in the space group P21/n, where the Cr and Sb cations are almost completely ordered in the B-sublattice of the perovskite structure. Magnetic susceptibility and magnetization measurements show that this compound behaves as a Curie-Weiss paramagnet at high temperatures with μeff=3.53(1) μB and θP=8 K, and exhibits a robust ferromagnetic component below the ordering temperature of TC=13 K, with a saturation magnetization of 2.36 μB/f.u. at 5 K. To our knowledge, this is the first example of a ferromagnetic double perovskite containing a non-magnetic element, such as Sb, occupying one half of the B positions of the perovskite structure.  相似文献

A new mixed magnet, Mn1−xNixCl2·H2O, is examined by dc magnetization and susceptibility measurements across the entire composition range. The pure components are quasi-one-dimensional Heisenberg antiferromagnets ordering at 2.17 K (Mn) and 5.65 K (Ni) due to weaker interchain exchange supplementing the dominant exchange along MCl2MCl2M… chemical and structural chains. High temperature magnetic susceptibilities yield Curie and Weiss constants in χM=C/(Tθ). C(x) is linear but θ(x) displays curvature, which is analyzed to show that unlike-ion exchange is ferromagnetic and similar in size to like-ion. Most notable is the absence of antiferromagnetic susceptibility maxima down to 1.6 K from x=0.10 to 0.95. For x=0.05 a susceptibility maximum appears, with Tmax almost 20% lower than in the pure Mn component but Tc reduced by 2%. The size of the susceptibility is enhanced by admixture, the effect of disrupted antiferromagnetic tendencies. Magnetization isotherms evolve with composition. Larger values of magnetization, under the same measuring conditions, occur for mixtures than for pure components, consistent with frustration, which weakens antiferromagnetic alignment tendencies. The competing ferromagnetic (Ni) and antiferromagnetic (Mn) intrachain interactions, along with disorder and low dimensional characteristics, presumably lead to the absence of magnetic order over a remarkably broad composition range.  相似文献

The Curie-Weiss constant θ of the quasi b.c.c., S = 12, Heisenberg ferromagnets, (NH4)2 Cu Br4 · 2H2 O and Rb2 Cu Br4 · 2H2 O, have been derived from measurements of the susceptibility in the paramagnetic region (4.2 < T < 100 K) and of the high-field magnetization curves at T = 4.2 K (TTc ? 2.3). The Tcθ values obtained point to the presence of further neighbour interactions considerably stronger than previously assumed. The effective number of equivalently interacting magnetic neighbours is estimated to be at least seventeen.  相似文献
