In this article, a Differential Transform Method (DTM) based on the mean fourth calculus is developed to solve random differential equations. An analytical mean fourth convergent series solution is found for a nonlinear random Riccati differential equation by using the random DTM. Besides obtaining the series solution of the Riccati equation, we provide approximations of the main statistical functions of the stochastic solution process such as the mean and variance. These approximations are compared to those obtained by the Euler and Monte Carlo methods. It is shown that this method applied to the random Riccati differential equation is more efficient than the two above mentioned methods.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the problem of sampling from a given probability density function that is known to be smooth and strongly log-concave. We analyze several methods of approximate sampling based on discretizations of the (highly overdamped) Langevin diffusion and establish guarantees on its error measured in the Wasserstein-2 distance. Our guarantees improve or extend the state-of-the-art results in three directions. First, we provide an upper bound on the error of the first-order Langevin Monte Carlo (LMC) algorithm with optimized varying step-size. This result has the advantage of being horizon free (we do not need to know in advance the target precision) and to improve by a logarithmic factor the corresponding result for the constant step-size. Second, we study the case where accurate evaluations of the gradient of the log-density are unavailable, but one can have access to approximations of the aforementioned gradient. In such a situation, we consider both deterministic and stochastic approximations of the gradient and provide an upper bound on the sampling error of the first-order LMC that quantifies the impact of the gradient evaluation inaccuracies. Third, we establish upper bounds for two versions of the second-order LMC, which leverage the Hessian of the log-density. We provide non asymptotic guarantees on the sampling error of these second-order LMCs. These guarantees reveal that the second-order LMC algorithms improve on the first-order LMC in ill-conditioned settings.  相似文献

We present a multivariate central limit theorem for a general class of interacting Markov chain Monte Carlo algorithms used to solve nonlinear measure-valued equations. These algorithms generate stochastic processes which belong to the class of nonlinear Markov chains interacting with their empirical occupation measures. We develop an original theoretical analysis based on resolvent operators and semigroup techniques to analyze the fluctuations of their occupation measures around their limiting values.  相似文献

We are interested in the strong convergence of Euler-Maruyama type approximations to the solution of a class of stochastic differential equations models with highly nonlinear coefficients, arising in mathematical finance. Results in this area can be used to justify Monte Carlo simulations for calibration and valuation. The equations that we study include the Ait-Sahalia type model of the spot interest rate, which has a polynomial drift term that blows up at the origin and a diffusion term with superlinear growth. After establishing existence and uniqueness for the solution, we show that an appropriate implicit numerical method preserves positivity and boundedness of moments, and converges strongly to the true solution.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with parameter estimation in linear and non-linear Itô type stochastic differential equations using Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) methods. The MCMC methods studied in this paper are the Metropolis–Hastings and Hamiltonian Monte Carlo (HMC) algorithms. In these kind of models, the computation of the energy function gradient needed by HMC and gradient based optimization methods is non-trivial, and here we show how the gradient can be computed with a linear or non-linear Kalman filter-like recursion. We shall also show how in the linear case the differential equations in the gradient recursion equations can be solved using the matrix fraction decomposition. Numerical results for simulated examples are presented and discussed in detail.  相似文献

We recast the valuation of annuities and life insurance contracts under mortality and interest rates, both of which are stochastic, as a problem of solving a system of linear equations with random perturbations. A sequence of uniform approximations is developed which allows for fast and accurate computation of expected values. Our reformulation of the valuation problem provides a general framework which can be employed to find insurance premiums and annuity values covering a wide class of stochastic models for mortality and interest rate processes. The proposed approach provides a computationally efficient alternative to Monte Carlo based valuation in pricing mortality-linked contingent claims.  相似文献

Parabolic stochastic partial differential Equations (SPDEs) with multiplicative noise play a central rôle in nonlinear filtering. More precisely, the conditional distribution of a partially observed diffusion solves the normalized version of an equation of this type. We show that one can approximate the solution of the SPDE by the (unweighted) empirical measure of a finite system of interacting particle for the case when the diffusion evolves in a compact state space with reflecting boundary. This approximation differs from existing approximations where the particles are weighted and the particle interaction arises through the choice of the weights and not at the level of the particles' motion as it is the case in this work. The system of stochastic differential equations modelling the trajectories of the particles is approximated by the recursive projection scheme introduced by Pettersson [Stoch. Process. Appl. 59(2) (1995), pp. 295–308].  相似文献

This paper reformulates the valuation of interest rate swaps, swap leg payments and swap risk measures, all under stochastic interest rates, as a problem of solving a system of linear equations with random perturbations. A sequence of uniform approximations which solves this system is developed and allows for fast and accurate computation. The proposed method provides a computationally efficient alternative to Monte Carlo based valuations and risk measurement of swaps. This is demonstrated by conducting numerical experiments and so our method provides a potentially important real-time application for analysis and calculation in markets.  相似文献

This article compares several estimation methods for nonlinear stochastic differential equations with discrete time measurements. The likelihood function is computed by Monte Carlo simulations of the transition probability (simulated maximum likelihood SML) using kernel density estimators and functional integrals and by using the extended Kalman filter (EKF and second-order nonlinear filter SNF). The relation with a local linearization method is discussed. A simulation study for a diffusion process in a double well potential (Ginzburg–Landau equation) shows that, for large sampling intervals, the SML methods lead to better estimation results than the likelihood approach via EKF and SNF. A second study using a nonlinear diffusion coefficient (generalized Cox–Ingersoll–Ross model) demonstrates that the EKF type estimators may serve as efficient alternatives to simple maximum quasilikelihood approaches and Monte Carlo methods.  相似文献

In this work, we generalize the current theory of strong convergence rates for the backward Euler–Maruyama scheme for highly non-linear stochastic differential equations, which appear in both mathematical finance and bio-mathematics. More precisely, we show that under a dissipative condition on the drift coefficient and super-linear growth condition on the diffusion coefficient the BEM scheme converges with strong order of a half. This type of convergence gives theoretical foundations for efficient variance reduction techniques for Monte Carlo simulations. We support our theoretical results with relevant examples, such as stochastic population models and stochastic volatility models.  相似文献

We apply the Monte Carlo, stochastic Galerkin, and stochastic collocation methods to solving the drift-diffusion equations coupled with the Poisson equation arising in semiconductor devices with random rough surfaces. Instead of dividing the rough surface into slices, we use stochastic mapping to transform the original deterministic equations in a random domain into stochastic equations in the corresponding deterministic domain. A finite element discretization with the help of AFEPack is applied to the physical space, and the equations obtained are solved by the approximate Newton iterative method. Comparison of the three stochastic methods through numerical experiment on different PN junctions are given. The numerical results show that, for such a complicated nonlinear problem, the stochastic Galerkin method has no obvious advantages on efficiency except accuracy over the other two methods, and the stochastic collocation method combines the accuracy of the stochastic Galerkin method and the easy implementation of the Monte Carlo method.  相似文献

This paper studies the use of randomized Quasi-Monte Carlo methods (RQMC) in sample approximations of stochastic programs. In numerical integration, RQMC methods often substantially reduce the variance of sample approximations compared to Monte Carlo (MC). It seems thus natural to use RQMC methods in sample approximations of stochastic programs. It is shown, that RQMC methods produce epi-convergent approximations of the original problem. RQMC and MC methods are compared numerically in five different portfolio management models. In the tests, RQMC methods outperform MC sampling substantially reducing the sample variance and bias of optimal values in all the considered problems.  相似文献

We present a comparison of different algorithms to solve the problem of minimizing the expectation of the maximum line length of a multiservice system. One of the Seatures of the problem is that the evaluation of the objective function is computationally heavy. In order to find a numerical solution of the problem, we analyze two representations of the objective function that allow some approximations and compare the efficiency of approximate Monte Carlo and deterministic versions of the gradient projectioin method. Results of a set of simulations are provided. The algorithms we provide appear to solve accurately the problem much faster than the standard gradient projection method.  相似文献

A comparison of Adomian's iterative method for stochastic differential equations and the Picard method of successive approximations shows interesting differences for both deterministic and stochastic differential equations. The iterative procedure is more efficient and computationally useful even in the deterministic case. In the stochastic case, the Picard method has no value, while the iterative procedure is useful and simple.  相似文献

Stochastic differential equations are often simulated with the Monte Carlo Euler method. Convergence of this method is well understood in the case of globally Lipschitz continuous coefficients of the stochastic differential equation. However, the important case of superlinearly growing coefficients has remained an open question. The main difficulty is that numerically weak convergence fails to hold in many cases of superlinearly growing coefficients. In this paper we overcome this difficulty and establish convergence of the Monte Carlo Euler method for a large class of one-dimensional stochastic differential equations whose drift functions have at most polynomial growth.  相似文献

The work contains a brief survey of research related to stochastic and quasistochastic methods of computation carried out in recent years by the author and his colleagues. The areas of research include, in particular, substantiation of multiplicative generators of pseudorandom numbers, Monte Carlo methods for solving nonlinear equations, complexity estimation, stochastic stability and parallelism of stochastic and quasistochastic algorithms. This area of research is of utmost current interest in view of the rapid development of multiprocessor computing machinery.  相似文献

This article considers a system with infinitely many interacting particles, starting with a system of n interacting particles that is described by a system of n stochastic differential equations for the time-varying locations and weights. Any particle in the system interacts with others through the weighted empirical measure Un formed by the sum of weighted Dirac measures on the n particles. Weak convergence of the weighted empirical measure is studied under suitable conditions, such as bounded initial values, and linear growth of drift and diffusion coefficients. Thereafter, the limit of the weighted empirical measures is identified to be a martingale solution of the infinite interacting system.  相似文献

In Monte Carlo methods quadrupling the sample size halves the error. In simulations of stochastic partial differential equations (SPDEs), the total work is the sample size times the solution cost of an instance of the partial differential equation. A Multi-level Monte Carlo method is introduced which allows, in certain cases, to reduce the overall work to that of the discretization of one instance of the deterministic PDE. The model problem is an elliptic equation with stochastic coefficients. Multi-level Monte Carlo errors and work estimates are given both for the mean of the solutions and for higher moments. The overall complexity of computing mean fields as well as k-point correlations of the random solution is proved to be of log-linear complexity in the number of unknowns of a single Multi-level solve of the deterministic elliptic problem. Numerical examples complete the theoretical analysis.  相似文献

Recently proposed computationally efficient Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) and Monte Carlo expectation–maximization (EM) methods for estimating covariance parameters from lattice data rely on successive imputations of values on an embedding lattice that is at least two times larger in each dimension. These methods can be considered exact in some sense, but we demonstrate that using such a large number of imputed values leads to slowly converging Markov chains and EM algorithms. We propose instead the use of a discrete spectral approximation to allow for the implementation of these methods on smaller embedding lattices. While our methods are approximate, our examples indicate that the error introduced by this approximation is small compared to the Monte Carlo errors present in long Markov chains or many iterations of Monte Carlo EM algorithms. Our results are demonstrated in simulation studies, as well as in numerical studies that explore both increasing domain and fixed domain asymptotics. We compare the exact methods to our approximate methods on a large satellite dataset, and show that the approximate methods are also faster to compute, especially when the aliased spectral density is modeled directly.
